This was our favorite restaurant and we brought many out of town guests for their exceptional pasta and soft relaxing music. It's changed. The music was irritating and blaring and a request to play the normal music selections was ignored. I think it was the waiters first day as she knew nothing about the menu. Oh My Gosh People!!! Order the Nachos!!! Fried pasta sheets with pure deliciousness on top! And can we talk about the Alfredo sauce - oh my Lord Yum! Get that even if you don't have room for anything else after! We also ordered mains of Linguini Carbonara and Linguini Arrabbiata. The crispy mini bacon strips on the Carbonara were perfect! I added a little salt, pepper and Parmesan to it but just a personal taste preference - the carbonara itself is pretty spot-on to traditional. My roommate liked the Arrabbiata as well she said the spice was a "slow-burn" level, not abrupt. I'll be visiting here again in the near future to bring guests. It was outstanding. Meh. We were driving through Montana on our way home to Washington and decided we wanted something to sit down for a meal. Stopped in at Ciao Mambo. I was so excited to try the bread! Quickly found out they use fresh garlic on top of the bread and it basically burned all of our taste buds it was so strong. I ordered the manicotti and enjoyed it! Our favorite item was my sons kids menu bow tie pasta with butter! It wasn't great, wasn't the worst place I've ever eaten but I won't make another stop here. read more

In the case of Ciao Mambo, expectations truly lead to disappointment. I've tried visiting once before but the wait was interminable. I went recently and the wait was only 20 minutes. I wish I had spent that 20 minutes driving to another restaurant. My bruschetta was not toasted enough. My pasta with peas and pancetta was under seasoned. My dining partner had the pasta in vodka sauce which was very bland. The restaurant gets very crowded, why? So it gets very loud and difficult to hold a conversation. Service is adequate at best. This is not the restaurants fault, what happened to a dress code, but I have a problem with restaurant patrons showing up dressed as if they just finished a float trip on the river. C'mon folks, have some decorum and show up in something other than ratty clothes. Overall I don't know why people find the food or the dining experience at Ciao Mambo so good. We were a group of 10 and felt fortunate to get a reservation the same day. James, the server was great. He was gracious in handling all our requests. I tried the spaghetti and meatballs, which was mediocre. Another diner had the linguini which came with only 6 small clams. The great was excellent and I would have liked some dipping oil or butter. The restaurant was very noisy and loud. I will give this another try because of the many good reviews. read more

The Alfredo Alla Rustica was incredible with both shrimp and chicken and the sauce and bread was to die for. Disappointing. Not sure how you mess up spaghetti and meatballs. For starters, it's not spaghetti. When my dish of linguini and meatballs arrived the waiter informed me that there was no mistake - they serve spaghetti. Huh?! He said, its probably misnamed on the menu. If I had known it was linguini, I wouldn't have ordered it. What Italian restaurant lists spaghetti on the menu, but doesn't serve spaghetti? The meatballs were over cooked and dry. They tasted like cardboard. Photo of my linguini and meatballs below: My daughter had the eggplant parmesan. It was swimming in sauce and cheese. It was more like fondue. Well after3 years of driving from out of town to go to dinner at Ciao Mambo's, we ended up with a disappointing meal..my husband had the linguine and meatballs, and the meatballs were burnt..not to mention the pasta came out to our table 10 minutes before the meatballs came..they should come out together. I had the pollo con formaggio, and it was just ok, but the chicken was dry...and we waited an hour after ordering our food til it was served. This was a whole different experience for us here, as we always had Excellent food and service in the past. This is why we would drive 3 hours to have dinner here and pay for a hotel to stay over and go home the next day. Not everything was bad, though..to be fair, the hostess and our server were great, but they didn't cook the food. our server did offer to get new meatballs for my husband but we'd already waited a long time as it was so he declined that. Not sure we'll be back because it looks like things have changed ..so we shall see. read more

Fabulous food, good service. Quite long line to get in...Friday night. I've visited Ciao in Whitefish and it is also fabulous food with a long wait line. The line is long because the food is excellent. The Italian nachos...a salad... who needs an entree. Get one anyhow and take it home with you, it's just as good reheated! We drive 30+ miles to come here on a Sunday night because their website said open daily at 5 pm We arrived early and waited outside for over 15 mins. We saw 2 women go inside the back at 4:58. We thought they must be running behind on opening. We waited 7 more minutes. 2 other sets of families also waited outside the door with us. The ladies then left the side door and never acknowledged us. I asked " are you not opening?" She said " no" I said "your sign and website says open daily" she goes "yeah, because of covid" as she got in her car and left. it's sept 2022. ‍ Very rude. Never apologized to the families or us. A bunch of my friends and I were in town for the Missoula Marathon and we all came here for a pre-race carbo-loading meal. There was a good number of us and they were able to split the check for everybody. I ordered the small version of their Santo Pietro pizza with shrimp. I had a couple glasses of the Shooting Star Syrah to go with the pizza. The pizza was a bit on the salty side but all in all the food was great and the service was excellent! Nearby parking was somewhat hard to find. You have to drive a few blocks to find some street parking. I'm thinking the lack of parking was because they had a weekend block party in that area. I would recommend making reservations. My friend that set the dinner up made a reservation and we didn't have to wait too long to be seated. The place was packed! read more

Wow! Came to the city to visit and aimed to eat nothing but local and found this place. We had a small wait but nothing major, some time to check out other stores around the block. The waitress was amazing, answered all our questions and gave some well taken suggestions. The garlic bread appetizer was uber delicious (finally a place that doesn't shy from the garlic part of garlic bread). The two main entrees were not only beautiful but of course delicious as well. Sun dried tomato penne was loaded with tomatoes, tender chicken and a nice light garlic oil "sauce." The carbonara was rich, thick and creamy and was hard not to just finish right then and there. This is taking into consideration that I'm eating Italian in Montana. If I were East coast, 4 stars. Price is good and food is very good. I love Eggplant Parm and they have it, so I ordered it. It was quite good. Ceasar was good (never had mushrooms and black olives in a Ceasar before). The soup of the day was very good and a huge bowl of it, Sausage Orso (spicy). I went here with 2 other people. We waited 45 minutes for a table. I was thinking to myself that I'm in for a treat. This is a popular place! The restaurant had a nice vibe. The waitstaff was amazing. The garlic bread with fresh roasted garlic on top is to die for if you love garlic as much as I do. I had a nice glass of red wine as I waited for my food to be ready. My friends ordered calamari and were not impressed. Our food arrives, and we are excited to chow down. The kitchen had messed up two of our 3 orders. The waitress had turned in our order correctly. The kitchen made the mistake. Our waitress offered to replace the items as to go meals and let us keep the ones that were made incorrectly. I finished the night with an amazing slice of tiramisu. Disgusting excuse for "Authentic Mountain Italian" (I mean, even that description alone sounds a bit like a euphemism, no?) Ordered bruschetta and lingune alle vongole here a few months ago and got pico on greasy bread, bland pasta covered in either sand, salt, dirt, or some unholy combo of the three, and some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Our opinions were literally denied by our server, who insisted that the clams didn't taste the way we said they tasted... Had to visit GILD afterwards (a few doors down, much better) to eat something digestible. Took my wife here for the evening- been here many times, and am continuously impressed. We started the night off with fried mozzarella balls and the tootsie rolls which were absolutely delicious. The bread was to die for, quite frankly the best bread I've had. I got the lulubella, and wife got the pasta revenna. No complaints whatsoever. Everything was on point. We ended the night off with the zeppoles. They were perfect when accompanied with the raspberry sauce. The caramel sauce was ok. The service was great, fast, kind, and attentive.
