We had a GREAT experience at Circa at Navy Yard. Not only were the food and drinks on target but service was impeccable...from front of the house to table service. Our server, Rene, could not have been nicer and more attentive and accommodating. He didn't balk at my vegan requests! Granted there are not many vegan options but you can certainly customize what's on the menu to suit your needs. I started with Brussels sprouts without bacon and cheese. They were delicious and served with an aged balsamic...yum!! My family had the calamari which was honestly in the blink of an eye. My entree was a veggie and quinoa bowl without goat cheese and it was arranged with everything I live: avocado, kale, onion, beets and a delicious hummus. My family had steak frites, flatbread and cheesy pasta. The table was silent as we all were so into our meal! Drinks are great too especially the one called "so fresh so clean" as it lived up to its name. I had a delicious prosecco to accompany my meal. I suggest the9oz pour if you enjoy prosecco. We celebrated my daughter's birthday here and were comped her dessert. The staff even signed a beautiful card for her special day! I truly appreciate the service her at Circa and will certainly visit again when we stop by DC in the future! Stopped in Circa for dinner tonight. The staff was incredible, in particular Chandler, the bar tender. She never stopped hustling the entire evening yet was engaging and conversational. I followed all her recommendations for my "dinner plan" and nothing disappointed... the soup of the day, jambalaya, and bread pudding. All excellent! This restaurant is located in the Navy Yard very close to our hotel. We were greeted promptly and our waiter was very attentive. We wanted a nice salad and this place fit the bill. We ordered the Blackened Chicken Mango Salad and the Thai Shrimp Salad. Both were delicious and the perfect amount of dressing bursting with flavor. The foggy bottom cocktail was very refreshing, I have to try to make this at home. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 was the added 4.5% service fee. The staff is attentive and provide insights on the menu. The happy hour is only in the bar and high top table area. Had dinner here with some friends and we all ordered different cuts. I chose the New York strip and was happy with the bold flavor and beautiful char on the outside. The inside was pink just how I like it and the portion was generous. We also shared some sides like creamed spinach and truffle fries and they were all delicious. Came here for a special night out and the steak didn't disappoint. I got the NY strip and it was rich, flavorful, and perfectly medium. The crust had that beautiful crisp edge and the inside was pink and juicy. Our server was amazing and even brought us a free dessert for our celebration. Cost: a little pricey for smaller portion sizes but expected in Navy Yard. That coupled with the parking lot fees or taking your chance at a meter made for a stressful night. I paid $30 to park and another $115 dollars for my daughter and I. Again I only had wings and a delicious drink. It was nice to have a bottle of water table side so we could refill as and when we chose. I opted for the steak frites, cooked to medium. My beef was probably closer to well done / medium well, but the chimichurri nicely balanced my slightly dry meat. The fries were quite excellent: well fried and properly seasoned. I would certainly order again in hopes the temperature on the beef could better match to my request. My friend got the fried chicken sandwich. He certainly seemed to enjoy his meal and the IPA he got to accompany it. Our server was available whenever we needed her without being obtrusive. I booked this restaurant for my girl group to celebrate a joint birthday celebration. The restaurant was easy to find and there are two parking garages near by which made parking an ease. Our waiter was very attentive and did a great job juggling 6 people, their drinks and two gluten free diets. He was very nice and the food service was quick! Everything was amazingly delicious. My friend and I split the scallops & seared ahi tuna and both were mouth watering. Unfortunately the drinks didn't really hit it off for me - the so fresh so green was overly sweet with the pineapple juice and the Paloma tasted like smoked ash due to the burnt grapefruit piece stuck in the drink. But the food made up for it. The only other thing to be aware of is that we stored a cake we brought in at the restaurant until after the meal. I called when I made the reservation and the day of to remind them of this bit... when the check came, they charged us $25 to store the cake! I was extremely frustrated because it wasn't told to me during either conversation... our waiter waived the fee, thankfully. But it's definitely something to be aware of. read more

We had an outstanding brunch at Circa. I'm really not a brunch person so this really exceeded my expectations. We asked for recommendations and we heard that the blackened chicken mango salad and the southern chicken Benedict were real winners. They were both delicious. My companion was impressed with the salad. I was devouring the Benedict with the runny egg, biscuit and sausage gravy. The salad had big chunks of chicken and mango. Service was great. The last time I was at CIRCA, an "unfortunate" issue occurred as me & my friends dined there. We haven't been there since the incident happened. Yesterday, my other set of friends invited me out for a late lunch at the restaurant. Thankfully, we dined out in the patio section, so there isn't much to comment on as far as ambiance goes. It was nice to people watch. The Food: My friends ordered the Baby Kale Salad, Almond Crusted Rainbow Trout & Wings, Barbecue Chicken Flatbread, respectively. They both seemed to love their appetizers and entrées. I ordered the Tuna Poke Nachos for my appetizer. They were really yummy, but I do wish it was more to it & to add avocado. The entree I ordered was the Wine Braised Short Rib. It's a fan favorite dish & I am always delighted to eat it. I typically replace the spinach with broccolini (as pictured). I add extra 'red wine jus' because it's so delicious to me. The drinks: I ordered the Purple Rain cocktail. It was really tasty, spice level to my liking, but it was a bit sweet. I wanted to order a red wine for my short rib, but my waiter seemed to have gotten busy at that point. My friend ordered the Blackberry cocktail ( I can't remember the name). He seemed to really like it & ordered two of them. CIRCA has a couple of locations in DC & VA, and it seems like people love each location. They offer brunch, lunch, happy hour & dinner. Per usual, parking can be difficult at both locations in DC, so it would be ideal to utilize public transportation, Uber/Lyft/cab or carpool. If by Navy Yard, avoid going on game days. read more

I've been wanting to try CIRCA for a while now and I'm so glad I did! The atmosphere was amazing. It's a low-key, intimate, yet chill vibe. The music selection is pretty current. It seemed like many people come in to have drinks and enjoy the bar. The drinks were tasty: the strawberry mojito was very refreshing! Now, let's get on to the food... The Braised Short Rib is to die for. The presentation of the meal was superior. The onion rings on top added a nice touch to the whole meal! The ambiance was cool...you could watch television, sit at the bar and enjoy your time, or opt to sit at the table. The service was great! My friends and I had an amazing experience at Circa!! The restaurant itself is super cute and the service is amazing. My friends and I went there for brunch, where they still offer non-brunch items if you are not interested in having the normal eggs - which is great! We got the huevos rancheros, fried chicken sandwich, wild mushroom flatbread and a side of home fries. The food was so delicious, literally no complaints. If you love sweet potato fries, the sandwich comes with them and they were delicious!! I've ordered food from here before for delivery, but just recently started coming in person for Happy Hour. The drinks are really good. The blackberry margarita (not pictured) is delicious. I also really enjoy their seasonal cocktails, but every drink I've had has been good. They subbed the pineapple for orange juice in my purple rain cocktail (pictured), and it had the perfect amount of sweet and spicy. For food, I also love the Brussels and blue (perfect crispness, nice amount of bacon, and the blue cheese melts perfectly into them), the pretzel loaf (so fluffy and the mustard butter it comes with is amazing), and their Flatbreads (I've tried the Margherita and the rustic Italian and both have been tasty). Additionally, their service is great. Max is very attentive and personable, but so are the other bartenders that I've encountered. Highly recommend overall! read more

We started off with the glasses of wine and I appreciated that the waiter was trying to be as helpful as possible in our selection. For the appetizers, we got the shotgun shrimp and tuna poke nachos, which were both delicious. For our entrees, we ordered the pumpkin ravioli and the scallops. We loved the scallops, however, I found that the pumpkin ravioli was quite bland and I couldn't even finish the leftovers I brought home. For dessert, we got both the apple pie and brioche bread pudding, which was a nice finish to the meal. Came here on a Saturday night ~6:30 and had a reservation but probably didn't need one as the restaurant seemed to have plenty of seats open. Ordered the bulgogi wraps and jambalaya. The bulgogi wraps were decent, had good flavors, but were a bit hard to eat as they were on lettuce leaves. I was pretty disappointed with the jambalaya. The sauce didn't really taste like anything, it was very mild in flavor. The penne past and protein seem to have just been thrown in with the sauce. There was just no depth of flavor. They were all delicious and I especially loved the Brussels sprouts! Nicely roasted and crisp! For dinner I had the steak frites which was cooked exactly as I requested and was served with veggies and mashed potatoes. I ate it too quickly and forgot to take a picture. I actually came here before going to Enchanted (happening at National's Park), it's super close - like 2 blocks away. Now let's get into the actual food and service. Service: 10/10 - I agree with everyone in their reviews saying service is amazing! They're super attentive. They visit your table frequently to make sure you're good. Food: For this time around, we stuck to the small plate section. The calamari were good in flavor and had olives and spicy peppers too. The only downside was they weren't super crunchy. The Mac and cheese was creamy and yummy. We finished the whole plate. The fall bruschetta was supper good too and fresh. I would definitely come here again! read more
