It tasted exactly as described, just nothing crazy. Da Yat was good for my first half of the sub, but it started to feel very heavy at the end. Lastly, spice. As someone who loves spice , but has lower than average tolerance, it wasn't super spicy. Yes, there is spice and it can build up each bite (especially with the fried Okra), but it will not make you feel like your tongue is on fire. Spice enthusiasts may want to request the more spice. Balanced really well with the bread and veggies. Not overly sauced or salty. Amazing. The jambalaya was also great. Great temperature, texture, and flavors. Overall, awesome spot. A handwritten sign taped over the display: Turkey dinner with cranberry, stuffing, potato, smothered in gravy. I brought it home and it was truly a delight, Decadent and delicious; I snacked on it all night. Fast forward to today, it's the day after Pride, I'm hungover and hungry from yesterday's ride. I call Dirty Verti to see if turkey dinner's on the board, Only to be told it's not a regular menu item--my wishes ignored. Who must I talk to to get the turkey dinner back? I hate to say it, but in comparison, the other menu items lack. To Roger, to Sam, to the whole Hatfield family: I'm starving and hungover; please hear my plea. The ordering experience was a bit gruff and rough around the edges, but from then on, everything went right. First, you can hang out in the bar area at Erin Rose (I swear the crowd was friendlier than they looked) and eat there if there's space. I highly recommend their Paradise Peach, which seems to be from a local brewery. The bright, peach flavor of the lager does well to wash down the sandwich in the summer heat. I went with an order of the Braised Beef Debris Poboy and this is hands down not just the best Poboy I've ever had in my life, but the best beef or steak any sandwich I've ever had in my life! I wolfed it down so quickly and have to say the pickled green bean and banana peppers with that spike of horseradish sauce really sent this Poboy soaring! The braised beef was absolutely perfect and tender, amazingly so! I can get a bit picky about beef because I hate it when it's tough or gristly or has too much fatty parts that won't melt down, but I didn't have a problem with any of that. I'm no butcher, but seemed like they used a good part of the beef of what's already a fairly quality cow (Louisiana Wagyu Beef I recall reading) or maybe it was the whole braising process, but I wish I could have this for days! I'm going to be sad going back to Houston and not being able to eat this, but hopefully it'll still be around and just as amazing next time I'm back in town.
