We were having friends over, and instead of cooking, we thought we'd take it easy and order out. First I tried Woodlands Cafe which is usually pretty good and fairly priced, but their phone number was out of service. I called Cibo Thai and realized their prices were double, for instance only 4 spring rolls cost the same as 8 somewhere else. But I had company and was in a bind. We got our food home from and they had barely filled the to go containers half full, so there wasn't enough for us all to eat. And what there was, wasn't any good. It was completely flavorless, as if it had come out of a can - not freshly cooked Thai food by a stretch. The food is nothing unusual. Having said that, what thai food is extraordinary? The place seem to be run by a Thai as opposed to Chinese- Have more Thai flavor instead of Chinese dishes acting like Thai food. The food is clean. Never had any problems after eating here. It's a hole in the wall. However, there no redeeming qualities that go with this place. We order many salads and entrees trying to stick with all authentic Thai food variety as had noticed walking in that the clientele was a bit Haole, which is a never a good sign. But trusting other Yelpers's rating, I decided to stay. Mistake! Curry came out with very little, errrhhh, curry. Coconut milk which is supposed to but my curry presented no taste in there. Don't know where it went. Instead, they used chili powder which was noticeable because there were a lot of it everywhere and not just in the curry. Did I mention there really was not that much curry in a curry dish? Everything seemed like a Chinese fried wok dish tossed up and down in some kind of concoction of chillie powder, vegetable oil, and tiny bit of curcumin. Angela and her staff do a great job providing delicious Thai and Chinese food at very reasonable prices. The panang, pad Thai, basil fish, kung pao, prik king, and yellow curry, are all wonderful, and the kitchen does a great job tailoring the spice to your preference. This was our first time ordering from here because we wanted to support small business but I think it will be our last. The food was tasty but the portions were too small for the amount we paid. They skim on the meat. It's mostly all veggies or sauce, very disappointing. I was humiliated since I ordered for dinner with my parents. I even ordered double of our faves thinking one wouldn't be enough, glad I did but imagine my surprise when I popped a lid off the Prik King Beef and literally found 4 sliced pieces of beef. This is a great little restaurant. The food is great, the service is great, and the owner is so nice - she remembered us after the first time we ate there. WOW!!! Just picked up take out from Cibo and we are so impressed!!! My boyfriend for the Pad Thai with chicken and I got Glass Noodle Pad Thai with shrimp and both were both amazing!!! Next time I will go with the classic Pad Thai, but since I'm such a huge fan of glass noodles I just had to try it!! I was not disappointed!! Great service and delicious food!!! Way over priced for portion size, just ok food (beef was very chewy in beef with cashews, almost no chicken in our sweet in sour chicken) and it took them over an hour to get our "to go" order done. She told us half an hour then when we came back 35 minutes later it took another half hour for the order to be ready. Won't be coming back. read more

Don't come here if you're hungry. The portions are a joke. Also, if you have kids expect to be treated as 2nd class citizens by the rude waitress/owner. I asked for an extra plate and she basically threw it on the table. We asked ahead of time if the amount of food was enough and she assured as that the portions are substantial. Cibo Thai is one of those little gems that would be killing it in a better location. What this means is that to save on overhead there is no wait staff. Angela runs the place pretty much on her own with her partner helping in the kitchen when it gets crazy. What does this mean for you? It means that on a busy night you may walk in and find a table or two that haven't been bussed yet, and you might wait a few minutes before Angela comes to take your order, but it also means that the same wonderful woman taking your order is also making your food! So when she asks you how it is she genuinely wants to make sure that you're enjoying your meal there. And did I mention how good the food is?! Her Pad Thai is some of the best I've had in LA and the spicy basil chicken is an absolute winner. I've never been disappointed or ordered something I didn't like here, and I find myself either wandering in or ordering takeout at least once a week from here. If it's in season make sure to try to coconut sticky rice with mango for dessert! read more

I love Thai food but this place was kind of lacking in the authentic Thai flavor that I'm used to. The yellow curry was great however the potatoes were way undercooked . The pad see ew was whatever , the larb was ehhh, combination fried rice mediocre , overall kind of disappointed . I prefer the larb at Sala Thai on Rosemead blvd in san Gabriel it's so delicious . I've eaten at several Thai spots , Saladang, SalaThai, Thai Paradise, and three Thai spots in Arcadia and out of all the Thai restaurants I've ever been to this one left me sadly still hungry with a thumbs down because when I don't like something ... I ordered chicken pad thai, crispy veggie roll appetizer and a Thai iced tea. The food was served quickly and was good. I don't eat a lot at one sitting and there was enough for another meal. Cibo Thai has the yummiest Thai food around--and it also the most reasonably priced. Sister owners Angela and Coke are a terrific combo. Coke cooks up the incredibly fresh Thai food and Angela charms all the guests. Some of my favorites are the Yum Yai salad, ginger fish, kung pao chicken and the eggplant mushroom! This is the only Thai restaurant I go to. Cibo is AMAZINGGGG!!! Not only is the food incredible but the owners are the sweetest people. You can tell that everything they make is made with care and fresh ingredients. I've been to some other Thai restaurants around the area and nothing quite compares to Cibos flavors. 10/10! I normally get the yellow curry soup with noodles but everything I've tried there has been a home run. read more

Small little Thai place in Montrose. Not a place for large groups. We went on a Saturday afternoon. We were the only ones there. We were greeted and sat quickly. We ordered and the lady serving us didn't really check on us much after that. She came by once to refill water and then disappeared to the back but that was fine by us. If you're the type of person that it bothers you that the server isn't always checking on you, perhaps this isn't the place for you. The food came in a timely manner.
