I rarely leave reviews but had to here. I'll start with a 'pro'; Cindy's has so many stations and employees that you will always be fit in for a mani/pedi no matter the time or the day. And that's great. But I am giving Cindy's 2 stars for the following reasons; First, I went with my friend before her wedding, and they were LITERALLY INCAPABLE of putting an embellishment or design in her ring finger. All she asked for was a line on her ring finger! A single silver line! Or a jewel! This women at Cindy's acted like this was impossible and extremely annoying (at my usual nail place this would have taken 1 minute), then said it wouldn't work and tried doing a bow if you can call it that, in a light silver glitter, and it looked comically bad. We were polite and asked her to remove it, and she said, verbatim, "you're driving me crazy", and "you don't like anything", etc etc. This was literally the rudest nail salon employee I have ever met. Maybe I'm spoiled, but where I go, I tip almost 50% because of the quickness, politeness, and the talent of the nail salon I go to. Here, I really hate to say this, but I didn't want to tip her at all. She certainly was not working with the attitude that we are paying $70 for this mani and pedi. Both women almost made you feel apologetic that you were even there asking them to do your nails. read more

They take you in, and they are actually nice to you! Unlike broadway nails and massage, this place understands customer service. Thank you! There's a reason you've been in the neighborhood well over a decade when everything else seems to be replaced by chase bank or Duane Reade. People work hard, well I do. I don't treat myself on a weekly basis to self care at a salon, bc o work too damn much ... so.... when I do, I need to be cared for, welcomed and everything else I can work with. They do great work, it's a great setting and the owners are incredibly kind. I didn't go there for a long time, but now I'm back. Thank you! read more

I'm not a girl who needs to have her nails done all the time. For me, it's a simple indulgence I like to have every few months. I have found that my visits to Cindy's fit that need. They're not expensive-- about $28 for a basic mani/pedi, and they're totally relaxing. The space is fairly quiet, and the nail technicians are friendly. I highly recommend Cindy's if you're looking for a way to spend a relaxing hour of your day and to walk out with pretty nails. read more

So I'm downgrading this just a little. They're still cheap and cheerful - but their pedicures leave a little to be desired. It's just that they aren't very thorough on the foot scrubbing front. If you run, like me, and your feet need a little TLC then you should search elsewhere for serious foot attention! read more

I have been here over half a dozen times or so when I've been staying on the UWS and the experience has been consistently good. They are efficient & I have been happy with their manis & pedis. Also great seated chair massage (wonderful after a flight in from the west coast). read more

Loved my tech Kelly, she was very nice and helpful in choosing a color. A big step up from some of the other salons who have rude techs or speak to each other constantly in another language ('are you talking about me?' paranoia stinks). The snag? The place felt dirty and they would only accepts tips in cash - there's an ATM 'conveniently' on site for a $2 charge. A shame because the mani & pedi look great for $29.50 read more

They were very kind and took my friend and me for manicures 30 mins before closing. What they lacked in detail and focus, they made up for in their accommodating and kind nature. They have every great color- new and old- essie and OPI and some others- and although I didn't love my manicure (it was a bit messy) I think my friend's was much better and overall, we were satisfied. read more

I stopped by here earlier this week for an emergency manicure the night before a big client meeting. For a walk-in place, this place is awesome. It's very clean, the manicurist was friendly, efficient and gave me a great manicure, and open fairly late, for the area. And it was only $9.50. I think I just found my new local spot. read more

I'm from Brooklyn, so this area is not my turf. That being said, a friend and I took the risk and came to Cindy's to get manicures and catch up on some good gossip. We were in and out within 45 minutes and my nails looked great! Cindy's is a busy but clean salon with friendly faces. I had the pleasure of getting a manicure by Ada, a very kind tech who took the time to open my coffee lid for me, move my things, and ask how I was doing. Five days and a semi-drunken New Years Eve later, the polish on my fingers is seriously as good as new! My friend's nails are still in tact too. Now I know - Cindy's, you are my choice of nail salon on the UWS. read more

I don't think I've had a worst customer experience IN MY LIFE. The first time I went in to get a manicure, the woman in charge very rudely told us to go to the basement. Because I didn't see the basement (or expect to go down there), I asked "sorry, go where?" and she responded "Can you please just go? Go! We're very cramped up here." Um...ok... I went downstairs and got my nails done by a sweet girl. She was very nice, so I hate having to critique her service, but it was a poor job. The second layer of polish did not actually fully cover the first layer, so you could see two shades of colors on my nails. My friend had her nails done by another nice girl, but that girl made my friend's cuticles bleed. Still, if this was all of what happened, I wouldn't even bother to complain. We tipped our manicurists and went our way without saying anything. Unfortunately, my friend left her earmuffs at the store so the next weekend I went back to retrieve it. I asked the man at the counter for them (having called earlier to tell them I was coming), and he couldn't respond because he didn't speak English. No problem..until the woman in charge barked out "Just wait. I'm painting someone's nails right now, I'll get it when I'm done." Not the nicest, but hey, nothing to write home about. So I wait while speaking to a friend on the phone. By chance, I make eye contact with the woman and she FLIPS OUT, screams at me and says "JUST WAIT! CAN'T YOU SEE I'M BUSY?" The whole store is looking at us, and I'm thinking "what?!" I respond, "ok, I'm not rushing you, just let me know how long I should wait?" This woman starts screaming "WHY ARE YOU RUSHING ME, IF YOU WANT TO GET YOUR THINGS GO GET IT YOURSELF. IF YOU DON'T WANT TO COME BACK, DON'T. PLEASE GET YOUR THINGS AND GET OUT OF MY STORE AND DON'T COME BACK!" Can someone explain to me what the f*** happened?? I think I'll take Ms. Crazy's advice and never go back. read more

After reading the great reviews, I came here before going to work and asked if I could get a gel manicure done before 3 as I had to go to work. I live around the corner, and promised that otherwise I would come back the next day. They replied that this was no problem, and had me sit down. When the manager saw that there was shellac on my nails, she came to help take it off. Again, I asked if there would be enough time before 3. "of course" she said. lo and behold at 245 I had been there for 25 minutes and the manicure hadn't started, the lady had filed off half my nail, and now it is becoming increasingly clear to me that this won't get done in time. I asked for the 50th time if they would have time, and the manager now said no. Really... When I said that I had asked multiple times before, she said that she didn't know I had shellac on. Except that she was the one that helped take it off. So now I lost what was still an acceptable shellac manicure, my nails are about half the thickness from all the filing, and I ask how much this will cost (figured I'd just leave a nice tip. She charges me for a whole manicure. "But I didn't get my nails done" I said. No matter, apparently same price whether you get your nails done or not. So instead of putting nail polish ON, they took my nail polish OFF when I had a few reasonable days left from my last gel manicure. They filed the top of my nails down to the thickness of a piece of paper so that they are now peeling everywhere and full of ridges, and they didn't file or shape the actual nail. And for that they charged me for a manicure. Seriously?1? There are plenty of places in NY to get a good manicure. These ladies are so blatantly dishonest and unprofessional, and they destroyed my nails. Not a good experience for me. read more

I've found this place to be very fair and accommodating to its customers. I was having a shellac manicure and the color mix didn't look right at all, the bottom color was bleeding through. The owner took one look and told the nail technician it looked awful and to take it off! (I did give a big tip!) and she did it again. On this same visit, I observed another customer, who had arrived late for her appointment, barking at the owner because then she had to wait and she was "in a rush". The owner, who I have to say was the picture of diplomacy, apologized for the wait but also reminded her that because she (the customer) was late, the technician waited as long as she could but then took another customer. I should also say this was an extremely busy Friday morning. So four stars for customer service and quality. read more

Great job, wonderful atmosphere, Manhattan prices. I had Amy, who did a fabulous job on both my pedicure and acrylic fill in. finding a place that is clean and does a meticulous job was nearing impossible when I stumbled upon this place. I made an appointment thankfully because I was surprised at how busy they were for a Tuesday at 4pm. Amy took the time to do a great massage, use the pumice stone, and apply polish in about 20 mins (I was in a rush). My only surprise was when i asked for the gel polish and she told me it cost more, which I was ok with, but when it came time to pay she mentioned it cost $38 dollars more (!) on top of the $34 for the fill. That's the only part I wish had been handled better, but live and learn. Regardless, I'll be back. :) read more

I popped in to Cindy's on a very rainy Friday evening before meeting some people for dinner in the UWS. I was very impressed. The place is friendly, bright, clean, and has lots of pedicure chairs and mani stations so i didn't have to wait at all even though it was pretty busy. The nail technician I had (Emily) was very nice and did a quick but precise job on my fingers and toes. I was super happy with the results. Three days later unfortunately my mani is already chipping, but that may partially be because I chose one of the very opaque colors for my fingernails that tend to chip more anyway. The reason I am MOST impressed with this place is because of the actions of the women who I assume was the owner of the shop. When I went to leave feelin' fine with my cute mani and pedi i went to get my umbrella out of the bucket at the door and someone had stolen my umbrella!! and it was POURING out and i had a ways to walk outside. The owner offered me her own (very nice!) umbrella so i wouldnt have to get drenched. I told her no, but she insisted. Sometimes people just restore your faith in people and that simple gesture for a patron meant a lot. This place is a mani/pedi shop with a heart! highly recommended :) read more

Cindy is very sweet and helpful as well, she helped me choose a nail color for a tricky bridesmaids dress I had to wear this past summer. I arrived at 9:30 am on 8\01\2018 and they were late. I should have taken this as a bad omen to leave. I requested a Mani/Pedi and was quickly escorted to a seat but was never asked which one I wanted. The Pedicurist literally just washed my feet and wanted to charge me $5 extra for the coloring. It was very disappointing, I cancelled the Manicured and was charged $29 just to have my feet washed. The owner did nothing and did not care. I pay whatever $$$$ for good service but at Cindy's on 84th street it's not worth it. Go somewhere else and I am sure other places will treat you better. read more

Cindy's is a cozy, neighborhood spot and the new store provides clients with all the ammenities they could want. It's run by a wonderful woman who takes the time to get to know her clients. Most importantly to me is that everything in the store is extremely clean and all the tools are properly sanitized. I've consistently had top-notch experiences when going to Cindy's. Not only did my manicures and pedicures look great, but they also lasted for a while. The manicurists were very gentle and my nails looked great! This was my second visit to Cindy's and while I was happy the first time around this visit was probably my last one. I got a basic manicure and the cuticle treatment hurt - perhaps because the technician was barely looking at my hands while using sharp objects on me? The colour then was applied irregularly - you could see on almost every nail where the second coating was incomplete. I also have my doubts about the sterility of the instruments. I went to Cindy's for my wedding nails off of a recommendation. The end result was good, but my technician's attitude was terrible. During my gel pedi, she didn't massage my legs and put me in a broken chair. During my mani, she was very gruff and when I accidentally pulled my hand out of the dryer, she gave me serious attitude. Again, day before my wedding. Completely rude and set me in a very bad mood for what was supposed to be a nice pampering. I will not be returning. read more

I have been looking for a great nail salon with lots of OPI gel color choices on the upper west side for a long time and this place is it! I called ahead of time to see if they had the two colors I was interested in (black cherry chutney or Lincoln Park after dark) and not only did they have both, but they had a huge selection of other similar colors. My nails look fantastic-the attention to detail was wonderful and the salon is clean and cozy. It's also very reasonably priced. So happy that this will be my new spot! read more

terrible, never coming back. treatments i got: full arm wax, mani/pedi. i got a full arm wax and it hurt a lot. this coming from someone who has gotten maybe 30 full arm waxes in the past. they ripped my skin off with the wax due to poor pulling technique. never getting a wax here again. would rather pay $20 extra and keep a layer of skin. she rubbed my arms down with oil to get the excess wax off at the end...i noticed a bottle of aloe on the counter which she didn't even offer me despite ripping my skin off. i had to ask for it. after which she applied it willingly but it just seemed weird to me she didn't offer it up front. no wonder the bottle was full. the pedi looks like something i could have done. she rushed thru the nail polish application so it's all lumpy in some areas and looks weird up against my cuticles. it literally looks like what a child would accomplish in art class. the foot bath tub was not cleaned before i sat down so the technician cleaned it while i held my feet up in the air. her cleaning job involved a small squirt of blue liquid and a casual scrub with a toilet bowl cleaner. all of which took 10 seconds max. i definitely felt disgusted as i lowered my feet into the tub. needless to say i kept my feet submerged but not touching the bottom of the tub. the mani was bad. she sliced my pinky when filing my nail. yes. when FILING. how do you slice someone's finger open with a file? she also didn't clean up the skin beside my nails. i noticed other technicians doing it for their customers and i know all other nail places ive been to do it, so i asked whether she could do it and she said "sure." as if it's not included or something. luckily the polish application to my fingers was better than my hands. i was def going to give zero tip if the hand polish was botched like my toenails given the hands are most visible. read more

Surprise this place even has ANY stars. So I went there with 2 of my friends and asked if we could sit together, the lady at check in looked at us like we were so annoying for asking that question... she didn't really answer but told us to pick our color, we did. Then after we choose, she starts pushing (no joke) towards the pedicure chairs, I was so confused, I asked again whether sitting together was a possibility and she said "what do you think im doing?" ahhh... geez, ok. Sorry I asked ,but I never got an answer. So they sit me first and then my 2 friends a minute later. 4 minutes go by and I was DONE with my pedicure, no scrub nothing!! So they sit me to dry and I was just SO surprised, I get pedicures every month at Pinky's and I have never see them work so fast and just trying to get rid of me. So, about 10-15 mins go by and my friends are still getting their pedicures (their lady's were doing a great job). I asked to talk to the manager to see why this lady didn't even bother to scrub my feet and was done so fast, with a mediocre pedicure. The manager (same lady who pushed me to my seat) starts yelling at me "WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO?" What? What?.. People around me where getting really uncomfortable. I gave her some answers, but she wouldn't stop yelling. I finally said that this was getting to stressful. She sends me the bill, it's $23 for a 4 minute pedicure. I am seriously SO upset to pay them. The girl who is getting her nail dried next to me was apologizing for the manager (yeah, that bad.) SO then, it gets better, this one other lady comes out and I hear they call her Cindy, so I m thinking yay! that's Cindy the owner. She was in fact. She listen to me and made me point at the manager. She goes to the manager and doesnt tell her anything?and completely ignores me... She literally did NOTHNG... This place sucks. Im sorry, but I really rather pay $2 more for a pedicure and go somewhere else. NOT worth it, not if you aren't ready to have a stressful mani pedi session. read more
