Lobster roll with salad, $1 upcharge for salad
    Kelly M.

Great happy hour throughout the restaurant until 6:30pm. Good service for our group of 10. Ted's is a reliable staple DC restaurant. Big portions and reasonable prices. About the lobster specials: the lobster Mac and cheese tasted good and had a decent amount of lobster but was a little liquidy. The lobster roll was good but I thought it would have more lobster based on some instagram posts I had seen online, and I got upcharged $1 to switch fries to a salad. I will definitely go back to Ted's but probably skip the lobsters next time.

Since moving to the Union Market/NoMa area, I've made it a point to dine at, shop at, and support local businesses whenever I can. Today's stop was breakfast at Ted's Bulletin, and it turned out to be the perfect Thursday morning day-off meal. The weather was lovely, so we grabbed a table outside and soaked it all in. Food For our entrées, we ordered steak, eggs, potatoes and pancakes, plus eggs and chicken sausage. Everything tasted fresh and satisfying, exactly what you want from a classic breakfast. I had the green juice, which felt like a good balance to the hearty meal, while my cousin went with mimosas, which felt very on brand for a relaxed weekday breakfast. The portions were generous, and the menu hits that comfort food sweet spot. It's the kind of place where you can always find something that sounds good, whether you're craving something indulgent or a little lighter. Service I'll admit the service wasn't great this time around. We had to ask for a few things multiple times because our server was forgetful and not the most attentive. Even simple things, like syrup not coming out with the pancakes, required a follow-up request, and by the time it arrived, the food had cooled off a bit. That said, I dined here a few weeks ago for dinner with a group of about eight people, and the service during that visit was much better. So I'm hoping this was just an off morning rather than the norm. Ambiance The restaurant itself is large and welcoming, making it a great option for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The outdoor patio is a wonderful addition, especially on beautiful days like today. Sitting outside with good food and nice weather made the whole experience feel easy and enjoyable. Overall Ted's Bulletin is a solid neighborhood staple and a great place to keep in rotation, especially if you live nearby like I do. The prices are decent and comparable to what's offered around the Union Market/NoMa area, which makes it an easy choice when you want a reliable meal without feeling like you overspent. I'll definitely be back and hoping for a smoother service experience next time, because the food and atmosphere make it worth another visit.

I visited Ted's Bulletin in December 2025 for brunch with two colleagues, and the experience at the NoMa location was phenomenal. I've been to the U Street/14th Street location before, but this one is by far my favorite. The ambiance, aesthetic, and overall layout are modern, cute, sexy, and elevated. I absolutely love the bar space -- it adds such a great touch to the atmosphere. Our server was extremely accommodating and gave us wonderful recommendations, including the viral cinnamon roll -- which is an absolute must-order. Yes, you have to get it. It did not disappoint. Our appetizers were delicious, my entrée was really good, and overall the experience was seamless and enjoyable. I would definitely return to this location again and am already planning to be back in 2026. Highly recommend.

My partner and I made our way into Ted's Bulletin on a (holiday) Monday for brunch. It was busy but only about a 15 minute wait. Our server was kind/efficient and gave us some recommendations. We got the cinnamon roll to split - I wasn't expecting it to be that big - but it was so delicious and we loved it. I got the Turkish eggs for my meal and they were delightful. Everything was cooked well. The cold brew was OK - I felt like it was a bit too bitter but I did enjoy the hazelnut syrup. My biggest issue was our seating. We were sat at a small high top that I felt like was more fitting for the cafe section than dining. It was really hard for us to be able to have the cinnamon roll appetizer and our meals.

We were in town for a few days and stopped in for drinks and snacks. The bartender was very nice and helpful. It is a bit upscale, but not too much and it was a fun stop. We tried deviled eggs and fried pickles along with a few beers. It's a good place to try.

I ordered the NY Strip Au Poivre 10 oz NY strip, roasted fingerling potatoes, sauteed spinach, peppercorn sauce... The meat itself was tender and wasnt chewy... However, the peppercorn "sauce" wasnt it... it was literally loaded with peppercorn as you can see in the picture. Overloaded.... With peppercorn which was burnt and made the meat bitter. Nice environment overall and calamari appetizer was on point.

My coffee and omelette at Ted's today were great! The service is quick, the servers are extremely attentive, and the environment is cozy! I really enjoyed the hash browns.

I am a frequent customer because normally the quality of the food is worth paying for. Today however, an incompetent greeter who I suppose was trying to be helpful and an incompetent "chef" working the pass failed to add my side order to the bag ‍. Yes, I know I should have checked the bag, but I'm a regular, - they always get it right. Not only did I have to return to get my side the food was over done.

An elevated casual experience. Honestly the best deviled eggs I have ever had. All the classics but an updated, high quality version. Good in a pinch - but on the weekends, make a reservation if you can!

This particular location is absolutely my favorite for the ambiance alone. They were easily able to accommodate my group and we had an excellent server that attended to all of our questions and dietary needs. Three things that I will never skip at Ted's Bulletin: devilled eggs, fried cornbread, and Ted's tarts. Each one is very well executed and a crowd pleaser every time. My fellow diners enjoyed a variety of dishes, but the short rib stroganoff was definitely a standout. Everyone certainly left full and happy. A few had shakes to go, which might have been the least exciting thing, but it was an overall satisfying meal. Go! Take a date, bring a friend or colleague. You won't be disappointed.

First time trying Ted's Bulletin and I was definitely impressed. The atmosphere was really nice & I noticed a lot of families dining in, which gave it a warm, welcoming vibe. Our waiter was friendly and gave great recommendations. I ordered the Ted's Bulletin burger with the egg fried hard, and let me just say this was my first time having an egg on a burger, and I'm sold! I'd get it again any day. I also swapped my regular fries for truffle fries, which were a great choice. My boyfriend ordered the fried chicken with biscuits and got the sausage gravy on the side. The chicken was fried perfectly with a nice crunch, the biscuits were soft, and the sausage gravy was so good you could honestly eat it by itself. My daughter got the mac and cheese with a side of fruit and cleaned her plate.. no crumbs left! I'd definitely come back, especially to try their breakfast/brunch since they serve it all day. Overall, I'd recommend Ted's for a solid breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

A solid breakfast joint that is still relatively new to the area. Friendly service and relatively affordable (given the high-end area). I definitely recommend the hash browns and the biscuits and gravy were okay.

The curry itself had a wee bit of spice and was a bit sweet - but that could have been from the sweet potatoes. The chicken was served in a bowl on the side, which felt a bit... odd... I would've expected it to be incorporated into the main dish. It was kind of bland and a bit lukewarm, so I don't know that I'd order that again... but I would definitely order this again!

We were sat in the solarium area, and it was during the heat dome, and it was really warm in there. Otherwise, though, it's completely charming inside and reminds us of some of the best French bistros we've been to in the country (e.g. Balzathar, Le Supreme). The three cocktails we tried--the frose, le jardin, and the clouseau--were all stunners. And of course the bread deserves another special mention, *especially* the room temperature butter. Thank you for not serving hard as hell butter! We shared the warm shrimp salad to start, and for $31, we were expecting more than a few avocado slices and 4 shrimp on it, but c'est la vie. The dressing was incredible, and the greens were crunchy. That's actually the only dish of the night that we thought was unfairly overpriced. One of us ordered the burger and the other got the rabbit pappardelle--you've got to get rabbit when you see it on a menu, which isn't often enough! There was a good amount of super tender meat and the pasta was perfectly al dente, all in a lightly stunning sauce. Chef's kiss. The burger was, no surprise, another triumph. There was juicy meat, bun integrity, and all the right accouterment notes. The fries are standard. Our daughter got their mac-n-cheese, which is probably just the gratin dish renamed. It was OK. We kind of got out of control for dessert and ordered the pot de creme, the cookie dough ice cream, and the profiteroles. Honestly, these were all good, but nothing that stood out as exemplary as with the savory stuff. Our only major complaint was the service. It was really spotty and while there was a very, very long gap in between when we got our water and then put in our drinks, but our mains came out almost directly after the salad. And the guy was just not very hospitable. Not necessarily a "bad" experience...it just could have been a lot better. Four stars, and we have already declared that we will be back again to "The Dip" because there is so much else on the menu that we want to try.

That said, a couple missteps that should not have occurred took this review into the negative realm. Let's start with the positive. This appears to be a great new addition to the neighborhood, and I hope it is supported. The appetizers were delicious and nicely presented. The pistachio feta with grilled pita was tasty and interesting. The halloumi with orange marmalade was as well. The hostess was engaging and friendly. The atmosphere was calming with a touch of casual refinement. One of the entrees was delicious (the scallops and grits). I'd order all three items mentioned so far, again. The negative. The second entree was the short rib. It was tender and.... Wow, way too salty. A shame because it was otherwise well cooked and nicely plated. But whoa. When the hostess came by, my girlfriend kindly said it was a bit salty. I "refined" her answer and said she was being nice, but it was very salty. The hostess went to note this for the kitchen (a positive for her), and because we are on the first floor outside the kitchen window I heard the conversation. The chef responded that he knew what had happened. Earlier when preparing the short rib someone (in his words) blasted it with salt. What this tells me is that they knew they'd made something close to inedible but served it anyway. At the end of our meal we had leftovers of the two apps and the short rib. We asked for a bit of extra pita to take home and they provided. Then the bill arrived. Not only was there no adjustment for the inedible short rib, but they charged us $2 for the pita. The least they could have done was just given us the pita. Ah well. Those two missteps; 1) serving a known and improperly prepared entree, and 2) not doing something to make good when reported, have led to this sadly negative review for a place that could and should have gotten a positive one. Hopefully someone there will see this, and the experience and review will be a learning opportunity that will help them thrive.

I reserved in advance and arrived on time for a 21st birthday brunch in DC. We drove over an hour…read moreand told the restaurant it was a special occasion, asking to bring a cake--we were told "of course." From the start, the hostess was the only positive part. After seating, we waited 10-15 minutes and two different people had to ask if we'd been helped before she came over and got our server. The server barely introduced herself and only asked whether we wanted tap, spring or sparkling water. We barely saw our server and when we did, it was unpleasant. When she returned, she said, "y'all know what y'all want," which felt inappropriate for a 21st birthday celebration. Considering that she didn't ask about appetizers. It just felt like we were a bother. Then four out of five meals arrived first, but the birthday girl's food came about five minutes later. We waited to eat until her meal arrived, and my grits were already congealed. Refills were limited to water from the hostess, dessert was never offered, and the server left the check while the adults were in the restroom with two teenagers at the table. We would've ordered dessert. Even the cake felt handled last-minute. The hostess retrieved it from the fridge, added the candles, and offered plasticware and to-go boxes instead of plates, which seemed odd. We discussed the cake beforehand, and after it arrived I told the hostess she could cut a piece if she wanted. Then the server yelled "no" rudely over the table. It felt like she was upset we brought a cake, and communicated to the hostess that we wouldn't get plates or actual silverware, despite being told beforehand it was fine. Overall, the service felt unwelcoming and inattentive, leaving the meal far below what we expected. We didn't even feel comfortable taking pictures. We will never ever be back and I have already steered my friends away from your establishment.
