I had lunch there today & ordered the Chicka-Chicka-Boom-Boom which I've ordered several times before at the Fairfax location. I've never had a problem with the spiciness of the dish before, but today it was beyond spicy & not in a good way!!! It was horribly spicy, like uncomfortably spicy!! I mentioned it to my waitress & she said she tasted it earlier & noticed that it was extra spicy today too! She said it seemed to her like whoever blended the serrano peppers in the sauce, blended them for too long. I'm not sure exactly who made the sauce or what they did wrong, but the sauce, green chili rice & salsa were too spicy today!! I'm from Austin and this is a great taste of home. The best Mexican food I've found outside of Texas by a wide margin. Hardly ever a wait, even on a Friday night. The food is outstanding and the prices fair. About the only bit of ambiance you don't get from the original Chuy's is the outgoing servers. They're friendly here, but friendly in Virginia isn't the same as at a restaurant in Texas; they're all business and very efficient here in Northern Virginia. read more

I Love Chuy's! The food is always made fresh and you can tell they really put time into giving the dishes the right touch and flavors. The chips and creamy jalapeno sauce are the best. Loved this place. The decor is from the 50's with lots of beautiful paintings. All the servers were happy and helpful. We did not know that starting at 4pm Monday through Friday there is a happy bar and the back of a 58 chevy Belair opens up with free chips, refried beans, meat and melted cheese so you can make your own nachos! Excellent. The food was great and we ate until we were full and had more than enough to bring home lunch for tomorrow. We will be going back. read more

I like the sample platter. The food I must say is pretty good. The restaurant is clean and tidy. I have been to this restaurant a couple times and I've had a good visit but the last time I went, the server was a little rude. Seemed like serving us was an inconvenience to her. It was a party of 8 and she only wanted to put one basket of chips. I asked her if she can please add another one because we were a big party and plus we couldn't reach the basket. She looked at me as if I had asked her to go to the store and buy them for me. The people with me even noticed and were starting to say that one was okay. No, it's not okay. My mother and I came here on a whim on a Saturday night. The place had a decent crowd so we were thinking that maybe meant the food was great. When we came in there were two girls at the hostess station. They were talking amongst themselves and then walked away without acknowledging us. They return a couple minutes later and we were seated. I wasn't too impressed by the layout. It was okay but reminded me a little of a decorated cafeteria. We received menus quickly from the young lady that sat us, and then the waiter came by shortly after. He was amazing and I'm sad that I didn't get his name. I must say that the chips and salsa were amazing as well. The menu didn't seem very extensive and the food options were not at all exciting to me. Our food arrived maybe 15 minutes after ordering which was surprising, but once my dish was in front of me I understood why it didn't take long to make it. I ordered a chicken enchilada, which was literally what looked to be unseasoned rotisserie chicken wrapped in a tortilla, with a sour cream based sauce on top. I don't even want to get started on the rice on the side. I was extremely put off by what appeared to be burnt cheese stuck to the plate, and considering it didn't look like there was any cheese anywhere on or in the enchilada, I was kind of grossed out. I was extremely disappointed. I gave one star for my waiter and the other for the salsa. Both of them deserve more than one star, but for the restaurant as a whole, i would give zero stars if I could. read more

Went there during Friday happy hour. Had a lime margarita and my wife had the strawberry. Very good. I had the Elivs fried Chile chicken with rice and refried beans. From the moment we spoke to the hostess - right as we walked in the door, the service was exceptional. Our server was very knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. The restaurant has a very welcoming air to it. The drinks (sweet tea) were freshly brewed and very refreshing. The complimentary chips are fresh, thin and flavorful. The salsa has a little bit of a kick to it but was delicious. Our food arrived very quickly and was exactly as described in the menu. Nice big portions and very tasty. I'm a big time fan of Tex Mex food and I was looking forward to Chuy's opening. Not so excited now. I arrived at 9:15p excited to try the new place in Woodbridge, VA. I decided to sit at the bar because I'd just returned from a long trip and wanted the good service a bar normally provides. Not the case here - the bar staff was so focused on closing I had to ask for every thing I needed. The Margarita was excellent, however my food arrived cold and the steak was not cooked to order so I had to ask the staff to fix that. The food arrived again, and again the steak was not cooked right (medium rare). What a huge disappointment! This is my first yelp review. Being from San Antonio Texas I have eaten some of the best Tex-Mex ever. With that being said, I do not expect that Tex-Mex served in Woodbridge, VA would compare with Tex-Mex served in San Antonio. However, I would expect a decent effort and that didn't seem to be the case at this restaurant. My family and I ate there this evening and none of us were pleased. Since I am posting this, I will comment on my food, I ordered chicken enchiladas and I am pretty sure enchiladas are supposed to be rolled. In this case they placed a tortilla on the plate, layered the filling on top and continued the process a couple of more times until it was topped off with a tortilla. It was like a triple layered cake. They had huge hunks of dry chicken in the dish which had to be cut in half to eat. The tomatillo sauce was cooked into the top tortilla and was EXTREMELY dry. The sauce on the bottom of the plate was like paste! I will admit the rice and refried beans were pretty good. I also ordered a margarita and it was terrible! I NEVER leave alcohol on the table but this was the one of the worst margaritas I have ever had. Also, the restaurant was extremely cramped, they have too many tables in a small space! While On The Border that is right next door this restaurant is not the greatest Tex-Mex, it is hands down MUCH better than the crap that is being served here. Visited for my first time with a party of 7on a Saturday. We were seated pretty much right away but when we were seated the wait for the waiter to come to our table was ridiculous. When the waiter finally made it to our table to take our drink order it took at least 15 minutes to get our drinks. Finally got our drinks and placed our food oder and it took forever for us to get our food. I ordered the steak burrito and i was extreamly disappointed. Their service is really slow. I really only come for the jalapeño creamy dip and chips. You would think 5 mins tops to prepare it but as soon as I walked in no hostess to be found a bus girl saw me and went to get her. When she came back clearly she had been eating (fyi they were not busy actually really slow) so she takes my order and moves on to the two ladies behind me. After taking their orders it was clear we both wanted the same thing so I assumed they would bring it out fairly quickly since nothing has to be prepared. I was wrong of course and ended up sitting there for 20 or so minutes. I've been wanting to try this chain ever since my friend kept raving about it. When I found out that this chain was in Woodbridge, Va I had to give this place a try. We were immediately seated upon arrival. Hubs ordered Baja Fish Tacos fried and thought that the beans and rice seemed nuked in microwave. He thought the tacos were good but nothing special. Daughter ordered the Avocado Enchilada which was the Thursday special. She thought it was very spicy and ended up eating hubs' tacos. Hubs thought her avocado enchilada was good. Finally, I ordered Relleno and Enchiladas which had shrimp and cheese in the relleno and steak with ranchero sauce in the enchiladas. It was delicious. We loved watching this worker make fresh tortillas at the window. It made me appreciate our tortillas. Our waiter, Sean, was very friendly. Out of all our dining experiences, Sean was the friendliest because he always had a nice smile on his face. You don't encounter that too often these days. He was refilling our drinks before we got a chance to ask him. Will return when in the area to try other items on the menu! read more

Disappointing today. Although the service was great, my Quesadillas were soggy due to the pico that was served with it. The nacho car that was advertised was just chips and salsa which you can get anytime. Small margarita was served in a kids size cup. It seems these folks have quit trying and are living on their reputation. As a loyal and frequent customer, I must reconsider spending my money at a place that is sliding backwards. Chuy's has a great refreshing menu with great portion sizes. This place is a great value for money and crazy busy during the weekends. A few things which would be good is employing more peope on busy hours coz there was a long wait to get our food. Also, maybe because it was busy, the service was average. We had to call out multiple times for sides and water. But overall, good food, great portion sizes at great cost. read more
