We've been enjoying Cipriano's since they first opened in July of 2022 and haven't had a bad meal yet. The food is absolutely delicious...the service is friendly, warm and efficient...the ambiance is charming. Did I mention the food? The cioppino is the best we've ever had and our guests we bring agree with our assessment. The salads are so fresh and unique and the pasta is homemade and melt in your mouth delicious. All I can say is absolutely one of the best meals I ever had in my life, and my wife seconds that. Kale salad was superb(I'm not a Kale or salad person...but delicious!). Wife had octopus and shaved truffle and I had squid ink pasta with seafood. Both were exceptional. Seafood was cooked perfectly, best octopus I've ever eaten by far. This is hands down my favorite food experience on the island. It's a family owned restaurant and they make you feel that way from the moment you walk in. We loved sitting on the charming deck area, it was the perfect ambience for the wonderful meal we had. When we were visiting we had the pleasure of being helped by Thiago. He was so friendly and warm and gave excellent recommendations. He joked with our 4 year old daughter and made her laugh. It was a pleasure getting to know him. The food is beyond incredible. We came 2 mornings in a row and both mornings enjoyed the breakfast bruschetta with truffles. It was the best version of eggs I've ever had. The focaccia that came with it was crispy and fluffy. We also had the carbonara pasta which was out of this world. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about eating pasta at 8am but I could eat it every day. Fresh pasta and the perfect sauce and of course, truffles. My daughter loved the blueberry muffin and the coconut lemonade. Everything is fresh and so expertly made. I've traveled all around the island and have tried many of the restaurants but this is by far my favorite restaurant on the island. The owner takes the time to talk with everyone and even remembers little details (like the name of our dog). We will look forward to visiting this restaurant each time we visit the Big Island. read more

AMAZING! we came across Cipriano's by accident and are truly glad that we did. the best lunch we've had on the Island. I really wanted to like this place but despite the delicious food there were a few elements that just did not measure up to the eye-popping prices at dinner time. First of all there's zero ambiance. The seating is on the tacky little porch over looking the massive fuel tanks at the dockyard across the street. There's air-conditioning indoors but apparently there's no seating for diners though there's plenty of space. Secondly, the owner Claudia is very pushy and spends a lot of time talking very loudly to the regulars. The acoustics are terrible on that little porch so it's not helpful to have the owner hovering about and being so loud. She's also very aggressive in trying to get you to order more than you want to eat or drink. Doesn't seem right to be pushing alcohol on people when they have to drive home. And lastly, a little thing, but for the prices paid it was surprising that silverware is not replaced between courses. You're expected to reuse the utensils. So in the final analysis it's just not worth the extremely high-even-for-Hawaii prices. And what's with the $79 corkage fee - just weird. read more

Cipriano's is off the beaten path but well worth the trip. The ambience is island casual. The menu has a unique take on everyday dishes with fantastic results. We had breakfast on our first trip and had to return for lunch. Both Claudia and Gino made us feel welcome. Claudia explained the dishes and Gino identified some of the unusual ingredients. Claudia was a fabulous hostess. She greeted us, seated us and even joined us at the table with wonderful recommendations and details of the specials and off menu delights. The experience was superior to the standard hotel restaurants at the nearby resorts. All of the food was fresh and delicious. If you want octopus, this is the best place ever. It was prepared right! We also had fresh same day catch ceviche, the most wonderful Baratta, with fresh focaccia bread, shrimp with squid ink pasta. the gnocchi was amazing ("melt in your mouth pillows of heavenliness" according to my wonderful wife) This is a must try spot for a late lunch before a nice nap on the beach and light dinner. My girlfriend and I had an absolutely fabulous brunch here. We started with coffee. I had an espresso and she a salted caramel latte. I thought they pulled a good shot that wasn't overly extracted or sour. Then, we shared an order of the breakfast bruschetta and ravioli. We added lobster to the bruschetta and it was heavenly! The lobster was buttery and sweet and made for the perfect bite when mounded on the creamy scrambled eggs of the bruschetta. We also added grilled tako to the ravioli which was delicious. The pasta for the ravioli was a red red wine pasta that had been made that morning. I thought it made for a striking presentation and a subtle flavor that paired well with the filling. The tako was cooked to perfection. It was succulent and moist with just a whisper of smokiness from the grill. Definitely not something I would have thought to add to the ravioli but I'm glad I did. The service was impeccable. This is a small family run restaurant. We were waited on by one of the owners and we're quickly made to feel like old friends. read more

We stumbled onto Cipriano's returning to our hotel from the Macadamia Nut Factory. We found it using Yelp and because the reviews were great we stopped in for lunch. We lucked out because several folks with reservations had cancelled due to a truck over turning. It was 30 minutes and there were few options. We ordered the special which was one of the best lobster raviolis I have had. I added the Octopus topper because one person at the table next to us ordered it and said it was amazing! The same table, for 8, which had wiped out all the focaccia and other options, offered us a slice and the focaccia was amazing! The wine recommended was outstanding, too! Ordinarily we would not have order a bottle so early, but since we were stuck there, we got it and it was great! The breakfast is supposed to be great, too, but we had breakfast included at Mauna Kea... We recommend highly and plan to return our next visit to the Big Island! The only downside is the ambiance, but it is fine for lunch, albeit a bit pricey... The view of the fuel silos is not inspiring but the service was stellar, the other clientele friendly, and the chef outstanding! read more

While staying at the Fairmont Orchid a local friend recommended this nice little place up the road about 10 minutes by car for breakfast . Who knew a little place serving Italian and Peruvian food run by a very nice couple could put us such an exceptional breakfast menu. A fabulous experience by any and all measures. Amazing Italian and Peruvian interpretation of breakfast dishes. Highly highly recommend. The ambiance is bright, airy and very comfortable. The prices are quite reasonable for this exceptional food. We went on a Wednesday morning at 8 am when they first opened. Superb coffee and hot chocolate were the first pleasant surprise. I was blown away with the hot chocolate that had small chunks of chocolate in it. Breakfast wraps, perfectly cooked eggs and a totally amazing "Fugazza Carbonara ", and a" Bruchetta" were as good as anywhere in the world where we have had breakfast !! Service was superb. Claudia Cipriano who is from Lima Peru runs the front. Take her suggestions if you have questions. If you ask you will find out she is a graduate of the Cordon Bleu culinary school in Lima. Her husband Gino is from Italy and a fabulous chef. Not sure who makes their bread but amazing crust and taste. Their Focaccia bread, since we asked,takes more than 90 hours to make! Their pasta is made without eggs so perfect for vegans, those allergic and anyone who loves some of the best past in the world. We were totally amazed and look forward to having breakfast and lunch ( not open for dinner) their several times on our next visit to Waimea. Really deserves 10 stars. We were driving in the area and stopped in for breakfast. The avocado toast and the bruschetta breakfast meals were so delicious and fresh. All homemade meals with fresh ingredients, not the pre-made food you find at the resorts. The vibe is low key and the host/owner were very inviting. She shared with us how fresh the ingredients were down to the bread taking 72 hours to make and was always served fresh. They even rubbed fresh floral herbs on the steps so it smells like a spa. We're coming back here again before we leave. Worth the stop. read more

Restaurant was not in a good location and got seated outside near by roadside. Ordered a Caesar salad and owner recommended to add white summer truffle mushrooms. The truffles looked like they were order online in a preserved jar and not fresh at all (6 tiny thin slices) and had no taste. Ordered the lobster ravioli (3 pieces) which tasted like canned crab meat. Ordered white fish and octopus (6 thin tiny pieces) ceviche. Nice presentation but more like white fish with octopus bits in lime juice. read more
