Looking for a cute brunch place that will give you the feels and comfort of home? Well this quaint restaurant located in the heights looks like a home from the outside with a beautiful patio. Come for good Tex mex brunch that'll hug you and welcome you home! I came hear with a local friend who suggested this place for brunch! I really enjoyed my coconut latte, it was such a creamy delight. It was a nice contrast to the spiciness of the mole. They do have seasonal items that they feature so look out for those! I'll definitely be back to try more of their delicious food! The service was nice and they're very attentive.
One of my favorite spots , when I'm in town! Love their valet service, since parking could be a hassle. Once you entered you feel like home, very cozy and lovely decorative restaurant. Every seating area it's perfect, love Their fresh flowers touch to every table! Top notch service, very fast and friendly!
When family came into town for our wedding, I wanted to take my cousin for some authentic Mexican breakfast. Cielito is such a vibe, offering food as good as their aesthetic. With good weather, their patio is a perfect spot for brunch. Their coffee was so delicious, and the breakfast sandwich on a concha was a big hit for my brother. My cousin, who is picky about her juices, loved the Verde, which had a bright, refreshing flavor without being too tart. My Mexican style French toast with goat milk was one of the best brunch dishes I've had in Houston. Service was fantastic, and paying and separating our check at the counter was easy. Parking is pretty limited and challenging, as with most Montrose area eateries. I look forward to trying more at Cielito!
When you come here, you literally feel in Mexico! From the cute decor, bilingual staff, and most importantly delicious food!! They have all traditional dishes from Mexico: chilaquiles, molletes, café con sabor a Mazapán! We were very happy with our food, their coffee is delicious and the food comes out very fast. All the staff is attentive and knowledgeable, if it's your first time, they will make recommendations. The only problem I find here, is the parking. You have to park on sidewalk, or other streets, but don't let this discourage you, this restaurant is worth the hype!
Very comfortable place - went there for a late breakfast. Note that parking is a challenge - they have no parking so you need to park on the street (the lot next to the restaurant is not theirs). When we left, the restaurant was filled to capacity, but no one waiting. The restaurant is not large (maybe 15 tables). Service was very good - we started out with chips and salsa (they bring a variety with 4 types - the hot is very hot!). Also a Carmelo coffee and a regular coffee. Our breakfast came out quickly. We had the traditional breakfast with sausage and a flour tortilla (instead of bread) and the Tacos de Carnitas (hold the beans). Both very tasty with nice portions. We sat around for a few minutes after eating, but we thought that we should leave since the restaurant was filling up to capacity (they didn't ask us to leave). I'd definitely come back here.
Yummmmmmmm. Probably my favorite brunch in Houston. Started with the cafe de coco which I will be thinking about for the next few mornings and the toqueres which were the perfect combination of sweetness from the corn combined with spice of the salsa. For mains I LOVED the cajeta toast. Definitely my favorite for when I'm in a sweet breakfreast mood. Also loved the divorciados and chilaquiles for a savory option. I also tried the molletes which were good but just didn't stand out when compared to the other delicious things I tried. There can be a wait but it moves pretty quickly and the thrift store next door is fun to look around in while you wait. I've been back a few times and will definitely continue to come back when in Houston.
My husband and I just visited Cielito Cafe for breakfast, the place is beautiful, cozy and welcoming. We got there around 10:30am the place was packed. They have breakfast and lunch options, also desserts and soft drinks. We ordered chilaquiles and huevos divorciados. The staff is very friendly, and the service was very quick. The chilaquiles were amazing, the tortillas chips were crispy, both red and green salsa are delicious, a little spicy, amazing beans, and the egg just I like it, everything topped with cotija cheese and crema, beautiful! The huevos divorciados are delightful as well, each egg served on top of a crunchy tortilla, with beans, avocado, queso fresco, chorizo and red salsa, everything I need for breakfast! Wonderful experience at Cielito.
Everything was pretty good. It's a cute converted house. Service was quick. Our waiter was nice. Our dishes did come out at different times and that wasn't ideal. The meat that comes with the chilaquiles was tasty but scarce for the price. The agua Frescas were so good. The chips and 4 salsas were good. The chips were a little too thick for my taste but crispy. Overall, I'd come back and try more dishes.
I've beeb wanting to try this place 3 different times i went to houston and the line is always crazy. Welp, 4x times a charm bc I was able finally able to try it. I must say, I see why the line is longer than life. It's a very small, homey feeling, cute restaurant. Once we got seated to our table our server immediately approached us and took our order. We ordered a little of everything. The food was so fresh , authentic, tasty, and made with love. This is a place where u should get there early or try on the weekdays. Its def worth the wait. Cant wait to go back
Omg!!! Amazing cute space in heaven! The positive vibe and the beautiful smiles and politeness surpassed my expectations! The wait was not more than 20min but after eating here? I would wait.. all worth the wait!! The casita inside has lots of sitting area but they make it work, you don't feel overwhelmed! They serve tables so smoothly! You don't see anyone bumping into anyone, not even when you are being seated at your table! The food looked amazing! We kept looking over everyone's tables lol because every plate looked amazing!! We couldn't make up our minds but finally decided for the red chilaquiles with chorizo, menudo, rolled chicken tacos, chicken sopes and caramel French toast!! Oh and drinks, couldn't pass on the hot coconut coffee with coconut shaving which was slightly burnt and smoky yummm, the Carmel ice drink which came with a caramel Mexican lollipop and if you tried the lollipop in Mexico? Ice drink taste exactly the same!!! and fresh orange juice just perfect! The red chilaquiles with the chorizo and sunny side up eggs were savory, just enough spice to enjoy every bite! The smokiness in the red sauce was amazing! Mexico in every bite! The menudo had some spice but was perfectly seasoned and savory, the pork was soft and well cooked! Not greasy and not that pork smell you get at other places. It was accompanied by corn tortillas which looked and tasted handmade! Not sure if they were but they were just a great addition!! The sopes with the chicken breast shredded over each sope, crunchy purple and white cole slaw and the black beans!! With a splash of sour cream and queso fresco had me in every bite! I enjoyed the entire dish!!! The red salsa was spicy and green salsa was just perfect to add to your sopes!! The chicken rolled tacos were crunchy but not hard to bite which is great for our gums lol. The rolled tacos sit on a bed of green salsa and had some spice but the savory chicken inside was just perfect We also ordered the caramel French toast to share! The bacon bits over the French toast were savory and sweet! The French toast was soft and fluffy and had the right amount of cinnamon! We all loved every bite!! Met the owner and had a good talk about his and his wives café and honestly it's beautiful to see dreams come true and have such a beautiful vibe! Went for a Saturday brunch and it was a cute little spot. The wait was pretty long (that's because parties of 6-8 were in abundance and taking multiple tables). Once we finally got in after about 30ish minutes, I was pleased with the cute decor and well-priced options. When I got my food, I wasn't super impressed. The shrimp tacos were decent at best but my friend enjoyed her French toast. I'd go back to try something different but I'm in no rush. P.S. They don't serve alcohol tho so you won't be sipping mimosas in this establishment! read more

Cozy alert!! Cielito is a wonderful breakfast and brunch place if you want some flavors to change things up! I went to the soft opening when everything wa shake off and got som yummy caramel coffee, huevos divorciados, and Nopalitos. I love it that time and was happy to see it was quite busy! I can back this past weekend early on a Sunday so nobody was there, which meant extra great service and attention during our experience. We got the coconut coffee, avocado toast, divorciados, French toast, and the breakfast sandwich. Everything was delicious once again! The avocado toast had normal white toast that's buttered and toasted, which was interesting as a choice for a "healthier option". I'd probably prefer a bread with more whole grain in it. The breakfast sandwich was sweet and delicious! The divorciados were full of flavor once again! The French toast was nothing extraordinary but was still good! Overall, this is such a fun, cute, and flavorful place to come when you are in the mood for some Mexican flavors! read more

I have visited this restaurant three times and each time the experience has been mediocre. The parking area is very small and fills up quickly, at times the owners vehicle blocks customers from entering and exiting the parking area. The services I have received has always been upsetting. The servers prefer to talk amongst themselves and forget about their guests. There is a gentlemen that greets you at the door who has always been so kind and attentive to the guest. They do offer outside seating but I recommend not to sit there since it seems like they don't like serving guest outside. Which I understand since it's been hot out. The food presentation is done beautifully but taste wise doesn't really match. Some menu items lack flavor while others are just to overwhelming by a certain spice or condiment. The place itself is cute but don't think I will be back anytime soon. read more

If you filtered all the yelp reviews for Cielito Cafe by the word 'cute', you'll probably not be doing much of a filter. This place IS cute. Cute house, cute decor, cute food presentation. Perfect for your "Sunday brunch" instagram story. The food and agua frescas is pleasant. I decided on the Cielito Sandwich, just by eyeballing what other people get. The Concha is such an amusing thing to me. They look so cute to me, but I usually end up disappointed by how dry they taste. This place does it right. The concha was served warm with the sandwich, and the eggs and bacon adds some moisture to the buns. I got a tamarind agua fresca to accompany my meal, and it was light and not too sweet. I was quite disappointed with how the arroz con leche turned out. It felt cold, hard, lumpy and borderline "dry". While I ordered it to share with the table (of 5), I guess it wasn't what anyone really expected and hoped for, and no one touched it after their first taste. Since I hate letting food go to waste, I ended up finishing it by myself. It was definitely thick and carb dense and filled whatever crevice I had left in my tummy. Be prepared for a wait. However, food comes out quickly, which results in a quick turnover. The weather was pleasant so we waited outside, I wouldn't know how they could handle waiting customers if the weather was poor. read more

This is my absolute favorite Mexican brunch spot in Houston. The food is always fantastic and no matter what I order I am always delighted with my meal! Servers are also great and always efficient, happy and polite. I visit every week and don't hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for a good place to eat breakfast or lunch. read more

I will update the review once I come back but first impressions. It was adorable on the inside with the interior being an aquamarine color. I got the chilaQuiles and they have 2 options either green or red. I chose red but I will give it a 5 out of 10 because the tortillas were too crunchy and the red sauce is similar to a tacos rojos sauce but it is spicy which I liked. Yes t came with black beans and choice of scrambled or sunny side up. The orange juice was delicious. Overall good experience but definitely coming back to try more items to give a full permanent review. read more

You have likely driven by this place a dozen times and never realized what the crowd of people outside are waiting for! We sat inside this cute converted house and enjoyed the light interior and decor. Service was fast and friendly and attentive. For my fellow gringos--the chips and salsa aren't what you're imagining but they're still good. I enjoyed the coffee and my boyfriend's green juice was good but would have benefited from something sweet to make it a little less cucumber-y. The breakfast tacos were pretty good and we liked the chilaquiles just a little too spicy. Would go back and try several other things on the menu! read more

With so many Mexican restaurant choices how does one stand out ?? How about this super cute little house where you can enjoy nice fresh authentic Mexican meal that is modernized just enough to look chic on a plate in a bit smaller scale but still keep its authentic flavors ; inside or in the nicely shaded outdoor porch. It's very cozy so be prepared to not have as much space as you are used to in a regular restaurant. I had the Cielito Sandwich which consisted of sweet Mexican bread, cheesy scrambled eggs, bacon, and a side of fruit. It was deliciously well balanced ! It's only opened Tuesday - Sunday 7:00am - 2:30pm.. wonderful place, yummy fresh food, great service ! Why not 5 stars you ask? ... parking is a pain in the butt ! But never the less looking forward to going back real soon ! read more

This is by far one of the best brunch places I have ever been. It has a very unique menu with many Mexican dishes that I am very excited to try. My first thought when I saw the place was that it looks more like a house than a restaurant, and although it is small, it is very cute. I went around Saturday lunch, and there was a 30 minute wait, but the staff was very quick and attentive. I got the cajeta Toast, which is hands down the best French Toast I have ever had. It was perfectly thick and crunchy, and is literally heaven in your mouth. My friend and I also got the divorciados (toastadas with egg, black beans, chorizo, and red and green salsa) and shrimp tacos, which were also very tasty. We were both super happy after our meal (we both completely cleaned all 3 dishes), and it wasn't even extremely pricey like most Houston brunch places. The parking lot attached to the restaurant does not belong to cielito. They have no parking. There is a sign not to park in the guild shop but the guild shop is across the street one can assume that you are not parking at the guiThere is a sleaze bag working as "security" at the guild watching you get out of your car with tow truck on speed dial. Will cost you 260 bucks. read more

Cutest brunch spot around. This is a perfect spot for two, the place is small so I definitely recommend smaller parties. My friend and I had the Chilaquiles with both green and red salsa, and they were amazing. The red sauce is definitely on the hotter side but they both taste amazing, and in my opinion the best chilaquiles I've had in Houston. Then we finish off with some Tres Leches cake, and it was delicious. The cake was perfectly moist, not too too moist, it was a great balance and super delicious. Definitely coming back read more

"Are you sure this is a restaurant...and we are not just walking into someone's house?"-boyfriend. No you are not walking into someone's house, you are walking into Cielito Cafe-a super cute cafe that serves some LEGIT hispanic food. FOOD: We ordered the chilaquiles with red sauce and the molletes. The dishes did not disappoint, in fact I thought we might get a white washed version of these dishes...but thankfully we were proven wrong. The chilaquiles actually had a kick to them and the molletes reminded me of the ones my mom makes. I can tell the owners put a lot of care in not only creating plates that were aesthetically pleasing but also authentic. THE SERVICE: We came in on a weekday and there was absolutely no wait, in fact the servers and host were eagerly waiting for our arrival right at the door. Our server was polite and prompt. However, my only suggestion would be to have the servers do check backs. Rule of thumb, have your server check back after the customer has taken a bite of the food. For example, my boyfriend needed some water after taking a bite of those chilaquiles and we had to flag down the host to get some water. read more
Ambiance/Location: This place has a cool and homey setup. If you do not know what you're looking for, you may actually mistake the restaurant for a house. We had to wait for a while before we could be seated, so we walked around the area around it. The guild shop next door has some cool items, and is worth checking out. Food/Drink: the cafe se coco is very good: coconut flavored coffee too with whip cream. We ordered the divorciados and the molletes. The divorciados tostada was easier to cut and therefor eat than I was expecting, and the flavor was great. The molletes also had a nice crispness to it. Get there early! Amazing food! I was visiting Houston and ran into this little gem. I took a Lyft to this place at first I was a little surprise, it's a house converted into a restaurant. Cute blue house they have a sign outside showing their specials. When I got there there was a wait time of 1hr and 30 min but it was well worth it. I do wish I would have got there a little earlier. Thankfully they had fresh water outside while you wait in the humid head. Host are very kind and they try to seat you as soon as they can but there's so many people waiting. I had the agua de melon (melon juice) all natural and fresh for my main course I had chilaquiles with red sauce, come with beans and a side of fruit. It was absolutely delicious, full of flavor and very authentic, lastly for dessert I tried the flan, it was fantastic. I'm very happy I tried this place right before I left Houston, definitely recommend this place but also advise you to get there early. Wait time is no joke. read more

Cielito is a little piece of heaven on earth crammed into one small house-turned-restaurant. With the exception of their parking availability and limited seating areas, this place is perfection. The atmosphere is charming, the staff is engaging despite being plenty busy. Really enjoyed my iced caramelo coffee which is topped with my favorite childhood lollipop. Can't wait to return and try the famous coconut coffee. The food is familiar to Mexican staple dishes yet delightfully refined. Worth the wait! read more

We read the reviews and chose this place for weekday breakfast following an overnight trip to Houston for an Astros game. It hit the spot! I just had to try the caramel iced coffee and was not disappointed! (Yes. It's sweet. It's supposed to be sweet.) We saw some gals enjoying some beautiful looking orange juice too. I enjoyed cajeta toast with eggs over easy. A perfect balance of sweet and savory. The bacon on top was a nice treat. My husband enjoyed the breakfast sandwich served on sweet Mexican bread and really enjoyed it. We plan to return on future visits. read more

What a gem! We stumbled upon this place while exploring the Hyde park/montrose area of town and just loved it. Everything was amazing, from the cuteness of this converted house to the colors of the decor. I have to start with that, because the food! Omg! The food! It needs an entire separate paragraph. This spot only serves breakfast. We are finding that this is a popular thing in Houston, from small diners and chic large places, there's this entire market of restaurants only open from 7am until 2 or 3pm. This place steps it up even more, with providing a lovely spread of authentic Mexican breakfast. Everything is made from here, don't expect to taste canned beans or processed ingredients. I had the divorciados, a lovely concoction of eggs on tostadas with red sauce on one, and green on the other. I'm dairy and gluten free, and this place has so many options for me, and wonderful ones that made me feel awesome. It gets hard when I have to modify the menu, this menu is full of great dishes that I don't need to ask - hold this, hold that. Next wonderful discovery....do you see that coffee cup in the lovely shade of teal ? That's a specialty drink on the coffee menu made with coconut cream....it was yummy and creamy and such a treat. Order it! I didn't miss dairy at all! Go check out this spot, the service is wonderful too. You may have to wait a bit, but, it really worth it. read more

Cielito Café is an endearing brunch spot keeping true to Mexican dishes. They are serving you simple meals but with a lot of kick. The cozy environment makes me feel like I'm eating at a relatives home. We tried both savory & sweet plates, and were impressed with both!! We tried the molletes and bandera. Hands down one of the most wholesome and delicious breakfasts we've had in a while. The molletes is going to be one of my go-to dishes here. This place was so great, no complaints... we will be back again, for breakfast or lunch. I can't wait to try more from Cielito! read more

Located in the Montrose area, off of Dunlavy, at the old location for Just Dinner- Cielito Cafe has taken over with a bang! A charming little redone bungalow, white with aqua accents throughout, this Mexican breakfast/brunch/lunch cafe is sure to hit the spot. We came on a Sunday morning, I think on the 2nd or 3rd week after they opened. There was a wait, of course, about 30 minutes for a table for 3. This was to be expected on a weekend. The only downside to this, is there is hardly any seating available to wait- but this wasn't a big deal for us. We were greeted warmly by the hostess and by the waitress once we were seated. The inside is light, bright, airy but pretty small! The menu has several breakfast and lunch options, and they are vegetarian/vegan friendly! I ordered the cajeta French toast. It was good, but it didn't blow my mind. I didn't really taste the cajeta, as there wasn't much of it drizzled on- and honestly, that's the primary reason I ordered it. What I did LOVE, was the cafe de coco. You've gotta try it. It's a cup coffee sweetened with coconut oil and coconut creamer and it was delicious. The hubs ordered the concha sandwich and he really enjoyed it, and the kiddo loves his plate too. I forget the name; but I'll include a picture below. All in all, good food and wonderful service. Cool little cafe. Parking is awful. I don't get all the raves. The food just wasn't very good (over salted) and the staff was dismissive. At least I got two grapes and a piece of rock hard cantaloupe. I would have liked it more had they served my crappy omelette with an American flag. Just wasn't worth the effort to find parking. read more

Came here for the soft opening, and had the Carmelo which is the iced carmel coffee with sugar galore. It was pretty tasty especially if you're into sweets, and I had the Cielito sandwich which was the pan dulce sandwich. It was an interesting mix and actually really good.The displays of the food is beautiful. My only thing is everything took forever, it seemed like they had 1-2 waitresses. I was in a big group, and plates were coming out at different times and they completey forgot one girl's order. It was disheartening that we were all eating, and she was left hanging. Took nearly 30 plus minutes for water refills. It became frustrating. Keep in mind we got there for an early time, but by the time we were leaving, there was a line outside the door. I'm open to trying it again, however was highly disappointed with the service. read more

Come here! Everything was great. Service was excellent. Our waitress sat us down quickly and was very pleasant and attentive. It's based in a house so not a huge space but doesn't feel crammed at all inside. Food was delicious. Ordered Divorciados and the Breakfast Sandwich. Divorciados were really delicious, can be messy to eat depending how you order your eggs. The green salsa was amazing on these. The Sandwich is pretty unique, never seen anyone use a Concha as the bread. Ordered Arroz con Leche as a dessert, taste like authentic Arroz (sweet for those who've never had one). Warning: careful with the parking situation. There's an open parking lot next to the restaurant but that's for the Guild Lot next door (there's signs saying this). There's a couple street parking spaces up front then a small rock driveway on the opposite side with the lot for the Café. Ps. You pay up front. They will have your check up there so you don't have to wait for them to bring receipt to your table. read more
Very cute cafe! Came in for brunch on a Saturday morning with a friend and my two 1yr olds and they accommodated us with high chairs. Staff was really nice. I got the divorciados both with green sauce and they were flavorful and fresh. Also got the caramel Iced coffee, was more sweet than a strong coffee flavor - just the way I like it. Parking is tough, it's a small lot and all gravel. I can see it getting tricky when it rains. The place itself is pretty small but there was no wait, maybe because it's still new. If you go early you can pretty much walk in but the crowd starts around 9:30ish then it depends ...have waited up to 30min.

Yes. There is at least one dish with the GF designation, but it seems a few dishes are available with minimal changes to make GF. Just ask the server.
