    Mushroom crustini
    Ophelia M.

Checked out Club 23 while staying at a cabin nearby in Briggsville. We're on an ongoing quest to visit all the supper clubs in Wisconsin, so were excited to add another stop to the list! You enter to a bar area and just past that is the hostess stand where you can get on the list for a table. We were there around 7pm on a Friday and the bar was packed. We opted to put our name on the list and go wait outside in the sunshine with beautiful views of the farm across the street. They gave us a buzzer, so we were able to enjoy the fresh air while waiting for our table. In retrospect, they also have an outdoor patio that is for those waiting as well and we could have got a cocktail at the bar and brought it outside. We waited for 30-40 minutes for our table (it was Friday night after all!). Once seated, we ordered Manhattans (lovely!) as well as their mushroom crostini appetizer. We both agreed the mushroom crostini stole the show. With big crusty pieces of parmesan bread and a bowl of savory, saucy mushrooms--it was nothing short of delicious. For my main course, I opted for the grilled salmon and the roasted red potatoes for the side. All of their entrees come served with soup or salad and we both opted for salads. They make their parmesan salad dressing in house and it is outstanding! The grilled salmon was overcooked and as bit dry but comes with drawn butter (I'd prefer perfectly cooked salmon without the need for butter). The roasted reds were delish! The service was lovely. The atmosphere was loud. Like sports bar on play off game night loud. There were several large groups and lemme tell ya...LOUD. Our server had to lean in and speak in our ears (and vice versa) in order to be heard. I'm thinking if I went again it would be on a slower weeknight as opposed to Friday. The volume made it nearly impossible to chat with my dining companion. Other than that (which is certainly not their fault), a great first experience! Get to it! (but seriously, maybe on, say, a Tuesday)

We called ahead earlier in the week and asked if they took reservations, and they do not. They mentioned that their wait goes pretty quickly. When we got there, we actually got to be seated right away. When you walk in, the bar is on the left, but you actually check in right inside the dining area off to the right. They aren't like other supper clubs that bring you bread or crackers. Once you sit down, the waitress grabs your drink order and your food order. You get a choice of salad or soup, so you do get something before your meal. Some in our group had questions about substitutions on meals and they were not willing to do so. It was just skipping croutons on a salad and they were not having it. She found something else, but I just thought I'd mention it, just in case someone in your party is used to ordering with substitutions. We all had salads to start but also ordered the mushroom crostini. That was phenomenal! We even saved the extra sauce to put on our steaks later! Our party got grilled shrimp with steamed broccoli, ribeye with a baked potato, seered scallops with French fries, and the filet with a baked potato. The filet was extremely fatty and burnt all around it, when I only ordered it M. It even tasted burnt, so I had to load it up with salt in order to eat it. My husband ordered the scallops and loved it. For $35 you get a TON of scallops. We had tried another place the night before that was $2 cheaper but you only got FOUR scallops. A cousin got grilled shrimp and steamed broccoli, and she loved them! Her husband got the ribeye steak and liked it but it had a lot more fat than a normal ribeye would. Overall we liked our service and the food was delicious for the majority of our group.

Side salad with tomato basil dressing

Came here for drinks and dinner. This was mine and my finance's first time here but the people we went with go there fairly often. I had a side salad with the tomato basil dressing and the shrimp Alfredo. The dressing for the salad was good but the salad itself was a little boring. The shrimp Alfredo was good but seemed a little expensive for what it was. Overall a decent place to go. Waitress was nice.

felt more like a diner than a dining club - uncomfortable chair, flimsy tables, nothing memorable about the food.

We opted to sit at the bar to eat sooner; it's made of beautiful sculpted wood facing a cute tiled wall. Our waitstaff was so nice and helpful despite being extremely busy with constant orders. I had a mushroom, spinach, and cheese omelette with wheat toast and the signature breakfast salad with warm bacon and onion dressing. The salad is DELICIOUS and I highly recommend it. The omelet was decent-I prefer my ingredients inside the omelet and this restaurant serves the ingredients on top, so it's a preference thing. Anyway, if you are hanging around the downtown Dells, definitely check out this cafe, but be patient because a lot of other folks are, too!

They have big leather swivel chairs that are actually comfy. The bar was very lively on a weekday at 4 pm. Watermelon mojito was one of the best I've ever had , followed it up with a great espresso martini. Ordered the fried clams appetizer which was good but many pieces were so small and thin that they seemed pure batter and no clam. The escargo was covered in a mexi-cheese blend that I found strange at first but tastes delicious- just more like Wisconsin escargo then French . They came with delicious crispy bread bites that we soaked up all the extra cheese and juices. Broccoli cheddar soup was the best I've ever had and absolutely loved the steak medallions with onions and dude of sauce . Steak was perfectly cooked. I loved this place and can't wait to come back

Five large shrimp that were very good with a baked potato on the side. My wife got the encrusted salmon and was surprised that it was encrusted in a bread crumb cheese mixture. She really enjoyed it. Our friends got the chicken with pasta and the walleye - two thumbs up. We decided to try their ice cream drinks for dessert. One pink squirrel and one brandy Alexander. Both were good but we have had better and bigger versions at other supper clubs. Prices were typical for a supper club - not cheap.

The steakhouse is tucked away at the end of a gravel road and quite small/quaint. It was dark when we arrived so we did not get a chance to enjoy the beautiful scenery I read about. The service was good and they were attentive. The food on the other hand was a little disappointing. The soups at the salad bar were mainly broth and not very flavorful other than one was overwhelming peppered. The rest of the salad bar was fresh and had many options to choose from. We ordered stuffed mushrooms for the table. My friends enjoyed them. For me, they were a little in the blank side and too cream cheesy. My steak was a tad overcooked for medium rare. It lacked flavor despite the garlic butter and mushrooms. The mashed potatoes were heavily peppered as well. I found that my leftovers tasted much better than the night of the meal.

There are two Famous Dave's in town and tis is not the one with a big parking lot. But we were still able to park nearby, and they had plenty of room inside the restaurant to accommodate our group of 14. Being a large group, we were surprised they were able to seat us right away. Downside: the spot they put us in was pretty tight, but once we were sitting the only reason that mattered was that the server couldn't reach half our table. There was a lot of passing drinks and dishes across the table to those on the end. We keep coming to Famous Dave's because the food is delicious. Lots of tasty barbecue to choose from, and we like the variety of table sauces. There are usually more sauces on the table than there were this time. Our end of the table only had two of the sauces (they'd pushed a few tables together for us), and the other end had three, so...more passing things down the table. But if we didn't already know to look for them, or if we'd been a smaller group at a two-sauce table, we would have missed out. Some of us ordered the All-American BBQ Feast. It had a good variety of meats, plus cornbread muffins and fries. So, so many fries. Like, way more fries than we needed. I would gladly have given up most of that pile of fries for one more slice of brisket (which was a little light). But still, that food is delicious, so I guess we've gotta keep coming. Some of the kids in our group ordered kids meals--no complaints about the chicken tenders. And the kids also get pig ear hats, with activities on the back, to keep them busy while waiting for food to arrive.
