We had a good 2-night stay. Great value and very convenient to Salida hot springs rec. center. Loved the EO brand toiletries for bath and shower. Clean, quiet facility, nice hot tub. Snack breakfast grab and go caters to outdoors folks. If you want a big breakfast the Patio Pancake Place is a block away and will fill you up with awesome breakfasts choices and very reasonable. read more

The owners were friendly and I appreciated only paying a $5 per night pet fee. Not fancy and the price seemed a bit high for what it was, but given our desperate need for a spot to stay after a failed camping experience, it worked. I learned that Salida, in general, is kind of expensive for lodging, so this may have truly been the cheapest, or close to the cheapest option. read more

Drove over 1000 miles and arrived early. 11:30 am. Tried to ask manager if there was any way we could check in early as we were staying for 4 nights and was willing to pay extra if needed. When asked manager she just walked away and told me check in and office opened at 3:30 PM. Drove around until about 3:15 PM and returned to hotel, by this time we were exhausted. 3:30 PM came and still the office was not open. Manager opened office at 3:45 pm. I was upset by now with the customer service that I had received and asked what I had to do to cancel my reservation without a charge. She told me if I stayed 1 night I could cancel the remaining nights without a charge. I told her that, that is what we would do. In the morning when I went to check out she told me that I was still going to be charged for an extra night as I needed to give 48 hours notice. This was posted in the confirmation email that I received but I felt that I was cancelling because of the disrespect the manager showed us when we were trying to check in. When I reminded the manager that she told me that if I stayed the 1 night I would not be charged anything extra she told me she was new and it wasn't her fault that she had lied to me. I asked her for the owners number as I wanted to speak to them and she told me she would get a hold of them and have them call me. This was a week ago and still have not received a call. I gave them a 2 stars as the room was acceptable but nothing special. I would not recommend this hotel while staying in the Salida Co. area as we went right across the street the next day and was able to check in by about 1 PM when their check in time was 3 PM. The room was much nicer too for about $10.00 more a night. Well worth the extra money. read more

This classic-looking motel has done a nice job with renovating their rooms. Clean, simple rooms and bathrooms with comfortable enough beds. This is a no-frills kinda place, for folks who are not looking to spend their days hanging at the motel. read more

My husband and I stayed here during our trip down to Salida to see the Gentlemen of the road tour with Mumford and Sons. Not only was this the last room available, but it turned out to be an excellent stay! The owners, Pam and Lee were so welcoming and great hosts. They even let us borrow a cooler, as we had forgotten ours. The rooms are simple and clean but the service and friendliness more then made up for any lack in sophistication. We would highly recommend this Motel for any couple looking to pass through Salida. read more

This is a charming mid century motel. When they said it was remodeled they meant it. The room are big, nice products in eco conscious containers. The desk looks like a fancy hotel with lots of outlets for recharging. Frig and microwave, reading lights. Lovely owners. I messed up the reservation and they were still able to accomodate us. We have been on vacation for a week and have paid much more for a lot less in the way of room size and amenities. Salida has a lovely downtown area. The best meal I've had all week was at The Currents. read more

High price for the value. Old, yes, but also questionable cleanliness. There were several signs starting with "in order to keep our costs down...." Which not only rubbed me the wrong way, and we're not very hospitable, but also made me wonder what else they do to keep costs down. Do they wash everything after every guest? It's obvious they have not updated in decades. The shower seemed dirty, and the whole place made me very uncomfortable. My husband and I normally look for the most inexpensive hotel, so we are not used to really nice places, but I had a very difficult time feeling safe, clean, and comfortable here. Almost went to another hotel and just wrote off the cost of this room (more than you would think) as a loss. read more

I checked into the hotel at 12:30 on June 11th, I asked when I got there if it was ok to check in early and she was very nice about letting us check in early. At this time she said that the rooms when one bed where getting the front doors painted so she moved us to a room with 2 beds. My 1 year old and 5 year old got set up in the room and went into town. Later that night after my girls where sleeping I was playing on my phone and a small clear looking bug ran over my arm and down the side of the bed. I rolled over and was still playing on my phone and this time a much bigger bug was by my head. I sat up and looked for the bug when I found it, it was a oval brown flat bug. At this point I moved in to bed with my 5 year old and shorty after I got into bed with her I saw the same kind of bug on her pillow. I got the bug and took it to the front desk, the husband took the bug out and squashed it and the bug was full of blood. That is when he told me it was a bed bug and at that point the wife started telling me they had never had bugs so it was my fault. I went back to the room with the husband and he looked and did not find anymore but shorty after he left I found another one on my bed. I called and they said they would move me to another room. I put all my stuff in my car and moved rooms, I talked to the husband about just leaving that night but he talked me into staying because of all the deer and other animals on the roads at night. By this time in was midnight and I had planed on leaving around 5am, I had told both of them that I was leaving early. My girls both where upset and I only got about 3 hours of sleep. The next day I had a lot of bites and they just got worse. By Saturday morning I had blisters and could only open my right eye a little and went to urgent care. They never offered a refund and have been very rude saying it was from me. I have spend a lot of money trying to keep the bugs out of my house and would like my money back for the night at the hotel. I had my house checked today and they found no signs of us ever having bed bugs. I called and the lady told me that she rented the room out the next night and the people did not have any problems. At least you should have had the room checked before you rented it out again. read more

I kinda liked this place. It's a 50's style motel, and I expected the rooms to be run down a bit, but it wasn't. My room was clean, the bed was comfy, and I'm not really sure why there are so many other negative reviews here, as it's pretty freakin obvious you aren't staying at a Hampton Inn. We stayed here for 5 days while we rode dirt bikes. Everyday they came in to make the beds, replace the towels and tidy up. There was fresh paint everywhere, and every night we sat in the hot tub after a hard day riding the trails. I'd stay here again. read more

We decided to stay here based on the small fee for having our dogs. We weren't expecting much, because we had stayed here before about a year prior but this time it was downright gross. It's an older, out of date place, but last time it was really clean. Not this time. There was so much dirt under the bed. it was sticking to us and our dogs. There was also candy and a dried up peach pit under there. The shower was filled with mold, and air conditioner kept freezing up. We tried to speak to someone about these issues throughout our stay, but there was never anyone in the office. Always a sign saying they would be back at a certain time, but they never were. When we first arrived, we had to sit outside for half an hour, and then a sleepy looking man came out of one of the rooms and opened the office. When we tried to turn in our keys and let them know the shower was making gurgling sounds when you flushed the toilet, there was no one in the office. This was at the peak time of guests checking out. We ended up dropping the keys in a key slot and left it to them to figure out. I would gladly pay three times the pet fee somewhere else. Oh and it still cost us $90/night. There is NO WAY this is close to a $90/night hotel. read more

We stayed in Room #2 and found the bathroom to be disgusting. I had to laugh at a sign in the bathroom that asked you to use a blue washcloth for makeup removal to help keep costs down. There was no such blue washcloth given and they are already keeping costs down by not paying anyone to clean or do maintenance on the property! The tub was stained and dirty. The area around the tub was covered with poorly installed caulking that was moldy and filthy. We could not bring ourselves to shower in it the next morning. The sheets on the bed were questionable as to their cleanliness and were so full of static that every time I moved it looked like fireworks. The thought of a spark causing a fire in the sheets crossed my mind! The door on this room was extremely difficult to operate on both sides. Part of our party stayed in room 9, which also had a filthy bathroom. Around the property there was a lot of junk lying by the side of the building- old paint cans, boards, metal pieces, which are safety hazards. From the street, this vintage motel looks quaint and well kept, it's a shame the inside didn't match. read more
