10/12/24 Picking up "Too Good to Go" donuts
    Jennifer W.

10/12/24 Picking up "Too Good to Go" donuts Passed by this donut shop mor than I could count & today I am taking advantage of the Too Good to go App. It definitely needs a little more love for upkeep, my first thought, "It's seen better days" as soon as I've seen the cracked and torn seats from the dining area and the worn paint and signage. The ladies at the counter have limited English & not as warm & fuzzy as I would like, not too welcoming or friendly. Hopefully the donuts will speak for themselves. There's plenty of free parking for a donut shop but looks a little sketchy,

The Circus Donuts has been in the South Bay for quite some time and I've passed by their location throughout the years. It was only recently though that I got to check this place out! I got a dozen donuts with a good mix of their donut offerings. Among the offerings I got to try out was their buttermilk, glazed, chocolate nut and strawberry glazed. Overall the donuts were good and went well with coffee. My fave donuts from here are their buttermilk. Crisp and sweet; they make for a great donut treat! Overall The Circus Donuts is pretty solid with good selection and decent prices.

These are the worst donuts I've ever had. The taste was not as sweet and buttery like most other donut shops. They were stale, dense and appeared to be old. I wish I noticed the sweaty and dried up glaze before leaving the shop because I would've requested a refund.

It's probably going to meet your expectations - these are definitely not the best donuts. It's pretty on par with what I expected. They aren't the best but I've definitely had worse donuts.

I have a hard time passing up a donut place, especially an independent donut shop. I was there about 9:00 PM and the donuts looked like they'd seen the best part of the day already. The donuts are $1.25 by the way. The price is not listed on the wall menu. I opted instead for a strawberry banana smoothie ($4.75). It wasn't very flavorful, but it was OK. It's a really clean donut shop. There are places to sit near the entrance and they have a TV in there as well. There's ample parking right there in the lot. Super easy. I'll have to try their donuts sometime when I'm back in the area.

Customer service was extremely great. The lady was so nice, she also threw me extra doughnuts because they had to get rid of it. I don't know if it's old, but it tasted great. Did not taste old at all. My favorite would be the classic and their apple fritter. I was very surprised. I love a good apple fritter and maple donuts are also great. I always leave a cash tip. The day I came there was a homeless woman indoors screaming a bunch of stuff and causing a commotion and the lady kindly asked her to leave. She obviously didn't leave and there were others waiting so I got my donuts and left. Didn't know what happened afterwards. I felt bad for her so I gave her extra cash. I support this business because they have fine donuts and a variety of others for a stellar price plus nice customer service.

Softest, fluffiest chocolate donut ever! (~90¢)

Come early for the best selection of donuts and get them while they're still warm :) The exterior and interior of the shop may be a bit shabby, but the donuts here are INCREDIBLE. Staff is kind and patiently waits nearby while customers decide their orders. Most of the treats individually range from $0.90 to $2. My selection of a huge glazed twist bar and chocolate yeast donut totaled to be ~$2. I was surprised by how fluffy, soft, and delicious the yeast donuts are. These are some of the best donuts I've had in all of California by far. The glaze isn't overly sweet. The pillowy texture of each bite is oh so satisfying. A lovely morning treat! I'd recommend getting donuts to-go rather than sitting-and-dining. There are only a handful of small tables inside.

BLT on croissant w/part of my breast cancer awareness tie

First time here and did not order a donut. I wanted a breakfast type sandwich so went with a BLT on a croissant. The sandwich was pretty good but my issue is that all the bacon was put in the center (see picture) so the first bite was lettuce/tomato so was second bite. The third bite was tough because I had to bite through all the bacon. I would suggest that they spread the bacon throughout the bread.

They were okay. But the building looks pretty runned down. They have the best ham & cheese. Their sprinkle donuts are pretty good to.

The donuts are not all that great. The part that I didn't like is the lady at the counter never put napkins in my donut bag.

During my freebies birthday run yesterday, I was planning on going to Old Ferry Donut after picking up a boba next door, only to find the shop closed. \(`0´)/ Known for unique flavors & vibrant retro-pop 70s branding (cute hamster mascot with bold orange & brilliant blue colors; it's featured on 2-/4-donut boxes), this Korean-inspired premium donut shop originated in Seoul a decade ago before expanding to several S. CA locations, opening in Torrance a couple of years ago. OFD's donuts are popular for its rich creams & chewy dough; Butter Pistachio & Crème Brûlée are just 2 of their signature flavors. I was going through a donut phase when I initially stopped by Old Ferry Donut. Large windows let lots of light in, & once you step across the threshold, you're hit with a strong K-pop vibe & loud music. They even had a collab with SEVENTEEN last fall during their tour with 2 flavors: Marble Strawberry & Blue Coconut! Unlike the regular mom & pop's or commercialized donut shops, they don't offer a discounted 1/2 or full dozen box. After asking what's their most popular picks, I chose Butter Pistachio & Crème Brûlée, & added Lemon Poppyseed & Raspberry Ring for myself, Cookies & Cream & Boston Cream for the kiddos. Service was alright... I didn't need a sales pitch, but would like some info on the donuts to make an informed decision since they're at a premium price even though they're not "freshly made" (every hour or less) like SD&C just down the street. The Butter Pistachio is a major hit... fluffy & light, a slightly chewy yeasty donut stuffed with a mildly sweet whipped pistachio cream filling & topped with a salty-sweet buttery streusel... how can you not be addicted? And totally worth it! Crème Brûlée is also popular for its delicate, crackly caramelized sugar crust & airy brioche dough that's filled with a rich vanilla custard. Good flavor, but maybe on the older side? Since it's been sitting for awhile, it lost that fresh fluffy texture & was kinda dry. I really liked the Lemon Poppyseed; it's right up there with Butter Pistachio. The lemon glaze is just the right amount of sweet & tart, & the donut was fresh & fluffy! The Raspberry Ring is pretty good, matching that sweet & tart of Lemon Poppyseed, but I like the citrus zing of the latter more. What's different is the former has a raspberry jam filling in addition to a glaze & the latter is just a yeast donut with fruity glaze. Kids didn't say much about Cookies & Cream & Boston Cream... I figure you can't go wrong with these flavors. The filling might have been a bit much as I saw the cream oozing out of the donut & onto my LO's face & shirt. His sister was slightly better at containing the custard blob. LOL With premium prices, It's debatable if Old Ferry's donuts are worth it... quality, freshness, & size. Hmmm... I like them & their creative flavors, but they're a tad too sweet & not as "fresh" in comparison to SD&C. Sad to see Old Ferry Donut permanently gone from the South Bay, but they still have locations in San Gabriel & Buena Park if you're willing to take a drive. Recommended: Boston Cream $3.95 Butter Pistachio $4.95 Cookies & Cream $3.95 Crème Brûlée $4.95 Lemon Poppyseed $3.95 Raspberry Ring $3.95

Sidecar might change your mind about cake donuts…read more I'm usually a raised-donut person, but these are different. Fresh, they eat more like a pastry--super moist, rich without being heavy, and none of that dry crumble. Chocolate (Valrhona) is the one--deep, smooth, perfectly tender. The vegan strawberry matcha is a sleeper hit--the strawberry glaze smells like a field of ripe berries and actually makes you pause before the first bite, with the matcha keeping it grounded. They only had two raised that day, but both delivered. Vanilla was soft and airy, and the huckleberry had that bright tart-sweet glaze with zero fake flavor. Only note: don't over-order. Next day = noticeably more crumbly. Go, pick a few, eat them fresh. Clean plate club.

Over the years I've had their Huckleberry, Butter & Salt, Strawberry Buttermilk donuts from the regular menu. I've got a personal soft spot for the Huckebwrey & Saigon Cinnamon Crumb donuts (when available). Are the donuts pricy? Yes, but only because the flavor profiles are unique compared to standard shops open 24/7. Beverage wise, I've only had tried their chai and matcha lattes. Nothing negatively notable nor special, but they don't taste terrible. I personally wouldn't go out of my way to try the drinks since the cups are small for the amount of $ you pay. Service is quick here since the shop is so small and tends to fill up. The employees are great about answering customer questions to help guide patrons on what to purchase.

They get your order incorrect 80% of the time {in my experience} and on top of not being able to get your correct order, you are charged fees and delivery. And for this reason, restaurants should be extra careful). I was given a plain ham and cheese croissant, not Jalepeño, which I personally don't care for. Extremely disappointing considering how much I love this item. To add insult to injury, the pastry I received implies, in my opinion, that the employee who made it does not care about their job--The croissant had two tiny, bunched up and hard pieces of ham, just on one side of the croissant, and no cheese inside. It was extremely bland, not what I ordered, and absolutely not worth any amount of money. I threw it away after one bite. I will be purchasing from Randy's munch less often because after this experience, I no longer trust their standards and I won't always have the opportunity to quality check my order. It has that perfect texture where it almost melts in your mouth with every bite, without ever feeling too heavy or overpowering. Pair it with a fresh coffee in the morning and it's hard to beat. I've noticed some people complaining about the credit card processing fee, but personally, I think supporting small businesses means understanding the realities of running one. Places like this aren't giant chains with massive corporate margins, they're LOCAL spots that have been serving the community for years and doing it well. If a small processing fee helps them continue making great food, and staying afloat in an increasingly expensive market, that feels like a fair trade-off to me. I'd much rather support a family-run shop like this than see places with real character disappear. If you don't like the fee, you can simply pay with cash next time.
