I have been to both locations, first in Lincoln and then in Folsom. I think this is the perfect embodiment of what a wine bar should be. Great selection, excellent service, reasonable prices and great Tapas menu with cheese, meatballs and even tacos on taco Tuesday. I went with a date on Tuesday to the Folsom location, was a pretty crowded without being uncomfortable or noisy. Great place for a romantic setting and always a great experience for the customer. read more

I have only been to Citizen Vine one time prior and while I was impressed with the ambiance I wasn't impressed by the wine and food selection. I decided to give them another shot and signed up for the Paint and Pair class hosted at their location. To my surprise the ticket included the paint night in addition to a glass of wine and a tapa! Seriously a great deal! I was seated at the bar and greeted by the friendly bartender, Melanie* who handed me their menu and explained which wines/tapas were a part of the ticket. I was surprised, their selections have greatly improved and I was almost at a loss of what I wanted to order. I went with the Hidden Crush Cab Sav and the chicken tacos. All of the attendees at the Paint and Pair event were exceedingly friendly! I typically attend these types of classes alone so I don't have people to socialize with but the ladies who sat next to me were such sweethearts. One lady ended up ordering the Margarita Flatbread which she received in record time. She was so courteous that she refrained from eating hers because I had yet to receive my tacos! One of my pet peeves is when someone who sits & orders after me receives their food before I do, but I figured the tacos took a little more prep to make than the flatbread. The Chicken tacos were pretty good, not enough sauce and too much bacon but I am one of those weirdos that doesn't really like bacon.. I know! I'm so un-american! I think the sauce should have been on top of the chicken instead of the slaw so that it could get into the nooks and crannies instead of inconsistent dry bites. The margarita flat bread that was sitting next to me looked divine! The aroma of fresh basil was mouthwatering. Kind of wish I went with the flat bread. The Paint and Pair class started a little late but it kept up a good pace and still got out on time. Trying to teach a whole room while everyone is sitting in various spots can be difficult but the host did her best to make sure she was seen and heard. Outside of happy hour, I do think their pricing is a little steep. Those 2 chicken tacos are normally $9 and the small flat bread is $8 but for happy hour they are only $6!! So I recommend trying to arrive during the 4-6pm time frame for the best deal! Now that I have been back to Citizen Vine after all of this time, I want to bring my fiancé to see how he likes it. I think he would thoroughly enjoy the selections and we will have to take a look at the charcuterie menu, as meat and cheese is a major go to for us! This review is for brunch. I recommended this place to my friends and was truly embarassed at what we were served and how much it cost! Two people ordered the breakfast skillet for $16 (bacon was added). The skillet was the size of a pazookie cookie skillet...maybe 6 inches across. Cheese was not melted and it was dry. No toast or side of any kind. My breakfast tacos were good but again, very spendy. With the $25 mimosa bar (which was yummy) our bill was $80!....for tapa sized breakfast. I've had their wine and evening tapas which have always been good. I'll gladly return for that but the brunch was not something I'd do again. We left hungry. read more

First time coming here and we had a great time. Walked in on a Saturday night at 6pm and lucked out getting a table. Limited seating inside. Would love to sit outside once the weather warms up. Looks like there might've been heaters outsidee. I didnt see a fire pit....that would've been amazing! Once seated inside we were greeted quickly with very friendly staff. We came in for a glass of wine and small bites. We had our 9yr old daughter ter with us and they were extremely accommodating. We opted for the special which included 2 glasses of wine and 3 small plates and a dessert! This was a prefect amount of food! My daughter was able to get a flatbread cheese pizza and was quite happy. Can't wait to come back here and sit outside and enjoy some more wine and food! read more

So good! I've been 3 times now. Pretty good service, but last sat for dinner was a bit slow getting to us. The goat cheese & ahi are my favorites. We are so fortunate to be so close to this little gem. The only downside is they are so popular it can be hard to get a seat sometimes. I enjoy their evolving menu of small snacks and salads with specials throughout the week. But I really enjoy the great atmosphere spending time with my friends and sipping great wine. I usually come about once a month and always tell myself I should do it more often. It is the go to place for my LNO with my neighbors and a quick stop for a glass of wine before book club. 5:00 on a Tuesday and who would have thought this place would be packed. Indoor is full to the rim and customers keep coming in. Outside patio is open and it's getting full as well Only two amazing ladies working the front room today, Jordan and Shea and they greet each person with smiles and treat you like family. This is why I come here...the staff is always amazing and welcoming. Even though they are slammed you would never know it. What a cool find! I was looking for a place to take my parents to, as they live close by in Sun City Lincoln. Using yelp I sorted restaurants in Rocklin and Lincoln to see the ones with the highest ratings, at this one was at the top of the list. I can see why. Small and comfortable setting, with an owner/operator who really cares (he was working the bar, where we sat). We ordered the hummus bruscheta, chicken quesadilla, chicken tacos, and meatballs, which let us share and sample and was a great way to go. We all agreed we'd come back again, especially for Happy Hour (3-6pm I think) where most food items are just $6! I live in Midtown Sacramento and am quite a foodie, dining out all the time. I can vouch for the high quality of the food here, the thought that went into the menu, the quality of the ingredients, and the care taken in prep and presentation. This place is doing it all, and I'm happy to help promote such an awesome small business! Btw, we were there on a Tuesday night and the place was full, but didn't feel crowded, just obviously popular and everyone was in a good mood. My wife and I stopped into Citizen Vine in Lincoln yesterday afternoon. We found it to be a nice experience during our first visit. Yesterday was no exception. Our wine steward was friendly, knowledgeable and "honorable". We like good wine and generally order premium labels. Our pourer offered some less expensive options that my wife and I enjoyed very much. She "also" went out of her way to ensure we only paid for food that was prepared according to her high standards (e.g., in our case, the basil on one of our flat-breads was not to our servers liking - it still tasted great to us). This establishment offers a very nice selection of better wines by the glass including Caymus, Duckhorn, Stags Leap Artemis and Rombauer. The also offer club memberships that seem to provide a number of perks including discounts. More to follow on that .... Finally, after paying our bill and starting to walk out, we saw some chardonnay that my wife enjoys ... offered by the bottle .... at a significant discount, even compared to the to some of the superstores. My wife grab some and I settled up for the final time ...... that particular day. I highly recommend this place. read more

I don't know how I got lucky enough to live one exit away from Citizen Vine! This Marine Veteran owned business offers military discounts to active duty members, THANK YOU! They have happy hour and daily specials that are very reasonable. The service was really exceptional. I can tell that there are lots of regulars and the servers were all really friendly and helpful. They understood the menu and were able to help me with allergy concerns and make amazing wine selections based on our preferences. My only super super small complaint is the chairs. Speaking as a someone with back problems, I could really use some comfortable chairs, and please please please give me a back to rest against. My husband was super uncomfortable in the straight back chairs with his hip and back issues, and we're not ancient, just in our 40's. But service life can be hard and a cozy chair to rest our bums and drink some wine while we escape our screaming toddler would be absolute heaven on Earth. When I see proud Marines, I usually scream BLOOD AND GUTS!!!! But I guess here I'll class myself up and be a bit more civilized. See you soon! read more

I was here a few days after it opened. Fantastic service and atmosphere. The owner was behind the bar and he made some fantastic recommendations in food to compliment the wine we chose. It is a minimalist approach to decorating but it's clean and simple and sophisticated. There is a wall decorated by stained wine boxes- really cool. For me the stools at the bar are kind of small and the bar wasn't particularly deep enough for my legs, but that's kind of petty. I could have easily moved to the comfortable sofas. The wine selection was pretty good and they said they are going to expand it with a focus on local wines. That's cool. A few wines were available by the bottle only which is strange and a bit of a turn off... They were some of our favorite wines. Pretty good place. Great wine selections and very cool mellow ambiance. Great place for date nights, girls night out, etc. They have a tapas style menu that so far has been all good; desserts especially. Has great potential and the owner seems very interested in seeing that happen. . They are trying new things right now like Sangria Sundays and a coffee bar in the morning. I've had coffee there twice but sadly I don't think it'll work for me. I like drip coffee fast and cheap and they only provide Americanos or French Press at around $4. Not an espresso person anymore, so can't comment on their Espresso, Latte offerings. Recommendations to owner: Keep at it. I think they are moving in the right direction as they seem to listen to customers and care about continual improvement. I would separate out into 2 district business with one location a la Lost Bean of Tustin, CA. They're a coffee shop that changed to "Lost Vine, a wine bar at night. SEO would be much better and keeping the Yelp reviews will benefit them. Branding is very tough when you try to do everything. Refer to Al Reis for more on this. I'll make this the first place we go back to once this political BS is over, for sure. I'm pretty sure this is a five-star place during normal times - but I've only been here once, so that's all I can say. The food was very good in the end! We had a fair bit of problems with the food though. I'm not going to detail them because they were all taken care of. Overall, however, we only ordered four things and had problems of some sort with three of them; basic issues, no special orders or anything like that. And again, all taken care of just fine. The thing that bugged me is something I tend to be pretty sensitive to. We were a party of two, but a party of six that came in right after us had their food before we were even able to order our main food - we had ordered a meat/cheese plate though. Our server was very nice and we liked her. She rolled with the food problems well and fixed things quickly. It just seemed that we didn't get as much attention to get our food ordered while a much larger group was being attended to. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I think most folks will give this place five stars, and I look forward to going back in a few weeks once restaurants are allowed to be the best they can. read more

My go-to happy hour spot! One of my best friends lives on the border of Lincoln and, up until recently, I was living in Rocklin so, "The Vine" was a perfect middle spot for us. Their food is Tapas style, which allows us to order a few different items to split. I have tried everything on the menu and love it all but, if I had to choose a few favorites, I'd go with the Asian plum meatballs, the chicken and bacon tacos and the pesto chicken and bacon pizza.
