Positive: The staff is indeed friendly and the environment is nice. The cleaning procedure is one of the best and most complete so far. Negative: Unfortunately, the other reviews are mostly correct in the sense they want to replace every filling that is in your mouth, even when everything is fine. It got only two starts because of this practice of trying to sell you procedures that not only you don't need but are also not recommended. Remember that replacing a filing wear down a healthy portion of your tooth so you just do that when you really have to. read more

There are not enough superlatives to describe my experience with CITIDental Boston. I have only received expert and exceptional service in the 3+ plus years I have been a patient. I chose to go to CITIDental because of the convenience of the location (approx. 5 mins from my office) but so happy that I found this place. After years of neglecting my dental health, Dr. Krista Stolch has restored and improved my dental health but also my confidence. When I met Dr. Stolch she asked me what my #1 concern was and I stated that I wanted a straightened smile. Now, I am nearly complete with an Invisalign treatment she has administered for the past year. We all want quick solutions but if you neglect your dental health for years, there are no quick solutions to the problems accumulated. I needed several procedures in order get to the stage to begin Invisalign. I was treated for everything from cavities to a bone graft. You name it, I've had it done. There were times in the beginning of my treatments with Dr. Stolch in which I wanted to quit but she and her staff assured me that the process was the right one and I have seen the results. The staff of CITIDental are professional, courteous, responsive and caring. I never imagined that I would look forward to going to the dentist and I can honestly say that I do. That matters greatly, especially given that I have seen Dr. Stolch at least once a month for over the last year. I've been going to CitiDental on Court Street for 6 years and am extremely satisfied with their service. The front desk is welcoming and the hygienist I see has a great balance of professionalism mixed with friendliness. They have also worked with me throughout periods when I had dental insurance and when I didn't have dental insurance to identify the best plan personalized to my situation. Love the atmosphere, I didn't feel like I was in a Dental Office! The ladies in the front desk have great customer service, are polite and accommodating. The "Patient Greeter" is well mannered and comforting to the more anxious patients. The Doctor and her Assistant were caring, patient and gentile. They showed me pictures and explained everything I needed to do to better care for my teeth and over all oral hygiene. Did I mention they were patient? The prices are fair and honest. This review is for Dr. Mulyar, or "Dr. Fresh" as she likes to call herself. Perhaps if she hadn't been so busy instagramming herself DURING my procedure, she wouldn't have screwed up. I went in for a crown last week and my regular dentist there had left the practice, so they sprung this new dentist on me. My previous dentist there was great, (Dr. Spivak) and I'd broken a molar. Anyhow, the crown took almost 5 HOURS, sitting in the chair with my mouth pried open while she 3-D printed a tooth, which she then broke and had to do it all over again. I wasn't even given an option for a temporary. Upon leaving, no aftercare instructions were given, and my tooth HURT. And continued to hurt. I was unable to chew or use the tooth. I went in a few days later so it could be "fixed" which only made the tooth worse. I'm certain that the crown has been ground down too far. It's now been 2 weeks and I've been in excruciating pain because of this dentist's shoddy and careless work and I refuse to go back there. I have an appointment with another dentist tomorrow in which I'll likely have to pay another arm and a leg to have my tooth actually fixed. Wish me luck, y'all and don't go to this practice if you don't like paying thousands of dollars to get your teeth effed up by completely unprofessional people. They do have a dog there, though. The experience starts with his professional office staff as they try to accommodate my busy schedule. I'm typically a read only yelp user, but I was pretty nervous about starting with a new dentist so I'm pretty psyched to have gotten it right. I was able to make an appointment quickly and easily (submitted a request on their site Sunday night, was in the chair Monday afternoon). They took the time to educate me, were friendly, and seemed to use a lot of technology to take images and assessments of my teeth. I'll definitely be returning. read more

I just had a marathon session with Dr. Olga Spivak a few days ago, and overall am really satisfied with my experience. I picked the first office I could get an appointment with because I had a cavity I had neglected. I went in knowing I needed one cavity filled, thanks to an examination I had about two months prior at a dental office in my home state. After thorough x-rays though, Dr. Spivak showed me more (unsurprising) cavities that needed treatment, as well as weak spots in my molars that were caused by very old silver fillings, and which would need crowns. I don't consider this a case of over-treatment, because I could see the shadows myself on all the x-rays, as well as the small fractures from my old fillings. I also could have refused any or all of the treatments if I had wanted to. Instead, we decided to get everything out of the way since I wanted to have as few sessions as possible, so I had three fillings and a crown done at once. Not anyone's idea of a fun day, but everyone involved was so kind and made me as comfortable as possible. I only felt pain once or twice, and when that happened they immediately stopped what they were doing to check in with me. They explained everything as needed throughout the procedure and kept me posted about progress. And they also took before and after photos so I could see the comparison. The crown totally matched my teeth and the fillings looks unnoticeable. I was sore and tender for the rest of the day, but that's to be expected and I haven't had any other pain or discomfort. I did pay for the procedure that same day after we were all finished, which my father is concerned about--I personally have no idea if that's normal or not, since this was the first dental appointment I booked for myself. I certainly didn't feel hoodwinked though. All in all, I was really happy with the staff and the results, and will definitely recommend this place to my boyfriend and friends. read more

I've been coming here for over a year now and the team at citidental are wonderful. I've been to many dental practices around the Boston area. With that said, they are the most thorough with their cleanings and examinations. Trisha is wonderful. She does most of my cleanings and explains everything to me. Such a shame. Dr. Hoang is lovely and clearly knowledgable but her staff leaves A LOT to be desired. to let a patient leave twice and have a temporary crown pop out within hours and then become very rude when expressing upset at the situation is not only unacceptable and unprofessional it's downright mean. In speaking with another dentist I also find that I was being GROSSLY overcharged to be treated so poorly. Wish I could give them no stars. Dr. Hoang you should seriously re-think your front desk staff. Not only were they rude on more than one occasion to me I have heard similar beahvior with other patients. Again, such a shame. UPDATE: Based on the response below, one would think it was my fault that twice work was not done satisfactorily. if Citidental is proud of letting a patient walk out the door and twice have a crown pop off then that's on them. According to my insurance company (who will be contacting Citidental about overcharging and fraudulently charging up front for services yet to be provided) I was overcharged. Was told I needed four fillings, a root canal, and 2 deep cleanings every 3 months totaling close to $6000. It didn't seem right so I got a second opinion and turns out I only needed 2 fillings. Don't go here unless if you want to be ripped off. read more

If I could rate this -100 I would. I waited 6 months to write this review after I had a second opinion from another dentist and I can confidently say that my visit to CitiDental was the worst experience of my life. They told me I had 5 mm pockets so that they could legally perform the deep scaling treatment with Novocaine to only ONE side of my mouth. I'm 24 years old and never once had Novocaine for a cleaning. Furthermore, they told me I have periodontal disease. What 24 year old American who takes care of their teeth has periodontal disease? I had a dentist appointment yesterday at Hirshberg Dental and it was a very relieving to hear from a dentistry found in 1948 that I do not have periodontal disease, nor do I need numerous root canals that CitiDental was recommending. Apparently, CitiDental was bought out two years ago, which is not reassuring to me. Lastly, it took serious effort to get my x-rays from CitiDental. I had to call at least six times before they sent it over to the new dentist. I spent ungodly amounts of money at CitiDental after one visit. I would never recommend CitiDental to anyone. read more

Former patient of Dr. Padivi. Had continued problems with crown he put in, fillings were decent. Wish I knew then, would not have gone in the first place, even with new owners. Dr. Badiwi checked out the crown and said placement was not done right, offered to re-do it since patient of former doctor. But also insisted the tooth behind needed a crown! So I would have paid either way! He's even more aggressive than other doctor, does not do much in way of saving tooth. Even though he said didn't have to pay when I left office I get an insurance claim for the evaluative services 2 weeks later. Does not let you know all the costs. Just stay away from Citidental! I recently went to have my dental check up this past week, and it was a really positive experience for me. Totally outstanding. Needed a filling and crown. My insurance was going to run out and would have a lapse of one month before new insurance kicked in. They saw me immediately and took care of everything in a very efficient and caring way. Dental appointments are hardly a load of fun, but these folks made it a good as possible. On April 18th 2016 I made a complaint to the owner Dr. Badawi regarding my last few visits to his office, specifically with Dr. Hoang. Today, May 5th 2016, 18 days later, I still have not received an answer back from his office after multiple requests. I'm making public my complaint with the sole purpose of raising awareness about medical malpractice, unethical medical behavior and company greed. If you are reading this and you feel that you have been in a similar situation and do not know what to do a good starting point could be filing a detailed complaint with the Massachusetts Dental Society (massdental.org) or the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (mass.gov). Thank you for reaching out this afternoon regarding my concern. A few weeks ago I visited your office and had, among other things, a crown done with Dr. Hoang. After that, the most important, recurrent issue was the quality of my bite and the impact on the nerve and adjacent teeth. During that first session I went through the regular procedure to verify that I had no occlusion issues. At that time, I communicated to the assistance that I could feel some discomfort but she replied that that was due to anesthesia still present. After a few days, convinced that this was a clear issue of precision and adjustment, I set up an appointment to have the crown looked at. During this visit, Dr. Hoang attempted to fix this issue by following the conventional procedure of the blue paper that, after what I experienced was certainly not being an accurate tool. I left your office, for the second time, with my bite off and in pain, hoping that a few days could fix it according to what she explained. This did not prove to be enough and still a new appointment was needed. Basically, during this third session, there was no variation, still the same useless blue paper and the same frustration on my side! I know there can be complications during any medical procedure but what really baffles me is how this complication was approached. During each of these sessions she was visibly irritated and frustrated. She was very elusive and constantly avoiding providing answers to my questions every time I tried to understand the nature of this issue. Not a single time did she appear to be concerned or willing to take ownership. The question that has been lingering in my mind ever since all this nightmare started is: Why would she let me go home after so many failed attempts with no clear improvement? Any patient being where I am right now could only think of two possible reasons when trying to explain this: she is either not qualified to do this job or she's doing this on purpose to find another possible way to obtain still more money from me. This is extremely scary! During my most recent visit for my scheduled cleaning I communicated my intention to have the above mentioned third session to attempt to fix this issue. Only after my request, Constance Perry, nicely enough, got a hold of Dr. Hoang who came upstairs for this purpose. I was really confused because, instead, she suddenly started talking about the cleaning and the status of my gums and teeth in general. When she was done after a few minutes of talking from my back, she just said good bye and attempted to leave. Then I had to bring up my concern with an unbelievable feeling of perplexity while having to interrupt her attempting to leave. Today, after several requests to get a written copy of the charges during that visit I'm seeing that this "accidental encounter" was charged to my insurance as a "comprehensive" oral evaluation. This is extremely disrespectful and unprofessional! I still can't understand how this went from my request to have the crown looked at to an official "comprehensive" evaluation where no relevant or meaningful evaluation was provided whatsoever! What is more, an arbitrary X-rays session took place downstairs that I was told would be to try to understand what was going on with the crown. Why should I be charged for attempting to fix an error that I did not commit? The perspective that I am a patient seeking for help has been totally lost in this story. There's no compassion or empathy whatsoever. Suddenly it's easy to forget that a slice of her paycheck is coming from my pocket! This is just not a favor she's doing to a random person. I feel like all the elemental rights as a consumer and as a patient have been atrociously violated. Now, after some extensive research about this subject, numerous patient across the country have experienced exactly what I have and it all seems to point to medical malpractice from the beginning of the procedure. No one likes going to the dentist, but Citidental Boston makes the experience as pleasant as possible. I came here for my twice annual cleaning and again for a composite filling. I have never had such a thorough cleaning in my life; they even checked my neck and jawline. When they took the bitewing xrays they took about 20 pictures; all other dentists I have been to take no more than 5-10. They aren't the most comfortable but I would rather be safe than sorry and not miss anything! I did feel as though they told me I needed A LOT of work done after the visit which seemed suspicious because I never had anyone else tell me I needed these things done, but not all of it was urgent or totally necessary and they didn't push me on it. The filling was super quick and easy. They offered Bose headphones during the drilling to listen to music and drown out the noise which I thought was awesome (didn't help much but it's the thought that counts!). Staff is very friendly and they even have a dog patient greeter that just hangs around and looks cute all the time (I think it is hypoallergenic). Super easy to confirm appointments via e-mail. Free water and coffee and an Ipad to play with in the waiting room. One critique is that their cancellation policy is very strict; 3 days in advance or a $75 charge; however, they do make you VERY aware of this policy so that seems fair. The prices for the procedures I got seem average based on online cost estimators I used for the Boston area. Overall very happy with my new dentist! read more

This clinic had an advertisement offering free consultations for people interested in "Six Month Smile" orthodontic treatment. I called the clinic to inquire about the cost of the treatment, as I intended to pay out-of-pocket given that I don't have dental insurance. The phone receptionist quoted a price that I could afford, so I scheduled a consultation to find out if I was a suitable candidate for the procedure. When I arrived at the office, however, I was treated with contempt by the receptionist and the orthodontist. First, the receptionist insisted that CITIDental didn't offer free consultations, and I was compelled to direct her to the Internet ad that proved otherwise. Next, she had me fill out a questionnaire concerning insurance info, etc. She didn't react kindly when I told her I would pay for this treatment out of pocket. After that, I met with the orthodontist, Dr. Chau Hoang, who acted coldly and did only the most cursory examination. At the end of the exam, I tried to ask a couple of questions, but -- to my shock -- Dr. Hoang turned her back on me and walked away as I was speaking to her.
