Today was our first experience with City BBQ, and although there was a small hiccup with our order, I would call the experience a great success and we will be back again. We ordered online for us and some out of town guests, each of us getting something a little different. Everyone really enjoyed their choices and ate well (with a few leftovers for later). The hiccup was that one item did not get in our take away bag, and I had to run back to the store to get it. They made it right without hesitation. This is the sort of customer service (with a smile) that will bring us back every time. Great looking store, nice people, great service, and great food. Go check it out. City BBQ is a local staple. They have a great selection of your normal bbq's. It isn't my favorite but just because i'm not a fan of their sauces and for me the sauce makes the BBQ. The meat is just okay. The pulled pork is very watery. Overall this location is very clean and I love the decor. I also love that they have a children's table to color at with coloring books, big brown paper and coloring books! They do do a 10% military discount so don't forget to ask! I love this place but last night's takeout was not up to par. I got a pulled pork sandwich that was dry and had very little meat on it. My husband got the brisket sandwich and it was the same. Our sides were smaller in size as well. A single banana pudding was $8 and the container was half full. We get the price increase but are not sure what's going on with the quality and quantity. Although the bbq is the best we have tasted since living in SC, sometimes the employees can make you wish you had chosen pizza. Knowing we were going to grill out last evening, I stopped by city bbq in Centerville oh to pick up two bottles of their sauce. The inside order line had approximately 14 people in line and the take-out register had ZERO. I asked Sean if I could make my purchase at the take out register and he advised I would need to go to the inside order register. I looked at the line and when I looked at him again, he shrugged his shoulders like he was in 2nd grade. I went to the other line, and guess who was the person at THAT register when it was my turn to pay? Sean. We've tried a few places in this area but hands down, city bbq is the best in the area. He parking lot is super tiny, they're always crazy packed. It's definitely best to order ahead and pick up your order. Even in a pinch you can wait out their line as its very fast moving. Their staff is incredibly friendly. We ordered food for our company Christmas party from City Barbeque. The ordering process was easy and the receipt was emailed promptly after payment. All good so far.. The food was supposed to be delivered at 3pm and did not arrive until 3:30. The driver said that she could not find our building. Nice thing was that she set everything up for us - including paper tablecloth to protect the surface of the tables. We had cornbread, green beans, BBQ chicken and pulled pork. Chocolate cake for desert. The food was really good but: Didn't agree with me and my tummy started hurting shortly after I ate.. bummer... I have had bbq all over the country in my travels. Kansas City, St. Louis, Memphis, Carolina and Texas brisket. As far as chain bbq restaurants this is right near the top. I always judge by the brisket. Theirs is very tender, good bark and great flavor. The ribs are excellent as well. What sets this place apart is the sauce. They have 5-6 different sauces. Mostly tomato based. My favorite is the spicy brushfire sauce. If I'm out eating lunch I always consider eating here. Highly recommend. read more

I still love the City BBQ! Over my past few years in the DAY, we've had multiple family holiday meals catered by City. They never disappoint. The smoked turkey is always delicious and perfectly prepared, never dry. My sister says, "I don't know why anyone would ever cook their own turkey. This is so much easier, and tastes so much better!" The sides are killer. My favorite is the corn pudding. I think they must put crack in it because it is so addicting! The green beans go over great too. This year I had 2 Thanksgivings and 2 City turkeys. There was plenty of food, but not much for leftovers because everyone loved the bird so much. Pick-up for holiday meals is super streamlined for fast and efficient service. As my beau said, "They've got this system down pat!" I've ordered smaller meals for days when I know people need fed, but I don't have the time to deal with food prep. (ex. moving day!). I've never heard a complaint from anyone after we've catered. Definitely a go-to restaurant for good service, fair prices, clean establishment, somewhere you can come-as-you-are, and quite decent bbq. I've had the sampler platter of a pulled pork sandwich with sides of vinegar cole slaw and corn pudding, then added cornbread on top of that (yeah, I realized after I ordered that this was a heck of a lot of bread. Ha!). I also have had the ribs. Again, I ordered too much bread by ordering cornbread not realizing the ribs came with Texas Toast. Drat! I ate both. Both offerings I thought were good. I tried their city sweet bbq sauce, which is my preference. Growing up in Louisville, KY, it's the kind of bbq I expect -- I want my sauce to be sweet and sticky. Having travelled, I realize not everyplace thinks of bbq in the same way. Shame! The staff is polite and efficient, offering samples of their sides to help you choose. Food was absolutely delicious and customer service was even better! Came in for the first time and I had some questions about the brisket and instead of just telling me it was good I was given a sample to try it myself (it was amazing) As I was ordering my sides the gentlemen who was off to the side preparing the food could tell I was indecisive and when I got my food he added samples of all their sides so I could try them all myself. It made the experience just so much better. Real southern hospitality! Definitely consider them for catering!!!!! They did a phenomenal job with set up, tear down, and communication prior to and during the event. Food tasted as good at the event as it does in stores. The lemonade stand was awesome-they will do custom mason jars that you can engrave what you want on them and then they have raspberries for the lemonade.
