Waiting for a table last night around 6:30pm with a few friends at the bar, I was really disappointed by something I witnessed. I watched the bartender put his finger directly into my Diet Coke to bring down the foam before serving it to me. I couldn't finish the drink after seeing that because it felt extremely unsanitary. It also left me wondering whether this is a common practice here. Management should address proper drink-handling and hygiene with the staff. read more

Cielito has very authentic delicious Mexican food. My favorites are the chile rellenos, enchiladas, pozole and the flautas. Marco provided outstanding service during our visit. From the moment we sat down, he was attentive without being intrusive checking in at just the right moments and making sure we always had what we needed. What really stood out was that he spoke Spanish with us, which made the whole experience feel warmer and more personal. It's clear he goes above and beyond to make guests feel comfortable. Cielito is a fantastic place. We love going here and often bring friends here who are visiting. It's a great atmosphere, phenomenal food, and great service. Which is a shame since the food was excellent. The classic margarita was delicious and made with Arette tequila, which is one of my favorites. It was fresh tasting and well balanced. I would have had a lot more if I wasn't on a work budget. We split the Molotitos appetizer which was fried corn masa with a hodgepodge of fillings and toppings. They were good and bigger than I thought they would be. Definitely good for sharing, or even for a meal. They were a little dry, but they were topped with lots to goodies. I ordered the Shrimp Asados for my meal which was a fresh tasting grilled shrimp dish with veggies and quinoa... only they forgot the quinoa. After over an hour of waiting for it, I wasn't going to ask for some... not that I could as the waitress didn't really come back to the table that often. My colleague got the Mole Chicken and wow, that mole sauce was delicious. It also came with freshly made tortillas which made all the difference in that dish. The place was pretty big with outdoor dining and we were lucky enough to snag a table outside with very little wait... but ended up waiting a lot for the food. It was our 2nd time there in a month. To try and give them a chance to make up for the first visit. The only reason I gave it two stars was because the food is good. Unfortunately the service is horrific. This I don't blame their servers but management for not making sure all aspects of their business are run efficiently. From the bar to making sure food / chips, salsa and tortilla get out on time. Our tables were not picked up after the meals with dirty dishes just piling up. It sad to see a local favorite slip up and not care for the customer. When we spoke to the manager he said he appreciated the feedback and didn't even comp a dessert or send a free something out to try and make up for this horrible experience. With this sad experience it's off to try and find a better service orientated place for Mexican food. read more

Stopped by for a late dinner. Friendly host staff seated us right away. Our server was friendly and offered some suggestions. I ordered the carne asada plate, wife got fajitas, and daughter got the tacos. We also ordered the elote- excellent btw. The chips and salsa were fresh. The carne asada was tender and excellent, as was the rice and beans. The fajitas were good but wife prefers them less saucy. Our corn tortillas were thick and fresh made. Tacos were full of meat and fillings. Food was very good. Had some trouble getting our water and drinks refilled, and runners brought the fajitas to the table and there was quite a delay til the tortillas and other dishes came out. Party of 14 for a framily holiday get together. My carne asada was fire! Cooked a perfect medium rare, juicy with an excellent sear. The chile verde was alright and so was the piccadillo con pollo. The chicken was very juicy, but my friend said she wished she had gone with my carne asada instead. Large portions with all the sides: freshly made corn tortillas, rice and beans. Our margarita flight was mostly juice and ice: no buzz to be had. Another in our party commented the same about his flight. My other friend said her Diablo margarita was hella spicy and heavy handed on the alcohol and I took a sip: she was right. Maybe it depends on the drink for ratios here? The flautas were really crispy. I appreciated that. The best of the three starters we ordered. Guac was standard. The molotitos filled with mushroom and masa were way too thick with the masa, making it super dry. Excellent service. 3% auto service fee. We were surprised our large party didn't have auto gratuity, but better for him since we were generous. Loved the decor and ambiance. The restaurant easily accommodated our dinner party a week beforehand with reservations at 6pm on a Sunday. We love this place. The service is impeccable, the restaurant is clean and orderly and the menu is fantastic. If you want to feel a little more holiday cheer, this is your place. Beautiful decorations still in place. I have been here many times, but this is the first time I tried the fish tacos. This is easily one of the best items on the menu. Light and tasty fish with colorful cabbage slaw on top made for a gorgeous display as well. I also tried the ahi ceviche, and the presentation was equally awesome and the taste...chef's kiss! Last but not least, every time I e been here the waiters and all staff are incredibly friendly and attentive. We chose this restaurant to celebrate my dad's birthday, but unfortunately the service made what should have been a special evening disappointing. From the start, our server seemed uninterested and rushed. We didn't order appetizers, and it honestly felt like the level of service changed after that. Every request seemed like an inconvenience, and we never felt welcomed. After ordering our entrees, the food arrived and we asked for another round of drinks and more water. While our drinks came out, we were left waiting more than 20 minutes for the water. My dad also discovered that the cheese inside his cheese enchiladas wasn't melted, so he politely asked if it could be warmed a little more. It took another 15-20 minutes before his meal was returned, and by then the rest of us had nearly finished eating, so we weren't able to enjoy the meal together. To top it off, when the check arrived, we were surprised to see that gratuity had already been included. This was never mentioned when I called to make the reservation. In hindsight, it explained why our server seemed so disengaged throughout the meal--there was no incentive to provide good service. I also noted when making the reservation that we were celebrating my dad's birthday, yet there was absolutely no acknowledgment of it. The food itself had potential, but the service overshadowed the entire experience. We came hoping to celebrate a special occasion, and instead left feeling disappointed. read more

It's so refreshing that they offer dishes beyond the status quo. I enjoyed the Camarones Asados--grilled shrimp with quinoa and seasonal veggies. FINALLY veggies at a Mexican restaurant besides the usual grilled onion and bell peppers. It tasted d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s. We celebrated a birthday and the presentation was spectacular with a sparkler of sorts. With it, churros and two sauces: chocolate and caramel. The churros stood out because they were soft on the inside and slightly crispy on the outside. And NOT greasy. Truly a favorite now. I rarely drink alcohol, but the rave reviews for the Grand Margaritas enticed me to order one. OK - so now I have my favorite margarita EVER. Not too sweet and no hint of "mix" anywhere. Delectable. On our last visit we waited a solid 10 minutes before anyone came by. It was not busy. We finally stopped a server who was walking by. The server was brusque, even rude: I presume servers did not arrive and he was unhappy, and he took it out on us. Drinks were served, food delivered, and he never came back. This place has all the ingredients to be wildly successful, food is great, but service is terribly inconsistent. It's also expensive. I have mixed feelings about this place. Overall, the ambience is nice and the staff is nice, but the food is kind of bland. Even the guacamole, I was searching for a punch of flavor and didn't get anything. The chips and salsa are good though! The best thing I had was the Carnitas plate. It was really soft and tender. The carne asada was lacking any seasoning or flavor and was really dry. I got it on the salad and the only thing I could taste was the citrus dressing. The rice is also bland. The tortillas have a weird soft doughy texture. My family also got the chile appetizer small plate and nowhere did it warn how spicy it was and two others who can handle spice tried it and agreed. Came here Friday night for party of 2. Had a reservation but came here early and were seated immediately. It was almost packed inside. Complimentary chips and salsa arrived quickly. They chips were good! Thin and freshly made and the salsa was smoky and not super spicy. We order a side of guacamole, ceviche trio and the molcajete. We got the guacamole immediately. Had to wait a little to get our drinks. We ordered the mango margarita and a margarita flight (guava, prickly pear, hibiscus). Margaritas were tasty and decently strong! The guacamole was good also, slightly salty. We got the molcajete and it was soo good, came with freshly homemade corn tortillas beans and rice. The molcajete was a red sauce... kinda almost like a fajita since there were so many veggies. I wish there was more meat and more sauce. I wish the sauce was thinner but was still very flavorful. The homemade tortillas were soft and delicious but only came with 3 so we ordered extra. The ceviche came after the molcajete though even thought it was supposed to be an appetizer. I recently visited Cielito in Danville with my sister. While enjoying our meal, my sister took a few quick photos and videos of our food and drinks for social media--something that many guests commonly do when dining out. We were approached by the owner and informed that photos and videos were not allowed because minors work at the restaurant. Not only were we asked to stop taking photos, but the owner also requested access to our phones and insisted that my sister delete any footage she had taken inside the restaurant. Once the policy was explained, we had no issue respecting it. However, there were no signs posted anywhere informing customers of this rule. As first-time guests, we had no way of knowing that photography and video recording were prohibited. We suggested that the restaurant consider posting clear signage so guests would be aware of the policy before being confronted about it. Unfortunately, the conversation was not handled in a welcoming or customer-friendly manner. To make matters worse, the tacos I ordered took more than 45 minutes to arrive, which was disappointing given that the restaurant was not unusually busy at the time. The food itself was good, and the atmosphere had potential, but the interaction with management left us feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. If a business chooses to enforce policies that differ from what most customers would reasonably expect, those policies should be clearly communicated and enforced respectfully.
