My only complaint was the wait, I was told 30-45 minutes for a party of 7 and waited a little over an hour. HOWEVER, you can call ahead and get on the waitlist before getting there. Love this place!! Came in for Sunday brunch with friends and the restaurant was packed. We had to wait about an hour or so for our table but it was worth it. I will say however, this place is small and the tables are close to each other so it is not very COVID friendly. The staff were attentive and friendly. They were following COVID regulations by wearing masks. For my main entree I ordered the Tacos de Huevo with potatoes. I also was able to sub the black beans for a side of potatoes as well. I really enjoyed my dish and the tacos tasted delicious. The dish consisted of 2 tacos with scrambled eggs, cheese and potatoes. I also ordered the Caramelo (iced caramel coffee). It was a pretty big drink and it came with a caramel lollipop. It went perfectly with my dish. For dessert we ordered churros. It came with a chocolate sauce for dipping (4 pieces). We tried the chilaquiles, breakfast tacos, and menudo. The tacos and beans were good, and the fruit was fresh. I tried to order a kid's meal and the waitress said she couldn't do that. The latte was sweet once you mixed in the whipped cream and the little caramel lollipop. It's a small house, so if it's packed it can get kind of loud. French Toast and chilaquiles was what we tried! I've been here before but didn't leave a review but it was good the times I been in the past and now! Super cozy and home feel style restaurant. The staff is friendly and the menu is a nice size especially for a restaurant that closes at 2pm since they are mainly Open for breakfast. I would wish however the flour tortillas were fresh hand made vs the bought kind but they were still good. I think the area is also pretty cool too! It's located in the heart of Montrose. I visited this past weekend and was very disappointed by the service. I've been here before multiple times and I'm the first to tell everyone that the long wait is worth it (they usually have a pretty long waiting list). I arrived and put my name on the list, then went outside to wait where everyone else was. About 20 minutes later the hostess came around and confirmed everyone's name on the list, and we confirmed we were still here. About 20 more minutes pass and I notice that she's reading names off of the second page of the notebook and I distinctly remember my name being on the first page. I walked up to the front to ask about how many more tables were ahead of me, she rudely cut me off and told me she'd be with me in a moment. I waited, then when I asked, she flipped the page back to the first page - I pointed out my name (which was not crossed out, but the following 5 names were) and she said oh you're next it's fine... then called out two more names that weren't mine. Not once did she apologize for skipping my name on the list, no explanation for why we were skipped, nothing. The food was great per usual, and is the only reason this is a two star and not a one. But the feeling of being skipped for no reason left a sour taste in my mouth. read more

Cielito has a very homelike vibe, it's a little small inside but it's super cute for pics & they have a patio. The only reason why it's not 5 stars is because parking is very tricky and they could use an electronic wait list system. So expect a wait. Owners are great and always greeting with a smile:)! We visited this restaurant on a Friday shortly after opening, so we had no issue finding parking, but I can see how that may be a hassle as it gets busier later in the day, esp on weekends. This place is so cute and homey with all the current fall decor. We were immediately greeted upon entry and were promptly seated. My husband and I ordered la bandera, nopalitos, una concha, un cafe, y un chocolate de olla. We loved our food, and service was great. Ok, I love pan dulce, but their concha was not my favorite. It was good, but it had too strong a flavor of butter (?) for my concha-liking. The flavor reminded me of a buttery croissant, which I love, but not for my conchas. My husband liked that it had a slightly distinct flavor tho, so to each their own. It was tasty either way. Went in yesterday for my birthday brunch and let me tell you it was an interesting experience . We come around 12ish, and it was super packed outside ( tons of people waiting to get seated) . I thought there would maybe be a hostess outside making sure everything is organized or to get you checked in to wait for a table but you have to go inside. When you go inside it's SUPER tiny, and the hostess wasn't friendly at all. I understand it's packed and it's frustrating but the attitude was unnecessary. I go up to the counter to ask where do I put my name down on the wait list , and she's like over there and points to the paper. I told her okay so I just put my name & time that's it? And she's like yes just write it yourself. I was like okay dang ? There was pages of names written and how large the party is and you had to write what time you arrived. Which seems so unorganized because anyone can just write anything. My suggestion I've worked in a restaurant before and they should invest in an iPad in order to keep organization because plenty of people were not happy with how they were calling the list. Also don't understand why they wouldn't take down a number maybe instead of having to go outside & shout for who's next? Getting phone numbers would be better in order to send a text or shoot the person a call because the wait time was roughly an hour. My boyfriend & I go outside and wait and what was nice they passed out little aguas frescas which were bomb! I'm pretty sure I had watermelon and it was soooo good! About 15 minutes later we hear the hostess come out and say my name & we go inside and she's like party of 3 ? And we're like No? Party of 2? So we were going to get sat in a corner which would've been a bit nicer but they sat us right by the hostess stand. Let me tell you the review that was put on here saying it's SUPER HOT inside was no joke!! This place is too busy to not have any air conditioning inside. I ordered the chilaquiles & my boyfriend ordered the divorciados & also a little sopa which I'm pretty sure was sopa de letras ? That little sopa was bomb!! He originally wanted menudo but apparently they didn't have any which sucked. I also ordered the Caramelo , it was okay I'd def choose an agua Fresca over that. My food was also good but honestly nothing amazing . I feel like for the wait time and the way this place is highly unorganized I would NOT wait an hour to dine into a place that's blazing hot. Literally my boyfriend & I left out sweating because it was so damn hot. Would I come back ? If I did not on the weekend that's for sure and also only to dine in with the server we had she was AWESOME! Also when you're there you have to go up to the register to pay which isn't a best idea business wise because people start to line up and that little area gets congested and servers are trying to get through with plates, people keep opening and closing the door. It's honestly a hot mess, whoever owns this definitely needs to reevaluate how they're running this place, and don't even get me started with the parking it absolutely sucks. Also my bf was running out of topo chico and they didn't have that either ?? How are you running a Mexican spot with no topo Chico or menudo ? I would like to come back and maybe retry during the week but do not go especially if you are large party on the weekend. We literally had a customer arguing with the hostess ( which I don't blame him for ) because they kept skipping the large parties and making them wait. Also on the patio a Hispanic girl and white guy came after us and it seems like the server on the patio knew them and sat them down like nothing!! This place is a definitely a brunch go-to! I love everything from the ambiance, the small-family restaurant feel and the food. I have had to wait a few times but it seems to go by fast. Dangerous and awful. I had high hopes and have been looking forward to visiting this establishment since seeing it on tik tok. I guess a lot of people saw this on TT bc it was quite full. Entering the cafe, a king table with about 20 people having a lunch was happening . Normally I wouldn't care but this cafe albeit, charming is exactly that- a small house. MiT tables were packed but we could see 3-4 tables leaving and 1 free table so we put our name on the list. While we waited, people seemed so unhappy. I'm guessing it was the service bc it was bustling out of its seams. Finally we were next on list. The waiter decides to go around asking if anyone else was ready. My husband asked- what about us and the free table in the corner? He just said that's not available with no explanation offered. We can only assume it was bc we were 2 and it was a stable for 4. He continued to ignore us so we left. Obviously they weren't hurrying for business. Could they not let us have a table? When he saw us leaving he offered a seat at the super cramped bar. Every seat in the house is cramped. Plan on sharing space with others if u dine here. I've traveled to Europe and not had a cafe with this small of space for customers. I would NEVER recommend this place to a dog owner. Today it is 30 degrees outside. I took it upon myself to contact Cielito Cafe. I asked if they were dog friendly and also mentioned my dog is a service dog. They told me "sure," we're dog friendly. Upon arrival I noticed they do not have designated parking. So my girlfriend and I searched for parking. Upon entering, we sat down. When rudely a woman told me that my dog and I would now have to sit outside in thirty degree weather. When I left I also noticed an old plastic bowl with the rain water from last night/ or this morning. All the tables were wet and the outside benches had puddles. PLEASE DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE OF GOING TO EAT HERE WITH YOUR DOG IN FREEZING COLD WEATHER. read more

Super super cute place, I definitely love trying new places in the big city so I was so excited to come check it out. I got there at a really good time on Sunday around 9:45/10 AM & found parking next to the restaurant & only had a 10/15 minute wait. Everything inside is so so cute. The food presentation is so cute & everyone there is so nice. However, I'm deducting two stars because they weren't that attentive to the food preparation. There was mold on my French toast but besides that everything was good You can even see the mold from this cute pic I took with my boyfriend. One of my favorite Mexican breakfast place. Coffee is excellent let's start with that.. they have topo Chico... The chilaquiles is excellent comes with beans and iced green salad. The quesadilla is amazing super light and healthy. The mollettas is very good as well not heavy over stuff you can pick up and just eat. I really enjoyed it. The concha is one of my favorite things about this cafe. Parking can be a bit limited but it is Montrose area soooo what do you expect... They do have a variety of dishes but the Mexican dishes are the real deal!! The only thing was the place is super tiny so on a busy day you will have a long wait unless you don't mind sitting on the outside patio like we did on a not so cool day. But the restrooms were dirty looked like they had not mopped them in a while. The food was flavorful and they offer vegan versions of MANY of their dishes Plus their chamoy is homemade They're open Tuesday through Sunday from 8am-2:30pm. I tried the chilaquiles, concha sandwich, and coconut coffee and I'm happy to report that everything exceeded my expectations. What initially sparked my interest in this place was the concha breakfast sandwich and let me tell you, it's a must try menu item. The concha is warmed up and slathered in sour cream so it's super soft and pillowy. *drools* The coconut coffee is made with coconut creamer, coconut whipped cream, and topped with shredded coconut. Last but not least-- the chilaquiles. I got them with the salsa verde and they've gotta be by far the best I've ever had. Do yourself a favor and check out Cielito Cafe. I loved everything about Celieto! I felt like I was coming over to a friend's house for lunch (minus having to look for street parking; boo). I'm a teacher on summer break and wanted to take advantage of beating the usual weekend crowd. I thought this place would be empty on a Tuesday at noon. I walked up and there was a line to put your name on a clipboard. The place was packed, but I was sat after only 5 minutes. The caramelo is an iced caramel latte with whipped cream & a caramel lollipop on top. It was a sweet treat and very delicious! I had the flautas which was served with black beans. Great spot for brunch in the montrose area! Loved the decor/ambiance inside. It's a cute blue house turned into a cafe but still had a homey feel inside. They have a parking lot next to the cafe (all though it says you can only park there on Sundays). It took about 30 minutes to get a table on. Sunday afternoon. Food: amazing. I ordered the divorciados (minus the chorizo bc vegetarian) and they let me sub a side of potatoes!! It was delicioussss. Probably the best Mexican brunch I've had in Houston. They had lots of vegetarian options on their menu and seemed open to making substitutions as well. Portion sizes were a little small but filling enough. Prices are around $10 for each entree. My friends also ordered the chilaquiles, cajeta toast, and sopa, which they seemed to really enjoy. Overall 10/10, I definitely need to come back to try out their other items!! read more
