As far as ORD food for Vegans Cibo is great. Several shelves of Vegan options, my favorite is the vegan Jerusalem steak sandwich. Great taste, filling, and lower calories then many airport food offerings. Some things are over priced, as expected in an airport, but for vegetarians/vegans this is a great option. There are a few locations throughout the terminals, but I frequently visit the one by the "G" gates, next to Argo tea. read more

I can't sing the praises of this wonderful little shop enough. I have odd health issues and my body always feels doubly terribly after 6 hours of travel I know I hate putting deep fried starchy food in my belly for another 4 hours. Yuck. I thought I knew all the food shops at O' Hare but on my way to Wicker Park I took a chance on what I assumed was a newspaper stand. I was immediately taken aback and impressed with the healthy snack, fruits, Mediterranean items and green choices. Best selection of carry-on food at O'Hare. Thanks to Andrea H's Yelp review of Cibo Gourmet Market, I went looking for this little place at O'Hare Terminal 3. It's tucked in a corner of the American terminal, on the level with the departure gates, way over toward Terminal 2, but still inside the security area. Rather than eat the horrid food offered on the airline, you can get some almost edible sandwiches, a better selection of snacks, and a much better selection of drinks. Egg salad on whole wheat sounded a lot better than the airline choices, even though it was still a factory-line slapped-together shrink-wrapped sandwich. It still tasted good on the plane a few hours later. The shop is poorly laid out, with a narrow aisle by the coolers where anyone with a roller bag can't get through. But it's still the best choice at O'Hare for carry-on food. read more

This was my best kept secret as a platinum member of AA until I saw it on Yelp. Oh well. Let's all share in its greatness. Thanks Andrea for posting. It's definitely worthy of another fine review!! I always make a stop there when it's open (usually my flight is at some ungodly hour like 6am and it's not open yet). They have the healthy choices like veggies and dip, cheese and crackers, hummus and crackers. They also have the hard-to-find-because-they're-european candies. They also are the only ones at ORD to sell Fiji and SMART water. I pay more for a healthy selection but it's definitely worth it. Cibo is to other ORD markets/restaurants as Whole Foods is to grocery stores - a gift from the Food Gods. Get my drift? I love it here and I know that you will love it too! What I appreciate about this quick food option is the selection. This is the only place at the airport I've ever seen vegan gourmet available. They also have tons of snack foods, sandwiches, salads, drinks, etc. Downside is the outrageous prices (it is a major airport after all) and they tend to run out of things by evening time. It can be a little hard to find unless you happen to be walking by. Located between terminal 1 and 2, it's in a hallway area along with two sit-down dinning options and randomly enough a MAC store. read more

Yes - a small market store in a very large airport - why review it? I was stuck in O'Hare for almost 4 hours yesterday and was not really in search of food (I ate in DCA prior to flying to ORD). However, while bouncing from tv to tv watching college football from concourse K to concourse G, I noticed this market and immediately, my favorite iced tea bottle - ito en Teas Tea jasmine green! Yes, it was way overpriced but since it was a D in the R (a diamond in the rough) in a big, lonely airport, I was elated! The cashier was very friendly and I cheerily purchased my tea to get me through the long wait and second flight home. There were so many other things to get at this little market, including snacks and small meals that looked like a range from healthy to gourmet. read more

For airport food, this place is great. There are tons of healthy options both packaged and prepared food. My favorite thing is the vegan eggplant parmesan (they are frequently out of it though...). I actually didn't eat it once and brought it home and my husband devoured it. I told him it was vegan and he couldn't believe it. I have also gotten sushi here and it's very good. I try to go every time I'm in terminal 3 at O'Hare vs. other spots. It is definitely pricey, but it's not really any more expensive than anywhere else in the airport. 102/365 read more

I always find time to swing by here when I go through Ohare. I usually fly a combo of Alaska/American, so it's often on my way when changing planes. If it isn't, I will go far out of my way to get to Cibo. Why? I'm a vegan and finding vegan options while flying is tough. As someone else said, this place is an oasis. Well done. read more

After a weekend in Chicago for a wedding that quickly turned into a college reunion party I was desperate for veggies and serious nutrients. Looked all over and found this place had the best selection of fresh fruits, proteins, salads, sandwiches, and some really great hippie stuff! Bought a Naked juice, root veggies, and probiotic yogurt drink for $11. They also have coffee and some unhealthy things!... Lots of gluten free options. read more

Amazing vegan sandwiches! The Jerusalem sandwich is unbelievable. My boys prefer the buffalo tofu. Any time something claims to be "Buffalo" it is usually just stupid hot. I left Vegan Husband on the jet bridge of our plane to claim both pieces of luggage while I hustled over to scope out the tortas I'd been thinking about for days. (I miss urban dining scenes OKAY) As I pictured him struggling to pull two suitcases behind him I started to feel guilty, plus he hates when restaurants rely too heavily on mushrooms to make a sandwich vegan. (Portabellos suck, admit it.) So I turned around to meet him in the terminal and thought of ways to break it to him that he might not be eating dinner. That's when I spotted the Cibo market. Some unexplainable force started pulling me toward the refrigerated section in the back. The options were overwhelming, if you're a vegan used to finding nothing. Tabbouleh salad, Singapore noodles with chikn (extra soy, hold the vowels), faux Steak wrap, Teriyaki noodles with the aforementioned chikn. Prices weren't bad either - between $9-$12. I'm so glad we found this spot, conveniently located between the G and K concourses. I was able to enjoy my choriqueso torta guilt free (except for the animal suffering). I found Cibo right next door to Argo Tea at O'Hare Airport. I was floored that they had vegan selections in Chicago, the land of meat and cheese and more cheese. Picked up some really zippy buffalo tofu which came with sliced carrots and a ranch style dressing made by SV restaurant. Really good! Also bought some hummus and chips and stood drooling at all the other wonderful goodies in the store. read more

I really like this place. Mostly because they have a huge selection of many different types of food. You can walk down any terminal and find a McDonald's, Starbucks, Chili's To-Go, and Great American Bagel. This place has vegetarian options to deli staples. I picked up a Pastrami on Marble Rye, small Waldorf Salad, and a diet Mt. Dew. there were easily 10 sandwiches to choose from as well as snacky things, wraps etc. Good food! read more

I spend a lot of time in the "B" gate area---and am always wishing for a healthy place to eat. I know I've passed Cibo, but thought it was just another sugary snack/newstand type of place. Today I went in just to look----wow! This is like a mini-natural food store. I'm not much for pre-made food in the airport, never know how long it's been there, or if it's soggy, but the tofu wrap sandwiches looked pretty good. Hummus, with natural ingredients, unflavored yogurt, healthy chips, it's a haven in a junk food world! Food Should Taste Good Olive chips and Chobani plain yogurt---chips and dip for a purist. This places is similar or better than many others like it in Europe, airport or downtown. Try the many food pastries, or mini sandwiches, and finish with an apple tart which is the real deal. I had one of the drinks from the bottom row and it was amazing. Congratulations for bringing this kind of place into the land of the food courts. read more

I bought over $20 of food and checked out. Went to reach for a plastic bag to put the food in and they said it was seven cents. Since I did not have change I would have to break a large bill or put a 7cent charge on credit. Really not a plastic bag after a purchase. Will never stop there again and I travel thru the airport a lot. read more
