I recently visited Cielito in Danville with my sister. While enjoying our meal, my sister took a few quick photos and videos of our food and drinks for social media--something that many guests commonly do when dining out. We were approached by the owner and informed that photos and videos were not allowed because minors work at the restaurant. Not only were we asked to stop taking photos, but the owner also requested access to our phones and insisted that my sister delete any footage she had taken inside the restaurant. Once the policy was explained, we had no issue respecting it. However, there were no signs posted anywhere informing customers of this rule. As first-time guests, we had no way of knowing that photography and video recording were prohibited. We suggested that the restaurant consider posting clear signage so guests would be aware of the policy before being confronted about it. Unfortunately, the conversation was not handled in a welcoming or customer-friendly manner. To make matters worse, the tacos I ordered took more than 45 minutes to arrive, which was disappointing given that the restaurant was not unusually busy at the time. The food itself was good, and the atmosphere had potential, but the interaction with management left us feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. If a business chooses to enforce policies that differ from what most customers would reasonably expect, those policies should be clearly communicated and enforced respectfully. No andule or arriba at this place which was the biggest let down. Usually, Mexican places dish stuff out pretty quickly, but man, not on the night we went. Which is a shame since the food was excellent. The classic margarita was delicious and made with Arette tequila, which is one of my favorites. It was fresh tasting and well balanced. I would have had a lot more if I wasn't on a work budget. We split the Molotitos appetizer which was fried corn masa with a hodgepodge of fillings and toppings. They were good and bigger than I thought they would be. Definitely good for sharing, or even for a meal. They were a little dry, but they were topped with lots to goodies. I ordered the Shrimp Asados for my meal which was a fresh tasting grilled shrimp dish with veggies and quinoa... only they forgot the quinoa. After over an hour of waiting for it, I wasn't going to ask for some... not that I could as the waitress didn't really come back to the table that often. My colleague got the Mole Chicken and wow, that mole sauce was delicious. It also came with freshly made tortillas which made all the difference in that dish. The place was pretty big with outdoor dining and we were lucky enough to snag a table outside with very little wait... but ended up waiting a lot for the food. Stopped by for a late dinner. Friendly host staff seated us right away. Our server was friendly and offered some suggestions. I ordered the carne asada plate, wife got fajitas, and daughter got the tacos. We also ordered the elote- excellent btw. The chips and salsa were fresh. The carne asada was tender and excellent, as was the rice and beans. The fajitas were good but wife prefers them less saucy. Our corn tortillas were thick and fresh made. Tacos were full of meat and fillings. Food was very good. Had some trouble getting our water and drinks refilled, and runners brought the fajitas to the table and there was quite a delay til the tortillas and other dishes came out. We love this place. The service is impeccable, the restaurant is clean and orderly and the menu is fantastic. If you want to feel a little more holiday cheer, this is your place. Beautiful decorations still in place. I have been here many times, but this is the first time I tried the fish tacos. This is easily one of the best items on the menu. Light and tasty fish with colorful cabbage slaw on top made for a gorgeous display as well. I also tried the ahi ceviche, and the presentation was equally awesome and the taste...chef's kiss! Last but not least, every time I e been here the waiters and all staff are incredibly friendly and attentive. Party of 14 for a framily holiday get together. My carne asada was fire! Cooked a perfect medium rare, juicy with an excellent sear. The chile verde was alright and so was the piccadillo con pollo. The chicken was very juicy, but my friend said she wished she had gone with my carne asada instead. Large portions with all the sides: freshly made corn tortillas, rice and beans. Our margarita flight was mostly juice and ice: no buzz to be had. Another in our party commented the same about his flight. My other friend said her Diablo margarita was hella spicy and heavy handed on the alcohol and I took a sip: she was right. Maybe it depends on the drink for ratios here? The flautas were really crispy. I appreciated that. The best of the three starters we ordered. Guac was standard. The molotitos filled with mushroom and masa were way too thick with the masa, making it super dry. Excellent service. 3% auto service fee. We were surprised our large party didn't have auto gratuity, but better for him since we were generous. Loved the decor and ambiance. The restaurant easily accommodated our dinner party a week beforehand with reservations at 6pm on a Sunday. We shared fajitas combo but it's not enough for even one person,too much bell pepper and onion and not enough meat, seriously. The taste is very good, the tortillas are tasty as well. They chips were good! Thin and freshly made and the salsa was smoky and not super spicy. We order a side of guacamole, ceviche trio and the molcajete. We got the guacamole immediately. Had to wait a little to get our drinks. We ordered the mango margarita and a margarita flight (guava, prickly pear, hibiscus). Margaritas were tasty and decently strong! The guacamole was good also, slightly salty. We got the molcajete and it was soo good, came with freshly homemade corn tortillas beans and rice. The molcajete was a red sauce... kinda almost like a fajita since there were so many veggies. I wish there was more meat and more sauce. I wish the sauce was thinner but was still very flavorful. The homemade tortillas were soft and delicious but only came with 3 so we ordered extra. The ceviche came after the molcajete though even thought it was supposed to be an appetizer. I visited this restaurant recently and left disappointed. The food was okay, but the service was terrible. The staff came across as standoffish and rude, making me feel more like an inconvenience than valued customers. On top of that, the service was slow. A friendly attitude and attentive service can make a huge difference, but unfortunately that was not the case here. I was having dinner with my family and initially had a great experience. When our food and drinks arrived, I took a few photos and videos to share on Instagram, something that many guests commonly do when dining out. A few minutes later, the manager approached our table and informed me that photos and videos were not allowed. He then asked me to hand over my phone so he could delete the photos and videos himself. I politely refused, as I did not feel comfortable giving a stranger access to my personal device. The interaction quickly became uncomfortable. The manager's tone felt hostile, and it seemed like he was creating a scene in front of other guests. Afterward, I felt as though the staff was watching our table, which made my family and me feel very unwelcome. If a restaurant has a no-photo or no-video policy, it should be clearly communicated through signage or mentioned to guests beforehand. We would have respected the policy had we known about it in advance. Unfortunately, what should have been an enjoyable family dinner was overshadowed by the way the situation was handled. So disappointed! We went here on the recommendation of a friend, but to be honest we probably wont be back. The evening started off well. We were seated right away and complimentary chips and salsa came shortly after we were seated. That was about the best part of our evening. We ordered a couple items off the kids menu, some tacos, and the Carne Asada. The kids liked their food but my husband and I thought the tacos and Carne Asada were lacking... something. I will say the beef was tender but the taste wasnt anything special. As others have mentioned the service wasnt the best and was a little slow. We finished eating fairly quickly but no one came around for at least 15 minutes. I think the manager was putting together a highchair or something, but if the server is by himself maybe a higher priority would be to help him out? Idk. The server was brusque, even rude: I presume servers did not arrive and he was unhappy, and he took it out on us. Drinks were served, food delivered, and he never came back. This place has all the ingredients to be wildly successful, food is great, but service is terribly inconsistent. It's also expensive. She greets guests with a frown, doesn't smile, seems uninterested in being there and has zero personality. Find someone else to do that job. The carne asada was lacking any seasoning or flavor and was really dry. I got it on the salad and the only thing I could taste was the citrus dressing. The rice is also bland. Her attentiveness and friendly demeanor were exceptional, earning high praise from our entire, often demanding, family. Even with many celebrations and so many bdays happening, we felt prioritized. She constantly checked in on us, and made sure everything was clean before we had dessert! It was the small details that made it very special, and made it very easy to enjoy! I came here for my birthday in February and had a stellar experience here and couldn't be happier with celebrating here. It was my first time coming here so I didn't know what to expect. The reviews looked decent so I decided to give it a try. The restaurant has beautiful interiors. It's extremely spacious with high ceilings. There is a mix of modern and traditional architecture and interior decor. Overall lovely ambiance in the restaurant. The waitress was super friendly and accommodating the whole dinner. Sometime hey we're a bit slow but not a huge deal since we were enjoying ourselves and I knew they were super packed and busy that evening. I started the meal with ordering a margarita flight and that was the best decision of the night. It came with 3 flavors including cucumber, pineapple and spicy tamarind. Spicy tamarind was my favorite but they were all so delicious. For entrees I got the enchilada suiza. It was really flavorful and the dish was generally pretty good but it was a tad salty for me. My friend who got the enchiladas con pollo was delicious dish and i loved the flavor profile of that one. We also got the pozole soup which was delicious. Another friend got the chicken mole and the mole profile was chocolatey and velvet and rich. We ended the evening with birthday sparkler surprise with churro desert with chocolate and caramel dipping sauces. I've been wanting to come here for a long time. Hubby and I showed up just before the dinner crowd. I ordered the chicken with black mole. And he got the carnitas. The order came really fast. But for some reason they gave me 3 chicken legs (usually it is served with thighs) and that's it. It was very delicious! I ate it hungrily. But when I was done, I realized I had no rice and beans. After talking to the server, they had inadvertently left it off. I was full anyway, so I was okay without it. But it seemed important to mention it at the time. Chicken asade flavor is good but tried it twice and it's kind of dry so I stick to pork tacos or seafood tacos now which are both great.
