The old fashions are great and very cheap. most cocktails are very reasonable. The Friday night fish fry sucks. I don't think I even got 3oz .of baked haddock with my senior meal. Not worth the price. Ribs are awesome and Walleye is good . Steaks and prime rib are good but pricey. The menu prices on this site are not correct. Expect to pay around 2.00 more for the food per entrée. Foxy's bar in Briggsville has a much better fish fry and shrimp dinner hands down! Came here with a group of 12, on a Saturday night, and I was surprised at how well they accommodated us. The flat iron steaks are delicious, and sit in a pool of butter. Perfect medium rare! The servers are very nice and it has a cool atmosphere, and location. I only gave three stars because a friend of mine was shorted a few shrimp (which are also very good), and the water has a nasty sulfur taste. read more

When in Rome... We wanted a nicer dinner after a day of skiing at Cascade Mountain and found this place on Yelp. Probably the best choice for Portage, WI. It is in the middle of nowhere, but that's a requirement for Wisconsin supper clubs. Beyond that, this is probably the nicest supper club you'll ever go to. Looks like it was recently remodeled (nice decor, fresh paint, etc.) and has a paved parking lot! Drinks were really cheap and the bar area was nice, though very crowded and somewhat loud. The food was good. Try the flat-iron steak, though be warned that it was a bit over-seasoned (they get a lot of mileage out of their garlic butter sauce). I asked for it medium rare and they actually cooked it medium rare (an increasingly difficult thing to find these days). And the key lime pie was surprisingly good. Steer clear of the cheese+anything soup unless you have an appointment with your cardiologist the next day. Service was decent, but nothing special. Dress code is casual; we saw the gamut from hoodie and jeans to collared shirt + sweater and slacks. If you're looking for an authentic Wisconsin supper club, this ain't it (you're going to have to continue north for that). But it is a decent meal at a very fair price. read more

I went here to avoid the tourist crowd and raised prices of Wis Dells. I read about their doused in butter flat iron steak, and knew I had to go. It's real easy to get from there, it's kind of in the middle of no where. Very kind service. My mom thought the look was dated, but I don't care. The bread was tasty, soft. The steak and the garlicy butter was too good. Way too much bad fats...oh well. It was seared, served on one of the those sizzle plates. There was no extra gristle or fat. Finally - a vegetable This has been my one complaint about Cimaroil's for the decade I have been coming here.... no vegetables (Their veggie is squash, which is a starch) Tonight I ordered the special, which was salmon over rice with vegetable. I asked the gal what the veggie was and she stated squash... so i was thrilled when i actually saw real vegetables. If you're in the area and looking for a fish fry it just doesn't get any better than Cimaroli's. All of there food is really good but the fish fry is tremendous. We've actually only ever gone on Friday and it is busy. Extremely busy and you will likely wait but it is worth it. Usually they have some man on a guitar to entertain you so it's not that bad. The old fashioneds are great - brandy sweet, the only way to go. And cheap! Back to the fish. We like the perch. The sides are also a huge part of what makes the dinner so good. Baked beans = good. Cole slaw = good. Fries = good. Tartar = good. Perch = good. THE CORN NUGGETS WITH HONEY BUTTER = WOW!!!!! The corn nuggets are great. The honey butter takes it to the next level. My husband and I were having a nice dinner when a table near us thought we were talking about their misbehaving son. We were having a conversation about our day when one of the women came over and were verbally attacking us. They were obviously very over served. When we said we did not know what she was referring to .her husband came over and used profanity. I seriously couldn't understand what they were taking about. Their son was running around the table and annoying most people in the dining room. I was afraid to leave my seat to leave. Very scary. We were comped our appetizer but I could not even eat my main course. They should have been asked to leave and called a cab for transportation due to extreme intoxication. Food: I had the 10 oz flat iron steak (apparently their signature dish) with a baked potato and dinner roll. While not terrible the food could be described as average at best. While claimed it was their most flavorful steak I must confess I did not enjoy the flavor as I found it bland even with onions and mushrooms. I was forced to resort to steak sauce to improve the dish. The baked potato was good and met expectations. Unfortunately the dinner roll, while good, was nothing more than a pre-baked frozen roll heated up prior to serving. My wife had the fried shrimp and baked potato and loved the shrimp very much. Service: Our waitress was prompt and did a nice job at fulfilling all requests. Atmosphere: while the outside is quite lovely I found the interior to be rather confining and below expectations set by the exterior. It just appears to have been cheaply done somehow. My only recommendation to anyone going to this establishment is have a designated driver! The drinks are more than reasonable and more than a generous pour, and you are going to be in the very busy bar for over an hour with very efficient bar tenders, if it's a Friday or Saturday night. The food is as good as it gets! So if you don't mind standing in a very crowded bar that is so loud you can hardly converse to wait for probably an hour and a half to get a table for an awesome meal and really cheap drinks then this is the place for you! Love this place the food is awesome. 1st time here I had the steak they are known for (Flat Iron). It's offered in 3 size done to your liking. Can be topped off with onions, shrooms or bacon, 2 of them you can have fresh or sautéed. Can you guess which two? Tuesday through Thursday the have a rib special and I have never been disappointed. I'm always making my coworkers envious when I take the left overs to work the next day. It's a little bit of a drive for me but well worth it. I will always return! read more

This flat iron steak is the BEST steak I have ever had, and I have had quite a few. The atmosphere is great, and the owner is usually around. The service is perfect, the dining area is large and feels uncrowded even when there is a crowd. I have only had the flat iron steak, but people I have been with have said that their meals were wonderful as well. This is a place you will come back to over and over. I live more than 100 miles away, and I get up there just to eat a few times a year. August 11, 2012 - I just went back for dinner, and it was FANTASTIC. I sat on the deck for the first time, and it was very quiet compared to the dining room or bar. The service, as always, was A+. My husband a couple 7 and 7's, which he said were excellent, and the price, $3 each, was a deal. Our total bill, 2 steak dinners, and 2 drinks, was $41. This was recommended by a local here. Best place we ate during our stay. Although everyone talks about their steak, we got fish and shrimp. My shrimp platter was amazing. Parking lot full but we only waited about 30min on a Friday night around 6:00. Food comes comes out very fast which is a plus with hungry kids. I can honestly say I will never be back there again. I will tell anyone that will listen this place is not about service. My family and I went there for my birthday, immediately felt as though the staff was irritated by our group. Not sure if the staff is just that overwhelmed or racist. We had 17 people in our group so had a section of the restaurant but they also squeezed a little table of 4 in the corner in the same section we were in. When our order came out they gave my 12 year old a steak with mushrooms and onions. He told them he didn't order it that way. My brother confirmed he didn't order the steak with mushrooms and onions as he doesn't eat either. Small mixup but the server was upset. They brought out cold soup and was upset. Well my son accidentally flicked an onion at the group of 4 in the corner, he was trying to shove the onions and mushrooms off of his steak. I seen my son look over at the table and seemed upset, was told he flicked an onion at the table next to him. I went over to my son and asked him to apologize, immediately he shut down as he was upset. The people at the table said "oh it's ok, just leave it alone". A couple minutes later my son told my brother that the couple started swearing at him, this is why he shut down. My husband and brother obviously were upset and said something to the couple. Our servers were not in sight. None of the employees were around. At this point I asked for boxes to take our food. we all lost our appetite, food was ok nothing special. I am just upset thinking about everything that went wrong and the staff didn't care what was going on. After spending hundreds of dollars they were quick to clean up up table and not even ask what went wrong. We weren't even out the door and our tables were cleaned. Went to this very rural restaurant on a Friday night and loved it. "Kaiser party of 2, Kaiser party of 2" Except for the load speaker we were seated under on the outside deck. Yep, outside even though the rain was threatening on the horizon. Too smoky inside. "Kaiser party of 2, Kaiser party of 2" I don't mind if there is smoking as long as a non-smoking alternative is provided. The beer battered all-you-can-eat fish rocked. Apparently the reason for previous bad reviews on the food is due to the kitchen staff drinking and texting while cooking the food on a Saturday night at a 7PM dinner. Pulling up outside this place looks great. The wait was a bit long, but 45 minutes for a table of 9 on a Saturday prime time evening I thought was reasonable. That is about all that was good about this place. Due to our wait for our table, our whole party of 9 knew what we wanted prior to being seated in the dining room. After being seated in the noisy restraint, a pleasant waitress greeted us and took both our food and drink order. After waiting 10-15 minutes for our drinks, 7 of which were diet soda, our salad came. Still no sign of drinks. The $2 upcharge to add a salad was not worth it, unless you like pale iceberg lettuce with 2 croutons and two cherry tomatoes. When i did ask the server where the drinks were, her response was, "I don't make the drinks, I only make the salads. I have to wait for them from the bar." Apparently miss pleasant can turn into miss attitude quite quickly. My experiences as a server is to WAIT to make the salads, or to make them and keep them in the kitchen until my table has received their drinks. Realize when I'm saying drinks, this includes the 7 diet sodas. Once the salads were picked at, the dinner did come promptly. The cooks did do well at getting the temperature of the meat right, but it was swimming in what I would call a greasy buttery mess. I decided to add the $2 upcharge of mushrooms which were CANNED mushrooms, oh so rubbery and so salty I couldn't eat them. Upon leaving the restaurant, we did bring attention of our experience to the hostess who's response was that it was the owner in the back drinking. Apparently he allows his staff to drink while cooking as well since there were multiple cooks drinking and texting while waiting for the steaks to cook. How do I know this you ask?!? I was lucky enough to be seated at our table with complete view through the glass window into the kitchen. If this is how you like to be talked to by a server and don't mind that the cooks are drinking, then this is your place. If you know what good steak is, I would not bother to stop. read more

He was shouting out insults to the customers and was acting completely inappropriate. He was calling out people individually and making fun of them. I found this behavior completely appalling. Came with a group of 15 friends on a Saturday night and our group asked for 14 separate checks. I thought the waitress was going to faint. She thought then counted her tickets and carried on. Unanimously we agreeded the food and service was excellent and a good value. To get 15 people to agree on any thing is almost unheard of. Had a great dinner once again at Cimaroli's. I had the 5 ounce flat iron with mushrooms and onions. I love that the steak stays hot during your entire meal due to the hot plate it is served on. My husband had prime rib and enjoyed that as well. We shared the corn fritters and the crab dip with the friends we dined with. Both were great - they serve the crab dip on delicious bread that is maybe deep-fried quickly?? We had 2 mixed drinks, 1 beer, appetizer and 2 steak dinners (one with a shrimp add-on) for $53! Worth the wait AND the drive! (Feels like it's in the middle of nowhere, but a nice relaxing drive!). We arrived at 5pm Friday night and already we're told the wait would be 1.5 hours, we waited just a little over an hour but my family of 6 was so glad we did. We found out this family style restaurant has been family owned for 3 generations. Our meals were all delicious. My husband got the prime rib, I got their skirt steak- So. Much. Flavor! We both ordered the garlic butter mini potatoes, we didn't expect them to be deep fried, but the were and sitting in a bowl of garlic butter. Maybe that would have been my only complaint, I personally would have liked to have just had mine roasted vs. deep fried & sitting in butter, but they were still good enough to eat! 2 of my kids got the shrimp, and my other 2 got the chicken tenders. Normally chicken tenders are store bought and boring, but you could see the batter was their own and freshly made to order. You could see the fresh seasoning in the batter and it was perfect. The honey mustard was even a perfect blend of not too much honey or mustard! The staff was very kind and our drinks while we waited were delish!! Hats off to you Cimarolis!!! So, the drive out to this place may make you wonder what you're going to find ... but once here the atmosphere is wonderful! We had a 70th Anniversary party here (yes, that was 7, 0!) And not only was the staff wonderful but the whole experience made the dinner very special. From pre-dinner drinks on the deck and sitting at the bar ... all the way through to dessert. The food is phenomenal and don't forget the old fashions!!!! While I live in another state, this is on my list to stop at again when I'm back in town visiting family! Love it! read more

If you can find it you will love it. Every time we visit family in Portage we drive to the supper club and have the FLAT IRON Steak. Used to be smokey but Wisconsin has gone non-smoking so fear not. Bar on one side and cozy (kinda close) seating on the other. Have never ordered anything besides the Flat Iron so I can't give you a range but I have eaten here many times and if the menu has a special page just for one dish you should probably order the flat iron, comes on a hot cast iron skillet with terrible for you garlic butter. read more

The reviews I read prior to dining at Cimaroli's Supper Club raved on and on about the restaurant's steaks. So naturally, the majority of our party chose to order the steak. My boyfriend and myself both opted for the New York Strip. I have to say that I do not feel the quality of the steak was worth the prices charged. In our opinion, the steak tasted more like a fritter than a New York Strip. My 9 year old sister had the $4.99 Chicken Fingers; we tried some of her's and left wishing we had ordered those instead! Other than that, the atmosphere is nice, the onion ring appetizer was great and the rolls were also very good. We were a party of four on Saturday night. Hour wait to be seated then took orders and received food quickly. My parents got the 8 oz prime rib $22 and said it was ok but better at other places they have eaten it. My beef medallions $22 and other guest ribeye $25 were cooked as ordered. Both good but none of the food had much for flavor. Side order of lightly breaded shrimp $6 was Not lightly breaded and flavorless but just ok. The Italian potatoes were small canned with some garlic butter, very little flavor. Also got rolls, they said were good and warm. Service was excellent. Only saw a few drunk patrons that prob shouldn't have been allowed in eating area. It is about 15 miles in middle of nothing. Not worth drive or prices. More flavorful food at other restaurants in Dells. Could hear patrons talk about how good the alcohol drinks were and cheaply priced.
