I'm gonna start by saying this place has really great service but the food really just didn't do it for me. I wanted to like it so I came back a second time, but honestly, it lacks flavor even in the bread...everything was bland and the noodles had a very unusual texture both times...One of my pastas almost seemed like they were Ramen noodles. She has such a warm demeanor, she made us feel special, even though we were just picking up food from the counter. My friend and I were in the area and we were craving fire stoned cooked pizza. We saw this restaurant many times driving by and thought we would give it a try. The 1st thing we noticed when walking in was the the elaborate bar and behind that a guy hand tossing pizza dough. The fire stone oven was brightly decorated and situated behind the bar which was in the center of the resturant. We got seated quickly by the window and greeted by our server Trevor. He was attentive and very friendly. We ordered the octopus salad for an appetizer. It was an arugula based salad with fried potatoes, octopus, lemon and olive oil and it was delicious. The octopus was cooked perfectly, it had a slight char and was very tender. I would definitely order this again. We then got the Bianca pizza. Wow! It was listed on the specials menu and it was delicious! The crust was cooked perfectly. It had a slight crunch and a little chew to it. The toppings were good quality and consisted of smoked prosciutto, roasted portobello mushrooms, onion jam, gruyere, mozzarella, parmesan and pea shoots. Overall we thought this place was great. The menu looked amazing and I would love to go back to try more items. read more

Just tried this place for the first time via doordash. Got a margherita pizza and an eggplant spaghetti. The food has flavor and the portions are generous but boy is it SALTY. Took one bit of pizza and pasta and all I could taste was salt. Not sure if it's always like that but whoever is making that marinara needs to chill. Couldn't finish the food unfortunately because I could hear my kidneys screaming for help. read more

Phenomenal! The atmosphere, service and food were spot on! We were a party of 4 adults and ordered family style so we could taste a little of everything. We ordered the special cheese plate that came with flat bread, 4 different cheeses and fig jam. We also ordered grilled peppers, Caesar said, pizza and pasta. We also brought our own wine which they corked for us for a small fee. Oh and we tried the olive oil cake-so good. None of us could complain about anything. I have ordered delivery from Cibo several times. The quality of the food has ranged, but overall it's pretty decent. However, a couple nights ago they made a conscientious decision to lose a customer. I placed an order for a pizza and salad to be delivered via Grubhub. When checking on the estimated delivery time, I learned that the restaurant decided to cancel the pizza and simply sent salad- without attempting to reach me to provide to provide an update as well as to see if I wanted to change or cancel my order. Unfortunately, I found this out after they closed. Apparently they don't understand that usually a pizza is a main meal to serve multiple people, and a salad ordered on the side is not sufficient. I contacted Grubhub and they offered to refund the order, even though the driver was already in route with the single salad. I elected to cancel the order out of principle, but made sure that the original tip was still provided to the driver. It seems wildly unfair that they'd cancel the order due to poor restaurant practices (they stated the restaurant should have called me), thus wasting the driver's time and income earning potential. Grubhub apparently did not reach the driver in time, as the salad was just left at my doorstep. On it, was the note saying "No mods, sry", which I didn't see until this morning. It seems snobbish to put that note and and not call. It's been over a year of learning how to do delivery well. I'm still waiting to see if I get charged for any of it- the salad I refused but received or the tip I insisted be processed. read more

Cibo has a great space. It has an inviting bar area with a pizza oven and open kitchen. Large windows along the street also give good light to the dining areas. The food is very solid. It's definitely pasta/pizza heavy, but since moving here from NY I've come to realize that's what Italian food is to most Americans. The restaurants here are giving people what they want. Italian food=pasta/pizza apparently. On that note, Cibo is a great choice for consistently solid quality food. It has a nice atmosphere as well and the service is very good. This has become one of the restaurants on my family's rotation. read more

Cibo is one of my favorite places to get Italian food. Every time I'm here, I go for the wild mushroom ravioli. Just writing about it is making my mouth water. This place is on the pricey, but every food dish has been good here. Their pepperoni pizza isn't your typical pepperoni. It is chunks of meat rather than slices and they are very tasty. The only down side to Cibo is that the pizza isn't pre-cut, so they give you a big pair of scissors to cut it, and the Cesar salad isn't already cut, you have to cut the sheets of romaine. The cocktails here are also tasty. Quite strong, but good nonetheless. I'd recommend Cibo if you want to have a nice meal. I wouldn't say this place is casual dining, but it isn't necessarily the fanciest place- it's just right in between. read more

Very impressed with this place ! I ordered a Margherita pie, which is my go to pie, often. It was so good, perfectly balanced, the sauce though... they got that right ! not an easy task, crust was charred perfectly and had a nice crunch to it, but was pliable as well. This is a must order, if you're on the fence on what to get. Caesar Salad was a nice surprise as well, not over salted, like most places tend to do these days. Cannoli, ok..my personal weakness.. this one was really, really tasty, with a slight hint of orange and the shell was memorable. All & All, I will definitely order from this place again, over and over again. Not sure I will order anything else off that menu though.. I think I would just repeat this one. read more

My friends & I went there for my birthday. Not only was the food AMAZING but we had a great waiter as well. I highly recommend the Pasta Pollo, Pizza del Figo, Polenta fries, and the Cesar salad. Tried their Pizza Bianca and it was DIVINE. The flavor was on point. We loved all the ingredients and how well they come together. The marinated mushroom was something else and it worked perfectly with the slightly cooked proscuitto and aged mozzarella cheese. What also really stood out to us was how thin their pizza was! It was thinner than the cheese layer and yet it was chewy and soft. Although, the only downside of a super thin dough is that the pie gets cold super duper fast but that can be easily fixed by popping those glorious slices into the oven for a few minutes. Nothing beats warm pizza slices, trust me. We also tried the Polenta Fries which stayed super crunchy throughout our journey home. The flavor was very unique to polenta. Personally, I didn't think it was anything to rave about but still a fair dish! Order was super fast and staffs were very friendly. Our Champagne & various Italian whites were perfect. The Chanterelle Mushroom & Speck Pizza is like no pizza I've ever had. Thin chewy crisp crust. This explains the long line to pick up carry-outs. The Chicken Scallopini was a little bland but very nicely done, just not our thing. DESSERT: Olive Oil Cake & Pistachio Gelato. My family took me here for a belated birthday and it was sensational! I had a raspberry infused lemon drop martini that was SO GOOD I nearly lost my mind. After that it was a party for sure! The salads were fabulous and on point. I am a salad lover, so this was heaven for me. The pastas were also good. I didn't order any pasta, but since it was my birthday, my kids were spoiling me and giving me tastings of all the gorgeous dishes they ordered. Each of the pastas were sublime in their own right. They gave me a complimentary dessert for my birthday - I chose the lemon scented olive oil cake with dense whipped cream. My kids said we had to get the tiramisu also because it was so incredible. Sheer timing and luck delivered us to this delightful establishment for dinner. My sister, daughter and I ordered different tasty dishes and felt that the mushroom ravioli and spaghetti and meatballs were perfection! The beef ragu came in 3rd but was delicious as well. Their caesar salad is one of my favorites in town. It's perfect. Also love their pizza. Ingredients are all top notch.

Unfortunately, Cibo is only doing takeout at this time. We still ordered a few things in order to enjoy some of the most recommended Italian food in Portland! The mushroom ravioli was phenomenal. What amazing flavor! We ordered the rib ragu, but I believe we received some kind of spaghetti and meatballs. Very unfortunate, because I was excited to try the other pasta. The spaghetti was very good, and the noodles were perfectly cooked. They were quite stretchy and reminiscent of my favorite ramen noodles. Yum! The Caesar salad left a little bit to be desired. The salad was basically a bunch of full spears tossed in dressing. There were also several whole romaine hearts in the salad as well. I am not sure if this is some special kind of technique, but I have never had any Caesar salad like that. To top it all off, we got a margherita pizza. The pizza was pretty good. Nothing special, but not bad. Overall, the experience seemed a bit underwhelming. Unfortunately, we are just visiting, so we may not have another opportunity to try this location out. It's unfortunate, because I know how difficult it is to judge food based on take-out. However, there were some mistakes that seemed quite egregious, given the circumstances. read more

One word right up front for those of you who are attention challenged: S A L T ! ! ! ! ! The pizza was much too salty, and less tomato tang than I'm used to getting. I ordered sausage on it, and needed to bust out the microscope to find it. :P Another thing is that i ordered via Grub Hub. I don't think the driver was slow...i think the thin crust pie doesn't travel well because by the time it got here it was cold and the cheese was hard. I enjoyed the fried chicken strips, though. the batter was pretty decent! yay! read more
