The Seam was atrociously bad and came apart at the wedding. Some spots didn't even have stitching. When I arrived to pick it up I noticed something at the bottom of my bridesmaid dress. Tabitha said there was a hole in the dress so she covered it with a "flower" (without checking with me). I believe the material got caught in her machine and created the hole. It was not there when I brought it to her. I now have to wear this dress to the wedding next week. I reached out to her about it and she offered to cover it with rhinestones instead. The flower cannot be removed without creating something even more unsightly. I'm very upset about this new addition to my dress and I'm grateful it's not something from my personal closet. read more

I was there because I needed to get my measurements for a costume robe I am ordering. My experience there was short but very, very rewarding. I was helped by Mr. Cipriano himself. Walking into his shop is like stepping into history. He works out of a ground floor shop in the historic Outpost Building. Impeccably dressed, he greets you with a warm smile. Old school craftsmanship is the first thing that comes to your mind when you see him. He is a Hollywood institution. We had a pleasant conversation. This guy has a great reputation, and I was fine with paying a little extra for someone who does quality work. They thing about tailoring though is that there is a ton of competition, and in addition to quality of product, one needs quality of service. I took my pants in a while back after getting a nasty split in the crotch (don't ask), and he fixed them up nicely. He forgot to put a new button on the other slacks I brought in though. Okay...he's getting on in years...he forgets things. No biggie. The problem is I went back today just needing a button to be fixed on my jacket, reading on Yelp that he's open on Sundays until 5 PM. Great...except that there was nobody there. The open sign was in the window, but the lights were off. Nobody answered the call at the lobby security gate. Okay...so, I went down to Tailoring by Alex on Wilcox and Hollywood Blvd. This place was listed as open until 8, and there were two people inside. Within 2 minutes and $3, my button was fixed. So...sorry, Cipriano. I have a new tailor now. I need a place that is open when it says it is. read more

These guys are the absolute greatest people! So talented and so nice. I had an alteration done at my local tailor and wore those pants to work today and lo and behold my seam along the left pant leg split and opened up. Needless to say I needed to deal with this as quickly as possible and I googled "tailor near me" which turned up the Cipriano result as #1. I know why they're #1! Mr. Cipriano is 96 years old and a master of his craft! I was in and out in under 15 minutes and my pants are as good as new if not BETTER! It's a family business and his Granddaughter, Tabitha, is the nicest and most welcoming host. They both took great care of me and I can't thank them enough. To say this tailor is amazing is an understatement! Cipriano is the epitome of what a Hollywood Tailor should be. He's literally been working his craft on Hollywood Blvd since the 50's. I've actually been getting alterations and custom tailored clothing made by Cipriano since I was a kid. Including 2 custom suits that members of the rat pack would be jealous of. One time, he even replaced a zipper on a 22" round bass drum case I had. I mean who does that? He's been able to recreate clothing just based off a photo. These guys do great great work... for much less then their competitors. I had some ripped jeans redone at bubbles laundry... the patches lasted about 2 weeks.. and I paid 30$. I was pissed. So I went to cipriano.. and for $15 they redid them correctly.. still going strong over a month later. This is the only place I'm going to from now on. The woman who does the work is also very sweet and accommodating.. these guys are a prime example of a great local business. *adding an update: the best hidden gem ive found here in la, hands down. theyve apprently been around since the nineteen-fiftees, one of the few businesses out of the many not ripping people off. They tailored a suit for me and all night long at my gala people said, "we idolize you in that suit", "you are on point and gorgeous in that suit""we want to be like you in that suit". They completely ruined everything I brought here! The dress they altered was cut too short and given a crooked hem, they used navy thread on a black dress, and they messed up the straps. The top was originally lined and they cut the lining and just did some straight seams I could've done at home and also made it too small so it pulled at the chest. They "fixed" it so the lining was in tact but left holes and it was still too small. I asked for a refund and they said the money was already spent on tailoring. What tailoring?! You destroyed everything I gave you and I now have to reorder it all and go somewhere else! You're telling me you have no money from other clients that you can refund me for this shoddy work?! Unbelievable to run a business this way. No wonder they only take cash. read more

He's a good guy who does great work. His specialty is suits however he's helped me alter jeans before with excellent results. I've tried and been burned by other tailors in the area (some with more ratings on yelp) but not here. Here you deal directly with a master tailor and a caring human being. This is an old school nice guy! Love this place! He's def not cheap, but you will get some quality service. I used to pay about $70 to get a suit tailored somewhere in the valley, but he is around $100. However, when you get the suit back you sorta see why he's a little more expensive. A great tailor! My previous tailor on HIllhurst is gone... Until now, I've had trouble finding one comparable. A real nice guy, not pushy, easy going, and of course talented. He took a shirt of mine that was 2 sizes too big and magically made it perfect. The place is a little dusty, and the neighborhood is a little eclectic, but well, well worth it. In the days of anonymity in service, where you're a just an order number and the only interest is in your pocketbook, the nice folks at Cipriano greet you with a friendly smile and remember your name. It's a small family run shop tucked away in the heart of Hollywood and as such they truly care about you and your satisfaction with the workmanship (which in my experience is excellent). I've been bringing items to be tailored here for years and have nothing but positive things to say about them. The shop often closes for lunch and occasionally has had an unavoidable situation that may delay opening on time (Cipriano is 93 years old, you gotta give the guy a break) so it's a good idea to call ahead before arrival, but the quality and service can't be beat! read more

Cipriano Leos (pronouned Leh-ohs) is my tailor in Hollywood, and I am so grateful to have discovered him thanks to Google/Yelp searches. His name is Cipriano, but he's actually Mexican from Texas, and not Italian as I had assumed. I hear many make that mistake, but when I heard him speaking Spanish, I knew. And he is just great, I love him and his assistant. He tailored a beautiful blue suit I have and several vintage button down shirts and some trousers. He is just fine tuning my wardrobe like nobody's business! The two beautiful blue vintage shirts that I had were either billowy-big or boxy, and I prized them, but didn't consider them amongst my best vintage shirts that I would wear when I wanted to look my best. But after I took them to Cipriano's, they gave them form and shape and a most proper fit, that it's like having two more pieces in my wardrobe that I can wear proudly and stylishly. I've got several more pieces to take them, but a gentleman's wardrobe takes time to put together and time to fine tune. You pay a little more in your clothes-budget, but It's definitely worth it. A good wardrobe, when well taken care of, can last a life time. A side note, he's in a really cool old building called the Outpost Building that's been on Hollywood Blvd since, like, 1927. Cipriano has been Hollywood tailor some sixty years, and he depth of his understanding and craftsmanship reflects the experience. I brought him a jacket cut by the tailor who made the Bogart's "Casablanca" tuxedo -- he explained how the jacket was unique, a seamless back that had been hand-shaped on a bust model by the tailor's iron -- a painstaking technique that is no longer in use. He's given half a dozen jackets of mine the 1930's and 40's bell shape that I like, and done minor repairs on an equal number of things. He does hand work on button eyelets -- work that is always machined by others -- that has to be seen to be believed. This man is the reason you go to a tailor - not an "alterations specialist." He's good at what he does. Really really good. read more
