The wife and I tried the place in Springfield and wasn't impressed, but we were craving Mexican and thought why not try Chuys one more time. Well...this will be the last time. The food was soooo bland. The guacamole had no flavor, probably the worst I have ever had. Then we had the chicken and beef fajitas, and once again bland. UPDATE: I've lowered my review to two stars for the absolutely horrendous customer service. We started by trying to order some take out. Time on hold: 10 minutes. While that call was on hold, we called from a second cell phone. The phone was answered, transferred, and then I was promptly hung up on. I was told they were really busy. From the looks of the parking lot, I'm pretty sure it wasn't with customers. Moving on... the other call, fortunately, was eventually answered. So we ordered the same meal we always order. It had to be clarified with the take-out girl. She got the wrong sauce with the wrong dish. She still got it wrong. We didn't realize until we were home. A quick phone call and a curt "bring it back" (30 minutes, round trip) and we're trying again. After being told it would be 6-8 minutes to remake the order, it wasn't. Wait time was closer to 15 minutes to get a new order that didn't get put in until we arrived to give them back the wrong food. The manager (Jason) was professional but obviously didn't care one bit. He offered two free dinners as compensation via post card/certificate (for later, not the current ones). He didn't offer to refund the TIP the take-out girl was given OR to refund the meal which would have been appropriate at this point. He was mostly missing in action during that exchange and not one person apologized for the screw up. Generally the staff was rude and unpleasant. My tipping policy has changed for take out at Chuys: not happening. At least not until management and staff start to care about the customers. The food, on the other hand, was delicious. Kudos to the corporate recipes and the kitchen staff on the execution. PREVIOUSLY: I'm a fan. I eat here somewhat frequently. PROS: Variety CONS: Variety -- it can be hard to decide. Little known fact: You can mix the sauces with the items you order. So let's say you order the 2 enchilada plate with one beef and one chicken. Get the Tex-Mex sauce on the beef and the Boom Boom sauce on the chicken. VOILA! Magic. And oh so tasty. And let us not forget about the jalapeno ranch dip. It is DELICIOUS. It's a scratch kitchen so every experience can be different. We've seen that with the fresh-made salsa. One day it might be bland and the next they've fired it right up and it's got a kick like a mule in an enclosed space. The "big as your face" burritos are amazing! I usually get the ground sirloin with the tex-mex sauce. And don't forget... you don't have to settle for Mexican rice and refried beans. You can substitute the green chili rice and the charro beans -- both excellent. The one thing that comes to mind when I think of Chuys: FLAVOR. Service is typically good to great and I've always had good experiences in Woodbridge. At Springfield, it was more meh. But the food was still good. They recently concluded their green chili menu and I diverged and got the Burrito Loco.... ugh... wasn't my cup of tea at all. At least that's over and I learned to stick with the staples. They are, however, sticking with their street tacos. Eating here more than once every two weeks should require Catholics to say multiple Hail Mary's and at least as many Our Father's. Best way I can describe this is it's as though the place just opened. Everything was clean and fresh and the staff was prompt, courteous and went the extra mile. I've been to a different location and was underwhelmed, but not here. Coming from TX I tend to scoff at any place claiming to be "Tex Mex." Even if they started out in TX, they tend to spiral downward on the East Coast. They nailed it here. Chips fresh, salsa super fresh (do restaurants really think we can't tell the difference??), and the margarita was perfect-- not reeking of a premix that tastes more like a funky sweet lime drink than real margarita (talking to you, Uncle Julio's). I got the beef fajitas and they were perfectly seasoned and marinated, not so strong that they cover up poor meat quality, but not plain and bland either. For just $2 (!) I added 8 shrimp. To me, how shrimp is cooked is a true test of a cook, and these were perfect as well. Not rubbery or tough. And the food came out super fast. As in 10 minutes or so. I overheard a family of three next to me also remark at how quickly their meal came out. Caught the general manager bussing tables too, which is cool. Great food and friendly atmosphere! Chuy's is a great place to eat! If you haven't tried their creamy jalapeno sauce or "crack sauce" as I call it, I strongly recommend trying it...it's addictive and I put it on everything! Also, I love their Chile con queso, especially with chips...yummo! I usually order the Fajitas, chicken or steak, both are good. But I have also had the Chuychanga (love the hand pulled chicken), Comida Deluxe, Quesadillas and Appetizer plate which are all great options too. Their fountain coke is awesome! Overall the food's taste is pretty good but there have been a couple of things found in the food. The first time I went there with my brother, he found a hair in his food. The last time I went I was with my mom and there was a hair in the jalapeño ranch dip. Although this is really disgusting we all overlooked it because maybe it could have been a hair from us. But I decided to draw the line when my mom was eating her food and there was a piece of plastic! I felt so bad for her because like most people, this would absolutely ruin their appetite and let me tell you, we know that the plastic didn't come from us. Every time we come in we get excellent service! The food is always amazing and it comes out fast. Recently we came in with our daughter who is a little over a month old. The hostess was very accommodating and put us away from other customers and in a corner incase I needed to nurse her. Sexual harassment between staff members was blatantly obvious and clearly ignored. I stopped into the carry out section and at first observed just a bunch of employees standing around the entrance looking like they had nothing better to do but that part wasn't the issue. The issue was how I saw, what must've been a cook, that was touching the girl at the carry out station and actually attempting to kiss and molest her when it was extremely obvious that she did not want this attention whatsoever and it looked like she attempted to wave him away. I called later and spoke with a manager named "Joaquin" to notify him of this issue and he apologized profusely and informed me that he would "review" with the other managers of this issue. I do not believe this to be true because he was very quick to apologize and state that it would be reviewed at their next morning meeting and he was more concerned with employees standing around than the sexual harassment issues.
