    Chicken Quesadilla

Place has been here for a bit and I remember going here frequently until we moved across town. Now we are back in the neighborhood and it is still solid and reliable as it used to be. Consistent and great tasting food is why I used to frequent this establishment. I had ordered a few things for the family for takeout and the gals were friendly and helpful. I had ordered a Chicken. Quesadilla and a few other items. It was ready really quick and I got a few of their salsas which were also tasty. Definitely going to go and get more of their items like Tacos and other fare.

Our favorite (almost weekly) place for authentic Mexican food! Friendly and always clean and quick! Great food! I get a Regular Chili Verde burrito (wet) and he gets soft carnitas and or chicken tacos. Never disappoints! So yummy!

This is what I call the " best hidden gem on the periphery of Concord, CA ". If you are craving for burritos, tacos, Chile Mole, Fajitas, Nachos and other authentic Mexican food, this is the place to be. Bring your family and friends and enjoy what ever your palate desires in their menu. The food is flavorful and I'm very sure your tastebuds will surely enjoy a whole new world of flavors. The price of their meal is very reasonable. The staffs are courteous and professional. The interior space is ample for your family and friends. The design concept of the interior is well thought. I believe the theme concept of the interior is a " Rustic Revival ", an industrial farmhouse decor ideas. The theme provides a contrasting elements, evoking the simplicity of farmhouse house decor and the rugged charm of industrial aesthetics as shown by the metal feature surrounding the incandescent light bulbs. You will surely feel at home. How can you resist great food, excellent service and a relaxing ambiance. The place is clean and very organized. I highly recommend the place for special family events. This place is also great for your everyday dietary needs. After a tiring day at work, this is the place to be........ to relax and enjoy a hearty and flavorful meal with your loved ones and friends.

Crispy chicken tacos plate - Yummy!

***3.5 Stars*** A solid option for fast casual Mexican cuisine. If you know me, you know I love me some Mexican food. Especially when it's good and cheeeaap! Mm hmm. Concord has a TON of wonderful taquerias and I'm on a mission to try them all. Literally. Came here for a quick dinner about a month ago and this little place definitely hit the spot. They have a cute little outdoor patio area setup in front of their building. Since it was a nice day out, decided to dine outside. There's no table service here and they're still using to-go containers whether you dine there or take it to go. They are still closed for indoor dining (it's a tiny space, so it'll probably be a while before that happens any time soon). Their menu is pretty simple but still full of most Mexican food faves. I came here for the crispy tacos. I've been in search of a replacement crispy taco spot ever since the last taqueria that I used to frequent for them let me down hard. Ordered at the counter and the ladies were really pleasant. One thing to note is that they charge a fee if you're paying with your card, and I believe that this is regardless of how much you spend. Womp womp. But honestly, it's not that bad. Plus, they give you free chips and salsa and I'm ALL about that life. And, they're actually really yummy too. All of their salsas are pretty bomb, but my favorite so far is their hot red salsa. It has a wonderful kick to it. Price-wise, I'd say that they're pretty on par with the other taquerias in the neighborhood. So about those tacos; me likey... me likey a lot! They were beautifully deep fried and stuffed with fresh lettuce and cheese. Also really enjoyed the crunch factor. I ordered them with chicken. While the chicken wasn't the most flavorful that I've ever had, the meat was pretty juicy. The only thing that was missing was all of the other condiments that you'd typically find on crispy tacos. You know... sour cream, pico de gallo, and even just plain tomatoes. They only serve their crispy tacos with cheese and lettuce. Hmmm. Def need more than that on my tacos, but they were still yummy nonetheless. The beans and rice were both very flavorful and they tasted authentic. Portions were adequate for the price. Also had their horchata and is tasted perfect. You can definitely tell that it's homemade. There's tons of parking since this taqueria is located in a large shopping complex with several other businesses. Cinco De Mayo is actually a small taqueria chain that has a few other locations in both Martinez and Concord. This was my first time ever trying them, and I would definitely come back again if I was in the area. Just hoping that they'll add some more toppings to their crispy tacos in the future because I really do enjoy them.

Just came in for a quick bite and kept it simple - carnitas soft tacos and shrimp soft tacos. The carnitas tacos were on small corn tortillas, so more in line with street tacos. Just some onion and cilantro and a squeeze of lime and they were good to go. Pretty juicy so get some napkins. The shrimp tacos were a little bigger and had this chipotle sauce and cabbage - very good. I am looking forward to trying some other items.

Grilled chicken super burrito no beans.

I have gone here since 2007/08 of course prices went up everything has gone up. As far as down hill....not at all This place has gone up. It was always a good place but the last few years we frequent cinco at least once a week. Food is always hot. and good. I prefer the grilled chicken as my meat here. Chile relleno is good, wet burrito has been my go to lately. But I always recommend the grilled chicken taco at least 4! We also get the Al pastor a lot as well. Rice and beans are always consistent. I always order my burritos without beans and they fill my burritos with plenty of meat and not skimp since I order no beans and I love that. The ladies are never rude to us they are always sweet and food is served up fairly quick. The girl at the front is always nice and We even joke because they recognize us being regulars. We usually get takeout but I know it is still a popular place for the high school still too. A nice local small business and happy we have them right in the neighbir

I discovered this place because I take my son to Kumon and while I wait for him, I am pretty hungry. I ordered a super al pastor burrito and omg, it was so good! It was so good, that we went back the next day and bought another one. I've also tried their bean and cheese burrito. I think I'll add onions next time because it was kinda blah, but it was still good. The service was good too.

The taquitos and guacamole here are really good! Plus the owner (I think he's the owner) recognizes me and is friendly which I appreciate.

The zucchini was cooked perfectly and not overcooked or soggy at all, which made the whole burrito taste fresh and flavorful. We also got the appetizer with the chips, zucchini, arugula, and cheese and that ended up being one of my favorite dishes. Everything paired together really well and had a lot of flavor without feeling too heavy. I also tried the mango margarita with tajín on the rim and really liked it because it wasn't overly sweet. Super refreshing and balanced. The Dude ordered the chicken enchiladas with verde sauce and really enjoyed those as well. Customer service was also really good. They checked on us periodically throughout the meal and everyone was friendly and attentive without hovering. Overall the restaurant felt clean, relaxed, and comfortable. Definitely a spot we would come back to again. Especially a lot of vegetarian options ! Vegetarian approved!!!

There's a ton of seating inside, and everything is very spacious. Though, I do have to say it always feels incredibly empty for some reason and there's never anybody actually inside outside of a few tables, but they do have tons of takeout so perhaps that's the tradeoff. However, don't let the lack of eating patrons inside the place put you off. This taqueria offers a good variety of different options as any taqueria would offer, and many of the options have pictures and stuff with it. The service here is, kind of hit or miss. The people in the front usually aren't overly friendly, and will sometimes feel like they're just there until the clock turns work over. Sometimes they're bordering on rude as they just kind of give you an indifferent stare as you're ordering, or will just feel as if they're half listening and not even looking up. The service was a bit better when I dined in, so perhaps maybe it's just the takeout, although it's usually the same person for both. Price wise, it's certainly not going to be cheap. If you want the best bang for your buck around here, El Aguila probably won't be it as there's a plethora of taquerias in this area. Food quality wise, it's pretty good overall. There are some tasty dishes here that will certainly warrant the little bit of extra cost here compared to other places. Things that I have tried here are the burritos and the torta. The burritos here are yummy as they they will have ingredients inside the burrito that is slightly different than your cookie cutter burrito at any other place. It really does help adds layers of flavor to it that other places do not offer. However, the best part of it is indeed the fact they grill the outside of the burrito to get that nice flakiness that wrap, and makes it a oh so rewarding experience. Meat portions was okay, but wish it had more especially for the cost. The torta I got was pretty good, as the ingredients inside were pretty typical so nothing really stood out. The break was toasted well, but I do wish it was a bit softer as it may have been to toasted. Should be toasted outside and soft inside, but this one just felt toasted all over. The meat portion also suffers from the same issue as the burrito as that it's not as generous as it could be. However, the flavors and taste were fine. It's certainly a nice place for those who want a bit of a different style of their Mexican cuisine. They have some flavors here that will be atypical of most of the cookie cutter taquerias around. While they are a bit expensive comparatively, the portions are actually decent (minus the meats). You can certainly be filled with just a single burrito. Worth a visit.

A Great Weekend Lunch with Flavorful Dishes and Amazing Warm Dips…read more We had lunch here on a weekend and found plenty of tables available both inside and outside. Don't let the underwhelming plaza and ambiance fool you--the staff are great, and the food itself is incredibly flavorful and tasty. As soon as you are seated, they immediately serve you warm tortilla chips alongside salsa and a warm, cheesy bean dip that is absolutely amazing. The entrees completely delivered on flavor: * Wet Super Burrito: I got this with steak, and it was delicious. It comes loaded with salsa, sour cream, and guacamole. My only minor critique is that the guacamole was just okay, and hopefully they can improve that flavor in the future. * Ground Beef Enchilada: My son got this, served with rice and beans. It came out perfectly warm, very flavorful, and he absolutely loved it. * Chicken and Shrimp Fajitas: My wife ordered these, and they were served on a fantastic, sizzling skillet. To drink, we ordered a pitcher of frozen margaritas, which was nice and refreshing. We also finished the meal with the flan for dessert, which was not bad at all. Our only real complaint was a situational one regarding the outdoor seating. The wind was causing the outdoor drapes to repeatedly hit the metal frame, creating a loud, disturbing noise throughout our meal. Aside from that background noise, it was a wonderful lunch. If you are looking for excellent flavor and great service, this place is well worth the visit!

Feb 2 2025 3.5 stars…read more Lately our go to Mexican eats is Cinco De Mayo in Martinez. Christians-smh. It is Sunday and Cinco is closed. The server and service here at Isla was perfect. I pointed out to he waiter that he had a crumb on his chin and he wiped and chuckled like a nice champ. The music is pleasant but a bit louder than needed so I brought out the earplugs. The entire indoor setup is nice. Our food is arriving after what seems like a long wait meaning either the food is being served fresh, hot and tasty, or we are in for a mediocre experience. Our two plates arrived. Chilli relleno and Grilled chicken enchilada. I'm not a fan of the aesthetics of the smallish squair white plates. Reminds me of trying to look upscale. We own plates like these and that didn't work. Wife's enchilada plate was covered with three hot and very tasty chicken filled food bombs plus sides. The chili plate looked a little weak (too much plate showing) but that was the tastiest chilli relleno ever in 40 years of me enjoying these. Served hot with cheese filled up to the ying yang, an extra spiciness I have never had before that I loved and me wishing I had a spoon to scrape up the end of the sauce. Unfortunately the smallish rice and bean servings on both plates were luke warm and tasted so so. . I had similar hotter to those with tv dinners back in the day. The two plates and a coke at $43 has me scratching my chin on whether we will make that drive again. That is unless it is Sunday. Then possibly. .

After giving it some thought, I decided to return and explore what it was about Isla that everyone raved over. This time around, I ordered the fish tacos, and I was hooked! Isla's fish tacos are phenomenal--easily the best in the area and a must-have every single time. I usually go for the tilapia, though I've sampled the red snapper as well. They come out super crispy on the outside yet remain incredibly moist inside, with the salsa and toppings melding together perfectly. I also visited their new location today and was pleasantly surprised by the ample parking and comfortable seating. The space is beautiful, making it even more enjoyable to stop by for those irresistible fish tacos. Here's a quick rundown of my ratings: Fish (all varieties): 8.7/10 Birria: 7/10 (good, but not their standout item) Carne Asada Super Burrito: 5.8/10 When it comes to satisfying my fish taco cravings, Isla remains the only choice.

The parking lot in front is small. There was one open spot so we grabbed it. I think there may be more parking out back but I don't know for sure. They seated us right away but it was the last open table - and it wasn't a great table, right by the front door and everyone waiting for take out or a table! But we were happy to be seated. They brought chips and 4 bottles of salsa in squeeze bottles. They were all delicious but one was super spicy so be on the lookout for that! They took our order, brought us water and our beers. All were very good. Then the food came!
