It's sad to read all these reviews that talk about bad service in this place. But unfortunately it's a problem most of the time. The best girl works there on weekend but during the week you basically have to turn off your sensitive side. Having said that, the food is good. I don't care so much for their cakes but bagels, tuna sandwich, savory scones (only on weekends), lattes and caramel porter on draft (!!!) are really delicious :) and I do like the interior of the place. read more

I was hesitating how many stars to rate, but chose 3, because despite their delicious cake, it's is important for me if I'm spending $7 for a small slice of cake to get a good vibe from people who work there. Their cakes are amazing, especially the chocolate cake, but if I go in and there is a lady, I believe she is a manager, I always get an unpleasant experience shopping. The regular staff is great and friendly, but when she works there I just want to step out and come back when she is not there. She is not friendly, and gives me a vibe like she hates her job and that place and not happy when customers come in to buy something. I do not know what she is going through but it is very unprofessional to make your customers feel that are not welcomed. I noticed she also whispers something to her staff like scolding them, that they should recommended the certain cakes to customers instead of giving their own opinion. Delicious little pastries, and good coffee. The cardamom plum scone is amazing, and the vegan options are good to have.

This is our new favorite spot for snacks and sweets. Im in love with the cakes and the apple goat cheese rosemary scone. The lox sandwiches are really good at the price of $6 and you have to get there early because they always run out. The workers behind the counter are always nice. I just wish they had a phone number listed so I can call them ahead of time to see if they are open. read more

The rudest 6 people in all five boroughs are working here, and the coffee is boring. The manager's misery is filtering down to the employees and they don't care who knows it. Like all the previous reviewers, I have given this establishment 3 chances and each single time, the person behind the counter was EXTREMELY RUDE. In particular the old lady. She has 0 customer service experience and clearly does not know how to run a neighborhood business. I am not sure what her problem is but if you do not like people, DO NOT HAVE A BUSINESS. The service is SO rude I can't morally allow myself to come here anymore. I've witnessed employees ignoring customers, snapping at people, standing with their back to the door, and personally when I've thanked them they turn around and walk away, not even a grunt. They've literally been outright mean and it brings your whole day down. These are multiple employees too, not just one bad egg. I am not sure what is going on the management of this chain, but if they treat their employees this way I can't imagine the quality of your ingredients will be much better. read more

This is not a restaurant, but a quick breakfast/ lunch spot that has vegan and gluten-free options. It is small and they obviously want to discourage anyone from staying because they simply have two tall tables that have practically no surface area and no seating.However, it was adequate for our purposes. As stated in many other reviews I've seen, the atmosphere is far from friendly. I purchased a quiche Lorraine which the young lady at the counter did not offer to heat ( it's a quiche, hello). No fork offered, either, but maybe they were self-service and I didn't see that. I tried to eat it and it wasn't that great so I asked her to heat it. Wow, it then became DELICIOUS. Coffee was good too. My daughter had a toasted bagel ( she asked the young woman to toast it) with vegan cream cheese that was excellent, and I have never liked vegan cream cheese. It was a veggie cream cheese, which was not mentioned, so we were a little confused at first, but it was really good and a generous size. They sell gourmet coffees, imported beers, and other items for carry out, as well as fresh bakery, and there is a small deli. I would go back. But I honestly don't like the frosty attitude. The woman wasn't mean or rude, but obviously either not trained in giving good customer service or didn't like her job. Would definitely have given four or five stars for polite, helpful service and a quiche that was edible from the beginning. read more

There was an older woman working behind the counter and you could tell from body language and fake smiles that she was not too pleased with us being in her shop. I've been here twice, once waited on by an older woman - I walked out because of her attitude- and then by a younger Indian looking girl, I thought different person, different atttitude. Cute place. Nice servers. Coffee was good, and the vegetarian and g-f options were also good. Suggestions: 1. Add a window bench or a couple of stools (although I'm surmising you have the small standing tables to discourage people from overstaying); 2. Provide your staff with a list of ingredients for all of your baked/cooked products, including things that might seem harmless, like types of oil, garlic, and spices. You'd be surprised how many folks who have one type of food sensitivity also have others. read more

I've gotten a ton of delicious vegan cakes from here - I've ordered custom cakes as well as picked up random treats and have never had any problems. Only issue is that they don't have a phone which is quite inconvenient if you don't have time to make it to their store and want to put in an order. All in all - I'm a fan! read more

I have given this place a few tries. Their baked goods are really tasty. However, after today I won't be returning. I ordered a gluten free popover to go and when I got home it was a small gluten bran muffin. I held off on trying out Cinnamon Girl for a long time because of the terrible reputation it has in the neighborhood for horrible customer service. But I like to support local businesses and was passing by, so I decided to stop in. Fairly disappointing experience. Such a bummer, because the space is really cute and they have a lot of vegan and gluten free options. They also have a decent beer and cider selection. However, many of the overpriced grocery items were well past their expiration date. The staff member working behind the counter was friendly enough. But when she handed me my extremely hot coffee, she informed me that there were no coffee sleeves. So, I asked for a second cup to keep from burning my hand. She said that she would give me one for free (like she was doing me a huge favor), but I should know that "others might not be so nice". She explained that it's company policy to charge $.25 for an extra cup. This was after I had already paid and I didn't have any spare change. Excuse me?! You don't have sleeves like every other coffee shop on planet Earth and I just spent almost $40 in your store. Surely you can spare an extra cup so your customer doesn't burn their hand drinking the expensive coffee drink they just purchased. Most coffee shops will even proactively offer a second cup if they are out of sleeves. This business clearly doesn't care about about their customers or building a repeat clientele. Left a really bad taste in my mouth. Don't think I'll be going back. read more

This place is awesome! I'm not vegan ,but I prefer the vegan muffins to their regular ones- they are lighter and have better flavors. Super friendly staff too. And I love that they take credit cards! So nice to have a cute cafe right by our home! read more
