I wanted to like this place. I feel like the people that give this place a 5 start has not been to other good food restaurants that have a nice esthetic. This place has no esthetic or good food. I feel like they should focus on being a coffee/juice bar. The restrooms are in a weird place and weird paint on them. I guess they wanted for them to look rustic, idk... the tables also weird placement and then they have this area where I guess you can buy groceries with an almost empty fridge like why???... the staff is really bad... they where all together hanging out by the restroom area. It's definitely family-friendly, though I wouldn't recommend it for a very large group since seating seems a bit limited. For a standard family of 3-5, though, it should work just fine. The food was genuinely excellent. They make their corn tortillas in-house, which really elevates the dishes. The salsas are fresh and flavorful -- just a heads-up: the habanero salsa is seriously spicy! If you're not used to really hot food, I'd steer clear of that one. My wife ordered the chilaquiles and she's pretty picky when it comes to authenticity and traditional flavors. She really enjoyed it overall and said the flavors were spot-on. Her only small note was that it was a bit overly sauced. That said, they were very generous with the meat, which made it satisfying and delicious. I went with the surf and turf tacos (shrimp and steak). They were really tasty -- the combination worked well, and the homemade tortillas helped tie everything together. My only minor critique is that they could have used just a touch more seasoning. I ended up adding a little salt to bring out the flavors. The one area where they could improve is the customer service. When we arrived, we were seated right away, but then we sat for about 15 minutes without anyone coming over to take our order. Lemonade is sweeter than a can of coke. The food was very average. We ordered the guac as our appetizer, which was a bit on the salty side. Tacos were were very small portions for the money you pay. I had looked and most of you all mentioned the chilaquiles. Great portion for $20 something. But those chips were soggy like they went for a swim an hour ago. Nothing crispy. Bland green sauce. We had a great experience at Ojo de Agua and will definitely be back. For drinks, I ordered the Mezcalita and my date had the Dragon Fruit Martini. My Mezcalita came out a little smaller than expected, but don't let the size fool you -- it packed a serious punch. If you like mezcal, it tastes exactly like a proper mezcal cocktail should. The Dragon Fruit Martini, on the other hand, was a nice generous size and had a really good kick too. If you like your drinks a little strong but still on the sweeter side, this one is a great choice. We started with the guacamole, which came with fresh chips and was topped with a little white cheese and pomegranate seeds. It was super fresh, refreshing, and a great portion size -- both of us ate from it and still had some left. For our meal, we ordered the Mar y Tierra tacos (ribeye and shrimp). You get three small-to-medium tacos on corn tortillas. They were really good -- honestly, just a tiny pinch of salt would have made them perfect, but I would absolutely order them again. The server told us they're one of the most popular items on the menu, and I can see why. Before we left, we ordered a shot of their house reposado, chilled, with an orange slice. When I say smooth, I mean super smooth. And that's coming from someone who usually drinks Clase Azul Reposado. I didn't even catch the name of the tequila, but it was excellent and I'd definitely order it again. The service was impeccable. I came for Saturday brunch, elated to finally try this place with family, but I wasn't impressed. First of all, our food was served cold after waiting nearly half an hour for the food to come out. We weren't the only ones waiting either, so it let me know they were probably understaffed or had staff that wasn't trained well enough. We started off with the queso flameado, while all our food came out cold, this menu item was served warm. My favorite part was the homemade tortillas, the kitchen was nice enough to bring our party of six extra tortillas. Queso Flameado: 5/5, it had nice flavor. Tasted like what I would have made at home and it paired so nicely with the homemade corn tortillas. Pozole Verde: 2.5/5, it was overpowered with the taste of cumin. You can tell the cooks are not Mexican at this restaurant which is sad all things considered that this is a Mexican restaurant. Aside from that, all the 3 pozoles we ordered were served cold. The nice touch was that all pozoles were served with a side of corn tortilla chips. Chilaquiles: 2/5, it was just like chips with cold salsa. This menu item was also served cold. Not anything special. Ribeye Tacos: 3.5/5, the meat was tender served in homemade corn tortillas. This menu item was served at room temperature, but it was not appeasing enough to finish the whole meal. Tulum Mimosa: 5/5, we ordered 2 of these and they were perfectly portioned and strong enough to enjoy. Cafe Americano: 3/5, while they didn't offer cafe de olla, because the waiter said it was outdated, we ordered 3 of the regular American coffee. It was your average coffee, not strong enough or special flavors peeking through. They serve it with slim milk so it makes it difficult to truly enjoy. Kids Meal, Grilled Ham & Cheese: 5/5, this was the only menu item served hot. It was served with a side of plaintain chips and has a portion large enough for an older child. Overall, the ambiance was nice and the restaurant owner did offer us 20% off the whole meal to compensate for the cold food served. I. My opinion, it would have been better if they just comped the cold food items, but each restaurant is different. Nice plump shrimp! I didn't count them but probably 5 or 6. The dish looks small, but I'd say it'll still fill you up. The broth base the shrimp were in reminded me of a curry. The downside was my salad and entree were delivered at the same time. So my shrimp were starting to cool down as I ate my salad. The positives are the portion sizes are very good! I reminded her we had called to reserve a table to avoid this kind of situation, and that I saw several unoccupied tables that I doubt were all "reserved" at the same time. When she realized she was being unreasonable, she finally asked if there was a table I wanted and I said yes. So we were finally seated at a better table. My friend arrived, we ordered our food, the server came around with a tray of bread presenting it to us to choose one, as if it were complimentary. So we chose a few to eat. Later they came by with more, and we selected a few more only to find out at checkout that we were being charged for every piece. It felt deceptive. We were not told in any way that we would be charged for them. We returned the few pieces of bread (about $7 for each piece) we had selected near the end of our meal. The food was pretty good (not the best) but good enough to where there were no complaints. I probably will not go back. The service is still amazing, the staff and servers are always friendly, attentive, and quick to help. For service, I give them 5 stars without a doubt. The problem has been the food. The pulpo with mole wasn't good at all, the flavor was off and the presentation honestly didn't look appetizing. Mole is such a special part of Mexican cuisine, and with so many types available, I expected more. On today's visit, I ordered pozole but was served what looked like chicken soup. When I mentioned it to my server, he quickly tried to fix it, which I appreciated, but what I got back was just broth with a few garnishes and barely any pozole. At that point, I decided to pay and leave. I'm not exactly sure what's happening with the service at Ojo but it has drastically changed from when they first opened. I thought it was a one time fluke but my last three experiences here have been horrible!!!!!!! The service is atrocious and the food quality is lacking. You have to beg for water, utensils, and hunt them down for your check. Worst part is they consistently mess up your order. I miss the OG staff (only one or two are left) and how they were so attentive and polite to patrons. This used to be my go to spot but this will probably be my last time patronizing them. read more

One of my fav spots in the city. Absolutely love the ambiance and energy of this restaurant. They recently updated the menu so they have some new stuff to try and recently got their liquor license so the cocktails are truly cocktails now. They have a variety of pastries from a local bakery as well. Tons of fresh juice options including cyo. You order upfront so be swift and grab a table when you walk in as they go fast on weekends. Parking can be along the side street if you're lucky. Recommendations: juice combo: guanabana, mango, strawberry or guava and your fav fruit Molletes 3 dientes ~ great for an app to split Açaí bowl ~ pricey but so good and nice selection of fruit Kale Caesar salad ~ addicting easily one of my favs Guava pancake ~ different but nice .. can be ordered as a shared dessert read more

The aesthetics for the restaurant is cute but that's probably the only good thing I can say about this place. Service was extremely slow on a late Sunday afternoon, although my server was nice whenever he came by. I did like the Nutella latte I ordered, it looked cute but more on the sweeter end (tasted like choco milk). My tacos were very oily/soggy. The breakfast entree I ordered was extremely bland, no seasoning whatsoever. I won't be back here unfortunately, but it is in a nice location at river oaks read more

As much as this place was so cute and fancy the food was not it, before we began to eat my friend found a hair in her chilaquiles, my breakfast sandwich was not good the croissant was so hard it it felt old. For the French toast it was okay but not the best because it was also a croissant and even with all the juice it was pretty hard to cut into. I really expected really good food because of the area it's in but it did not hit the spot, sorry but this is a no for me. Also there's nothing Mexican about this place. read more
