Had an overwhelmingly positive experience with TruTailor to put together a custom suit for my wedding this past July. My wife actually discovered them on Instagram and sent me their page, so I decided to make a consultation appointment about four months out after looking through their feed and liking what I saw. I met with Josh at the downtown LA location, and he took the time to go over every conceivable customizable option for the green suit that I had always envisioned wearing for the big day. We decided on the right fabric, jacket lining, lapel shape, pocket size, button material and quantity, individual stitching, and so much more. After measurements and payment (right within my budget, which they are very transparent about from the start, and mindful of during the process) I was right back on the road heading home, with the whole process taking only an hour. Josh had said it would be about six weeks to get the garment back for an initial fitting, and that's exactly when I was heading back up to LA to try it on. Only a few small alterations were needed, as to be expected, and two weeks later it was ready for me to give it another fitting, which ended up being perfect and I walked out of their office suit in hand. It couldn't have been a smoother experience. Their flexibility and communicativeness made scheduling and getting updates a breeze, and Josh is super chill, extremely friendly, and extraordinarily thorough. My suit was a huge hit at our wedding, and I am very much looking forward to working with Josh and TruTailor again when I plan on getting another custom garment. These guys are legit. I brought my Father in-law and my Brother in-law to TruTailor in December 2019 to get bespoke suits for my wedding in October 2020. The pre-pandemic fitting happened in the LA location. We met with Josh in this unassuming space which quickly transformed into a celebration of fine menswear. We shared bourbon as Josh meticulously walked us through all the options and details for our suits. Josh stayed within our budget while providing feedback and suggestions when requested. He was never too pushy nor did he allow us to make bad choices. Several months later we came back for our second fitting. Two of the three suits fit near perfect already, but Josh took them back for alterations. Finally as we approached the day we met Josh one last time for our final fitting. My suit still needed adjustments as I'm not the easiest person to fit. Josh and the team made the final adjustments on time and even offered to deliver them for me if we couldn't make it. The TruTailor team is the best value I've seen in a bespoke suit in LA County. In a world of "you get what you paid for", these guys went above and beyond to give far more value than the price we paid. I'd recommend them to anyone. read more

This was my first experience with a custom tailor, and prior to my visit, it was a little intimidating. You don't know how skilled the tailors are or have any idea how the garment will turn out until you have committed to a suit. The consultants are very patient in answering all of your questions and they really helped me ease into the decision. My boyfriend needed a suit for work, but he needed it within 1 month to attend a wedding. Their estimated turnaround time was a bit tight for the wedding, but they finished faster than expected. We are very happy with the result. One of the benefits of a custom suit is you can order extra pants to be cut from the same fabric. Pants tend to wear faster than jackets, so pick up another pair while you're at it. You won't be disappointed. read more

Then I find Trutailor, which not only is very reasonable but also has a great mission in donating a percentage to charity. Getting the initial consult and fitting appointment was easy through their website and Josh was very responsive and informative via email. Once there, he took the time to explain every part and detail of a suit with helpful suggestions for style. Another thing that stood out was his patience while I pored through the fabric swatches with my fiancee to find the right color, material, and weave. He made me feel comfortable and at ease, including when taking measurements. About 6-8 weeks later, as promised, my suit was ready, and it fit to a T, with no need for alterations. I e never looked sharper in my life, and it's thanks to Trutailor. Josh offered free alterations if necessary in the Rubio to the big day, so that's even less to worry about. Disappointed in my consultation, not going back. I made an appointment in Feb 2023 to get a custom linen suit. Their culver city space is a small office inside a corporate building. My 30 min appointment was a waste of time. The office was barren - just a single suit (!) on display. They did not have the linen swatch books that I requested for the appointment. Their ipad wasn't working to show us the suit options. The rep didn't have an ETA of when the linen swatches would become available, or really any story of why things were so jumbled except that they were going through an office move. We came all the way to culver city just to get a "sorry, I don't have what you're looking for" Totally unprepared for our visit. If you are going to accept a customer's appointment, you should be prepared. 2 stars because the salesperson kindly went out of his way to pay the $4 for our parking (since validation thru the front desk is only on weekdays) read more

I had a disappointing experience with Josh. I had a meeting with him in which I was supposed to get my measurements and was prepared to place an order for a wedding tuxedo.  I drove 30 miles in the rain (heavy rain and inclement weather over the past couple of days) to make it to my appointment. I waited for Josh in the lobby for 20 minutes, so I decided to call him. Josh answered and admitted that he had just woken up and could not make the meeting. I asked if he could make it that morning as I was willing to wait for him. He did not offer to show up and instead suggested I call him back to reschedule.  This was my second meeting with Josh (the first meeting was a couple of months earlier in the DTLA location). He rescheduled my first meeting with him the same morning only a couple of hours before the meeting time. Today's events were not an isolated incident. Josh is unreliable and undependable. For this reason, I will not be purchasing a tuxedo with TruTailor and will recommend that others do the same. read more

I had an amazing experience with TruTailor. From the start, everything was professional and seamless (excuse the pun). I had the pleasure of dealing with Joseph, who was very professional and communicative throughout the whole process. I bought two custom made suits, and Joseph made the experience extra special, as he makes you feel special, rather than just another customer. Joseph is personable, highly skilled and just a real genuine guy. Throughout the process we kept in frequent contact, via text and email. From the initial consultation, he helped me choose the fabrics, buttons, linings etc, and then with the fittings, he was meticulous and precise with his measurements and attention to detail. I believe most suits take around 7-8 weeks. I had two suits and I'm very picky with the finer details. This meant the process took a little longer, but I was ok with that, and Joseph always said he wants me to be 100% before I take the suits away, so no matter how many fittings I needed, he would make sure that all the boxes were ticked. I really appreciated this. When I got my suits, I was over the moon with the quality of the materials and workmanship. We spoke about everything I was looking for and made an appointment at the Irvine location for an initial fitting. The facility is very nice and clean and immediately felt welcomed by Josh. He was very pleasant and extremely knowledgeable making my overall experience of choosing fabrics and suit options amazing. Once my suit was ready, I worked with David and his assistant. Both were very friendly and welcoming! I tried on my suit and it looked absolutely fantastic. A couple of minor adjustments and the end result was perfection. Disappointing experience. I called and got set up to have a summer suit made for my sister's wedding. Met with Josh and went through all the sizing and options. I liked that they had a good variety of materials and colors to choose from. They told me typical timeline was 6-7 weeks, but they said they could possibly get it in 5, which I would need for the wedding. I opted not to get it expedited since I didn't really need it that badly. Everything up to this point was fine, but then the issues came up. They did have my suit made in 5 weeks, but when I showed up for the fitting Josh mentioned the suit looked small. The jacket wasn't bad, but the pants were so small I couldn't even put them on. Josh took note of some things to fix and told me they would get taken care of. Next time I came in everything fit a lot better, but there were still some minor adjustments to be made. Again, Josh took note and told me next time I could just come to pick up with the front desk instead of seeing him for an appointment. Came in about a week or so later and picked up my suit. When I tried it on at home, I realized an adjustment to my jacket wasn't made like we agreed on, so I had to make yet another appointment with Josh to get it taken care of. Josh offered to drop the suit off at my office which I appreciated, but when he arrived I was on a call and he left before I realized he was here. He said he tried to call me but I didn't see any missed calls, just texts saying he couldn't stay any longer. So I did have to go to their office one last time (now my 6th visit), but I will give him the benefit of the doubt on the last one. Fortunately, that was the last time. I did end up liking my suit and they did compensate for my inconveniences by giving me a discount on it so I will give them two stars for that, but in the end the miscommunication between their team multiple times and how long the whole process took was not really acceptable. I needed a classic tuxedo for a wedding and my experience with Tru Tailor Co was amazing! Josh assisted me in the Downtown Los Angeles office. For the first meeting, we went through all the different material for the suit, inner lining of the suit, and shirts. They have a variety of material and colors to choose from at different price points. After choosing the material, color, and lining for the suit and shirt, Josh went into great detail on the small specifics of each item such as the type of waist I wanted for my pants and the type of buttons for my shirt. He also offered complimentary embroidery on the suit jacket which I thought was a very cool detail. The shirt and suit was completed for the initial fitting in the time frame in which they said it would be done. I've had a few suits from Nordstroms and other places that I had tailored that were nice but I wanted something better. David and his team are very friendly and inviting. They were professional and helped me picked something that was my style.
