DEVIN had a cancellation so the bookkeeper called me right away and asked if Devin could come over now and fix my leak. I said yes and he was at my house in 20 minutes. I highly recommend Cimarelli's Plumbing. I called Monday morning and Ruben was here within an hour. We discovered a leak over the weekend that might require going into the crawl space under the house to investigate the problem. When I showed Ruben the small entrance in the garage needed to get under the house, I was afraid that might be a deal breaker. But he didn't even hesitate. He displayed confidence and competence, and much to our delight, he managed to fix the problem. I think the price was reasonable for what was involved. So happy to have the water turned back on! Sorry to say that Cimarelli USED TO BE GREAT, but this week they were OPPOSITE OF HELPFUL. We have a floor furnace that needs work. One of the Cimarelli's fixed the floor furnace long ago (over a decade ago?) There were no problems with the furnace between then and last week. The other Cimarelli came out and looked at the furnace, He said he'd write up a proposal to replace the floor furnace with a wall furnace. Today he claimed he sent the proposal last week but we never received it. (I asked Cimarelli if he could email the proposal and he said they don't use email because US Mail is more reliable than email - Hah! ) Talked to him this morning, but we refused to do any work: - First problem was that the soil under the house was wet. He did not want to get dirty. Cimarelli was not clear on the concept of using a plastic tarp to stay clean and dry(!) - Next problem: Claimed he would not fit under the house. Nonsense! I am about his height, and I used to weigh a A LOT -- I was a very large guy -- and I fit under the house. Seems clear Cimarelli doesn't need to do the work and when he doesn't want to do a job he just make stuff up. Lack of integrity? Can anyone reading this recommend a good gas heater repair person that wants to do the work? read more

My very old water heater started leaking a day or so before Christmas (boo). I called Cimarelli's and they scheduled a tech to come out the day after Christmas. He arrived on time fixed a few other problems I had and came back later with a new water heater. Absolutely excellent service. The tech was efficient and the installation perfect. He answered all my questions as well as bringing everything up to code for less than the original estimate. Hard to beat that kind of service. read more

My family has been using Cimarelli's for years. Since the 1950's! They always answer the phone, are professional, ready to do the job when they arrive and efficient. Recently Ruben came to my parents house and he fixed the water line from our water meter to the house, it was previously repaired about 20 years ago but there was a small leak by one 90° elbow, he replaced it and made it simpler with less elbows. He worked quickly and efficiently and also answered questions I had as he was working. I can't comment on their pricing because I only rely on them solely. My grandma who is 97 has been using them since the 50's and since she's been happy with their work over the years that's all we use. The bath tub was backing up, and the outdoor shower. So we called up Mr. National Chain of plumbing (who we happen to have a 15% discount with) to come in and fix the problem. All it needed was a simple snaking. Or so we thought. In comes Mr. National Chain of Plumbing and tries unsuccesfully for *TWO* hours to fix the problem. In the end, the plumber determines it's a break in the pipes and brings his supervisor out to assess the situation. A day later, we're handed an estimate for over $2,000.00 in repair work, and a diagram of the pipe system under the house, which happens to be COMPLETELY WRONG. At this point, the bath tub in another bedroom had begun backing up too. Worst of all, we paid $175.92 *after* our 15% discount to Mr. National Chain of Plumbing and the problem wasn't even fixed. In frustration and exasperation, we called Cimarelli's Plumbing on Laurel Street. Our plumber arrived, took a quick look at the bath tub and outdoor shower and asked if he could get on the roof. The roof? Huh. So he pulls out a ladder, climbs on the roof and commences to make lots of really loud noise for the next 20 minutes. I figure he knows more than I do, so I patiently wait while he does his thing. 20 minutes later, he comes down from the roof and heads to the bath tub. Sure enough, both of the tubs are draining perfectly! In 20 minutes he fixed a problem that it took Mr. National Chain of Plumbing 2 hours NOT to fix. Wow. I'm suitably impressed at this point, and gushing with thanks. Then he heads to the outdoor shower. This is the shower that, acorrding to Mr. National Chain of Plumbing, has a break in the line. 10 minutes later and our Cimarelli's man has fixed that too. We are told there is no break in the line. Just an inept plumber who apparently, doesn't know how to properly snake a drain. In the end, it only cost 30 minutes of our time and $144.00. The drains are back to their normal, happy selves and we have been saved the frustration and expense of a major pipe repair (a major pipe repair, I might add, that never needed to happen!) Cimarelli's is an honest, family business (since 1925!) Next time we have a plumbing issue, I am not wasting my time calling Mr. National Chain of Plumbing. Instead I'll call the family business, and expect to be wowed once again. read more

Excellent quality, and fast and reasonable (one half the cost of another plumber's estimate).

I have used Cimarelli's for over 10 years and had been happy with their work until one incident recently. Had a toilet plugged, Reuben sent his helper to the roof to unplug through the drain pipe while he worked on another toilet that had a leaking screw. The bill that came later was over $245. Without asking my permission, Reuben had changed all the fill valves, flush valves, flapper, the whole nine yards inside the toilet tank. Materials came to be over $80 and this is for a 50 year old toilet. Had he asked me, I would have told him that I have extra fluidmaster kits in the house and all the other parts that he replaced. I was out of town several days after the service. When I came back the toilet was clogged. I called Cimarelli and was told that their work wasn't guaranteed. I told them no one had used the clogged toilet since we were all out of town. They didn't budge. I called another plumber, turned out the clog was not cleared the first time around and I had to pay to clear the clog again. In view of this experience, I would not use Cimarelli again and I am disappointed that they treat their old time customer this way. BTW, when I insisted, they did take off $70 off my bill but I had to pay $170 for the work they did (without my permission)on the toilet. I am very disappointed since I thought I could trust them not to gouge their long time customer. I suggest to everyone that you tell any guys working on your house, to ask your permission before going ahead to replace anything, otherwise you would be receiving a shockingly huge bill. ETA: I just learned that Reuben is now the part owner of Cimarelli. That explains the change in attitude. read more

In two hours, the solution he came up with was several hundred dollars, so we declined. We had a backup in the downstairs bathtub...uh oh. All the stuff you never want to see coming back up. Yuck. So (on the rating of the previous Yelper) I called Cimarelli's this morning, spoke to a very pleasant receptionist who took all the info and gave me a firm hourly rate. They sent someone out this afternoon who had the problem solved in slightly less than an hour, and did it with a smile and bit of humor. Apparently the trees in our front yard have decided to invade the clay sewer pipes (clay? what nimrod 1970's developer thought that would be a good idea?), and a nice little root ball had grown in there. Very professional, very efficient, very clean (important when the sewage system is involved- I know from previous experience) and very cheap...they have a minimum charge of one hour, so it was 110 clams. I will definitely use them again when the root ball grows back. read more

I've used this company many times when remodeling my Seacliff house. No issues. I paid Rubin, the plumber doing the work, on time as work was completed. Then I hired them to do a permitted job on my condo in Aptos. Rubin called on the day the work was scheduled to cancel because he wasn't sure of how to do this job so the inspector would pass the work. He found out too late and we had to set a new date. When Rubin showed up he asked to be paid immediately when the job was done. I have a tenant in the condo and was not going to hang out the 2 hours while he worked. I told him I'd bring the check by the office that afternoon. He insisted on a check right then, before the work was done. I again said I'll bring it by the office. This felt like a very uncomfortable exchange since I was a repeat customer in good standing. The work was completed around 11:45 evidently. I was on the tennis court so I missed the 2 phone calls asking me to pay. They even called my husband at work! I was at the office paying by 12:15 and lucky for them I didn't know about all the phone calls! So they lost a good customer. I will never use a company that treats me like a criminal. Shame on Rubin, who I understand is an owner now. No stars! read more

I would give NO stars or MINUS 10 stars if it were possible!!! Last April, I called Cimarelli's to replace the leaking hose of my KWC pull-out sprayer kitchen faucet. The serviceman told me that it was an old faucet and needed to be replaced, and that it's so old that KWC doesn't make that hose any longer. He then replaced it with a "universal" hose that he had in his truck. I was charged $57.90 for the hose, $4.78 for tax and $216.00 for the 2 1/2 hours labor for a total of $278.68. Home Depot sells this hose for $25.00! When I questioned the labor charge, I was told that "because you live way up in the mountains, we have to charge you that". My house is 1/2 mile off HWY 17! This hose broke after two months and Cimarelli's said they would replace it at no charge but if it broke again, I would have to get a new faucet. I contacted KWC and after sending them pictures of my faucet, they said that my faucet is still under warranty and sent me a new hose at no charge-they even paid the shipping cost. Cimarelli's Reuben and Erin came to install the new KWC hose and were unable to install it. Reuben became quickly frustrated when it wouldn't feed through and told me he would have to charge me 4 hours or more for labor to take off the faucet in order to feed the hose through and remount it. Since this was a "no charge" call, it was obvious to me that he wasn't interested in installing this hose and advised me to replace the faucet with a Grohe faucet. He also told me that KWC had sent me the wrong hose for the faucet and that was why it couldn't be installed. After they left, with my faucet sitting on the kitchen counter and the water shut off, I called another plumber who was here in 20 minutes and he installed the hose in ten minutes. The charge? $60.00!!! I was amazed at how unprofessional, rude and incompetent Cimarelli's men were and how my new plumber took care of the problem in a jiffy with a smile and a very modest charge. read more

Cimarelli's gave me a quote over the phone to replace my old water heater and it was the lowest of the 3 companies that I contacted. Ruebin and his assistant showed up on time and did the job in the pouring rain. It was not an easy job as they had to make some modifications to accomodate some old galvanized steel pipes. They were extremely professional and charged me exactly the quote they gave me on the phone. I would reccommend them without hesitation. read more

My 90 year old dad was quoted $2100.00 for a new water heater, after a call about a leak, which caused an electrical short, to half of his mobile home, by Rosenthal plumbers, Aleco quoted $3,800 to replace all the plugs in his home, and the main panel. So, if we had, "gone for it," we would have been out $5900, on a fixed income. Cimarelli's Rueben, fixed the leak for $165. David Bertsch is going to check out the electric. Their price was almost half of the other quote! The same people who provided the estimate came back to do the installation. These guys replaced a heater thermostat that now sounds like a jet engine when it is turned off and only the pilot light is left running. Not to mention they have it attached with bailing wire. When I called for an explanation, I get someone on the phone who was very short on the phone explaining that is the way it is. This guy clearly did not want to come back and fix his very very sub standard work. I would recommend a 4 year old to do a better job than this plumbing outfit. These people suck!!!!!!! read more

I have used Cimarelli's for years and until today would have given several stars but today, that opinion is changed. I am shocked by dismissive diagnostics of the technician because there was a baby in the house. The overriding diagnostic was that the baby refuse was causing the odor and not necessarily a sewer line issue (bubbling in toilet when shower in use). Although after proding, the technician snaked the line-which seems to have taken care of the problem at present; the inappropriate statements caused a ridiculous amount of stress. If customer service is the goal - then I would say further training is required. If I ever call Cimarelli's back -- I will at least ask for a different technician. Disappointed. read more

If I could rate this company a zero- I would. They came out to check our pipes as our hot water pressure was very bad and pipes needed changing. After Reuben came out and tried to do a quick fix until we could have the full job done, it turned out after $311 we had no hot water at all after he left. They were supposed to give us an estimate on replacing hot water pipes/water heater - which we finally received 7 days later. Meanwhile, we had already found a different plumbing company that came out, gave us the estimate the same day and did the work in 6 hours a couple of days later - it all works perfect now. We finally received an estimate from Cimarelli's and it was 3 times the amount of what we had just paid to be done AND they included that they would have to cut through a wall panel (and the repair of the wall was my responsibility to fix after), and that it would take 4 days to complete. This company is a joke, a rip off - PLEASE save yourself the money, time and stress and go somewhere else!!! read more
