My husband had the ice cream nachos with butterscotch dip and rainbow sprinkles, Our favorite part of these were the waffle chips. Would highly recommend that dish. The shop is cute but got very busy while we were there and there was only one employee. I felt really bad for her because she got swamped but she handled it well. Definitely give it a try if you are in the area.

There is a large backyard area if you are looking to stay a while and eat your treats. There are also many seating areas on the porch. When you arrive, the available flavors are on the chalkboard menu. I then told the employee at the counter what I wanted, and he even put them in a Ziploc baggie for me to take home. They made the drive okay, even though it took longer than usual, because a big truck decided to go 35mph on a 55mph road. I went with Mexican chocolate, lavender cream, watermelon, ginger limeade and orange mango. They were as delicious as I remembered. I also left with an item from the bakery. I enjoyed every bite of that, too. The Mexican-style popsicles are what Locopops is known for, but they also have ice cream. The locopops come in regular and mini sizes. They offer both dairy and non-dairy flavors. I didn't see the pints of ice cream until I was on my way out, or I would have picked one up too. In their retail area, they also have some non-food items like puzzles, games and cards. I think I saw some soaps and jewelry, too. So you might just find a gift for someone here, too.

Over the last couple years however, the flavor and quality of their once-famous cinnamon rolls has changed. Their icing has become somewhat bitter and the dough isn't as soft and delicious as it once was. We would happily make a trip downtown just to bring some home. It's been a while so I went in today to give them another try. I arrived just after they opened and was told they'd have no baked goods or cinnamon rolls for 20+ minutes. The person working there (not the main owner) didn't seem to be bothered by the idea that a business that specializes in baked goods had no product on shelf at the time they opened. We've always supported local businesses in Pittsboro and really hope Willy's can get back to their roots and their distinctive cinnamon rolls and high quality service they used to be known for!

I was blown away by how attentive and friendly they were despite being super busy. For the environment, the place felt a bit loud and crowded - which for one was a testament to how well liked it appeared to be (we are visiting from out of state) and how they had to make very creative use of the space as they must cater to so many in a smaller space. It was also clean and quite nostalgic with lots of interesting old time memorabilia - and didn't try to go too cheesy and over the top with the theme though again was a bit too busy and crowded and could have maybe used a more highlighted 'less is more' approach to showcase the ice cream shoppe feel, the old time candy shop ambience, etc. I also loved that there were no tvs to distract from the ppl in front of us, and though time period music would be fun, it might have made it even too much louder. I appreciated very much that they seemed to want ppl to talk and enjoy the company in front of them. The fried pickles app was really good, and the dreamsicle style shake and curly fries - sooo delicious! The ice cream concoctions we didn't try, but saw delivered all around us were huge and fun and looked so good! The BLT was a bit dry and could have used a good mayo or sauce, and my sister's Hawaiian chicken didn't have the Hawaiian bun but it was unique and still not bad. Though with the soda shoppe name I had hoped for more unique or home made soda concoctions or offerings. Overall though- the food was mostly really really good; it seemed cute and beloved and very popular with the town; and there was a clear pride in the place - and very apparent love and appreciation of the customers by the staff which was number one in what I saw and was very impressed by. We were going out for a big dinner later so this was suppose to be a small lunch. My wife ordered a cup of soup. I ordered a bowl of brunswick soup and a grilled pimento cheese sandwich. I could not finish the soup as the bowl was large and amount of meat in it was abundit. My grilled cheese was wonderful, I love pimento cheese. Unfortunately we could not try any of the soda or ice cream products this trip. The service is great and friendly. Restrooms are restored old school design. Will return to try other menu items and some Soda Shoppe product.
