I normally LOVE going to chuys. It's one of my favorite places to eat in Knoxville. Tonight was the worst experience I've ever had here. First, the hostess asked how many and we said 3, me, my husband, and my little girl. She asked if a booth was ok, which is normally a great idea because our little girl is too big for high chairs but too little to stay seated in a chair for a whole meal. We got seated in a two person booth, so there wasn't really any room for our kid to sit with one of us, so we tried a high chair but that ended up not working. We squeezed together and made the best of it. Then after 10 minutes of sitting there my child was hungry and there was no "hello" or any chips or drinks so I looked around trying to decide which waitress or waiter was ours. When she finally came up we ordered our drinks and she tried sprinting away, and my husband politely asks if we could get chips and the jalapeño dip. She basically rolls her eyes and says "yeah I was going to get that I just haven't a chance". We waited another 10 mins and finally got drinks and chips. Then we ordered our food. The food came out sooner than the drinks and chips did, but we ran out of chips while waiting and drinks. They bring out the food and I glance at my plate and there's this green chile rice....my face is clearly disgusted but the man who brought the food just quickly walks away without asking if everything looked alright or if we needed anything like sauce. Then the waitress comes by and asks how everything is and I ask for a refill on drinks and chips, then ask why we got this green rice..she answers that she just heard someone say that they ran out of Mexican rice. Well wouldn't that be nice to know, I normally mainly eat the rice and chips. If they had told us and gave us a choice of what to do I wouldn't have ordered what I did because I tried something new and hated it and had nothing to eat except chips (which at this point we are still out of). Then she bring a refill and more chips and she says "these are the last chips by the way". Now, this was about 30 mins til close. I understand everyone wants to go home, I do too after barely eating here tonight. It's not like we showed up 10 minutes til close and expected 3 full meals and to stay for hours and hours. We arrived over an hour before close and were hardly taken care of, the food ran out by the time we got any service, and no one alerted us about it. Then, no one offered to comp the meal or anything. She did offer more beans, but I don't like their beans. When she took my plate (after I already told her I won't be eating anything on my plate) she said "are you going to continue poking around on your plate?" No mam. I will not. We still left about 20 til close, so maybe staff need to slow down and actually take care of their customers before closing the store before it's even time to close. It's actually crazy how much waiting we had to do when they are quickly trying to close the store with people still inside. Sadly it was a waste of time and waste of money since I literally only ate chips. At least my child was fed. read more

Got curbside because it was so busy seeing it was Cinco De Mayo. I had the best service while waiting in my car. The waitress gave me a free iced tea while I waited and the food was absolutely delicious I got the Panchos they were served in a pizza box they are so big and tasty. Well worth the wait. read more

Ordered the Elvis plate. I have dined at this establishment at least 25 times over the years. Wife's food was satisfactory. Server was polite & prompt. However, one of the items on my plate had been contaminated with some sort of petrol (e.g., gasoline). Probably caused by someone's hands having a residue from gasoline for who knows what reason. Not my job to C.S.I. a restaurant. My job is to dine, receive quality food & tip properly, which I did notwithstanding this issue. Notified server of problem who then apparently notified a young, no-name tagged male manager of about 25 years of age. I explained to the manager that there was a problem with my dish, somehow contaminated with petrol or gasoline. At that, the manager did his best to explain-away how that was impossible, stating that his cooks wear gloves? So, I guess it's impossible for gloves to be contaminated, or for food prep. to be accidentally contaminated? Bottom line...this young manager demonstrated a very poor, condescending, dismissing attitude, which was inappropriate. A bit later, the waitress returned with a bill for only my wife's food. The removal of charges for the contaminated food makes sense. But the way the manager handed the problem was unsatisfactory. It's understood that "stuff happens". I get that; maybe he doesn't however? He really needs to comprehend that accidental (but unacceptable) process problems happen, and that needs to be looked at. And when a customer who has been to your store for several years - and as many times as we have & is treated so dismissively, the impression the customer gets is, 'we don't care, bud'. That message was clearly received. My message is similar and reciprocal, I won't be back until you folks square away your management and take care of possible contamination problems. All that being said, obviously & due to the fact that we've dined here frequently over the years, we have always loved the ambience of this restaurant, the general "vibe", the menu and the bar...and we've never had a problem with any employee in the years we've dined here. However, the aforementioned process problem needs to be addressed and your frontline manager needs to consider a better way to address issues like this. read more

We walked in on a slower late Saturday night at 8:30. Hostess was hopelessly focused on her phone facing against us for a solid two minute so we sat at the bar. My wife's favorite Tex-mex place has now become one of my faves as well. I struggled to find something I liked but after trying the burrito today I am sold. When we arrived there were several cars outside waiting on to go orders and multiple employees coming in and out with food. The seating system was down inside but they handled the crowd well. Olivia was our server and she did a great job keeping the refills coming on soda and chips. This place is always crowded for a reason. This Chuy's is always the best. We have stopped at this particular spot for a few years now every time we pass through this area. It has consistently been the best Chuy's with its great atmosphere and staff. The food is always delicious. We had stopped at a Chuy's on this same trip earlier in the week in Ohio and regretted the money spent but I have never felt that way about this one. If you like spicy, get this dish -- the enchiladas and rice are both pretty spicy. COMBO FAJITAS FOR ONE - $12.79 After several visits of leftovers when ordering the combo for two, my parents always get the combo for one and it's way plenty for them. They just order extra beans and rice ($1.59) and the portion ends up being just right. My sister enjoyed her RIO GRANDE ENCHILADA ($8.99), and her husband thought the chicken was dry for his DELUXE CHICKEN ENCHILADA ($9.29). I've been here before, but I believe the laziness of writing got to me and I never got around to writing a review. So to make up for that I'm writing this! This time around I ordered a chicken burrito. Turned out that it had way too many beans. And because of the extra beans there was not enough chicken. I mean, it is after all a chicken burrito. You know that feeling of just mush in your mouth? It levels to the similarity of just thick oatmeal. That's the sensation I had. When I ate it, it felt like I was just chewing mushy beans. I get it though, beans are cheap and less chicken means more profit. The plus' about this place has to definitely be the never ending tortilla chips. That definitely compliments the drinks. If I were to come back here, I would probably order an app, a drink, and just kill those chips. They're addicting. That's about it, the service was alright and this place isn't just so memorable for me. Nothing really stood out to me.
