I called City Appliance San Marcos, Jacob Rodriquez is running the company now he came the day I called and showed up on time. Jacob tested the wall socket to my dryer and discovered the voltage coming from the outlet that is connected to the breaker box was not producing enough electric power to heat up my 5 year old dryer! He saved the day with the right diagnosis and there was nothing wrong with my dryer! Inside the breaker box the wire to the dryer breaker had come loose easy repair. I don't know if these guys are still in business but don't call these people! My elderly blind mother had someone come out to check her washing machine. She does not remember his name. He sabotaged her machine!!! Took out a couple of fuses and the water plug and told her he couldn't fix it in hopes she would buy another one from them. I had someone from G&L Appliance come out yesterday and fix it. He plugged those things back in and works just fine. OK folks, here is my review of Billy's ( City Appliance ) job... My Frigidaire dishwasher showed an error code. Stopped mid cycle.. I had it 5-6 years, from Lowe's. Out of warranty. Billy had come last year & installed a new belt on my old dryer - took 20 mins. Good as new. Not buying a new washer & dryer no matter what the wife says! They work! Anyway, Billy came & accessed the situation. After a long review of codes, and pulling the thing out & taking a good long look @ it, he said yes, the "vent" was causing the code. The new "vent" was $151.00, & we called Lowe's & there was an early Black Friday SALE going on, so I went ahead & purchased a new Whirlpool dishwasher for $299.99 - $200 bucks off. I went & paid for it. Told Lowe's Billy would be picking up, and installing. Indeed he did pick up, I needed a longer hose, so he went back to Lowe's in San Marcos- ugh - we live in the country - & came back, hooked up the line, hooked it up, and we have clean dishes. That's it. He charged me ONE service call, and minimal labor. I am not a handy man..! Billy & I spoke, & his Father started this business many years ago & has since passed. Billy, to me, is an honest, God fearing human being. I trusted him, as he was nice, & respectful to my family while installing the new unit. Even my big dog liked Billy. I don't know what happened in the past reviews,, as I know he's been through personnel changes,, but all I can tell you is that he was respectful, professional, & wouldn't quit until the job was done. He came on a Saturday. Who works on a Saturday? I give 5 stars to Billy, & will call him again. He was honest with me. Period. He also said if the thing quit working, to call him, he'd take it out, get a new one from Lowe's, install, and would not charge me a dime. That's what I call customer service!!! read more

I called them to figure out why my washer was squealing and making a whirring noise. They could have made an appointment immediately but I scheduled for something later. So the guy was on time. He diagnosed the problem as an Motor COntrol Unit. Bad news: $175 for the part. Worst news: Back ordered until Feb of 2011. The tech offered to sell me a refurb'd unit in the shop for $200 and haul mine off. He also could check some other machines he had laying around and find the board. After a couple of weeks I never heard from them and called them up. They had the tech call me and he said he couldn;t find a MCU for me. I said thanks (already irritated i had to call them) and started looking online for the MCU. I find several easy enough in the price range he quoted. Incidently, looking online about my problem with a MCU, a error code should have appeared, one never did. Happened I had some free time so I took the back of the washer off and started fiddling with it (which the tech never even moved my machine, just fiddled with the buttons). Disconnected the belt from the motor to the drum. Turned it on and the motor ran without noise. Tried turning the drum by hand and it seemed jammed. So i looked around the lip between the door seal and the drum and found a sock wedged in there. I pulled out the sock, reconnected everything and the washer works PERFECTLY! Cost me $45 (City Appliance diagnostic fee) for me to fix my own machine. Could have cost me $175-$200 and City Appliance made a lot of money of selling my machine to someone else. The problem should've been pretty evident to the tech if it was the second or third step i took to fixing the problem. I DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY and you shouldn;t either IMHO.. read more

Put it this way. We had to file in Hays County small claims court to get our money back from City Appliance. I made the mistake of paying in advance for a part and service call. The owner and his son have not offered a refund nor came out to finish what they started in over a month. A couple of phones calls have been loaded with excuses and false promises of coming out and completing the job that they were payed in full for. They have said the original service man had been fired, they ordered the wrong part, the part was not in stock, the part is here and we are on our way out etc. etc. I will update after our court date. So, no do better research than I did and leave these people for bankruptcy. They do not care about their customers. As a follow up we won the case and received a judgement against Billy Rodriguez. Before having the Hays County Constable's office carry out the Writ of Execution we called City Appliance. I spoke with the owner Billy Rodriquez and gave him a chance to right the wrong. He was rude and condescending with absolutely no interest in refunding our money for work that he never did. In fact he offered to verify his address so the constable would no where to find him. Here are his own words from google voice: " Blue_ghost +15126448416 Add - San Marcos, TX 4/28/14 10:55 AM 16 minutes ago - secondary number called: "Hello, this is bill in the city appliance, I just wanted to make sure you got the right address so you know where to send. He always says God Bless and has a Christian symbol on his paperwork but I wonder if he understands what a "false witness" is? read more

We were in a pinch on a late saturday afternoon when are fridge temp started creeping up. This guy named Billy was the only one available. He came, said the problem was the motherboard and he had one with him, and fixed it. Later that evening it broke again. He charged us cash and said there is a 30 day warranty and to call if there were any problems. We have been unable to get in touch with him. Our fridge is still broke. read more

These guys suck 100% bought a washer and dryer from a guy named billy on a saturday evening for $275 we were excited cause he came in a jiffy so he installed my apliances and gave me a receipt and told me that not only do i have 30 days warranty but added an additional 60 days i was like wow! Thanks as soon as he left the damn dryer broke i said is this a freakin joke so bein late and all i decided to call his ass first thing sunday morning surprisingly he answered he told me that he would be comin over late that evening now this was like 20 till10am i waited patiently it started to get late like 5 or 6 around there tried calling NO ANSWER! 10 to 20 min later tried calling again NO ANSWER So monday came around i called him again surprisingly he answered AGAIN and told me that by 5pm that afternoon he would really deliver me a dryer but he has to pick it up from austin AGAIN I WAITED 5 came 6 came and nothing ignored my calls AGAIN ...BOTTOM LINE THIS GUY IS A ASS**** AND A CROOK AND SHOULD SHUT HIS SO CALLED BUSINESS DOWN FOR GOOD ... read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! Called city appliance because my oven was not working. Owner came out,Billy and he said it was the control board. He brought the new part in December and I paid for it but he didn't test it before he left. It didn't work and the oven was shutting off like it did before. I called the business phone and either got phone is disconnected or mail box is full and could not leave message. When I finally got Billy Rodriguez he came out and removed old part and said he was on his way to San Antonio to get new part. He never called or came back . I keep calling and his other story now is he says he is on his way to Austin to get the part and will be here in the morning to install part and he never shows up. This has happened several times and all he does is yell at me on the phone about he knows I need my oven to work but it isn't his fault then he hangs up. My oven has not worked since November,2013. I paid him when original bad part was installed and I have asked for my money back and Billy says I am being unfair and it's not his fault. It certainly isn't mine and I am without money or working oven. I am reporting him because I hope no one else goes through an experience like this. His ad includes a fish symbol denoting a Christian business but Billy Rodriguez has not conducted his business in a Christian manner. read more

On a Friday morning, my refrigerator was making a loud noise. I call City Appliance around 10am thinking I will not be able to find anyone to repair this problem before next week. I called and was able to make an appointment. The time frame was between 2 and 4 that same day. So I called work to take off. By taking off I don't make $. I wait and wait no one is showing. No calls. No communication. I called them, someone answers. I tell them who I am, the phone goes dead. I call back, the line is dead. I get the " the number you're trying to reach is out of order....." at this point it's almost 5pm on Friday. I keep calling, no answer. (The next day, I call and get the same thing. Some guy who answers, I tell them who I am, then a hang up. ) Obviously, my time mean nothing to these assclowns. From all the other reviews I'm reading, City Appliance is a joke and a present day scam. Do yourself a favor and find someone else to repair your appliance. read more
