I stopped in for brunch last Sunday with Meg M and we had a really fun experience! We tried a few different cocktails and started with avocado toast and poptart. The avocado toast is quite possibly the best avocado toast I have had! They make the focaccia bread fresh daily! For my main dish I had the shashuka and they prepared mine without cheese. It was tasty. The side of potatoes were prepared really well and the spicy marinara was so good. My friend had the steak and eggs and cacio e Pepe. We tried more cocktails and even got to try one of the special lion king drinks! All of the drinks were really creative! We ended with two different desserts. I really wanted to try the limoncello cake, and it was good but they also brought us the brown butter cake and WOW! That cake was sooooooo good! The bartender, server, and general manager were all wonderful and took really good care of us. I went once for dinner but with my dietary restrictions and their seasonal menu, I only had one pasta to eat. The pasta was good but now they have the option for a dairy free risotto at dinner! I'm sorry, but five stars isn't enough for Sarto! This was one of the most amazing dining experiences I have ever had! I went with Taylor S for brunch and i can honestly say the avocado toast there was the best ever and I can't get over how good the RAFIKI drink was. I hope they rename it and make it a permanent drink! We also tried the Italian pop tart which was so good and several brunch entrees from steak and eggs to pasta and more. If that wasn't enough, we tried two desserts and a whole bunch of cocktails. Everything was so good. We shall be going back to try their dinner menu and attend a special event soon enough. Alexis, Ashley and Meghan took great care of us from start to finish. Every drink, every bite, every question about allergies was carefully handled by the team! Dinner at Sarto was excellent from start to finish. The Yellowfin Tuna Crudo was fresh and bright, and the Burrata was perfectly creamy and balanced. The Pappardelle with Oxtail Ragù was rich and comforting, while the Cacio e Pepe was simple and done really well. We ended with the Butter Cake, which was warm, sweet, and the perfect finish. We went to Sarto before an event at PPAC. We told them we needed to make a 7 pm show and they were right on it. We shared a nice bottle of wine that was reasonably priced. Pasta dishes were prepared well and plentiful. A guest has a dairy allergy and they made sure she was take care of. We made the show with time to spare. It is very close to PPAC. read more

A great stop for restaurant week! I had the blueberry fields cocktail, which they used aquafaba in instead of egg white to make it foamy. It was still lightly creamy and tasted delicious, but nothing beats the creaminess of an egg white cocktail. The food was also very good. The tuna appetizer was a little small but tasted delicious with the citrus addition. The two pastas were also great. Unfortunately, they were out of both the butter cake and tiramisu for dessert, so we settled for other cake options. We will definitely be back to try the butter cake. We sat at the bar, and we got great service the entire night. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There was live jazz music, which was great for a Saturday night date night. It wasn't too loud though which I appreciated with live music.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We didn't make a reservation because we saw online that they had every time available. My wife and I went for the first time before a PPAC event. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is a nicely laid-out space. The tables have sufficient room around them, and the bar is large and spacious.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We sat at the bar like we usually do. Our server was cheerful and pleasant and gave good suggestions for cocktails and food choices. She crafted some great cocktails. They were very innovative, and they utilized some of their house-made infusions. We started with a burrata and beet salad, which was great. The burrata was sourced locally and had a lot of flavor. My wife had the lobster ravioli as an entree. The pasta was fresh, and there was plenty of lobster, which is not usually the case. It was also topped with two scallops that were very well prepared. I had the tenderloin special. It was quite large. I estimate you got an ounce of tenderloin. It was perfectly prepared to my liking and had a fabulous sauce as an accompaniment. It was paired with some of the most crunchy and fabulously prepared french fries. I thoroughly enjoyed it and ended up taking half of it home for lunch the next day. Lastly, I think the value was pretty good for the quality you received. I would give this place a try next time you are in Providence. read more

We went to SARTO for the New Year's Eve event for $320.00 (tip included...no drinks). There was a sold out crowd with a 4 course meal. Overall, the service and food was excellent. Definitely not worth the money, but it was New Year's Eve. We were expecting a little more from the Burlesque show and the DJ. The oysters were a 5/5 The pancetta wrapped scallop was a 4/5 The Zuppa De Vongole was a 5/5 The Braised Short Rib was a 5/5 The Seared Cod 2/5 (Burnt Rabe and sauce on the Cod tasted too much like tomato paste. The Salted Caramel Creme Brulee 5/5 Espresso Panna Cotta 4/5 We ordered some drinks off of the menu with dinner and they were all great wine choices with dinner. Drinks were charged separately. The staff really did a great job getting the food out and making the night enjoyable. I would definitely go back to Sarto on a regular night. This was on my list to take my daughter and my baby grandson to, since my last experience here. The service was wonderful, as was the cacio that my friend and I shared. The portion was large enough for the both of us. ( We had just come from an event next door, for which we had dressed up -like sequin gown dressed up!) My family and I are were greeted warmly,at the door and offered a high chair( we had a booster seat w us) and a place to park the stroller. The only snafu: My daughter offered to buy the drinks. I chose a wine, along with her because I thought it would be more financially palatable. WRONG!!! 2 glasses of a red blend wine totaled $68 ( pre-tip). I got the smaller pour of 6 and my daughter ordered the 8 oz pour.The meal, Ragu( off the chart DELICIOUS) and the broccolini (very tasty) which we shared, was under $60. Oh and focaccia was ordered. I just wished we had been forewarned of the cost. Yes prices are listed but we tasted a few different wines before settling on one. So we apparently lost track. Lesson learned. The manager, Ivan, came over and greeted us, which i appreciated it. What was amazing was he remembered me from my first visit and referenced my "silver dress". We went to Sarto last night and had a wonderful experience. We found a seat right away at the bar and were greeted by Gabrielle the bartender. The service was quick and the food was delicious. If you order anything, make it be the house made focaccia. The dipping oil has a little acidity from white balsamic that made the dish really fresh. I will give a warning that the food is RICH. I ordered with my heart and had to take a few things home because it was heavy. I can only walk by a restaurant on my daily hot girl walk so many times before my curiosity gets the best of me & I have to try it out. So, at long last, I tried Sarto Restaurant. Shotgun review: - Creative, moody, modern interior - High ceilings, so very echoey - Wonderful, accommodating staff* - Pretty cocktails, but not quite right** - Tasty crudo, but also not quite right*** - Gluten-free pasta alternatives & delicious ragu - Bathroom needs some TLC *From the jump, the staff was wicked friendly & accommodating. We wanted to sit at the bar, but there was a large party of folks standing around in just the right way so that there weren't two adjacent seats available. The bartender was fast as lightning, somehow getting two bar stools next to each other in just a few minutes. This bartender meant business & absolutely deserves praise & a raise. Thanks! After we ordered the crudo, another staff member came out to tell us there would be a delay on the order. No problem for us, really. We're certainly not picky like that & we weren't in a rush. But still, the sweet employee offered us bread to enjoy in the meantime. We declined, since I can't eat gluten. We suggested olives & she said, basically, "say no more!" & olives appeared in front of us within minutes. Thanks! **The cocktails were pretty to look at, but strange. I think the proportions were off on the "Absolutely Smashing Love" cocktail (mezcal, strawberry-basil shrub, lime) because it was wicked vinegar heavy. I get it, shrub, but it was definitely off. The rum punch was even stranger. A proportion disaster, I think. See my attached video & photo. It was a whole show, with an orange set aflame & nutmeg sprinkled over the fire. However, the result was about 2 oz of liquid. That CAN'T be right. It's listed on the menu as "big & tall" (figure of speech, I know) & "higher alcohol, bold flavors" but it wasn't any of those things. So 2 oz of liquid for $16 is definitely a miscalculation. We ordered it twice, for science, & the second came out just as strange as the first. ***The tuna crudo was tasty, but it was heavily seared. It was good, but a misrepresentation of crudo. All of that said, I would still come back. I think Sarto is best for a plate of pasta & a glass of wine. PS - A high life + campari CANNOT be $13. Get real. read more

We have walked past this restaurant several times during our many visits to PVD. Sarto is located on the corner of Dorrance and Weybosset Streets, close to the Arcade. The interior is very well designed. A bit of brick wall, high wooden ceilings with steel girders, clean lines of natural materials softened by white fabric curtains hung between the bar and dining area softly moving in a breeze from the open door. You can see the care used intentionally creating this space. A small balcony area is located above the dining room, overlooking the bar with a large window wall overlooking Weybosset Street to brighten the space. Used as an overflow dining area on busy nights, you can reserve this space for private parties. The food is also well curated. Many ingredients are sourced from Italy making for a more authentic tasting Italian meal. Courses are sized appropriately to the Italian way of dining. Enough to satisfy while leaving room for the courses to follow. Don't worry, you will *not* leave hungry! Most items are a fusion of Italian and American ingredients while adhering to the intent of the original Italian recipe. IMHO. I chose Sachetti from the Pasta menu. These are small 'bags' of pasta, stuffed with cheese and served in a squash puree. Think of a ravioli type pasta, but in the shape of a tiny drawstring bag. This was an excellent dish for me. The pasta is well cooked retaining it's integrity, making it possible to cut the sachetti in half and it holds it's shape. The sauce includes bits of apple, almonds and butternut squash. My dining companion chose the Pasta Al Pomodore. There is a gentle spiciness to this tomato sauce. Very appealing. The Tagliatelle is cooked a perfect al dente. Toothsome without leaving any 'raw' pasta in the middle. Needless to say, we both devoured our selections. This menu offers plenty of items I would definitely return to try. Scallops, Puttanesca, Ribeye, Panzanella. The broccolini on the antipasto menu looks good as does the Formaggio selection. Desserts include a local Gelato and three types of cake. The bar offers a large wine by the bottle menu, listed by type (red/white/dessert) and location (Italian Region/Domestic). Also available are a variety of Grappa, Amari and Cordials. Beginning to end you can start with Aperitivo and go through all the courses to dessert including the appropriate accompanying wine or liquor if you so choose. Or are hungry enough. The staff were all very friendly and professional. The food was well prepared, the recipes well crafted. I am very glad we stopped in to Sarto and look forward to our next visit. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Sarto. Their food is incredible and their staff are wonderful. I recently had my wedding reception here and they were AMAZING. They made the whole planning process incredibly easy (thank you, Carly!), were super accommodating with dietary restrictions/preferences, and just really went out of their way to make the day special. We got so many compliments from our guests about how good the food was. Several people said it was the best food they've ever had at a wedding. Truly, they made my spouse and I lifelong fans. You can't go wrong with anything on their menu, but the pesto e pollo, seasonal salad, blood orange spritz, and brown butter cake were our favorites. I would not hesitate to hold another private event here or just drop by for a night out. read more

I live near Sarto and have had dinner/bunch several times now. My latest experience was a recent Saturday evening. The service was not the best I have experienced. The cacio y pepe was my favorite pasta dish I've had in a while. Was my first time trying a scallop crudo, the flavors were great and it was a good dish but found out that's not really my thing (I'll stick to the tuna). Wine was also great. Service at the bar was great, and the prices were about what you'd expect to pay at a higher end place. We had a really fun dinner for 6 at Sarto. Our waitress and the rest of the staff really made the evening; they paid attention to us, kept our water full, and were very friendly. The focaccia was delicious and the dipping sauce (mix of garlic, Parmesan, olive oil, etc) was so good we almost licked the plate. Burata was pretty good and the pickled beets (on the sweet side) were an interesting counterpoint to the cheese. I had the farro risotto and it was really yummy and interesting. The texture mixture really worked well for me, and it had a deep cheese flavor that really made the dish. The fries with the steak were absolutely amazing. So nice and crispy on the outside, good texture inside and so delicious. I had a bite of the steak and it was decent but not that special. For dessert I had a scoop of raspberry and blood orange sherbet- so good! Nice balance of flavors, not too sweet. I feel this place is best enjoyed as a bar to enjoy something to eat and not a 'sit down restaurant'. I say this as they have a respectable wine and liquor menu with plenty of options. The menu is small and on a Saturday night there were no specials, it limited our options but we still managed to find something to eat. The good? The food was by and large delicious. Despite the limited selection, we were able to assemble a nice salumi board with focaccia, and a pair of pasta dishes to be the main course. The main courses were tasty as well. The bad? In one word - size. As noted, they have a respectable wine list. However, they only sell bottles. Next, the small menu limits your options. Normally not a bad thing, but I picked a dud in a dish of spaghetti squash puttanesca. The squash portion was tasty, but small. I had maybe 2 olives cut in 4 and 4-5 capers. Finally, the 'tuna' was cold and perhaps was pulled from a can that had been in the fridge - leftovers from a prior night? I would have enjoyed trying the dish with a bit more squash and canned tuna with sour olives and capers. My wife's dish of tagliatelle on the other hand was perfectly sized and all in all delicious. Went with a group, and we were excited to try this interesting restaurant. The food was very mixed. Some people found their dishes good, others more than lacking. Two people ordered the prime rib. One person's was good. The other had more fat than meat. Entree portions, except for the steak, ranged between small and tiny. One person ordered an overpriced rum punch, which broke the record for smallest drink ever. It had less in the glass than a whiskey neat. My vodka tonic was basically essence of vodka. Also no bread. They did charge us $30 for five or six servings of focaccia bread for which they didn't bring enough oil. We asked for more oil, plus we asked for butter. Neither came. For a group, they add a 20% tip and have the nerve suggest more. The waitress was nice, but this place is a total rip-off. read more

I had given it the benefit of the doubt, but the food is still overpriced for what it is and the restaurant clearly has some operational kinks that they need to work out. Waiter was great :) however- The scallops were mediocre, they forgot to add the potatoes to them, and were barely seared. The dish was 40 for that TINY portion. They did give us some money back for forgetting the potatoes. Burrata was okay. Cauliflower was very mediocre as well. Pasta was. 6/10 lacked pretty much any flavor. We then ordered gelato and waited 30 minutes for it, no joke. It didn't make much sense. Meanwhile staff was just sitting around. Nobody there really seemed to want to be there. It's sad because it's such a nice venue. I get that with COVID staff is low and finding staff is hard but nobody seemed trained there at all. 1. Improve your operations / staff communication 2. I came to Sarto with a few friends to celebrate a birthday. We were planning to sit indoors but it was absolutely boiling in there so we sat outside. Other than the occasional loud revving from those obnoxious motorcycle men, the weather and atmosphere were rather pleasant. I was surprised to see that the restaurant was not very crowded on a Friday night. We ordered the house focaccia and carbonara french fries to start as well as some cocktails (I tried the Garibaldi). The focaccia wasn't the best; I didn't think it had enough of a crunch on the top/edges. However, the french fries were delicious. For my entree I went with the Gigli al pesto with chicken. The pasta was incredibly fresh and had a tender texture with just enough bite to it. The pesto was nice and garlicky and the tomato confit provided the dish with the perfect amount of acidity. The meal went swimmingly up until dessert. We split the brown butter cake and chocolate cake. The former was great - it reminded me of the famously moist butter cake from California Pizza Kitchen. The loud traffic nearby is sadly just a result of their location.
