As much as I adore and appreciate the open layout and colorful decor of the expansive dining room, I often elect to dine at the bar when im flying solo. The "Dia De Los Muertes" artwork throughout the restaurant is great to sit and take in, especially if its your first visit. The TVs at the bar keep me entertained as I greedily snack on the tasty chips and salsa while watching whatever sports event is on. I've had quite a few dishes here, but my go-to fave is the Carnitas. Flavorful pulled pork, Spanish rice, refried beans, esquites (Mexican street corn), and warm flour tortillas. Forget eating everything separately...I go all in and scoop everything into that tortilla. SO GOOD. The tang and crunch from the esquites puts it over the top. Add a little squeeze of lime and dig in. The Enchiladas are also a good option when Im in the mood for some cheesy-melty goodness. The red sauce is rich and flavorful, and pairs wonderfully with the tender shreds of meat and that cool hit of the sour cream. Is Cantina Louie "authentic" Mexican food? Dont know, dont care. The tacos were packed with flavor and came with edible garnishes (crunchy cucumbers and spicy jalapeños). Small detail, big win. Their prices are very fair and they have happy hour every day from 2 to 6 including weekends. Their happy hour includes drink specials as well as appetizers and, on taco Tuesdays they have taco specials and drink specials. Their food has been consistently good. Tonight, I sat at the bar and I was greeted and served right away. The bartender informed me of some new menu items they had as well as what drink specials they had. I chose to have a house margarita and it was a very good margarita you could definitely taste the tequila in it. It wasn't like a Chili's margarita And their tacos taste very authentic. We typically like to sit at the bar so we can discuss variations of cocktails to see what we like with the bartender. They have a few spicy margarita options that we tend to order pretty frequently that are quite delicious if you're not into the overly sweet drinks. I can't miss with the food I've ordered. It's always a healthy serving and you get plenty of chips regardless. I also really enjoy their guacamole as it's a little chunky and fresh tasting. Bathrooms always seem to be clean as well. Deidre, the manager on duty (probably spelling her name wrong) did speak with me as we were leaving and said the hostess didn't tell the servers we were there. But we watched 2-4 of them literally look at us and avoid making eye contact. They served a table that came in after us (they were eating their entrees and on their second or third round of drinks...) Right now I'm not sure we will be back. I've been to the new location twice now and I think they're getting some momentum now. Had So Cal chicken with salad on my first trip and it was as good as I'm used to, friendly service at the bar by one of the trainers in town from Daytona. Tonight the fam and I dined in and lucked into a table without waiting (7:15 on Thurs). I got an avocado enchilada and a pineapple Al pastor taco with some rice and beans to share with my son. Hubs got the huarache and a taco, kids got tacos and an enchilada. Everything was good, though the avocado enchilada wasn't as good as I remembered and service was prompt, even though the gal who greeted our table told us she was in training. She's doing great. First off, it's nice to be home in Jacksonville. Traveling is nice, but when it's for work and it's a full-time schedule, it gets to be much. So, upon returning from our trip, the wife and I did not want to cook. I remembered that this location recently opened, and we wanted to check it out. We were first told it would be a 45-minute wait but was pleasantly surprised when it was only 15-20 minutes. We were ordering some drinks when the text came in that our table was ready. They provided chips and salsa at the table, which seems to be pretty standard now. The chips and salsa were good. I ordered a California burrito, which came with French fries, but they were not needed. The wife ordered the SoCal avocado chicken. Both dishes were very good and thoroughly enjoyed them. The sister-in-law also had the SoCal avocado chicken; her boyfriend had the fajitas. I caught him doing a little happy dance while eating, so take that for what it's worth. When I caught him, I pointed it out to my wife, and we had a good LOL! We finished by sharing churros and flan. They were very good as well. I forgot to take a pic of desert. read more

Came in here on a random day just because I've seen quite a few of these restaurants around the area and decided to give it a try. Upon walking into the restaurant, it was very colorful and fun with fun paintings on the walls with bright colors. We were greeted pretty fast upon walking in and was sat pretty much instantly. After looking over the menu, I ordered various tacos and their mexican corn and my wife ordered the avocado enchiladas and we both had a horchata. I'm must say that since they have free refills on the horchata that was a plus because other places in the area don't offer that. While waiting for our food we were served free chips and salsa. It was alright, not the tastiest thing I've had, but wasn't the worst either. Our food came out in a timely manner. My tacos were all okay...... I say that because the ingredients were good, but the flavor just wasn't there considering this is Mexican food. The only taco that had some taste was the pork taco, but they made it taste Hella spicy, but bland at the same time. Like how in the world!?!? My wife's avocado enchiladas were exactly that. Literally a plain piece of avocado wrapped in a tortilla, no seasoning. The best tasting thing was the horchata. Oh, let me not forget the corn...... it was boiled and then had the seasoning on it rather than roasted and have the seasoning on like traditional street corn, which made it taste like once again, bland, but at least the sauces added flavor to it. Overall, this place is your average American chain Mexican restaurant. Not bad, not great, just ok. I don't see myself coming back or recommending this place, but if its the only thing around, I'll go without complaints.
