I've met a few Teds in my day, but this one topped them all. I traveled to DC for business and leisure purposes, and one night, my party of five decided to ring up Ted for a date in a booth. Ted's Bulletin Noma is a short walk from the hotel I rested my sad little head at, so two minutes after walking in, we were seated in the dark-lit, yet charming environment. Despite the nearby ceiling vent dripping condensation on the right shoulder of the highest-paid individual in our group, we enjoyed the deviled eggs app and refreshing tap water. I ordered the chicken and biscuits, and I must say, I'd sell my soul for those dead bird sandwiches. The server was young and energetic, but the service was slower than that of Suddenlink internet. I'll be back once I finally get a raise to afford the $3 sausage gravy add-on next time. read more

I sat at the bar and the bartender was friendly but busy restocking as it was towards the end of the day. I had the cheery old fashion as she promised it was one of their stronger drinks. I didn't find this to be true, it was actually overly sweet and tasted more like syrup. The second drink I picked was the bourbon bash. I thought this one would be sweet as it's made with different juices but it was actually on the stronger side. Definitely stronger and better than the Cherry old-fashioned. To snack on I went with the steak and cheese, eggrolls and bacon, blue cheese brussels sprouts. The egg rolls were great. Lots of flavor and the texture was spot on. The brussels sprouts were good for the most part. They did go a little overboard with the blue cheese for my tastebuds. My second visit was for a late breakfast. I started with an Irish coffee by recommendation of the bartender. It was a great way to start the day. It was strong enough but with the right balance. My breakfast plate didn't meet my expectations. My eggs were too running, bacon was chewy, toast was stale and the hash browns were only cooked on one side. I did ask for them to be crispy. They wouldn't even acknowledge them or say thank you. It felt like olden times, where the staff were treated like servants to a king or queen and were just expected to take abuse. It was really bad. ​A Quick Note on the Checkout Process ​Rushed Payment: The payment process felt a bit rushed. The server hands you a small payment machine and quickly pushes you to complete the transaction right then and there. ​Keep an Eye Out: We aren't the type of people to scrutinize a bill closely--if it's right around the expected amount, we don't worry about it. However, the lady at the table right before us was loudly complaining about a service fee on her bill, and she ended up not leaving a tip at all because of it. Combined with how fast they push the payment machine on you, it might be worth taking a quick second to look over your total if you are the type of person who likes to verify the fine print. Great happy hour throughout the restaurant until 6:30pm. Good service for our group of 10. Ted's is a reliable staple DC restaurant. Big portions and reasonable prices. About the lobster specials: the lobster Mac and cheese tasted good and had a decent amount of lobster but was a little liquidy. The lobster roll was good but I thought it would have more lobster based on some instagram posts I had seen online, and I got upcharged $1 to switch fries to a salad. I had the green juice, which felt like a good balance to the hearty meal, while my cousin went with mimosas, which felt very on brand for a relaxed weekday breakfast. The portions were generous, and the menu hits that comfort food sweet spot. It's the kind of place where you can always find something that sounds good, whether you're craving something indulgent or a little lighter. Service I'll admit the service wasn't great this time around. We had to ask for a few things multiple times because our server was forgetful and not the most attentive. Even simple things, like syrup not coming out with the pancakes, required a follow-up request, and by the time it arrived, the food had cooled off a bit. That said, I dined here a few weeks ago for dinner with a group of about eight people, and the service during that visit was much better. So I'm hoping this was just an off morning rather than the norm. Ambiance The restaurant itself is large and welcoming, making it a great option for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I've been to the U Street/14th Street location before, but this one is by far my favorite. The ambiance, aesthetic, and overall layout are modern, cute, sexy, and elevated. I absolutely love the bar space -- it adds such a great touch to the atmosphere. My partner and I made our way into Ted's Bulletin on a (holiday) Monday for brunch. It was busy but only about a 15 minute wait. Our server was kind/efficient and gave us some recommendations. We got the cinnamon roll to split - I wasn't expecting it to be that big - but it was so delicious and we loved it. I got the Turkish eggs for my meal and they were delightful. Everything was cooked well. The cold brew was OK - I felt like it was a bit too bitter but I did enjoy the hazelnut syrup. My biggest issue was our seating. While the street corn had the typical flavor, I found it to be quite soupy. The consistency was not what I expected, but the taste remained unaffected. The grilled chicken wrap was perfect, and the fries were well-cooked and seasoned with truffle oil. Our waiter was efficient but not very interactive. Poor management and staff training here clearly. It's clear that "customer S" is just a random person that doesn't really have an organized system to manage diner's issues while communicating with them. You basically have to talk to a random employee on the phone, then a random manager on duty at the time, and no real policy for handling complaints other than liking like they care online. No way to reach corporate beyond starting another random email thread that probably goes no where. Skip this location unless you care for busy atmosphere and bad training and management while dining. I believe someone from the group made a reservation on our behalf, but there was a little bit of a weekday lunch rush, so would recommend a reservation if you can. I was craving brunch and a bloody Mary!! One of my favorite brunch items is the salmon Benedict! We came on a Friday morning around 10:30 AM with Lil to no weight at all. I am a " frequent flyer " you can say for Ted's Bulletin as I go often because it is located right across the street from my office. The service is always fast because I normally place my order online with Toast. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, bur big enough to host larger parties from an office meeting to after-work happy hour if needed. I often by the strawberry matcha which is not too sweet and the staff allow you to choose from a variety of milk substitutions. Today I tried their new Szechuan hot chicken sandwich with fries. The chicken was crispy and flavorful, but really oily. So oily that the french fries were soaked as well. The cabbage mixed on top provided a nice cooling sensation as well.
