BS tiny serving of noodles for the [PREMIUM PHO] Oxtail
    Andrew L.

"Pretty disappointing experience with Pho Season. Ordered the "premium" oxtail pho for takeout and there was nothing premium about it. The bowl barely had any noodles in it -- and noodles are the cheapest ingredient, so it felt cheap to skimp out on them, especially when you're paying around $25 (DoorDash) and still leave hungry. The food also took way too long to come out. Overall, the portions, quality, and service didn't justify the price at all. I'll be taking my business elsewhere since there are plenty of better pho spots around.

9/01/2025: We had a long drive from Altadena to Santa Clarita, and we were hungry. Decided to stop for dinner in LaCañada and Yelp brought me to Pho Season. Bonus points for being open on Labor Day! It's a simple shop.. looks like it was a little sushi bar once upon a time. They have decor in what used to be the countertop sashimi refrigerators! The front of the house looks clean, and we were greeted and seated by a friendly woman upon our arrival. There were several tables filled which was a good sign! Interesting menu. This place isn't what I'm used to from a typical Vietnamese restaurant. None of the menu items had any Vietnamese names attached and the Cha Gio crispy egg rolls that are pictured in the upper left hand side of the menu aren't available . Huh? I asked if the egg rolls offered with the Pho combo were cha gio and she said "we don't have that". I pointed to the picture on the menu to confirm and she said nope, we don't sell those. . She offered basic wonton wrapped egg rolls instead; but I passed and changed my order. Hubby chose the Sesame Chicken from the "Special Menu" section. They're nice little chicken bites and the plating is attractive! A cute green salad and a couple of fried wontons. The chicken itself tastes like something I could buy frozen at Costco and stick in the air fryer. It didn't taste bad... but it wasn't standout or memorable, either. They feature quite a few "non-Vietnamese" dishes like teriyaki, stir fry and bulgogi on their menu. Fusion! I decided to try the Pho Tai. With 5 red stars next to it on the menu, it had to be good! it's their signature beef pho broth with rare steak. It comes with the meat already in the broth so if you really like it rare, request that it be served on a plate. They provided a generous helping of thinly sliced onions, cilantro, slices of jalapeño and bean sprouts and a sprig of Thai basil. No culantro, spicy or lemon mint but that could be a regional thing. . The broth is good and tastes like they really do cook the bones for many hours. It's also very clean.. no floating oil. The spices are a little light for some, but my husband likes it that way. There was enough meat for my meal, but seemed light compared to other places where I go for the same price point. Much like the sesame chicken, this wasn't bad... but not "OMG Exciting" . The cà phê sữa đá (Vietnamese iced coffee) tasted more like a strong Starbucks drink. No notes of sweetened condensed milk.. which is a must for me to consider it to be legit. Have I become a Vietnamese cuisine snob? I'm practically appropriating the culture, traveling all over So California for "the good stuff". While this was "good enough", being so close to the heart of San Gabriel Valley I don't know if I'd come back here again. The parking right out front was very convenient. It seemed to be a favorite of locals and the lady serving everyone seemed to know the other patrons. I like that a lot! Buuut I don't think I'll bookmark them since they're way out of our area.

Chicken pho, summer rolls, spicy garlic pho

Love this Pho place! The serving is pretty big but it's worth it! We had the chicken pho, spicy garlic pho, and summer rolls. I had Vietnamese coffee after and I liked it! The soup was rich in flavor, ingredients are fresh and the service was swift. The staff are welcoming. Place is clean and the ambiance is quiet. Nice place to have dinner after work.

Pho with beef and chicken - pretty good!

I'm new to the area and exploring the food scene, and decided to try out Pho Season. It was small but welcoming and we got seated right way. I'm still a bit of a newbie when it comes to pho, but typically I order the spring rolls and a beef pho as every place I go. I found the spring rolls here a bit on the smaller side and it wasn't as satisfying as some of the other places, but still good in flavor and gave me enough appetite to look forward to my meal. The pho broth was very good, and I found the portions to be on the more generous side which made up for the spring rolls. The beef was very tender and it was a good amount. I was overall very happy with this meal. Definitely a 'will come back' as I settle in the neighborhood:)

    Spicy Garlic Pho

Came because I missed having Pho Sate. Woman said they had something even better and to try their Spicy Garlic Pho and it was absolutely delicious. Didn't leave a drop. I was originally low key worried about the amount of food, but it extremely filling and soooo flavorful! Delightfully surprised by the amount of beef that was in my Pho. Fam ordered three things on the menu Spicy Garlic Pho 10/10 Vegan Pho 7/10 (mom said it was a little too basic) Rib Eye Stir Fry 7/10 I can't say for sure that the Rib Eye Stir fry was the actual part of the cow that's Rib Eye, but I asked them to make the stir fry with Basil and Garlic so the flavor was magnifico but the cut of beef - was not the nice texture of rib eye I know and love. Still gonna come back and have the Spicy Garlic Pho again - for sure - and excited to try some of their Korean food (since it seems to be Korean owned/run) I will warn any new comers- they seem short staff especially for when it gets crazy busy like Sunday night. (It was completely full up inside and lots of people waiting outside for their to-go orders when I arrived at 7PM). So if they seem overwhelmed please understand and give them a few minute leeway. Very kid friendly. Parking plentiful (today, idk what it's like during the other days of the week since it's technically inside a small plaza vibe) Overall for me: 8/10 experience~ enough to put Pho Season in the saved category on Yelp

I ordered through Postmates. I called the restaurant specifically to say I'm allergic to white onions not to place white onions on the soup. Because it had no selection for chocking no white onions. And I get the soup drenched in white onions and of course they're closed. This place does deserve 3.8 or less

The staff also wears gloves when handling food. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is available for take outs and has some indoor seating available with limited capacity. They are not sanitizing in between customers. I mention these things in my reviews for the sake of protecting immunocompromised people like the elderly and people sick with cancer and other illnesses. COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This establishment currently does not require proof of vaccination. While I was in this establishment several months ago, I asked if they had any special offers and they only had lunch specials available from Monday - Friday at the moment. They currently don't have happy hour. They also do not allow pets in their establishment UNLESS it's a service animal. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is non existent. You will have to find street parking or local parking garages. Make sure to read the street signs well before parking. I saw someone get a ticket while walking to the restaurant. Food and Drinks: I got myself a peach jasmine iced tea. It came in an old school can type container, which was very unique and cool. The drink itself was very fruity, floral, and refreshing. As someone who loathes super sweet drinks and food, this was just right. Perfect for a hot summer's day. My dope ass friend and I ordered the spicy garlic chicken rice and shaken beef garlic noodles. The spicy garlic chicken rice is a signature wok dish featuring flash-fried chicken, broccoli, and jalapeños tossed in a bold, savory garlic sauce served over a bed of hot and fluffy rice. It also comes with some popular Vietnamese veggies like lettuce, daikon radish, and pickled carrots. The chicken itself was soft, tender, and flavorful. Truthfully, this dish was mid compared to that of the shaken beef garlic noodles. It was also a pretty hefty portion of food. The shaken beef garlic noodles were hella fire. You would be remiss if you didn't order this, y'all. That's like going to Disneyland during Halloween season and NOT taking a photo with the gigantic ass pumpkin. Tsk tsk tsk. Anyways, this dish had thick, incredibly tender, mouth watering, and juicy cuts of wok-seared beef tenderloin and buttered onions served over generous portions of al dente savory, garlic-loaded noodles. As a fan of garlic and onions, this dish hit the spot. Also, this was a "wet" noodle style rather than a dry stir-fry. The generous portion sizes make it a heavy, highly filling meal. Staff: So I arrived earlier than my friend. They technically were not supposed to seat me until my friend arrived, but because the restaurant was pretty empty when I arrived, they told me to sit down at a booth to wait for my friend. Thanks, Mariska. She was very welcoming, accommodating, and friendly. They accept both cash and credit cards. There is no credit card minimum.

Upon entering, it felt a lot more modern and hipster than the Nha Trang in San Gabriel which feels more like a hole in the wall place. I had just gone to the Nha Trang in San Gabriel the weekend before so it was quite the shock to see all the items $2 higher. The Bun Bo Hue here doesn't include the blood cake for free like the one in San Gabriel. Instead, it costs $1.50 extra. However, they offer unlimited noodle refills here but you can't take any of it home. Do note veggie refills cost extra too. The noodles here are thicker than that in San Gabriel. They were chewy. I would say the broth seems more salty and a little less flavorful, maybe because I didn't add the chili sauce on the side. I do like that they put it on the side since I don't handle spice well. The highlight Tom Hoa Tien (shrimp and taro egg rolls). They were so crispy and fresh. The shrimp paired really well with the creamy taro. The sauce was a nice touch too though it tastes great without as well. Service was good, but I would've preferred if they offered some more napkins. Also, it was unclear if we could take home the soup (with some leftover noodles) if we got noodle refills without being charged since they mentioned we'd be charged if we take it home. In the end, we ate all the noodles just to be safe. Street parking is limited in the area. We parked in a nearby paid parking structure (Play House Parking). Overall, I much prefer the San Gabriel location.
