I am always impressed with the quality of the food. Everything I order is consistently good time after time. The employees are always friendly and treat their customers very well. We seldom eat inside the restaurant, but when we do, the environment is nice and clean and well laid out. The only reason I did not give a 5 rating is due to their horrible website. I've tried to place orders and cannot complete because it tells me that I put in the wrong password. I then submit a request to change my password so I can sign in, but after 3 attempts, I am never prompted with the email to change password. I ordered from this restaurant online and paid for it there, so when I went to get my food, I could just pick it up and go. When I got there, they couldn't find my order, so I pulled up the confirmation email to make sure I wasn't crazy. The manager looks at the email and noticed I placed it for a location in North Carolina (how I did this, I still have no idea!). I like the idea of fast bbq. But it's not the best idea. Unfortunately both times that's i have stopped by to satisfy my craving I've been disappointed. The food is always cold. He was a very nice guest He bought me a pulled pork sandwich and baked beans. Now, when I think of pulled pork, I think of shredded, very thin pieces of meat. This was the total opposite! There were BIG chunks of pork, with the fat still on some pieces ( which I LOVE!!!!). The bread was buttery and soft, which made every bite amazing! The baked beans were just as good! They had chunks of brisket in them, and it had this sweet but tangy kick to them. I was told it's like the "Carolina" barbecue taste. I had a side of sauce (barbecue) that I put on the sandwich too. City Barbecue was the catering company for our wedding and oh my goodness -- they did such an incredible job from start to finish! We met with Ashlee at the location in Fishers for a tasting, where we got to try a little bit of everything. Ashlee did a fabulous job of explaining all of the delicious food. She also had a slideshow of their gorgeous displays from many different weddings. She developed three different plans for each budget level. Ashlee was thorough and answered all of our many questions. I thought that it was very reasonably priced for the quality of the food and the level of service that they offer. And then...COVID. City Barbecue was probably our most flexible and kind vendor as we went about canceling one wedding and planning a completely different one. They were flexible with decreasing the number of guests, changing the location, date -- even allowing us to choose a date that was already full; they said they would make it happen because they wanted to make it less troublesome for us. They were a wonderful, stress-free light during the very stressful time of planning a wedding during COVID. The whole staff was wonderful and they did a fabulous job of adhering to COVID precautions. My family and I moved here from the south 3 years ago and were in search of some good bbq that reminded us of home. We thought that it would be impossible being that a few restaurants we've visited have been "hit or miss". City Barbecue is definitely a hit for us! We always get the ribs, which are super tender, juicy, and just amazing! My husband gets the baked beans and coleslaw, and I get corn pudding and the hand cut fries...and they did not disappoint! By the way, the coleslaw tasted almost like my grandma's recipe, and nobody beats my grandma's coleslaw recipe . We choose carside service, which is always really fast, friendly, and convenient! We haven't eaten inside since it's always super busy, but it looks like a nice, family friendly atmosphere that we'd love to experience someday. read more

This is a late post. We decided to get some take out to help local businesses. We did the Judges Sampler. I was not disappointed. The meat was spot on. The brisket was tender. The pork was a little dry but the BBQ sauce helped. The chicken was great. The bread and cornbread was great. Overall it was just enjoyed and filled our bellies. I can't imagine ever having brisket so incredibly dry, it was more like Jerky than delicious brisket. The pulled pork wasn't as dry, but didn't impress. I remember City BBQ being so much better than what I got tonight. What a disappointment when a side dish is the star of an entire meal. When we came in we were instantly greeted by a man making ribs and then when the other guy came to take our order he insisted we try some samples which were delicious so we both ended up getting samplers. All of the staff was so kind courteous and helpful. The food was amazing and everything I expected it to be. I am so impressed that I hope to have their food for our rehearsal dinner as something fun and casual before such a big and serious event the day following. I've eaten several places in Texas and Tennessee and would say that this is very comparable. At the end they even offered to clear our table for us. The staff really goes above and beyond anything they have to do and you can tell that the restaurant definitely runs in a group effort, very well managed. Five stars for their low carb options! This is so hard to find one eating out, and this is actually good options for somebody looking for some healthy food in the Indy area. You can easily get any of their meats without sauce and either the green beans and bacon, or a side side, and stay well under 10 total carbs. Just FYI! I splurged and had their cute-and-onion salad, which is 14g in it. The atmosphere is everything you would expect from a barbecue joint. It's a very festive and fun! So...generally I don't write bad reviews; however, I was so disappointed with the quality of the food here that I felt compelled to share this experience. I ordered greens, baked beans w/ brisket, a slab of ribs, pulled pork and brisket with a peach cobbler for dessert. The ribs were overcooked, the pork was dry but the brisket was nothing but crumbles; while the greens were salty and tasted heavily of vinegar. The baked beans were delicious as was the peach cobbler. I spent quite a bit of money for a majority of it to be non-edible. This was a major disappointment to everyone in my family, even a 14-year-old boy that eats EVERYTHING couldn't bring himself to eat it! I got one pulled pork sandwich, and one brisket sandwich to treat my sister last night. We'd planned on splitting both sandwiches, but when I opened the brisket, I was stunned to find that nearly 1/4 of the meat I'd paid for was pure fat that no one would ever eat. So it ended up we had to split about 1.5 sandwiches. Every single piece of brisket had a 1/4"to nearly 1/2" strip of fat running down at least one long side. I had to do surgery on the meat in order for us to eat it. When I pay for meat, I want meat. And that sandwich was more expensive than the pork one. (Why?) We did a carry out order for dinner, and imagine my horror when I came across a large piece of some sort of charred plastic in my baked beans. We immediately contacted the restaurant to let them know, as we didn't want someone to potentially choke or damage a tooth. Upon speaking with the manager, he immediately knew EXACTLY what we found. Apparently it's some sort of a label that tends to peel off and fall into the pans of food when they're heated. I'm obviously not the first person that has found charred plastic in the food. City BBQ, yeah, I'm a fan. We're fortunate in Indy to have a few good BBQ places, and City can run with any of them. I'm a fan of their brisket. While it's not quite as good as some I've had in KC or Memphis, I think it's probably the best I've had in Indy. There's a sandwich on the menu called "More Cowbell" that I don't recall seeing in previous visits--brisket, peppers, smoked provolone, horseradish sauce that I REALLY liked.
