Wish I could rate with negative stars....Waitress was not very attentive and transparent about the kitchen running out of beans and rice. When we finally got her attention to inquire about our dinner, her reply was "Well those other people (table next to us) just got their food and they've been waiting longer." At this point we were almost at an hour waiting, the only good thing was we were with family and enjoying each other's company we didn't realize how much time had passed. We then asked the waitress, how much longer? She stated, "Not sure since we ran out of beans and rice." Then walked away from our table without any apology or asking if we would be ok without rice and beans with our meal. We spoke with a male manager, who also could care less about our situation, made the same excuse about running out of beans and rice. We asked why no communication or transparency was given and told him how long we were waiting. He said he didn't know. He walked back to the kitchen, then came out and said our food would be right out. He delivered all plates and main dishes were COLD! They were obviously sitting out for some time, rice and beans were the only food items hot, even the plates were cold. We were just shocked by this Manager and he actually thinking serving us cold food was acceptable. We didn't eat and won't eat here again while visiting Norman, OK. We were still made to pay for drinks, Manager claimed he couldn't comp the drinks just food. I don't buy that since I've worked in the food industry before and I've seen it done to make it right with the patrons. This was a horrible and disappointing experience. read more

We LOOOOVE Chuy's but NOT in Norman Oklahoma. Our family was on a road trip through the lower states and we were headed back to Texas. Hotels had stopped serving hot breakfast and we had been wary about eating out in Covid "RED" states, so the welcome sign of Chuy's in Norman Oklahoma was an awesome sight. We donned masks and ventured inside where, it appeared, everybody was masked, and the restaurant was not that crowded. We ordered and were about 3/4 the way through our meal when I noticed an employee in the kitchen barking orders at the cooks and the wait staff while she moved plates of food around on a table. I was shocked because this person was NOT wearing a mask. I asked our server what the lady was doing, and she said she was the expeditor. This lady, who was talking over and touching EVERYBODY'S food was not wearing a mask. Why bother to make everybody mask up when somebody talking over and touching everybody's food is not masked? The server said she would go get a manager and she went through a door into the kitchen. Immediately everybody in the kitchen looked at our table. A few moments later, the server came back and said a manager was not available and could she get us anything else. We immediately paid our bill and left. Shame on you Chuy's. One, for not being sure your patron's health is first and two, for hiring managers that are too busy to address the concerns. read more

What's not to like about this place? When it first opened, it was difficult to get a table, but that doesn't seem to be a problem anymore. I pretty much always get the same thing: Chicken Enchiladas w/ Boom Boom Sauce and Cheese Enchiladas with Tomatillo Sauce. I drive from Edmond just about every week to eat at this place. Also, I'm kind of a salsa connoisseur. And this stuff is habit forming. I mean, you'll either love it or hate it and I definitely fall into the former camp. I love the atmosphere! Those funky pics are adorable, the staff is great. I just wish I liked the food. This is more like Gourmet Mexican to me. There are just some weird spices in the food and they have like 5 different salsas but none of them are traditional enough for me. I was excited to try, but was extremely disappointed!! The refried beans were worse than any I've had out of a can... so not even edible. the cheese enchiladas weren't even as tasty as the ones you get in the freezer section. Never will be back to Norman location. Service continues to be horrible. We love Chuys in Tulsa, but avoid the trap and and go somewhere else while in Norman. Most recent visit, tonight...yes, it's late 9:20 on Saturday night to go to eat. After being stared at by FOUR people at the host stand, we were asked how many & if we needed children's menus. We went to a table with 4 chairs (plastic on seat is very worn & ripped) someone delivered chips and salsa. No one came to take our drink order. A waitress (10 minutes later) barely stopped holding up one finger saying "one sec". A waiter noticed our empty chips and while refilling them asked if Jessica had taken our drink order yet. NO. So he did. I wish I got his name. He was the only working that I saw, despite the massive amount of employees standing around. Jessica finally came back and took our order and over talked us to say that if we changed the combo 7 it would be a 4. When actually we just wanted to specify what beans and rice. Then came the manager and stating he knew our visit was "off track" however they are out of the veggie mix. This place is getting run down and the manager is terrible. read more

Done with this place, 3rd time we had take out and I never tore the bag apart to make sure it was all in there. 3rd time is not a charm. Each time an item was missing. This time it was salsa, so when I called my husband said maybe they charge now and we didn't specifically order it. Called to ask and the guy who answered the phone said oh the waiter just forgot it. We were so excited to see Chuys open in Norman until we went to eat there. The food is probably the worst Mexican food I have ever eaten. Ordered items included the chuys special which was cold, soggy, and flavorless. The chuychanga which had hardly any sauce and was burned. The chicken fajita tacos had no flavor and the chicken was like thawed frozen chicken from Walmart. The refried beans are awful and almost taste like ground peanuts. The rice was crunchy. And nothing I have eaten at this establishment has come out hot....or even warm. So disappointed. Do not waste your time or money. read more

Went for a late lunch the day after Christmas. Its a busy place but we were seated quickly. We got there around 3pm..no drink specials but happy hour starts at 4pm - 2.75 drafts. They have unique margaritas to choose from (like one with green chile infused tequila) but we decided to have dessert instead of drinks. We read reviews on Yelp first and had several entrees with pictures that we wanted to try. After eating 3 baskets of warm, thin chips and fresh, chunky, spicy salsa, I decided on the #4 combo. It came with a chile relleno and an enchilada with rice and beans. This was our waiters recommendation and he suggested adding the boom boom sauce to both. This is a SPICY sauce but very tasty. The chile relleno was lightly fried and filled with shrimp and cheese. YUM. The enchilada had chunky white meat chicken. Also YUM. I opted for the green chile rice (also recommended by the waiter) and charro beans. Everything was just a little spicy but good. My husband had the combo fajitas. I had a bite of both the chicken and beef fajita and they were both lean and I could taste the seasoning of each. They came with a huge portion of toppings and unlimited tortillas (freshly made in house). He had fat tacos and had plenty left over! For dessert, we had the tres leches cake. All I can say is...OMG!!! Its a HUGE slice with cream, strawberries and caramel. My first bite brought a huge smile to my face. My husband rarely and I mean rarely says thats anything is mmmmm...but he did with this dessert. I highly recommend trying it. (I really didnt want to share with him after my first bite). We left with a paper bag full of leftovers. Our watier was good even though he was super busy. The food didnt come out quite as quick as I thought it would but dont worry, they will give you plenty of chips. My only complaint is that it was a little cold inside. We werent near a door, but I could feel cold air blowing all around me. Our waiter did check with the manager and it seemed to get a little warmer. Overall, a great expereince there. We went in for an early dinner 09/04/17 at 4:15. There was a family ahead of us that had been waiting awhile to be greeted. The hostess was MIA. Another staff member came to seat our parties, stating, "I don't know where the hostess is". She was obviously irritated by having to do it and was very rude. We sat, opened our silverware packets which state "This silverware has been cleaned & sanitized" to discover both mine and my husband's had food stuck on them. A waitress brought chips & salsa. She took our drink order & we asked for clean silverware and side plates. She brought our drinks, put them on the table, didn't say a word, and walked away. (Still no clean silverware or side plates). No one EVER came to our table after that to take our order (although other staff members saw us, too). We munched on chips and sipped our drinks and eventually just left. I don't know if anyone even realized that we left without being waited on. Went there yesterday after not going for about 6 months due to the lack of quality of the food. It was even worse now. This place used to be great but has definitely went downhill over the past year. No flavor at all in the meat of the pork roast enchiladas and the same for the chicken in the enchiladas. Service was terrible and several wait staff just standing around taking selfies of themselves in the bar area. Took about an hour to get our food and the manager made up a story that our order was deleted from the computer and then changed the story and the food came out. Won't be back and will be sure to let all of our family and friends know. I would recommend Ted's next door over this place. Ted's is always consistent and great service. The manager at Chuy's yesterday did not seem competent in my opinion. He gave us a bogus excuse about our order taking so long and just let the staff stand around in the beverage cove beside the bar laughing and talking while customers were nearby. This is really disappointing since Chuy's was one of our favorite places up until the past 12-18 months. Hopefully they can regain the level of quality and service that they once had. read more

The food is always so filling, and the wait staff is super friendly. Since I am a vegetarian, my options are more limited than most others, but I always find something I'm in the mood to order! The queso is actually my favorite part of every trip I make to Chuy's. The first time I ate here, I told the waiter I was a vegetarian, and he recommended the "Boom Boom" sauce, since the standard queso contained meat. Boom Boom sauce is literally heaven. It's rich, it's thick and creamy, and it has the perfect amount of spicy flavoring to it. The only reason I'm not giving this restaurant a five star rating is due to the fact that they over-stuff my bean and cheese burrito with beans every time I order one. I know it's kind of a stupid reason to most people, but as a vegetarian whose main source of protein is beans, I have to complain. The burrito is HUGE, but I can rarely ever taste the cheese inside, since the (pretty) bland beans are a little overpowering. Other than that, I highly recommend paying Chuy's a visit the next time you're in the area! read more

I really like the food here, although the atmosphere is a little loud because it's always crowded. Generally at regular meal times there is a 10 to 15 minute wait and that this location there isn't a lot of room to stand or sit while waiting. The service is really good, with attentive waitstaff. I also like that you can order to go meals online and you don't even have to go in if you don't want to. They will come out to your car, run your credit card, and bring your food out to you. Last a friend and I went to Chuy's for supper. I have ate here many times and loved their queso and their wait staff. This visit the queso was so hot I could not eat it. When I told the waiter he proceeded to tell me that they could not control the heat of the queso. He was very rude and was not dressed appropriately to be waiting on tables. The manager came over and gave me the same excuse that the queso was made from scratch and they could not control how hot it was. He did agree to take it off and brought guacomole but it was not up to par either. The whole meal was not the Chuy's I was used to. I will not return. read more

Chuy's is one of the better Mexican/TexMex places in the area. The service is fast and furious, but still manages to be attentive and personal. It's also a pretty "festive" place in the decor department. It can get pretty loud though when the place gets busy which makes it tough to carry on a conversation. I'm absolutely disgusted. We made a special trip to Norman to try Chuy's from a few recommendations. Together with my husband and two small children, we traveled the 45 minute trip to eat lunch. We were seated immediately and our server was very prompt with greeting and even offering me a sample of the pickled pear margarita to try. However, after we received our queso and had been eating it for roughly fifteen minutes, my five year old daughter found a butter trash top floating around in our queso. Seriously? We didn't even have butter at our table! We told our server as soon as she came around to check on us and she removed it. When our check came, she kindly told us the queso was comped. It just blows me away. I grew up waiting tables in college and my husband is a restaurant manager and yet no manager came by to even talk to us about it. After I took my two children to the bathroom on the way out the door, I asked to speak with the manager. I explained our situation and received the reply, "that is not our standard. Every person that makes queso is to check the dish before serving." Well, then how does someone else's used butter trash end up in ours?! I told her thank you and that we would not be back. I understand things happen but the fact that she did not come by our table when the restaurant was not busy is not okay. I am so disgusted and even more disappointed. read more

My family loves Chuy's. It's a chain that we liked while stationed in TX and were so excited to see one in Oklahoma. While the food is delicious and the drinks as well, it's the customer service that puts Chuy's over the top, and the one in Norman is no different. Worst food ever. My quesadillas were so overcooked they were like trying to eat a shingle. My friend's cheese enchiladas had chicken and veggies in them. This was a to-go order that was repeated back on the phone correctly but they made it wrong anyway. The order taker said, "cheese and sauce only?" And I said yes, but they put chicken and veggies in the CHEESE enchiladas. Horrible food. Taco Bell is better, so don't waste your money here. Never again! Twice I have been to Chuy's. To me, it's all hype. My two experiences with the place have left me with me asking myself "why go back, there are other places in Norman to eat Mexican". My biggest complaint (two, actually) is that the service is very bad and both times that I went there, I had to send my food back to the kitchen because it was cold when it arrived. I first thought it was because the place was new and that the staff hadn't had time to "get it". I went back again this pas weekend, and the same thing again. Terrible service and my food was served cold to me. I asked the manager why the problem and he said "my wait staff and kitchen staff are having problems". So, if you want hype, go to Chuy's. I've been to the one in Austin and this is NOT as good or as well run as that location. If you want bad service, this is the place. There are pleny of places in Moore/Norman/South OKC for great Mexican food. This is NOT one of them. read more

Visited Chuy's a few months back, my family and I love to try out new restaurants and couldn't wait to try Chuy's, we even didn't mind the wait. However, being an Okie surrounded by so many Tex-Mex restaurants that 1. serve you FREE cheese sauce, @ Chuy's you had to order/purchase the cheese sauce, 2. give you a cheese sauce and hot sauce per person at table, @ Chuy's they only brought one hot sauce per table (there were 4 of u s) and refilled our chip basket with 1/2 a scoop (table next to us got the second 1/2), 3. bring you tortillas, hot and fresh, to your table, @ Chuy's they weren't offered and had to be asked for TWICE by my 8 year old, and 4. FREE sopapillas, @ Chuy's you have to order/purchase them. The food was tasty and good, but the food is just as tasty and good at Ted's, which is right next door, and offers FREE cheese sauce and sopapillas and hot and fresh tortillas. If had to pick a Mexican restaurant to eat at Ted's Cafe Escondido will win EVERY TIME, sorry, Chuy's, we Okies have been "spoiled" by the Freebies of the many Tex-Mex places here in Norman for many years, which have good food, so you just aren't worth paying for the extras. read more
