I have loved going to Chuy's before they came to Jax. I've been to the location in Orlando several times and I can say that the Jax location is as efficient, if not more. I've never had an issue with incorrect food, rude staff - nothing. It's a solid chain (and I really like to eat local) and we come here after church some evenings. First and last time going there. There is absolutely no way this is tex mex. My husband's burrito was flat and resembled an enchilada...never seen that before. It was almost completely empty just beans and some beef. Literally about a half inch thick. Seriously, I could go to Taco Bell and get more of a legit burrito. I came in knowing about their awesome tortillas and knew I needed them for a breakfast dish I was making at home the next day. Best trick in the book, the bartender invites me to stay for a drink saying, "I'll give you those tortillas, you don't even have to buy them." A large white peach sangria and an appetizer combo later, I'm laughing and watching TV with new friends at the bar, laughing and carrying on. I admittedly do not care much for chain restaurants since I feel strongly about supporting small and local business, but I had to try this place since my coworker kept raving about it. I chose the enchilada and I was pretty impressed with their food. For a chain, this place gave close to authentic tex-mex. I also had a couple sangrias, so that may have helped. (just kidding) The restaurant is packed on any given night as it is situated at the center of Town Center. It is also quite loud inside. Very good Mexican food for a chain restaurant! Been to the one in Jacksonville twice now. First time service was poor and all our food came out not very hot. Second visit was better, I had the enchilada combo which came with three different enchiladas, rice and beans. I ordered a burrito with fajita beef. The fajita beef with ground beef which is not the way you prepare meat for fajitas. The green sauce they had with it was terrible, no guacamole in the burrito, no rice in the burrito which was a godsend since the rice on my plate with an edible. This is not a Mexican restaurant it its tex-mex. there are far better Mexican restaurants in the area. COVID stole my favorite Chile relleno. The menu is very limited and probably based on local tastes, which run toward the most basic "mex". I like chuys... the last few visits have been meh... today was not good. Arrived to a dirty table with visible crumbs on it. Someone came and cleaned it and our waitress promptly brought us the chips and salsa. From the beginning I was a little worried. Our teas had very little ice in it but whatever then when our meal came out it all looked fantastic. We had fajita combo for 2. The steak looked a tiny pink on the inside but my dining partner was ok with it. Once I got to the middle of my chicken we noticed it was undercooked. I toiled around about telling our server. When she finally came back I showed it to her and she even agreed it looked pink. She offered to have more made. I declined because I had had my weight in chips, salsa and queso. I figured she wend send a manager over but it never happened. As a matter of fact we didn't see her again for awhile after that. Our drinks went dry :(. This is a good choice at the town center for casual dining. I think it is especially good for families and groups. Everyone from vegetarians, to carnivores, to children who are particular, should find something on this Tex-Mex menu. Decided to try chuys after many friends have said it was so delicious. But at the start there was part of a plastic bag IN the salsa. The chips are thin and break easily. The guac had lettuce mixed in which I thought was so weird. We got the fajitas for two and although the flavor was good, the meat was over done, and the butts of the onion was left and cooked with the fajitas. Just seems like laziness to me. Great food and value. You can watch them make your tortillas as you walk in, which kids love. The chips are translucent delights, and the salsa is borderline pico for freshness, but includes the zest of garlic. This place is equally great for family night out or dates. Their T-shirts are soft and high quality; I don't buy many restaurant shirts but have two of theirs and one for my daughter because they're so funny and also durable for the price. We eat at Chuy's Mexican in Town Center at least twice a week. The prices are fair. Serving sizes are plentiful. The food is great. The food is spiced like real Mexican food should be. They have several vegetarian options that really appeal to us. It is usually packed, however they work hard to get you seated as quickly as possible. The service is very good... very attentive... very quick. The only complaint I really have is that the place is so dog gone loud. You can barely hear each other speak. Good fresh tasting Tex-mex option. Wait time on a Friday night was long and the waiting area was very crowded. Two separate groups complained of not being seated & skipped over during our wait. Tried the Chuy-Changa with green chili white rice and refried beans. It was good. The house salsa was a bit too spicy but very fresh looking. Queso was very yummy.
