Haven't been here in several months. The last time we went, we had JUST sat down and a roach crawled out from behind the salt and pepper shaker. This tells you how long because it was before the shutdown and they removed salt and pepper from the tables. Anyway, I discreetly informed a manager of the problem and he moved us to a different table and said they had just sprayed that week. Well, fast forward to tonight, we sat down near a window, and low and behold rats were running around outside up against the building. Will seriously re consider ever eating here again. I was so excited to see that they had a Chuy's in Waco. Chuy's I think has the best Tex Mex around. The building has the same cool vibe, with the hubcaps on the ceiling, the pictures and the colors. But the similarities kind of stop there. The food here is ok, my fajitas were overdone and the rice and beans were way over salted. The tortillas and chips and salsa were good though. My waitress Jane was super friendly, but to not any fault of her own was stretched way to thin. She did have a great attitude about it. read more

Waiter didn't seem to care about service we were his only table outside Our meal was good but everything else was Very poor. Waiter name was Billy. Chuy's has been a favorite of mine for many years and when we were in Waco we saw this one close to where we were staying. Getting a little hungry we decided to pay a visit to this place on a busy Saturday night and were pleasantly surprised when we got seated right away! Our waitress was very pleasant and service was really good! Wish I had gotten her name and although not the best Tex Mex it hit the spot for a late night meal and the energy in the restaurant was infectious! What made it a good experience for me was the service. Our waitress was very nice and provided refills to us in a timely manner and made sure that our food came out promptly! It is located so close to the Holiday Inn Express in Hewitt, Texas which is in the Waco area. Convenient if you're looking for a nice and lively place to eat with a lot of atmosphere! read more

How can I resist the temptation of true tex mex? My Bayler co-worker knows his way around Waco so we followed him to Chuy's around 8pm on a Wednesday night. The place is busy. Portions are huge here ("told you, things are big in Texas"). I ordered combination deluxe with tex mex enchilada, chicken flautas, beef taco, and tostada dipped in cheese sauce. My plate can feed not 1, but 3 people. I tried everything but didn't think anything was particularly tasty. However, my co-worker's sizzling fajitas looked and smelled fantastic. It was first experience of sopapilla at Chuy's. It's a deep fried flat shaped dough, you dip it in honey and stuff it your mouth as quickly as possible because otherwise it makes a hot mess. I was looking forward to the dessert but was a little disappointed because the lack of flavor. Maybe my fellow Texans talked it up too much. I have been a customer of this Chuy's location for seven years. I have turned a blind eye to multiple "mess ups" in the kitchen, that were generally resolved through decent customer service. HOWEVER after placing an online order, and waiting an hour for delivery, I was told by the manager Jessica that they never received the order (money was already taken from bank account) and that the only concession that could be made is "baby we can start making your food now." I was also told that there was no phone number to contact corporate. When pressed on the issue, Jessica hung up on me. Poor customer service!! read more

The wait staff at this restaurant has an appalling lack of the basic skills necessary to be working in customer service. I repeated my number to the front desk twice, but she was more concerned with the idle chit chat of her coworkers than correctly typing my number into the computer. So after waiting 30 minutes, I go to check on the wait and am rudely informed that I'm no longer on the list because I was texted 20 minutes ago. This is when the young lady realized her mistake. She immediately told the other members of the wait staff that my table had the wrong number on it in a tone that made it sound like it was my fault. Even once realizing they're mistake it took them another 15 to get me a table. Do better. read more

First time in Waco, and Chuy's was our choice for dinner. The restaurant was packed, but following a very short wait we were seated. Service was quick and responsive, and the food was AMAZING! The salsa had a good bite to it, but also had good flavor. Our server also brought us creamy jalapeño dip, which we had never tried. It was very different from typical Mexican food sauces we've tried, but it quickly became our favorite for dipping chips and taquitoes. The decor was pretty eclectic. In one room the ceiling was decorated wall-to-wall with car hub caps, and another room had a strange mix of artwork. It keept us entertained! Highly recommended restaurant! read more

Service was great. Bartender took my large order without writing anything down and Got It All Right. Now when I got my food from the lady who worked in the back, she(older lady 40s)was a little upset that she had to bring me my order and slammed it in front of me at the bar. Chuys is by far one of my favorite restaurants. I've been to a few locations, but the Waco one is the best thus far. It gets very busy around dinner time, so I always tend to go a little early so that I am not waiting 45 minutes for a table. I will wait if need be because I truly think it is worth it, but try to avoid this if possible. They will not seat you until your whole party has arrived, so know this ahead of time if you're coming with a big group and someone gets there early. This location has a lot of space on the inside and a great patio for cooler days in the spring and summer. The staff is friendly and the food is delicious. I stick to the basics with my order here and go with tacos, rice, and refried beans. There is pico, guac, and other toppings on the side, so it's all that I really need in a meal. My husband gets a combination plate and loves the chilli relleno. Honestly though, I could make a meal out of the chips and salsa alone! If you haven't tried creamy jalapeno, you haven't lived... If you're interested in trying more of their salsa, just ask the waitress, as it doesn't cost extra. The drink menu is also pretty extensive and the drinks aren't super expensive, especially during happy hour. I've had a few different types of margaritas and really enjoy them. Again, it's one of my favorite restaurants and we go back every chance we get. I would highly recommend! read more

Chuy's used to be our go to restaurant. We had not been in awhile. Very disappointed that the menu has shrunk and the quality of the food was bad. Beef fajitas were very tough. The chimichanga was not fresh and nothing like it used to be. Service was very slow too. We ignored that because we know restaurants are short staffed, but there's no excuse why the food no longer tastes good. We probably won't go back. read more

Fast service and fast wait (if there is one)! There is a wide variety of sauces and their chips are addicting. The chile verde salsa is pretty solid, and meets my spice expectations. We ordered online on a Sunday evening. We drove from Lorena to Waco to pick up our food. When we got home we were missing and entree and a side of rice and beans for another entree. When we called the restaurant they offered a gift card or we could drive back to pick it up. She stated that they got new to go plates and sometimes they forget the rice and beans. WHAT????? It is bad enough that the menu is limited during this time, but put some pride in what you do serve. We are trying to keep you in business. This is the second time they have messed up our order.
