Five months into a pandemic was apparently when I REALLY needed some barbecue in my life, and City BBQ delivered. Well, I went to pick it up, but you know what I mean. The sampler had brisket, ribs, chicken and I believe pulled pork, and everything was really good. The brisket was probably my favorite. I got green beans and collard greens as my sides - the green beans were great, the collard greens would probably have been better fresh, not reheated the next day. The order also came with two mini cornbread loaves, which made for great breakfast with some butter and honey. Curbside pickup was super easy - they send texts, so you just check in with your license plate, and they'll put the bag in the trunk. The only thing that bothered me was that you don't seem to be able to tip via the app, and I didn't have cash for a tip. Making the whole transaction cashless would be super helpful. read more

Ordered for a large lunch on a construction site of about 30 people. Food was ready when I walked in the door and was probably the best pulled pork I have ever had. City always has quality food but this meal was even better. Pricing was great for a large meal and would definitely order here again for my other projects. Contactless delivery doesn't get much easier than City BBQ. Their online ordering system is easy to use, and the food is tasty. Our food arrived at the scheduled time. Everything was in sealed containers, and neat. They did a good job including all sauces, plates and utensils. Nothing was missing from the order. We ordered the Judge's Sampler. Ribs, chicken, brisket, pulled pork, Texas toast, cornbread and sides. I recommend upgrading to the pint size. We had plenty of food for two, and have leftovers for tomorrow's lunch. read more

My go to is the corn pudding, half chicken, baked beans and you HAVE TO get the banana pudding, sooo good. But seriously I've never had a single complaint about City BBQ no matter what I've tried the food is always delicious and the order is always correct. The only thing is the food may take a minute because it's typically pretty busy there between online orders and in-person customers but it's not bad at all maybe 5 minutes give or take. Being that I'm a native NC-lian, I was super skeptical of trying BBQ while I'm town, however my coworkers were the ones driving. I will not take points of due to my bias, with that being said I give them a 3.2/5. *The smoked sausage was ok, tasted familiar like a breakfast sausage almost. *The pulled pork was super tender! Lacked seasoning but the sweet and original sauces they provided was a good fix. *The greens have a vinegar based taste instead of a pork taste. I tried to identify what pork was used in it but I couldn't. Needed a little salt and a bit more seasoning since the only aroma lingering in your mouth was the vinegar. *the beans have brisket chunks visible, they were super hot in temp which is good, and it has a dense flavor like mustard could've been added. A little sugar or molasses would be great. *Texas toast was really good. My coworkers had the ribs, fries, and Mac. Presentation looked decent. read more

This was a catered in meal for about 50 employees. It was delivered and set up on time! We had iced tea, salad, brisket , creamed chicken, cornbread, Mac cheese and pickles. There was also everything we needed, like plates cups etc. I ate about a half hour after arrival and enjoyed it very much. This was yesterday. Today, I ate leftover mac n cheese and cornbread . Great bbq place and really friendly staff! The restaurant set up is that you order first when you first walk in and then go sit down. They'll call you when your foods ready. The food comes out pretty quickly. Probably only waited a few minutes before my name was called. Came here for the first time and the host helped me out with in house specials and customer favorites- ended up getting half slab of ribs with corn bread and Mac and cheese. Ribs also come with a toast of garlic bread. All the portions were great. Loved the bbq choices too one of my favorite was the peach habanero. It was sweet but def had a nice kick to it! First time getting City Barbeque in a long time, and i was very excited to order today. I their amazing ribs and greens. The takeout order process was confusing and as if they never had takeout orders, but somehow still worked. I ordered a judge's sampler, which came with ribs, chicken, pulled pork and brisket. I also got sides of mac and cheese and green beans, as greens were not an option on the menu. The brisket was ok, the chicken was good and the pulled pork was actually great. The ribs were a letdown, as they were chewy and not very flavorful. The sides were TINY, like single servings. The price was reasonable, but overall, not really worth going back. City Barbeque used to be great but at least in this visit, they have lost their way. :( read more

How I miss this place! I swear after living in numerous locations across the United States this is one of my top three places I miss the most. The Beef Brisket here is surpassed by none. I've found a reasonable substitution here in the Phoenix area for the brisket but never have I found a great substitute for the barbeque sauce. I highly recommend the More Cowbell -- beef brisket, sautéed onions and peppers, provolone cheese and onion straws on a toasted texas toast bun.
