Very good! Had lunch here with our usual dining group. Party of 6 seated immediately... I hate having to wait for a table so I totally appreciated getting our table right away. I've been getting a bit carried away with my meal choices lately so today I chose to behave and go healthy. I got the chicken fajita salad, no dressing (I use fresh squeezed lime on my salads) the chicken was grilled perfectly, the lettuce was crisp and the tomato was fresh and diced. My dining mates had ordered a variety of dishes... we had the Enchilada, Soft Tacos, chicken fajitas and the complementary Chips & Salsa. Everyone at the table enjoyed their lunch. The service was friendly and efficient... two thumbs way up for Thomas, great service. I have to mention the Chips and Salsa... they are very comparable to ChiChi's , which are awesome. It's about time Tampa got a Chuy's! I'm sad that this one isn't closer to my house, but it's in the perfect location if you're going to shop at the Tampa Premium Outlets beforehand. We arrived at an off time, at 2 pm, and it was still packed. But while we waited, we started drinking - of course. We started off with the swirl- Strawberry and Lime Margarita and you can even get a floater in it if you wish. After we were seated, our waiter recommended the Strawberry and the White Peach Sangria Swirl Margarita and it was amazing! First things first.. the Creamy Jalapeno sauce. I could bathe in this sauce I'm so addicted to it. Make sure to ask for some with your chips if your waiter doesn't already bring it to your table. Also... you can put creamy jalapeno on almost everything on the menu, so that's exactly what I did. I went with the Fajita Beef Burrito with creamy jalapeno, no regrets there it was super filling and tasty. One thing is for sure, you definitely won't leave here hungry. If you live close enough make sure to come in for their happy hour Monday- Friday from 4-7! Great prices on margaritas and they have their nacho car set up. read more

The only reason I gave 1 star is yelp forces you to give a rating. My wife and I went to Chuey's in Tampa on Friday August 11th. The waitress in the bar was there quickly to ask for our drink order. We placed an order for drinks and food since we had been to this restaurant numerous times. The waitress did not write anything down and came back with our drinks. The food came out shortly after and my order was not correct. My wife had ordered the Chicken Tortilla soup and she later told me the soup was cold. My plate had lettuce and tomato and sour cream on the plate and I had placed the order for everything on the side. I tried to find the waitress to ask about the mistake and she was nowhere to be found. We ate our lunch and the waitress never returned to check on our meal or ask if there are any concerns. We had to track the waitress down for our check since I wanted to leave quickly. I went to the restroom to wash my hands and upon returning to the table saw our waitress grab the plates off the table and proceed to call my wife a liar and disputed our order as she saw it. I then went to the front desk to find the manger and there was nobody there. I tracked down another server in the bar and she did not know where the manger was. We left the restaurant and we will never return since the waitress was ignorant and rude to my wife. We did not want to start and argument at the restaurant. I called the restaurant after we left and informed the manager that we had not been happy with the service and she explained that someone should have found her. I would rather not go back to this restaurant since it is obvious that training the staff and true customer service is no longer important to this establishment. read more

I know that I probably shouldn't get so excited over a chain restaurant but I freaking love Chuy's. I love the food, the atmosphere, and I even love their clothes. I was bummed for years that my favorite Tex Mex had shut down but Chuy's is a great replacement. The decor of the restaurant is what I would politely call odd. There's a shrine to Elvis, one room has fake palm trees, another room has a hubcaps on the roof, while there are framed dog portraits by the bar. Why? I have no idea but I like it. There's often 80's music playing. The fastest way to get me or my friend Todd B to like you is to play 80's music. They give you almost comically large portions of food. The fajitas come with rice, beans, a large toppings platter, and they include avocado for no additional cost. The tortillas are made there and there's a window where you can watch them doing it. It's all delicious! They'll keep refilling your chips and will give you a bag to take home if you want. My only complaint is that the salsa sometimes feels like a medium hot and sometimes it feels hotter than that. As someone who doesn't eat spicy food at all sometimes it's way too much. I wish they had the option to just get mild salsa. They have shirts for sale that are Chuy's version of pop culture. I've got a shirt with a Darth Vader made of chips that says "Luke, I'm nacho father". Look for me in it next time you're at Galaxy's Edge. Every time I come here it's crowded which means I don't have to worry about Chuy's not being in my future. read more

We just love the happy hour offerings with the nacho bar and the drinks are tasty as can be... They start off your meal with some complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa was very good and tasted fresh. The salsa, like other things I like in my life, was very thick and chunky. I really appreciated that as I am not a huge fan of liquidy salsa. I need some chunks of tomato in there. I had the elvis presley memorial combo. It came with three different enchiladas, a taco, and two large homemade tostada chips that were dipped in queso. Needless to say, it was a lot of food. I had to get it so I could tell you about a wider arrange of food per trip. Or at least, that's what I told my doctor. They were all pretty good. Not the greatest enchiladas I have ever had but they were still pretty good. The tostada chips were amazing. Loved the chil con queso. If they served that in a cup, I would drink it. The rice was incredible. I think it was chili lime rice. Had a good kick to it and incredibly tasty. Probably one of the best rice dishes I have had. I even got double rice instead of beans. Would advise! I forgot to take a picture of the interior of the restaurant (rookie mistake). It was filled with pictures of dogs. I could not believe how many dogs were on the wall. I have never seen that many dogs. Even my Aunt Suzanne doesn't even have that many pictures of dogs in her house. I read on some other reviews that you can get some free stuff by bringing in a picture of your dog. I saw one person say a drink and another say appetizer. I say my dog is so cute, his picture deserves an entree. Anyway it was really good and I would advise going as the area around here is lacking a good tex mex place and Chuy's fills the gap. We left ....walked out of Rock and Brews across the street after waiting what seemed forever for service with the bartender and staff all tied up in conversation. It was like a reunion for their staff and the customer attention came second. Pulled into Chuy's and there was a wait. Once seated our server was on the spot with helping us work through menu suggestions and getting our drinks out. Free chips and salsa were to the table quickly. I had been thinking about trying Chuy's and ate an early dinner at this location while visiting my parents. This restaurant was so bad that I would hesitate to try a different location. First, there was an unpleasant smell, that seemed like it was from burnt food and a lack of cleanliness. Service was excruciatingly slow, and the food was horrible. Chips n salsa- fresh pico style, a little bite. Light crispy airy kinda chips. Tough to hold the guacamole without breaking Kids meal- 3 crispy tacos- mine was the 'lite' fare single beef taco n queso with a kick. The taco shells were 50-50- part crispy and part chewy. Maybe that is why the place is called "Chuy's"???? Hmmmm Papa got enchiladas which he thought all came with meat, silly goose! Now he knows there is a cheese enchilada or chicken or even.....beef! Guacamole was good flavor. The cranberry margarita was good, but I tasted salt, i loathe salt on my margarita- sorry salt rita' aficionados, it's not my thing. The only restaurants for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad with flavor, mad to be tasted, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones that never burp or serve a commonplace thing, but cook, cook, cook...I had first met Chuy's after a split from another Tex Mex restaurant which was high on gas and low on spice. I was in the Wesley Chapel area one day when the sky opened up like a scroll, I heard my stomach rumble, it seemed to say go forth into the land and eat before thou oh man explorest the road and There was Chuy's, a vision of bountiful Tex mex, which would soon burst forth into a howling explosion of flavor do glorious, it could only make my tastebuds scream with joy. Chuy's was jumping, more so than any hobo jungle pad I'd been in lately. This was the place where the real art met the mad flavor of spice, spice, spice! The decor was loud and wonderful. The waiters and waitresses were all hep and friendly. Those cats run a clean place. I ordered tortilla soup, quesadillas, and chile relleno. The smiling waiter had an expression like he was performing a symphony as he delivered nachos. These were fresh crisp nachos to keep the growling inner beast of hunger at bay before entrees were served. They were hot, served with two wild and original sauces, both crazy with flavor. These sauces were the salsa and the ranchero, they were to the chip what honey is to the comb. I finished, still wanting more... Then the entrees came a crazy colorful collaboration of cosmic flavors came before me. The tortilla soup had a delicious and delectable flavor with avocado, chicken, and and tortillas. Then the relleno - this wasn't just a goop of cheese and disappointment that said " go moan, go groan, go cry alone," these were more of glorious stuffed peppers. I could feel the music of flavor in every bop of a bite. The quesadillas were folded in a gently loving way, and crisped to perfection. This food spoke to me saying go forth and tell others of the greatness of Chuy's. Go, go further out into shore and plain until they search out the wild and mad flavor of the place where Elvis is remembered fondly... as are parts to a 57 Cadillac. Fasa, our server, the absolute giga chad, Viking king that he is, was very enthusiastic and kind with us. Eivor himself is in awe of the sheer intensity of his character. He brought out a free sample platter of sauces so that we would know what each tasted like before we ordered. He was very quick, and had excellent service. Was very observant of everyone he was serving, and came back frequently to refill drinks and ask how everything was. Service rivaled, equaled even, if not outmatched, Eddie's. Definitely can tell this is Austin based and NOT Texas proper! Decor was ok with creepy plastic trees in the middle. Service was polite and swift. I hate when restaurants use cheap silverware and Chuy's is a prime example...why? We came for lunch at this is where they really missed the mark! Chips were basic, salsa was fresh but really tasteless for a starter. Tacos were terrible and refried beans were very dry. I was driving by and decided to give it a try. The staff is very friendly and the young lady to took my order was helpful with providing info on the menu. I got the steak burrito and the serving size of the meal is quite a lot. I ate most of it plus they bring out chips and salsa and ranch dressing with jalapeno in it that are delicious. Well 8 friends wanted to get together for an early lunch to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. We were not even allowed on the patio five minutes early and promptly at 11am opening time, had to go a server or someone to help. Rude! Rude! Rude! Very uninviting staff! Finally got situated and music starts blaring! Could not even hear the person beside me. We asked over 7 times for it to be turned down with no response. Then we had to ask for a Manager. We can now see where the staff gets their attitudes from. She said there was no knob to turn it down. We then said it needs to be turned off then. She said it is one of their biggest days and she couldn't do that. There were only two other people on the patio. Such a lack of respect for their clients! We went on a Friday night around 6:30pm and of course there was a wait. I was told 25-35 minutes. We waited about 35 minutes, then checked with the hostess. However, we were told another 15 minutes. Ok, it's Friday, so we waited another 15 minutes. After the 15 minutes went by, we were told it's another 15 minutes. I was irritated at that point because we already waited about 50 minutes at that point when we were initially told it's 25-35 minutes. So I asked "why another 15 minutes. We were told it's 15 minutes 15 minutes ago". We were told "they are not seating people because the kitchen was backed up. We finally walked to the bar and got a high top to sit (was told it's open seating by the waitress). We were not told high tops were open seating by the hostess. If we did not find place to sit by the bar, we would have waited more than 1 hour when we were told it's 25-35 minutes wait. The quesadilla was very good and large portion. Salsa was very different. And the guacamole was just straight up smashed up avocado with no flavor at all. Not too impressed with the food, and had the worst experience with the hostess/host. Our waitress was good. read more

Chuy's is good! It's really good Tex Mex! Every time I have gone or ordered food I have not been disappointed! I have enjoyed their Chile Rellano, Boom Boom Chicken Enchiladas, and Flautas! All were good. My favorite thing on their menu is the jalapeño ranch sauce! I seriously wish it was sold in stores. It is that good! The location is up in Lutz so it is not super convenient of a location to access from South Tampa or Seminole Heights area. But other than location everything is great!! On our recent trip to Tampa, we ate here three out of six nights. The food is always good. Service is at times slow but usually because it is busy! Why 4 stars? First visit was slammed so I tried lunch this time. Was quiet and perfect to try the food out. I started with the free chips and salsa. Chips were good and salsa was just ok. Then they bring some Jalapeño Ranch. Wow..that was some good stuff with a little heat. Went on to the Chicken Burrito with queso. The inside of the burrito was a little bland, but the queso and ranch did the job. Rice was decent that was served with it. The service was good, decor was strange but funny. Very clean and good size menu. Will definitely be back to try out some other items and test the drink menu. read more

I do not recommend this chain any longer. I have been to many of them. Including Denver Colorado and in Austin Texas where they started out. Their menu has shrunk and shrunk and shrunk and now the only vegetarian option is a bean and rice burrito. That does not include anything like grilled vegetables. They do not have chili Reanos 's. They do not have shrimp they do not have fish. Their menu it's so small at this point I will not go back. What a ridiculous thing to have a huge shame that used to have so many different things to eliminate all of them. You might as well go to a shopping mall. Seriously shopping mall!! read more

One of my favorite restaurants ever. I love the fun decor and the nod to my favorite musician of all time, Elvis Presley! I come in every year on his birthday and get the Elvis Presley Memorial Combo and they always have some type of event or special for him. Their margaritas are always on point and delicious, I wish the watermelon was a year round option because it's my favorite. All of the servers I've encountered have all been attentive and kind even when it's busy. read more

The atmosphere is fun. I love the little touches, like the fact you can bring a picture of your dog and get a free appetizer. The T-shirts are great to browse. Pro tip: if you go often, be sure to check out their bargain bins for deals. They're so soft, and they wash well. The food is always top notch. You know when you see some grandmas in the tortilla making booth that magic is going to happen, and the tortillas never disappoint. Their sauces are house made, and the Hatch green chili sauce is my personal fav. Spicy? Yes. Flavorful? Oh, yes. That's one of the things I appreciate about this restaurant. The spice adds to the flavor instead of overwhelming it. The only drawback to this restaurant is the atmosphere. On busy nights, the dining room can get far too loud.
