Well...went last night (Sunday) and got there somewhat late (8:00 pm and closes at 9:00 on Sunday)...the food was ok but not great Service was ok but not great...we were three people and there only was one more couple in the entire restaurant, so can't really rate the ambiance...so only a few people in an entire restaurant and yet the service was just ok...had to send one of the plates back to reheat the "cold" food and I get it...Sunday night almost closing time, BUT the worst part was the smell inside the restaurant...it smelled like rancid oil (my clothes are still smelling up the other stuff in the hamper) don't know what it was from, didn't ask about it (I should have) but again...I give them the benefit of the time and day of the week so, everything was semi-justified except that terrible rancid smell of hot cooking oil! One of those times that I want to go 5 stars but I have to be honest with my adoring public, or short of that, the unfortunate soul who has to read this dribble. Sat at the bar. Service was excellent. Bartender was very helpful and made my two drinks-a smoked old fashioned and...I don't remember the second-perfectly. I know I know, if I don't remember then how good could it have been, but keep in mind, we're talking about alcohol here, so not remembering is a mark of a great drink. I started with their chips and salsa. They have 4 of them, a red and green a mango and a black bean. I think. Double check the menu. I asked for a suggestion and the bartender said she preferred the red, so I got it. However, this was a very disappointing salsa. Bland, no spice, very runny. Chips were good but the salsa was a miss. Still, there are 3 others to try. I also got 4 tacos. Their impossible taco and the tofu taco as well as a chicken cobb taco. First two were amazing. Seriously, they do vegan wonderfully here. The cobb one though was bland and boring and I don't know why. Plenty on it, but no flavor. Bartender explained the elderly crowd likes it but not the younger crowd, which makes sense. Elderly people tend to not like spicy foods. To make up for finishing my tacos on a bland note, I also got their taco of the week or day or whatever. It was a brisket taco that was a home run. Clearly the cobb taco was just a bad order. I really liked it here. Great bourbon menu, excellent drinks, and fantastic vegan tacos and special taco. Love my tacos on Tuesday!! We wanted margaritas and tacos today. I searched and Circo came up, reviews and photos looked amazing. It was such a beautiful evening, we sat outside, NOVA was our server, she was incredible!!! Very informative and friendly. Gave us great details about the restaurant and how the foods were made. My current favorite taco place in Sarasota by a long shot. This place sells really good and premium tacos for a decent price (often with bogos). It's decorated in a fun way, the service is usually pretty fast, and the tacos have excellent and sometimes subversive flavor pallets to them. I had stopped dining here for a while, but their quality has remained at an exceptional level, so I will return when I get the chance. read more

Awesome little place downtown with plenty of seating, a nice bar, and even a (awkwardly placed) pinball machine. I love Stern's Deadpool, but didn't want to play that close to people eating. Korean - A nice treat. This was much spicier than I was expecting (Usually I can't even notice spice) so this taco is a huge plus if you like spicy. The meat was moist and very well done. You get a nice bit of sesame taste and it's oh so good. Weekly Taco (Jerk Chicken) - Can't say anything good about this. I love jerk chicken, but this wasn't jerk chicken. The other tacos made up for it. Walking Taco - A Frito pie. This is comfort food for me, but I wasn't expecting such a flavorful take on it. Easily the best "bang for your buck" taco here, but still as pricey as the rest. There was a lot of delicious beef, queso, and lime crema here that made this awesome. I'm going to add lime crema to my Frito pies from now on because of this place. Going to end this by saying the taco prices are a bit steep for what you get, however, Circo has weekly happy hours, Taco Tuesday, Thirsty Thursdays, and I think another special on Mondays. Great experience at Circo today! Greeted promptly at the door by a waitress who shared the new updates rules and regulations due to COVID. The restaurant has a super cool atmosphere and decor. Loved the bathrooms! Food was fantastic! I had the buffalo chicken taco and the Cubano. Great choices. Corn salsa and guacamole were delish too. Cute little Mexican restaurant that opened up in downtown Sarasota, across from Whole Foods. The place followed the rules for the most part- social distancing the tables, waiter was wearing mask and gloves, using dispensable menus and silverware and plates. I saw the cook in the kitchen didn't wear a mask though, so that kind of worried me. The food came out pretty fast. It wasn't busy during lunchtime when we went so I was glad. They were doing a brunch menu too so we ordered biscuits and gravy, beef quesadilla, chips and cheese dip, 3 tacos and margaritas. I'll start with the margaritas. Nothing special here. It tasted like sour mix and not authentic. They were strong which is always good but I'll pass on it next time. 2/5 Biscuits and gravy were cold. The biscuit was flavorless and was a bit too hard for my liking. Gravy was okay but again, lacking flavor compared to other places. I'll pass on this too. 2/5 Beef quesadilla- this was my second favorite. I love the big chunks of beef and the cheese was melted all the way. It was very filling. 5/5! Chips and cheese dip- no thanks, not authentic at all. It tasted like cheese from the grocery store that you can microwave up. Pass. 1/5 Tacos- beef and pork- excellent! My favorite! The tacos were absolutely amazing. Flavorful, good portions, didn't fall apart when you take a bite. They give good meat portions and it all fit nicely into the wrap. I'll definitely want to order more tacos from here and not the other stuff next time! 5/5! Overall, good place for a quick lunch. Ms. Alana the bartender first day. Just because you are a good server doesn't mean you will be good at bartending. Our so-called top shelf Margaritas were awful/ weak/ sour tasting. I wish I had just ordered food because the food was amazing. Tuesday is the day you should have lunch because you buy one taco and get on free day. My favorite appetizer was the mango salsa. As you may have learned by reading any of my reviews, I am all about service. Great service can save a bad experience. Great food can not. Componets of an experince are: Atmosphere Environment Food Service Let's start at the top. The Atmosphere is nothing unique. They seem to be going for a casual, conversational set up. By and large it works. Not a fan of no two people tables , high tables and single diners at the bar, but it is what it is. It is non offensive, if uninspired. The environment matches the atmosphere; tvs showing sports behind the bar, music over head, a tad noisey if trying to have a conversation but nothing that creats a real distraction. Food. They have a decent size menu with a small variety of apps that include various salsas at varrying temps. I tried the mango salsa. I found it to be light, refreshing and rather delightful. The chips were way too greasy. That is a negative. I had the tamale cakes; the actual female cakes were about the size of a quarter and covered in so much topping that the tamale couldnt be easily identify by taste or texture. It wasn't bad, but not good enough to reccomened . I also jad their Frito taco. The plating was sloppy as I had to fight the paper that lined the tray it was served on; tye paper was not put on properly. The meat was nearly a ghost ingredient vs a feature. The flavor was okay, but again not good enough to recommend . Service was a different story. As a single diner I am used to being ignored. This establishment was no different. When I was acknowledged the night turned around. The server I had was Chelsey. She was the only server that smiled at all her customers , made eye contact and showed genuine intrest. How do I know? I watched the other servers that had tables near me, watched how she interacted with her other tables. Now, the one area she was lacking was in menu experience but that is a a kitchen and management issue. With such a minimal menu it is inexcusable that she had no first hand knowledge of the salas. To her credit she refused to recommend anything she had not tried and shared what seemed to be popular or well recieved items. Servers need to know the food they are serving. It's good business. Chelsey was an outstanding server, providing the best service experince I have had in Sarasota since I moved here in december of 2020. Also, a bit of service redemption for Julia. Patrons of one of her tables finished, paid and left. As she cleared the table, did her thing she noticed that a sweater was left at the table. Instead of putting in the lost and found she ran out of the restaurant, and down the street. Id say a half a block (again my Seat location created great viewing) she found the owner, returned the sweater. When she came back in she was smiling brightly and showed a side of her personality that was lacking prior but was maintained for the rest of the night . All in all the experience was fine. I'd like better than fine but in Sarasota fine maybe as good as it gets. Now if every server had Chelseys attitude and Julia's ability to do what is right, dinning in FL could be a treat even when the food is nothing special. Chelsey will be placed on my list for Hospitality Artisan of the year, 2022. In 2021 no one person made the cut, but there was one retail staff that earned by Hospitality Artisan of the Year award. read more

Great Experience at Circo. Cool atmosphere, friendly staff and tasty tacos. We started the evening with some craft bourbon cocktails or just straight up Buffalo trace for me and then ordered some chips , salsa and the goat cheese guacamole. The chips were hot and fresh and the salsa with the devil heat additive was very good too. For entrees we sampled a variety of unique Taco choices. The Mongolian Beef..fantastic, the buffalo chicken taco, the tuna poke taco and the chicken biscuit. All were very well prepared and tasty. Oh don't forget the street corn ... very good. Lastly we ended the evening with the fresh popping hot churros. with the chocolate dipping sauce. That's worth the trip alone. If you are looking for a cozy spot for something different, Circo fits the bill. If you don't like paying for chips or lively atmosphere. Stay home or go to on the border. Came here for drinks on a girls night. The atmosphere was definitely fun. The bourbon margarita was strong but good. The regular margarita was okay. Do not recommend the mango or prickly pair. The mango tasted like a regular margarita and the server had to bring us a side of mango syrup to make it taste like mango. The prickly pear was just way too sweet for our taste. For drinks, I'd say it was okay. We didn't try the food though so can't speak to that. read more

Order from the digital menu or get full service, so much selection in tacos. We also got the camp fire grilled cheese for the kids-- they didn't like it because it had salsa in it. My dad wanted a second order of the goat cheese guacamole, that was our table favorite. Mango salsa and queso fundido (cheese, meat & guacamole together-- sounds strange but it's really good) were both excellent choices, great taste and good choice if you want to start eating right away. The jug of margaritas comes in a small milk jug and serves about 3 full glasses for $27. It was fresh and delicious. They make it fresh in house each morning. Tacos were all tasty, we liked the tuna the best, then shrimp was spicy and excellent, and all had unique flavor. Cuban is popular and we thought it was just ok. The street corn was spicy and worth a try with a variety of seasoning for $5. Food comes out fast, service is fast too, they deliver food and are ready to take the plates away as soon as you're done. There was a burger on the menu also that looked great. Bathrooms are large and very clean, overall, Circo is doing high quality food and service across the board, we'll be back. read more

The outdoor tables and chairs were still wet, but our server kindly wiped down everything when we asked to sit outside (because covid). Thank you! I choose the strawberry margarita, churros, poutine and chicharrones were like potato chips from 7-11. All which were okay. I ate tacos too. This place was such a great find in downtown Sarasota! Ambiance is fun and relaxed, lively but not too loud on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. Decor is fun with a mix of industrial/modern on the walls/ceiling and then these super cozy couches with pillows lining the walls. We started with the chips and goat cheese guacamole. I was skeptical because goat cheese is such a strong flavor but my husband was really into the idea and I'm so glad he convinced me because I'm definitely going to try and recreate it at home! Chips come hot and thick which is just how I like them and the guacamole definitely had goat cheese but it wasn't overpowering. Drinks are good -- highly recommend the light and refreshing de sota as well as the smoked bourbon old fashioned. Margs are fine, more tequila than anything else so it's just overwhelming. When I first order from a restaurant I often get simple things to see how they handle those items. I got some rice and beans and elote. The elote was just perfect with the sweetness of the charred corn, the tang of the tajin, and the creamy cotija/mayo combo. The rice and beans is where I can tell they put flavor and heart into every dish, entree or side. It was hot and full of flavor that you normally don't get with such a humble side dish. We then moved on to the tacos and continued to be SO impressed. Husband got the Cobb taco, the Thai shrimp, and the ahi poke. His favorite taco: the spicy and savory Thai shrimp. Other two were good but that was by far the standout. I got the edamame falafel and the hot Nashville tofu. My favorite taco was hands down the edamame falafel. I didn't think the Mexican-Greek fusion would work but it DID and so well!! The falafel was so flavorful and went really well with every other ingredient. The Nashville hit wasn't bad it just wasn't very hot. Nashville hot tofu wasn't very hot. Still well cooked tofu and the slaw was outstanding.
