This was definitely a different setup compared to most. This small establishment is run out of the Sertoma Community Center on the southeast side of the Indy Metro area. It does not look as though you are entering a restaurant when you approach, but you are. I think they are configured more for takeout, but they have access to the large event area with cafeteria-style seating. So there is plenty of room to eat in if you'd prefer (which we did). The hours seem a little limited so be sure to check before you go. The menu, including the specials, is on a white board as you walk in. The selection is streamlined, BBQ-dominated and carnivore-oriented (other than the sides). The system is a walk-up and order from the kitchen doorway. My wife chose the Pulled Pork Sandwich with Baked Beans while I opted for the Chopped Chicken Sandwich with Kickin Coleslaw. The food was very good. The proprietors were very friendly and engaging, and that was a plus. The prices were quite reasonable. With drinks and tip, it was about $14 each. Normally great food & service but this time the owners were not there and our wings were hard and burnt! The first time we had the wings they were done to perfection. I believe because they just opened for the morning that the workers were rushing to get them done and over cooked them. Maybe this was just a training problem and will be corrected on our next visit. This is an awesome barbecue joint that you will find tucked away in the Camp Sertoma Community Center Bingo Hall. There is ample parking available on the camp's compound and being that it is in a bingo hall there is more than enough seating available. They offer dine in, take out, or drive-up. They serve barbecue meat that includes, rib tips, brisket, and pulled pork. And for sides they have corn casserole, green beans, macaroni, baked beans, slaw, and mac n cheese. They also had desserts. You know I had to try their banana pudding. They only serve canned drinks (remember, this is a pop-up restaurant in a bingo hall). I ordered the rib tip dinner and a bunch of their sides to go with it. I ate my meal in the hall and it only took about 5 minutes for them to prepare it. The rib tips came with the sauce on the side and they were delicious. Cooked to perfection. Not too hard and not too soft and packed with flavor. As i right this review, I can honestly say that I cannot pick a favorite side of the many that I tried. They were all so good. There was not a weak one in the bunch. The banana pudding was on point too. They give you some decent servings at a very reasonable price. If the food was not enough, the staff is the friendliest that I have encountered in a long time. They were very welcoming, patient and helpful. They really enhanced my dining experience. If you are looking for some good barbecue with superior service, look no further. I had been seeing reviews for SB BBQ online and decided to try it. Our 1st visit was early in the day (around 2pm) and they were already out of ribs. We ordered the tips and brisket and were very pleased. The tips and brisket was seasoned and along with the char on the meat was on point. They never made it home. The second time we tried SB we called the day before so we would know what time to be there to get ribs. We were told if we were there before 2 we would be OK. We showed up at 1:20 and told they were sold out and would not be cooking anymore and this was on a Friday. If you're selling ribs at that volume maybe you need to reevaluate the amount of ribs that you are cooking for that day. I've been here twice and still have not tasted the ribs. ​ read more

Went here because I never knew this was a bbq joint. Service was real good, got in and out without about 10-15 minutes. They have a drive thru which can make things convenient for those on the go. I got pulled pork and brisket. Food was super tender and juicy, however the brisket was lacking some flavor, but the bark made up for it. Mac n cheese wasn't good however, no flavor, very bland. Corn pudding wasn't too bad, which it had more of a crunch crust. Banana pudding was awesome. However i'm one of those people who LOVE a lot of wafers in their pudding, but the taste was excellent. We ordered food from Smokin' Barrel BBQ a handful of times and have never been disappointed! They are unique in that you pre-order online, stating your food order and the time of pickup, you pull up to the building in front of the door (or in the line) and someone comes to your car window to ask your name and brings out your order. We typically park in their parking lot and eat while it's hot. My husband is crazy for their pulled pork dinner which provides a generous serving of pulled pork and always with baked beans and corn casserole. Hubby says theirs is "fabulous"! I only ever get the one pound of rib tips and no sides. Fill my belly with as many rib tips as I can stuff in there! Delicious! Great food, generous portions and the friendliest staff ever! I don't think there is an adjective that could best describe this delightful, delicious, perfectly seasoned, tender meat. You really don't need sauce, might be a sin to do so! I discovered this restaurant via GrubHub, in my search for new barbecue experiences, and wow was I ever glad I did. My first encounter with them was through delivery food, and their barbecue brisket sandwich is phenomenal. For $10 (or $13 via GrubHub) you get enough meat for two or three "normal" sandwiches...and a tiny little bun to cram it into. (You may want to have one of your own buns or a couple of slices of bread handy so that you can make up a second sandwich.) There's only one tub of barbecue sauce, which may not be enough for the amount of meat, so you might wish to request extra sauce when you order. The meat is tender and juicy, marbled with succulent fat, and has a very tasty barbecue sauce with it. The sandwich just comes with a bag of chips, but that's fine; the sandwich is what you're there for. The "meat fight" sandwich was good, too. I honestly haven't tried much else of what they offer, given that I'm a huge fan of beef brisket, and the brisket was so good I didn't want to give it up for something else. If you can, I would suggest ordering for pickup or carry-out, rather than going via GrubHub; in order to cover the chunk of revenue GrubHub extracts from orders, the GrubHub prices are about 30% more expensive. Smokin' Barrel uses the Camp Sertoma building and facilities to operate its service, which means its "drive-through" is actually just the circle drive at the main building's entrance; when you drive up, an employee will come out to take your order with a hand-held card reading gadget. Then you can pull ahead and park out of the way (or sit down on a convenient bench if you walked or biked up), and they'll bring it out to you in a few minutes. One nice aspect of this is that, since it's not a traditional drive-through window setup, the restaurant doesn't have any reason to refuse to accept walk-up or bicycle customers. If you're wanting to eat it there, there are some picnic tables outside, or in the Sertoma pavilion if it's open. Otherwise, you'll have to just take it home. Minor drawbacks: they don't seem to carry baked beans, which are my favorite barbecue side dish. But the meat is good enough that I'll forgive them. Also, I wish they were open more days of the week than just Thursday through Saturday. But if you're hungry for barbecue when they're open, my personal slogan applies: OMG, BBQ FTW. read more
