This is an OLD Motel. Dog friendly and clean. No breakfast service but granola bars, yogurt in the fridge and coffee/tea service after 0800. WiFi doesn't work, says your connecting or connected but never able to log on. So if you need to get work done while you stay, call and see if they got better service. Fix of turning your electronic off and on ,putting aluminum foil on your head doesn't help. Either way I would stay again. Wasn't a 5 star but quiet, comfortable and clean. read more

The lady at the front desk was very friendly. We felt a very strong odor upon entering the room, almost as gas. The room was a little dirty and there were hairs in the shower. Ugh! I ended up booking a difference place, although I couldn't get a refund for the Circle R Motel. I do not recommend at all! read more

The motel is an older establishment that has been updated. A fridge and microwave in your room. Clean and updated bathroom. The shampoo, conditioner, hand wash, etc are in dispensers rather than tiny bottles, which I love... and they are the awesome EO brand with essential oils. There is a hot tub on site and with just 17 rooms, you are likely to be the only ones in it. They have townie bikes you can check out and ride to the nearby dinner and drink places. And the best part? EV charging for guests!!! If you are looking for a well cared for motel and to support a local business rather than a mega chain, this is a must. read more

This place is okay. The rooms were clean, but could use a little love. The heater makes a constant clicking noise which kept us both awake and we had to turn it off. The blanket is very thin, but the bed is comfy. The walls are also paper thin which makes it so you hear everyone else. We were in room 10. Lots of barking dogs and loud people. (Not the motels fault, but was not a good experience for us) Inexpensive place if you need a quick place to stay. read more

This was the experience I paid & hoped for. Unfortunately, my afternoon & night included non-functional internet, cable TV., & impacted my iPhone service. Staff (lady?) called repair, they never came; she didn't follow up w/ me as she said she would. By morning, after a non-productive night, the 10% discount offered hardly offset the hours of work product I missed handling. Staff's response to distress-yet-calm discussion of same was eventually a slammed inner office door upon me. (She) knew my stay was not a happy one. To feel better about my stay & price, I made a suggestion to mutually pay-it-forward in accommodation to a weary vet-traveler waiting 5 hours in front of the motel for his 2-night booking. I asked if he could be checked in a bit earlier to the room we were vacating after it was cleaned...... Her NO, citing local covid law (which I do understand), left the 10% discount on our stay tasting just dry-silly in my mouth as the vet & his dog waited in the heated shade. #disjointed humanoid compassion expectations, my bad. read more

Circle R Motel was a fun and funky find in Salida! We had a pleasant and informative check-in with lots of local info on where to eat, what to see, and how to get around. Our room was recently remodeled and had some neat mid-mod accents. The room was clean and smelled nice, and the beds had new foam mattresses which were quite comfortable to sleep on. The room was also very clean, the parking area was well-lit, and they had EV chargers built into old gas pumps. Overall a really neat place that we would be happy to visit again next time we are in the area. read more

This was our first stop on our honeymoon. We like to find the locally owned and off the beaten path motels, especially when it's a good deal. The service was friendly upon check in and throughout our stay. It was about $20 more than my confirmation email stated. We were so tired I didn't even say anything, I'm sure part was taxes and maybe the dog fee. I understand they live there and need their peace, but they were not flexible on letting us check in past 10 pm. We were really behind getting out of town as our wedding was the day before and life was chaotic. But we made it. One of the reasons I booked a motel rather than camping or just winging reservations (which we did the remainder of the week) was so we could shower. Unfortunately shampoo and conditioner aren't provided here. There was a dispenser of some sort in the shower and a soap dispenser by the sink. We planned to shop for the week as it was the next morning but we had to do so early in order to shower up before check out and a week of camping. Compared to the other 2 mountain town motels we found, this was the most expensive by far. Love that they allow dogs though and have no reason to tell someone not to stay here. read more

In just had the best two night stay at Circle R Motel in Salida. My bed was comfortable, the pillows soft and the room was clean. I appreciated I had a fridgerator and microwave as well as laundry facilities. Great price , location and wonderful family who operates it. read more

Circle R is a cute idea that has not been well maintained, which is a necessity for retro motel concept. Rooms are small and very dated (and not on purpose). Bath is a squatter despite the nice towels and other amenities provided. Gravel, dirt and cigarette buts on the sidewalk. Definitely an adventure I won't repeat. read more

Circle R is a step back in time. Had a wonderful time during our stay. Everything was clean and we loved the retro old school feeling. This is the second time we had stayed here and will stay again while visiting Salida and the surrounding area. Stayed there again while on a trip to Mesa Verde and Cortez. Perfect place to stay. Circle R is 10 blocks from the historic section and the walk was lovely through the beautiful historic neighborhoods. My husband and I stayed here while we were in town for the FibArk festival over the weekend. We were given a list of accommodations in the area by some friends and the Circle R was on the list. It was, by far, the most reasonably priced on the list and a great find in this generally pricey region. The Circle R was the right fit for us - not too fancy and not too expensive. All we did is sleep in our room because there's so much to do in and around Salida. The rooms are simple but provide everything you need. There was a TV, mini-fridge, microwave and free wi-fi - all very convenient. Bedding was clean and fresh. The owners were very friendly, accommodating and made us feel right at home. This place is a great find with lots of character. The price for this place is well worth it! We will stay here again. read more

This little mid-century motel has really improved since the new owners bought it. Many conveniences including laundry, ice, small refrigerators in the rooms, etc. Looked like original wood floors in our room. Super nice staff and very friendly! Clean and very comfortable. Nice motel! I admit I was apprehensive pulling into the parking lot after my wife told me she didn't book a chain motel. My initial reaction, without really looking at the property closely was "Oh boy, a run down roadside motel." My wife checked in and we drove to the front door of our room, so right away I was wondering what we were in for. I unpacked the car and walked into the room and took a deep breathe... and nothing! It smelled like clean air! I looked at the room and saw two neatly made beds, a nice desk and a small fridge with a microwave above it, nicely painted walls and decent carpet. This room was updated nicely with plenty of outlets to accomadate two teenagers and two adults and all our gadgets. The bathroom was very nice! It was completely updated with a roomy modern sink, nice faux wood tile flooring and a great shower with spa quality soaps and lotions! My wife came out of the shower smelling wonderful! So did I, too bad the kids were in the same room! Meeting one of the owners, Ann, the next morning was really cool. The coffee was great and so were the granola bars and yogurt , but best of all was talking with Ann, she was informative and easy to talk to. She and her husband have done a great job renovating this place in only two years and they have cool plans for they future so I encourage you to stay here and support the growth of this motel because it will only get better! We made a last minute reservation and got the last room. In the morning we took a walk, came back to our room and saw this sign on the door for a 3pm check out. We were pleased as we wanted to walk around town. Around 11am we told the owner, Lee, that we weren't checking out yet. He asked if he could strip the beds and we said no, because our belongings were still in the room. When we came back, 2 hours later, he was in the room cleaning. We walked in and said, "is it 3pm?" He said he didn't know and that check out was at 11am. I told him that wasn't what the sign on the back of the door said. He repeated himself. ***At no time during check in were we told check out time. *** Very unprofessional and not appreciated. Add this situation to some other issues and we won't be back. read more

BED BUGS. Stay away... Keep in mind, we love old vintage hotels, and were excited for this motel. We stayed here last night with two little kids (started in room 3 and was moved to room 2). After being in bed for just a bit, I noticed a bug. Obviously, I was shocked and looked in the bed one of my daughters was sleeping in. I found the same bugs. I put one in a cup and took it to the front desk, who told me "yep, that's a bed bug". They moved us to a new room. However rather than taking responsibility, we were accused of bringing the bugs with us! Absolutely no possible way. This place is absolutely deplorable. Proper customer service would have been to offer a full refund, which was not the case in our situation. I would highly recommend avoiding this place at all cost. read more

I actually signed up with Yelp just because I wanted to write a bad review of this place. One of the nastiest motels I have ever stayed in. As mentioned by other posters here, the room was very dirty, musty and smelled like a damp dog. The AC didn't work, the TV didn't work well and they had even lost the key to the hot tub when we were there, which was a huge disappointment after a day of hiking a 14er. The bed was lumpy and uncomfortable and it really did smell like the sheets hadn't been washed (reading the other poster's comment about that convinced me that I wasn't imagining that). I stayed here when it was owned by other people and it was great. I will absolutely never stay here again now though. read more

We had two rooms both were clean and comfortable. Liked the abundance of AC receptacles for my devices. TV didn't work in one room staff could only get it to partially work. There was some confusion when the front office opens 8am or 9am. Wouldn't be that critical but that was where the free coffee was located. Rooms were reasonably priced.
