Existing pond liner with duct tape after discovering it was leaking water and before they replaced the liner

Do not use this company for existing outdoor ponds/fountain. They did a good job on the rest of my landscape work, but the workmanship on my pond/fountain was less than substandard for what they charged me. I had an existing pond/fountain that needed to be restored so that it could run properly again. Before I even hired Citiscapes, they came out and looked at my property. I showed them my pond/fountain which included a pond liner that had some tears in it, and I specifically asked them if they could restore my pond so that it was running again and they said yes. The salesperson told me that they would "seal" the pond, which I had no idea what that meant at the time. I was given a quote that included labor to pressure wash the pond/fountain (part of the entire landscape demolition cost) and a separate charge of $1,350 to "seal interior of fountain." When they came to "seal" the pond/fountain, rather than replacing the existing torn liner which I had mentioned might need to be done before I hired them, they duct taped it and proceeded to use spray cans of sealant (about 4-5 spray cans) - all for $1,350!!!! They told me that my pump and filter did not work (although I don't know how they knew that when they never filled the pond up with water to test them) and that once I got new ones, they would come back out to install them and finish the rest of the work on the pond. But they asked for my final payment, promising me they would be back to finish the job. I gave them my final payment and quickly got a new pump and filter and contacted them to schedule them to come back out. After giving them my final payment, that's when the communication became difficult. I tried to be patient given the holidays, but it took them several weeks of me constantly texting and/or calling to get them to come back out to finish the job. We had several days of rain during the time I waited for them send someone out and the rainwater sat stagnant in the pond. Several weeks later, after constantly calling them, they sent someone out to install the new pump and filter and finish putting rocks (from my property) around the pond. After the new pump and filter were installed, we filled up the pond and even though the water was disgusting because it sat stagnant for so long, it was at least running. The next morning, I discovered that the water leaked out of the pond overnight. Not surprisingly, the duct tape they used on the existing liner was a joke! Had they filled the pond up to tested it for any leaks after they "sealed" it the first time, they would've been aware of this right away. I called them again to tell them the pond leaked. Again, it took a while to get someone to come out to look at the pond. When they did finally come back out, they agreed to replace the pond liner with a new one. Since they did not properly restore the pond and did not get anyone out there right away to finish the pond, the bottom of my pond/fountain looked the same way it was before they started working on the pond. The pond was filled with dirty water and debris which developed over the weeks it took them to come back out to finish the work. Additionally, the pond has a water line that needed to be repaired but when I asked them about this, I was then told that they didn't know how to or did not feel comfortable repairing it on an existing pond/fountain. Something that they should've told me before I hired them. If I had been told from the beginning that they could not properly restore my pond/fountain including all plumbing to the pond, then I would've never hired them and I certainly would have never agreed to pay them $1,350 to use duct tape and roughly 4 spray cans to "seal" my pond. Even after finally replacing the pond liner, they didn't even offer to clean the pond again after I had to wait several weeks for them to come back and finish the work. The final picture shows what my pond looked like after they finally replaced the liner on the last day they were on my property.

Post they put up which keeps coming off.

Do NOT USE this company for outdoor lighting. We needed string lights for our backyard. We spent almost $1000 & they did an amateur job. They placed posts that are about 5'' feet tall which has our lights hanging where you need to lower your head every time you walk across the yard! Then the lights fall off the posts! Took me months to get them to come back & fix it. A couple months later they fell again. When you first contact them they will call you relentlessly!! But they don't answer your calls to fix their mistake. FIND ANOTHER COMPANY, DONT waste your money!!!

Citiscapes is the ultimate landscape company in AZ. From the very beginning I knew this was going to be a great experience. Kendall, Jeremy and Victor were nothing short of spectacular. Extremely accommodating when I wanted to add to my backyard and front yard. What a Joy!! Thank you Citiscapes.

Our back yard looks great. This is a good company to use, they are very organized and have good prices. They got us in early too and were finished in 3 business days

When we bought our first house last winter, the backyard was in disaray. The ground was uneven, the rock was old leaving patches of open dirt, and the eye sore of what was left of an old fountain remained an twisted mound of concrete, plaster and small boulders hunched in the corner. We knew we needed some help to transform our backyard into a safe and usable space for us, and our dog, to enjoy. The Citiscapes owner, Kendal, took time to come out for a consult and was very knowledgeable, patiently walking us through several options which were within our budget. Once we landed on a decision the landscaping was scheduled in a timely manner. Crew leader Victor lead a small crew of workers under superintendent Jeremy's supervision- and our yard was completely transformed in just two days time. What was left of the old yard was all hauled out, the ground leveled for appropriate drainage, new irrigation installed, new rock laid, baby bushes planted, etc. etc.. Its been approx. three months since Citiscapes completed their top notch work, and the plants are now thriving. We love spending time in our beautiful backyard; and our pup has the space he needs to run and play. We couldn't recommend Citiscapes any higher!

Kendall was fast to respond to our inquiry about building a new retaining wall and easy to communicate with. The price was higher than some of the others we got, but not unreasonable. Overall the retaining wall looks nice and they did a good job cleaning up after the job. On the downside, the workers showed up late every day, left without telling us, the job took a day longer than expected, the travertine tile was not the correct color (or close to it), and no one checked in at the end to provide instructions for how long the curing process takes despite me having reached out.

Kendall and his team have been outstanding. From the initial consultation, project start and finish, they have been professional, communicative and reliable. Highly recommended.

Ben & Jerry, we love our backyard

The team at Citiscapes, were great. They understood the scope of work and completed it on time without a hitch. We wanted to add onto the back of our pool a grass area around pool for our dogs to be able to run all around the pool chasing each other and yes, more exercise for them. When I had the pool 2022 installed it took our past pool company 15 months to complete, this year they went bankrupt, and we no longer have a warrantee. I will be calling Citiscapes for our next pool installation.

Kendall was quick to respond to my inquiry and come by to provide a quote. He was knowledgeable and didn't attempt to upsell me. The price seemed fair so I moved forward with the project with his company. However, they were not very clear with scheduling and I received confusing dates from multiple sources. They rescheduled and then weren't clear when they would return. Once the work was completed, they did a poor job- the tree stump wasn't ground down all the way, the crab grass was trimmed, not removed, and there was no weed barrier below the rock they installed, which was discussed at the time of the quote. It's also just basic practice when installing rock. When I complained about the job, Kendall was apologetic and quick to make it right. The crew came back to fix these issues- again, the scheduling was confusing- but they did eventually make it back out. They essentially had to do the job twice because it wasn't done well the first time. Overall I'm satisfied with the end result and the price, but as my first experience with a landscaping company I can say I'm not impressed. I applaud Kendall for making sure I was happy with the work, but all the other issues mean it's unlikely I'll hire them again.

Very disappointed in my experience with Citiscapes. I hired Citiscapes for landscaping to my front yard - to kill the grass, add a weed barrier, and lay down rock. Citiscapes did not kill the grass or add a weed barrier (as discussed and paid for). As a result, my front yard has never looked worse! I am very disappointed in my experience with Kendall, the owner of Citiscapes.

Quick got the job done my patio looks great and only took a half day to install love the finished product they responded right away

    Before:

Kendall was very knowledgeable and professional both with his vision of my yard and actual outcome; I couldn't be happier. I will definitely be using citiscapes again for further projects. The first one was the removal of two trees in the front that were more of a nuisance than anything. While I was at work, they went to work on those trees. When I arrived home, I was speechless; I didn't even recognize my own home. Thanks again, Kendall, we'll be in touch soon.

The drip system was not tested after installing. When it was turned on there was too much pressure. Woke up to a flooded yard.

When final payment was made, Kendall caught a $100 math error on my part, which speaks to he and Citiscapes integrity.

They showed up when they said they would, did what they said they were going to do, communicated with us constantly, and most importantly, finished the project on time. Anyone who has done a major construction project in the Valley knows how rare that can be. Communication was top-notch throughout the entire project. They responded quickly whenever we had a question, request, or change and made managing such a large project remotely much easier than we expected. Camelback Hardscapes is not the cheapest option, but after going through a project of this size with them, they are absolutely worth every penny. The quality, reliability, communication, and execution set them apart. They are truly one-of-a-kind and the only company we would want to go back to for future outdoor projects. My concern was that I felt the result was very different from what I hoped. I was disappointed. I hoped to have one of the nicest properties in the community, and instead I felt a little embarrassed. This is my fault, but I was out of the country for a couple of months while the company was doing the install, and I was too busy to give the project the careful thought that it required. After being in the house for one week, I decided that I was unhappy enough to be feel bad instead of happy about my new front and back yards. I decided to find another landscaper to totally redo the landscaping. I had seen the Desert Sage Landscaping truck several times over the past few months working on nicely landscaped properties (I rented a house in the community for 8 moths while they built my house). I liked what I saw. I talked with one of the guys and he took me to the owner, Miguel. I liked having the owner actively maintaining landscapes because that gave me confidence that he had a lot of practical, on the job experience with plants in our desert environment. I showed him my front and back yards and told him what I wanted done. I asked him about many plants that I liked and he told me what was good and what was bad. He was speaking from experience in maintaining so many properties. He gave me a plan within 24 hours and began a couple of days later. He and his crew spent about a week replacing the walkways and plants, and adding boulders, hills, irrigation, lights and many plants. The price was reasonable and the result is excellent. I now have one of the nicest landscaping in the community. Thank you, Miguel and your team at Desert Sage Landscaping.

I found the broken PVC right where I instructed his worker to plant an agave fior me. When I told Isaiah's TFH Landscaping that his worker broke the sprinkler line, ISAIAHs said he would send the worker over to do the repair in a couple days which Isaias said was Tuesday, the worker never showed up. When I called him to say the worker never showed up he said he would come in a couple days and he personally will come and be there. Well Isaias never showed up. What's worse is he used to answer the phone on the first ring and was "always there for me" and even said "You know I am always here for you and I answer the phone". But after he didn't show up two times he wasn't answering the phone anymore .... ever. I left many, many messages telling Isaias I was disappointed that not only does he not show up to do the repair that his worker broke, but he deliberately is ghosting me for weeks. He sees from caller ID it is me calling for him to repair something he damaged (I sent pictures of the hacked irrigation pipe in the hole where the agave got blown outta there from the broken line), so he deliberately does not answer the phone ever again to BE THERE FOR MEEEEE, like he told me previously. That deserves 1 Yelp star. So you think I'm going to do business with him if he doesn't even answer the phone ever? Someone told me "because they don't get paid to repair their mistakes and have to take time out from already paying jobs to go to a job that doesn't pay. I never spoke to Isaias again because he didn't care to come back ad fix the broken pipe his worker hacked to pieces. That deserves 1 Yelp star don't you think? I have a new landscaper who has many solid 5 Yelp stars, and so far he has shown up every time I needed him, right on time, even when he squeezed me in. But I have no experience if he will show up to fix something he didn't do right, because nothing like that has happened so far.

Having two large dogs, it was a waste having a yard as big as mine as it was made entirely of desert rock. The previous owner had it done this way for the purpose of keeping it cheap and keeping it low maintenance during the years he lived here. Over the last few years after I purchased it, I got 3 quotes from 3 different companies to do a section of turf. I never committed to a company to do it because I didn't feel confident they could deliver what I wanted. Fast forward to two weeks, I met with Sean from Turf Monsters. After hearing my vision for the yard, he was quick about getting me their quote on the same day. Not only that, but he had an extensive knowledge of the kinds of turf they had that would fit my yard best, the process of whole installation, how to maintain it, etc. It wasn't a hard choice; I chose them to do my turf project feeling confident they would handle the job well. And did they ever! At my request, they managed to get my installation scheduled earlier than originally planned. Materials were dropped off and installers showed up as scheduled on the day they began. Every single encounter during the installation was professional and friendly. It took less than the original two-day quote for the 25'x30' area, the three man installation team finishing in only one day. And it turned out better than I had imagined it to! The bright green turf looks stunning with the original rock landscape against it. And the dogs are beyond happy with it, running around and wrestling on it, but also relaxing on it too as it doesn't get super hot in the sun. I've received so many compliments on it from neighbors and friends that have seen it, saying it completely changed the entire backyard for the better. I highly recommend this team to execute your turf desires! A job well done!

I paid to have brand new turf installed because I was told my existing turf needed to be replaced due to visible seams. After the job was completed, the new turf still has seams, which defeats the entire reason I agreed to replace it in the first place. I also paid for a completely new irrigation system, but it appears that it was never actually replaced. Many of the sprinklers still have the same old sprinkler heads and tops, yet the company insists the system was replaced. The visible evidence suggests otherwise. Additionally, I paid for repairs to my fire pit, and within three days the structure was already cracked again. The professionalism on-site was also lacking. During the job, the crew took a break for about an hour sitting on our personal lawn chairs and didn't even bother to put them back, and they left trash and debris behind when they finished. What's most frustrating is that I've reached out multiple times to have these issues addressed, and each time I've been pushed aside, given excuses, or told things that simply aren't true. At this point I feel like I paid a significant amount of money for work that was not completed as promised and was poorly executed. Overall, this has been a very frustrating experience, and unfortunately I cannot recommend this company to others. Update. The owner has informed us that we will be receiving a refund that should have arrived today. If course it did not arrive, not is he answering any attempts to reconcile. This shows how crooked he is.
