No andule or arriba at this place which was the biggest let down. Usually, Mexican places dish stuff out pretty quickly, but man, not on the night we went. Which is a shame since the food was excellent. The classic margarita was delicious and made with Arette tequila, which is one of my favorites. It was fresh tasting and well balanced. I would have had a lot more if I wasn't on a work budget. We split the Molotitos appetizer which was fried corn masa with a hodgepodge of fillings and toppings. They were good and bigger than I thought they would be. Definitely good for sharing, or even for a meal. They were a little dry, but they were topped with lots to goodies. I ordered the Shrimp Asados for my meal which was a fresh tasting grilled shrimp dish with veggies and quinoa... only they forgot the quinoa. After over an hour of waiting for it, I wasn't going to ask for some... not that I could as the waitress didn't really come back to the table that often. My colleague got the Mole Chicken and wow, that mole sauce was delicious. It also came with freshly made tortillas which made all the difference in that dish. The place was pretty big with outdoor dining and we were lucky enough to snag a table outside with very little wait... but ended up waiting a lot for the food. I think we were there for over 2 hours and left shortly after we finished our meals. Good food thought but man... figure out that service!

Stopped by for a late dinner. Friendly host staff seated us right away. Our server was friendly and offered some suggestions. I ordered the carne asada plate, wife got fajitas, and daughter got the tacos. We also ordered the elote- excellent btw. The chips and salsa were fresh. The carne asada was tender and excellent, as was the rice and beans. The fajitas were good but wife prefers them less saucy. Our corn tortillas were thick and fresh made. Tacos were full of meat and fillings. Food was very good. Had some trouble getting our water and drinks refilled, and runners brought the fajitas to the table and there was quite a delay til the tortillas and other dishes came out. Food wise 5 stars, service was a little off tho.

Baja taco

Two Baja fish tacos and order of plantains. It was a nice little snack for the both of us. There's plenty of seating inside and on their patio. I like how whimsical the utensils are. After ordering, food comes out super fast. The fish tacos were fresh and which a slight crunch on the tortilla. The plantains were super delicious I didn't want to share them.

We love this place. The service is impeccable, the restaurant is clean and orderly and the menu is fantastic. If you want to feel a little more holiday cheer, this is your place. Beautiful decorations still in place. I have been here many times, but this is the first time I tried the fish tacos. This is easily one of the best items on the menu. Light and tasty fish with colorful cabbage slaw on top made for a gorgeous display as well. I also tried the ahi ceviche, and the presentation was equally awesome and the taste...chef's kiss! Last but not least, every time I e been here the waiters and all staff are incredibly friendly and attentive. When it comes time to tip you won't hesitate, which is exactly where you want to be as a diner. Parking out front. Indoor and outdoor seating. Hugh bar with tons of seating. Open kitchen. A great place all in all.

Piccadillo con pollo ($26.50)

Party of 14 for a framily holiday get together. My carne asada was fire! Cooked a perfect medium rare, juicy with an excellent sear. The chile verde was alright and so was the piccadillo con pollo. The chicken was very juicy, but my friend said she wished she had gone with my carne asada instead. Large portions with all the sides: freshly made corn tortillas, rice and beans. Our margarita flight was mostly juice and ice: no buzz to be had. Another in our party commented the same about his flight. My other friend said her Diablo margarita was hella spicy and heavy handed on the alcohol and I took a sip: she was right. Maybe it depends on the drink for ratios here? The flautas were really crispy. I appreciated that. The best of the three starters we ordered. Guac was standard. The molotitos filled with mushroom and masa were way too thick with the masa, making it super dry. Excellent service. 3% auto service fee. We were surprised our large party didn't have auto gratuity, but better for him since we were generous. Loved the decor and ambiance. The restaurant easily accommodated our dinner party a week beforehand with reservations at 6pm on a Sunday. Every table seemed to be celebrating a birthday there and received a festive song and complimentary churros. Get the carne asada and don't look back!

MOLCAJETE AZTECA

Came here Friday night for party of 2. Had a reservation but came here early and were seated immediately. It was almost packed inside. Complimentary chips and salsa arrived quickly. They chips were good! Thin and freshly made and the salsa was smoky and not super spicy. We order a side of guacamole, ceviche trio and the molcajete. We got the guacamole immediately. Had to wait a little to get our drinks. We ordered the mango margarita and a margarita flight (guava, prickly pear, hibiscus). Margaritas were tasty and decently strong! The guacamole was good also, slightly salty. We got the molcajete and it was soo good, came with freshly homemade corn tortillas beans and rice. The molcajete was a red sauce... kinda almost like a fajita since there were so many veggies. I wish there was more meat and more sauce. I wish the sauce was thinner but was still very flavorful. The homemade tortillas were soft and delicious but only came with 3 so we ordered extra. The ceviche came after the molcajete though even thought it was supposed to be an appetizer. It was fresh and had good flavor but we were so full from the other food. Overall not bad and very tasty food and drink!

Really fun restaurant for any occasion we went there for a birthday party and they really make it special! The food, the service, and presentation was great. Special shout out to Izzy our waitress... So sweet and attentive.! all the meals were delicious. I had the carnitas . Others had the fish tacos a lot of variety all at all a great place to grab authentic Mexican food.

The warm chips with salsa are such a nice start to the meal. The chili relleno is interesting, filled with vegetables and not fried. Tasty but I missed having the oozing melted cheese. Service is excellent. Chicken enchiladas are ordinary.

Cielito Has Been One Of My Go To Places To Eat For Special Occasions & Last Night Was No Different. We Celebrated My Wife & Twin Sisters' Birthday. I Made Reservations Couple Weeks In Advance Since We Were Going To Be Party Of 8! From The Moment You Walk In You Are Greeted Multiple Times By Different Staff Members Always Happy To Help & Always With A Smile! The Place Was Packed! The Atomosphe Here Is Great, Litlle Bit Of Mexico Every Where You Look! Their Bar Is Fully Stocked With Any Hard Liquor You Can Think Of It Seems. The "Antojitos": They Have Plenty Of Different Apetizers To Choose From All Pretty Good. We Ended Up Ordering Their Guac & Chips As We Always Do & Coctel De Frutas Which Was Really Good! The Food: We Ordered 4 Carne Asada Plates, Enchilada Suizas, Carnitas & Veggie Tacos. All Entrees Served With A Side Of Rice & Beans Except The Carnitas Plater. However, They Do All Come With Hand Made Corn Tortillas! Which Hands Down Will Always Beat Any Tortillas That Come Packaged! The Prices Maybe A Little On The High Side But You Get What Pay For & Food Here Is Worth It. Overall, Great Place To Eat, Drink and Catch Up With Friends & Famliy. Definitely Moe Recommended!

ENCHILADA DE VERDURAS

I didn't think this place was as good as everyone says it is. It's a fun environment, they have good drinks, it's kid friendly, however I just don't think the food is top tier. I ordered the enchiladas and the sauce was too rich for my liking. The servers are very nice and helpful, however I just wasn't a fan of the flavors compared to other Mexican restaurants downtown.

Why can't they make cheese enchiladas? Someone in our party loved the chicken enchiladas and we asked if they could make a cheese version, but were told no.

I have gotten cheese enchiladas here before, you can order their enchiladas with cheese instead of chicken.

Is it really loud?

No.

Are they dog friendly?

Absolutely, but only on the patio of course. We have water bowls outside and treats on request. The patio has heaters and is currently open on weekends during the winter, weather permitting and full time once it begins to warm up. Thanks for… Read more

Is this the old blockbuster which was followed by that terrible restaurant that had canned sodas and a schizophrenic menu?

I'm not sure about Blockbuster? Chows was there previously. We were just there again this past week for Happy Hour. Oh and the week before-for dinner! The wood fired shrimp on quinoa is excellent!! I highly recommend👍💃🏻💃🏻👍

There's a ton of seating inside, and everything is very spacious. Though, I do have to say it always feels incredibly empty for some reason and there's never anybody actually inside outside of a few tables, but they do have tons of takeout so perhaps that's the tradeoff. However, don't let the lack of eating patrons inside the place put you off. This taqueria offers a good variety of different options as any taqueria would offer, and many of the options have pictures and stuff with it. The service here is, kind of hit or miss. The people in the front usually aren't overly friendly, and will sometimes feel like they're just there until the clock turns work over. Sometimes they're bordering on rude as they just kind of give you an indifferent stare as you're ordering, or will just feel as if they're half listening and not even looking up. The service was a bit better when I dined in, so perhaps maybe it's just the takeout, although it's usually the same person for both. Price wise, it's certainly not going to be cheap. If you want the best bang for your buck around here, El Aguila probably won't be it as there's a plethora of taquerias in this area. Food quality wise, it's pretty good overall. There are some tasty dishes here that will certainly warrant the little bit of extra cost here compared to other places. Things that I have tried here are the burritos and the torta. The burritos here are yummy as they they will have ingredients inside the burrito that is slightly different than your cookie cutter burrito at any other place. It really does help adds layers of flavor to it that other places do not offer. However, the best part of it is indeed the fact they grill the outside of the burrito to get that nice flakiness that wrap, and makes it a oh so rewarding experience. Meat portions was okay, but wish it had more especially for the cost. The torta I got was pretty good, as the ingredients inside were pretty typical so nothing really stood out. The break was toasted well, but I do wish it was a bit softer as it may have been to toasted. Should be toasted outside and soft inside, but this one just felt toasted all over. The meat portion also suffers from the same issue as the burrito as that it's not as generous as it could be. However, the flavors and taste were fine. It's certainly a nice place for those who want a bit of a different style of their Mexican cuisine. They have some flavors here that will be atypical of most of the cookie cutter taquerias around. While they are a bit expensive comparatively, the portions are actually decent (minus the meats). You can certainly be filled with just a single burrito. Worth a visit.
