This place is so cute! The food is very good. The food is decently priced, it's not exactly cheap. We went on a Sunday (all day happy hour (hh)). We had a jalapeño margarita ($5 hh), poutine ($3 hh, usually $8), a tuna taco, Korean beef taco, and Mongolian beef taco. The tacos range from $4-5 each. Everything was very delicious, we definitely will return when in the area, especially for happy hour. They also have BOGO taco deals on Tuesdays. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to make Friday night our restaurant hop night. We basically went to a bunch of restaurants and tried a different dish at each place. We stopped at Circo as our 3rd or 4th stop of the night, but who is keeping count, right? There were two tables when we got there and we sat at the bar, so they weren't busy. We ordered the Mongolian beef tacos but asked if we could have them in a wonton shell instead, but they said no because it would take away from the kitchen's efficient routine and create a mess for the employees.... ... ... ... ...o...k. So, we got the tacos as they come and I will say, they would have been way better in a wonton shell. read more

Usually don't go for street tacos, given my big appetite and their tendency to run small, but Circo is doing them right. Had dinner and drinks with a friend here and we both left very satisfied with our decision to eat here. The margaritas were the star of the show. Circo has margs on tap, which I thought was awesome, and a variety of salt choices for the rim of your glass. We split chips and guac which tasted fresh, but was a bit bland. I then ordered 3 tacos that all hit the spot, and were plenty filling for a dinner. The Korean one was my favorite but they were all good, you can't go wrong with any of them! read more

I give the place 5 Stars for the Tacos and service. The house Margaritas were ok, but very sweet. My wife and I had the TuesdayTaco Special...2 tacos with chips and a Margarita for $12. The chips and tacos were delicious. Then we had to pay a $1 each for a very mini sized, very small cup of salsa. That ruined the whole experience. Even two were not enough for the chips that came with tacos. Really cheapened the visit and lowered the ranking. read more

This was such a treat. These tacos were so fresh. We all tried something different and loved each of them. Chips and queso was just ok. Fill up on those tacos! Daughters loved the drinks. My husband and I visited with a large group, roughly 18 people. First I want to say, I love the atmosphere at Circo. This is a really neat place. The concept is clear and fun. Drinks are really good and some come in super cute jugs. I got to try multiple dishes and nothing disappointed. Everything tasted and looked amazing. I most definitely will be returning for more. The food is awesome! We started with some Margaritas, the Smoked Salt pairs so well. And since it's our first time we got chips and Elote Corn, Guacamole and Red Salsa each tasted great no regrets! The tacos were so good, my favorite had to be the Picnic Chicken, so different in the best way! Finishing up by trying the Mexican Poutine, even though I'm full, I'd gladly make room for this any time I'm here! Circo is delish for unique tacos and other eats. There's a good mix of spicy options and more mild tastes. The BOGO Taco Tuesday can't be beat for a deal! There are 6 item on that menu- plus the daily happy hour. The staff is chill- chris was helpful and didn't seem put out that we were sticking with the discounted eats. Holy guacamole!! Dropped by Sunday afternoon. Waitress was prompt and asked if we'd like chips. But of course! It wouldn't be a Mexican meal without them! And then... upon getting a closer look at the menu discovered they're charging EIGHT DOLLARS for chips & salsa! I kindly ask her to cancel the order and she proceeds to explain that they're made fresh... As they are at most Mexican restaurants I've eaten at - at NO charge! I also know I can make fresh chips and salsa at home for a ridiculously nominal price. Which we made the decision to do, along with very easy, homemade ribeye tacos. As we departed, I noticed the very minuscule "tacos" ($5-6 ea) that were being served to a neighboring table and was reassured we were making the right decision. read more

The place is cute and centrally located. They have a really good happy hour BOGO tacos, margaritas and old fashioneds. I would say do the old fashioned because the margaritas aren't as strong. I'm torn on this one...but I will give 4 stars because the other two in my party loved it. Vibe is awesome, love the decor and cleanliness. However the service was awful, I waited 45min for the street corn I ordered because they kept taking it to other tables for their order! My Buffalo chicken taco was skimpy. But my husbands tacos were all 3 full and my kiddos walking taco was great. Would give another shot because once I got the street corn it was good! Stopped in last night, extremely excited to try. Was not even in the slightest bit disappointed. Bourbon and Tacos, weird mix you say? I am not a bourbon drinker at all but the bourbon margarita was not overpowering and held its own as a favorable drink. I'm originally from Cincinnati and we have TONS of non-chain, unique restaurants. To say the least, Sarasota is slacking in that department. The only eh thing I experienced with the entire night, is the questioning of my ID, which is totally valid. I still have my Ohio ID but I am almost 27 so it's always a little frustrating. However, it's completely reasonable so that didn't take any stars away for me. Just a heads up for any traveling people. I doubt it will be an issue as all though. Onward to the food: I ordered the chicken&biscuit, the Cubano, queso de la casa and a strawberry jam margarita. ALL WERE BEYOND DELISH. The chicken&biscuit was a little messy, sticky and overall juicy and fantastic. Definitely recommend keeping it in the little foil it comes wrapped in, I opted for using utensils. Also, I believe the both of my tacos listed dijonnaise. I typically don't like mustard/dijonnaise. I'm not even sure they actually had any on them. Not a strong flavor thankfully and I LOVED IT. The queso de la casa... extremely desirable, flavorful. The chips are definitely fresh. Threw me off that they come in a paper-bag (like how chipotle does theirs). Not sure if we are supposed to keep them in the bag or not. I think this is just a clever plating idea. Strawberry Jam Margarita was perfect as well. Fairly strong, tasty and not overly sweet. To top it off, they had the 90s music pop quiz card game at the table (not sure if purposely or if the people who sat there previously maybe left it??) but I will say I was a happy camper with that. Games while waiting for your food. I wonder if they have different ones at each table. I think that's a fantastic idea!! It made the experience just that much better. I will say that I was a bit confused by the couch and seating arrangement in the front. I don't know if they expect people to come for just drinks (totally would do that!!). I wonder if they will get to be so busy that they had hoped for more tables or they'll just play it out and see how it works for now. Either way, definitely will be a regular here. My new favorite spot for tacos!!! Thank you so much for bringing this amazing concept. Cannot wait to come back and try a few more things. read more

Bourbon and tacos. Written about through the ages as inseparable twins. We all know when we are itching for some authentic Mexican street food that a good barrel-aged, smokey hit of bourbon is just the thing to pair with some spicy meat, citric veggies and some salty cheese. Okay wait, no. No one ever asked for that. But then again, Circos isn't an authentic taco place. And that's FINE. I would say that what Circos really is is a very creative sandwich joint that uses flour tortillas as the delivery mechanism. There is nothing else "taco" about what they do. They feature pickles on EVERYTHING. And it's good. the Nashville Hot - a vegetarian take on the spicy chicken sandwich (again: it's a flour tortilla) is really mind blowing. It is because they take all of the best aspects of a Nashville Hot and turn it into a "taco." And they did it with Tofu. All of the other "tacos" offer comforting facsimiles for sandwiches. Pulled pork. Brisket. But they are sandwiches in taco form. I didn't try the bourbon because it was noontime on a Wednesday and please people - I have to work this afternoon. One additional point - the service is epic. I came here with a colleague from out of town and our waitress couldn't have been more helpful from helping us navigate the menu to making sure our table didn't wobble. Most don't think bourbon and tacos would pair together, but Circo is on to something! They have a Bourbon Margarita that is fresh and delicious. We've been in a few times and every time we are so impressed with the food and drinks! Nick and Tim behind the bar give amazing service and really know how to keep their guests entertained. We ordered the guacamole and chips to start. The guac was mild but great! My hubby likes some spice so they chopped up some jalapeño and added it to half so he had exactly what he wants! We are slowly making it through the menu, but some stand outs would be the Mongolian beef taco, has a sweet Smokey peppery flavor I love,the Thai Shrimp taco spicy but packed with other flavors and topped with fresh mango salsa, and don't forget the Tots with Local Egg, HOLY MOLY! with goat cheese and cubed bacon, this is something you cannot miss on their menu! After speaking with the manager I found out that everything is made in house, the chips, guac, salsas, quesos, pickling their own peppers and onions, and the flavor tells all! And we haven't even talked about the decor and atmosphere they have created, definitely a place where you could hang for hours and truly have a fun time! Being one of SARASOTA'S best Lyft drivers, I had the fortunate pleasure of picking up Krista to get her to work. Upon talking I found out that she was a server at this great new place downtown. She became very excited and animated in describing the concept, atmosphere and the menu. I told her my wife and I were always looking for the newest places downtown and that we would definitely stop in. EVERYTHING Krista said was spot on. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming. The floor plan was completely open. The place was well attended. The staff was very accommodating and we even asked for Krista to be our server. She was excellent and very descriptive in her suggestions from our drink selections as well as our food. She even talked up the company and also mentioned other establishments in town owned by the Circo Taco Bourbon Joint owners. For all you bourbon lovers, I highly recommend the Bourbon Renewal as well as the Toasted Old Fashion. Excellent ! We tried 4 different tacos with my favorite being the Thai Taco. Well... high hopes, low results. It's new so the honeymoon phase isn't over, which accounts for the crowd. It's very noisy because it's just a square box with a high roof. The food was a total miss for us. The Salsa Rojo was uninspired and had the consistency of baby food. Not a true salsa. The wife's guacamole was also uninspired and short on typical guac ingredients. Wife ordered Mongolian tacos and I went for Angus beef. Don't know what my wife's meat was, but there was nothing Mongolian about it. My "Angus" beef was heavily stewed and not fresh shaved. It had the consistency of pulled pork. The highlight of the meal waa my wife's Mexican Street Corn. It was delicious. But it couldn't come close to saving the meal. 1 and done for us. read more

I have ordered takeout tacos twice when I was going shopping at Whole Foods next door. Circo had my food ready on time and the choices were very tasty--not the usual Mexican tacos, but little bites of unusual and tasty ingredients (maybe 10 different choices of tacos?). You order by the taco so you can order as many as you want and there are side dishes, also. The hostess/waitstaff was very helpful since I don't like hot sauce and the ingredients were explained to me. The tacos come in a nice container that keeps them all from mixing together. There is a stand out front with menus so you can avoid going inside and there are umbrellas, tables and chairs for your wait. read more

Tried this on a whim, and I am pleasantly surprised. If you're looking for a quiet place to sit and eat, this probably wouldn't be the place. However, for a chill evening this is the place to go. The staff is WONDERFUL and food came out very quickly. They really make sure you're satisfied with your meal. Tacos are phenomenal (my favorite of the evening was the korean pork) as well as the fresh chips a queso. They have board games and flexible seating as well as a weekly special that changes every Tuesday. We have been waiting for a long time for this place to open up and we were not disappointed! The bartenders and servers were amazing. The tacos were off the chain and it's a really cool looking spot. Oh, and the Bourbon and Mezcal selection is amaaaazzzzing! Some of my favorites included the queso fundido, the chicken and biscuit Taco, the Mongolian beef taco, the ahi poke taco and the Falafel taco! And the tater tots with poached egg were insane. Stopped by for dinner and drinks one night a couple of weeks ago and I was thoroughly impressed! The tacos were amazing, the margarita was delicious and not too sweet (hard to come by), and I loved the tortilla chips! I will say the staff seemed a little frenzied/unorganized, but I'm assuming that's because they're newly opened and still working out the kinks. Been a few times, both with friends and without. It's been a great experience each time. A nice place to hang for awhile with friends and a great place to have a quick lunch break. While I haven't tried everything on the menu yet, everything I have tried has been very yummy. My favorite item to order is the walking taco. Everything is priced well as well. There is a good amount of choices and a nice spice range whether spicy is your thing, or not. There are alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks that are amazing. I attended a bourbon dinner tasting at Circo, and it was an amazing experience! The atmosphere was friendly, and we were welcomed with a complimentary drink. Throughout the event, we had the opportunity to taste four different bourbons and enjoy three different tacos. I have been coming here for the past month and eating at least 2 times a week usually Tuesday or Wednesday when they have BOGO TACOS and all of them are unique. My favorite 2 are the Mongolian and Korean but really all the food is great and service is excellent. Tonight the bartender was Wells and he was very nice and informative about what to eat!!! Had their Birra Beef and Mongolian beef tacos- interesting in a great way. Good beer and bourbon selection, and have to say again great service- attentive without being too much. Highly recommend the guacamole with goat cheese. It's a light and refreshing dish. The magnolia taco has a nice sweet savory taste and the Cuban taco was chefs kiss. You can't go wrong with the birria tacos which they were nice enough to alter my dish without cilantro which I appreciated. We sat at the bar and ordered the smoked meat sampler,and the hand made pulled pork egg rolls. All I had to say is! OMG! Hands down the best smoked meat in this Universe.
