To begin, I'd like to dispel all the one star reviews by saying that the owners are pleasant people who ask often more than once how the food was, and take feedback well. Also, the tiramisu is great and NOT watery at all, it is thick and made traditionally. It is non-alcoholic if I am not mistaken. The pasta is cooked perfectly at the time of order. If you do not eat it immediately after ordering, it could steam and become softer than al dente. You may ask for the pasta to be cooked how you prefer it, softer or chewier. Ordering chewier allows the pasta to continue to cook in the sauce while you get to where you are going to eat. They have a do it yourself ordering system, but the cook is always letting people know to ask questions if they have them. The food is a work of art, every time. Everything is handcrafted and well made. I have never in my life had pasta made with as much care and love. It has inspired me to buy a pasta maker and make pasta by hand at home. This business is a gem in this area, and deserves to be recognized as such, and patroned by those who enjoy Italian food. You will not regret it. read more

We were traveling through the area and chose Ciao based on Yelp. Good choice! The food is delicious but I could not eat my entire portion. Hubby finished his. The homemade pasta and sauces are cooked to order and you can tell they are! It's a bit of a fast food ambiance but food prep takes a little longer since everything is cooked to order. The taste is worth the wait! We finished with cannolis. Yummy! Probably the best I've ever had since the shell was still crispy! Only negative was that it was a little too warm inside but not a huge deal. There is also outside seating. We liked that the forks and food containers are eco-friendly. Breakfast | Lunch | Dinner Come for espresso and pastries as early as 8:30am or stop in for a pasta or panini for lunch or dinner. You can order at the kiosk at the counter (two available). When choosing a pasta dish, 1) select one of their sauce options (all are perfect as-is) 2) choose a pasta style 3) you can add extras but simple is best. We got the Toscana with Casarecce pasta and the Cacio & Pepe with shrimp added; both were delicious, "back in Italy" delicious. The sauce was perfect, portion was large, and the pasta was noticeably fresh. The ambiance is casual but the food is top-tier quality. The price is unbelievable for fresh made pasta. The kiosk was easy enough to order from and service time is fast but during peak lunch and dinner times expect longer times because they make everything per order. They opened in September and have grown quickly. Owned by a true Italian family that focus on quality. When you visit, you'll notice some Italian products on a high shelf in the kitchen, the items can be purchased. We got a pistachio Panettone for New Year's Day (an Italian tradition). Great food. Great coffee. Great people. We encountered some folks from Gaithersburg that found it online and stopped in. They said they would make a special trip back just to get more pasta. We stopped while traveling home from DC. We were greeted by the owner, food is ordered from a kiosk type iPad set-up. The pasta is made fresh daily, the owner is from Italy and produces the most delicious authentic dishes and homemade tiramisu. Our pasta dishes were made fresh to order. Good size portions. This was pasta tossed in oil with meat and no sauce. The taste was decent but literally the amount of oil made us sick. Its 4am and I am up writing this review because my stomach hurts. My 10 yr old also said it was too much oil. Not expecting to feel ill we ate most of it but we both stopped eating it bc it started to feel like thick oil in your mouth. The picture I posted was when I stopped eating. My daughter had more left. I didn't want to waste my $. Literally almost no actual SAUCE. My wife found out about this restaurant on Facebook. It had good reviews and Italian food is one of our favorite foods, so we decided to give it a try. It is a very small restaurant with about a half dozen tables or so, with each table seating about four people. The menu is limited but offers delicious options. The pasta is made fresh daily and in house. The pasta is prepared aldente right in front of customers. It was interesting to see the food being prepared on small heat plates and not on commercial stoves/ovens. However, it did not affect the flavor of the dishes. The dishes were served in disposable bowls and plastic utensils. The restaurant is owned and operated by a husband and wife team. Both were very friendly and easy to talk to. The husband is from Italy and shared with us how he lived in The Bronx, New York like myself. He also spoke Spanish fluently. While this may not be a fancy restaurant, the food more than makes up for it. I definitely recommend giving this place a try. read more

When I arrived, it was very disrespectful! The tiramisu I ordered was watery-- disappointing, it being the only thing I ordered. I was greeted with an attitude when waiting for my order. The owner disrespectful talked towards me. It is a very pleasant shop, and smells appetizing. I'm sure the food is good based on reviews, but I will not be coming back. Omg. The best homemade pasta outside of Italy. I'm Italian and struggle to find decent pizza and pasta outside of our own that we make at home. We drove an hour to get here and can't wait to return. Owners are Italian and pasta is all made there. The casarecce bolognese was incredible; large chunks of meat and incredible flavor. Even the bread that came with the pasta was some of the best I've ever had. Cannolis are filled when you order so shells were nice and crisp. Drink selection is good with imported drinks from Italy. Cerelia mineral water is always a winner. My husband tried it for the first time and was surprised at its slight sweetness. Totally different than German mineral water. Besides the bolognese, we ordered arranccini, cannoli, and nduja fusilloni. The nduja fusilloni had great spice and the cannoli were filled when ordered so the shells were crisp. My husband never had arranccini before and devoured three of the four we were given. Owners greeted everyone and chatted a bit. 100% worth the drive and hope to return for more visits. read more

This is authentic Italian food people. The casarecce pasta with Rosa sauce was so tasty I wanted to lick the eco friendly bowl. Equally tasty were the arancini tradizionale. Lightly breaded and delicately fried with an attention to detail on the presentation. This is not fast food so be patient and respect the process you will not be disappointed. Treat yourself to an affogato appetizer! My daughter and I shared the pasta and arancini and we each had an affogato. It was $35 and we had leftovers to bring home. I am giving this establishment a 5, because of the quality of the meal, which outshines the rest, but I do have some issues. First the good: this was the tastiest pasta I have had for ages. A great selection of pasta shapes, beautifully cooked, al dente, and served immediately. The two sauces we chose were also delicious. The a la carte approach of building your meal with different combinations of vegetables, meats, and cheeses is interesting and allows tailored dishes. And a nice side of warm bread too-- also nice. The staff, which seemed to be family+, rather than chain or corporate, were very pleasant, and very competent. Such an earnest, delicious eatery deserves to be successful. The downside: zero ambiance. The lighting is harsh, the tables very basic, the ordering has no human contact, and the serving ware (foil serving pods, wooden utensils) feels like you're in an aircraft. For those dining in, it would be really nice to have a little tablecloth, basic plates, and real silverware. I would gladly pay some more when dining in just to feel more comfortable.
