I have been to several locations of City Barbecue and the Fishers location is my favorite of all. The food and the service is always top notch . My go to is the Brisket sandwich with collard greens and potato salad. During COVID we stopped in and the collard greens weren't on the menu and I was talking to the manager and told him I really missed them , and he explained that there was an issue at the time and they would be back soon . I sat down to finish my meal and the manager came out a few minutes later with a cup of greens, that is the kind of service that you can expect from this location and staff. I'm going to give it four stars today you know how I roll things change and not all restaurants are consistent. So they get points for friendliness. It was amazingly quick fast and efficient the place was spotless from what I could see! Love the industrial vibe they have going on plus fact that they use brown paper bags. The lady that waited on me was patient and understanding as I have never been there before and they have a up beat down to earth personalities which is what I prefer.. it beats stuffy any day! I just grabbed a lunch sandwich pulled pork and collard greens to go. The greens were tasty! couple minor tweaks and they would be excellent suggestion.. make them a little more tender and hold back a bit on the salt and vinegar. I do like a little chew on my greens but some people don't, they would be too tough for some people's liking. The pulled pork was tasty it could've been a little more juicy I had to travel with mine so I did mine van on the side so I could build it when I got home I needed some sauce I don't like my pulled pork saturated in sauce and I don't like soggy buns!The hot sauce was really hot! I liked it.. but I mixed the hot with the sweet for balance.. it was a good bite! This is our usual bbq spot in the neighborhood. Decent menu and quality BBQ. We always order a pretty diverse mixture and the sides are always pretty good. The fries are best In person but the Mac and cheese travels well. My wife enjoys the banana dessert, and my father in law likes the collard greens. I stick to the brisket. One of the best BBQ places I've ever eaten at! The meats are tender, juicy, and full of flavor. There's a good variety of meats as well as side dishes. Portions are a good size too...you'll definitely be full after your meal. Cole slaw was not your typical creamy kind. It was much lighter and tasted great. Potato salad and baked beans were amazing too. You get your food fairly fast, and they have everything out for you to get yourself...utensils, sauces, condiments, even to-go boxes...very convenient! Service was great, and the staff was nice. After we ordered our food, our 2yr old wanted milk. We went back to the register to order it. The lady asked if it was for our baby, we said Yes and she gave it to us at no charge. So here's the thing... I can't decide between 4 and 5 stars here. I've eaten 5-star barbecue and this isn't quite that. However, it's the best chain barbecue I've ever had. It's 4 stars on the "barbecue" scale, but 5 stars on the "chain" scale. It's all good here, but the sneaky surprise is the barbecue chicken, which is among the best I've ever had. Perfectly cooked, juicy, great flavors. Just perfection. The ribs and pulled pork are great and the sliced brisket is excellent. The smoked turkey is also pretty good. I wasn't bowled over by their sausages, but they were okay. The sides are great. The mac and cheese is very good. I'm a big fan of collard greens, and these are excellent and chock full of pork hunks. The green beans also come with those tasty pork bits. The slaw is good but not exceptional. Be sure to sample their various sauces, as several are quite good. They had a seasonal bourbon flavored one that was out of this world, but has since disappeared. One of the great features of where we live in Fishers is that City is just a five minute drive away. If you want really good, but not top of the line, barbecue or if you want as good a chain experience as you can have, this is the place. read more

It had been nearly 15 years since I partook of City Barbeque (in Toledo, Ohio). Today with a locale in lil' ole Fishers the times have changed. I can still remember when they only had 5 locations (up to 10 cities now with multiples!) and glad they are doing well. We ordered lunch in the office today for customers. It's really remarkable how familiar everything tasted. The bark on the pulled pork (and the pork in general) is ridiculously good. All three sauces have varying flavors of awesome. I did not like the pulled chicken...too salty. Speaking of salty...green beans. Holy hell bring the water. Potato salad is great. The mac and cheese was great as well...creamy and delicious. If you're looking for a lunch spot in the area, this is the spot. The Lite Lunch Combo is probably the value lunch deal you can get north of Indy that's not fast food. It's basically a full sandwich with two side for $9. I got the LoLo with baked beans and fries, and it was probably the most food I've ever gotten at lunch for under $10. So many fries. A thick cup of baked beans. A good quality BBQ sandwich with all the fixins, what's not to love? They have a full sauce bar (I recommend the Bourbon and the Brushfire) and a full fixins bar. City Barbecue...yummy!! This is a great casual, quick place when you want to have really good barbecue. My family loves barbecue and for years since some of the other barbecue places around town have closed this has become a favorite. Service was good and the server came around a couple times to make sure we had enough to drink and to clear empty plates. The food was so good, as usual. I had the pulled chicken sandwich with sides of green beans and mac n cheese, which were delicious! The chicken was a tiny bit dry alone (not a frequent occurrence) but after I drizzled some of my favorite mustard barbecue sauce over it, it was delicious. The mac n cheese was soft, cheesy and had great flavor, and the beans were so flavorful and juicy. My dad had pulled pork, green beans and a side salad and he really enjoyed all of it. My mom had plain (no sandwich) pulled pork and mac n cheese and thought it was good too. The only downer about this recent visit was that about halfway through our meal a group of what seemed to be high school students and parents from a local athletic team came in and overtook the enclosed patio area where we were sitting. They were pretty loud and excited although not out of control--it just makes it hard to have conversation at one's own table with so much background noise. We understand that this isn't something the restaurant can really control and we were about to leave anyway so it wasn't too big of a deal. We've driven by and pointed to City Barbeque in Columbus, OH a few times when I went to school there. Never got the chance to try it until the chain spread like wildfire across Indiana. This BBQ concept was completely new to me (I haven't ventured to Kansas City, Texas, Tennessee...). Upon walking in, there's the order line to your left and dining room to your right. It's kind of like Panera Bread, where you order, pick up your food, and choose your own table. So if you're a first timer, they give you a tiny meat sample as you hop into the line to order. The cashiers are really willing to help you figure out what you want if you've got a million questions. To save the hassle, we ended up ordering the Deluxe City Sampler. It's the whole shabam complete with 1/4 chicken (breast/wing or leg/thigh), 1/2 slab ribs, pulled pork, beef brisket, 2 sides, 2 cornbreads and Texas toast. More than enough for two! For the 2 sides we chose the fries and green beans with bacon. We also got 2 fountain drinks - typical sodas, sweet/unsweetened tea, and lemonade (free refills). They've got a condiment table (pickles/sauces), wet naps, to-go boxes/bbq sauce containers right next to the fountain sodas. The food? I believe it's better than Squealers, Famous Dave's, and all those other chain BBQs in Indy. City BBQ's ribs were fall of the bone good, pulled pork was juicy, brisket was tender, and chicken was nothing special. Drench those meats and sop up a mixture of mustard and brushfire BBQ sauce with your cornbread/Texas toast. Shake up that spiced vinegrette right into your fries and pulled pork for a bit of zing. Normally I hate cooked to death green beans, but the bacon makes everything better. The sampler's the best way to go if you've got a friend to share with. It's a real meal deal vs. the a la carte. You'll even have leftovers for lunch the next day. Don't forget to pack a few sauce cups in your box as well! It's our new fave BBQ hotspot, so we'll definitely be returning! read more

Meats: Brisket - It had a nice smoke ring and was very tasteful. I was sold on this place when I tasted it. I judge barbecue with brisket like I judge Italian with there lasagna. Turkey & Pulled Pork - they were both very good and juicy. It is very hard to keep smoked turkey juicy but some how they have managed to do it. Sausage - When I cut into the sausage I was expecting a lot of grease like all the other places, I was wrong it was juicy but not grease. It has a very good peppered flavor that stays with you for a minute. Sides: Greens, Green Beans and Texas Toast - they were all good but I was pretty full from all that meat listed above. Mac & Cheese - I thought it was creamy and very good. It was not dry or grease like you get at other locations. My father in law thinks it is the best thing on earth. Most recently I visited on 06/19/18 and as usual, the food was fantastically phenomenal Not only is the meat mouthwatering good, but they have really tasty sides. I've been here 1,000,027 times, but apparently I have never done a review. I have all these pictures in my phone that have been backing up and now it's time to post them! You know how that goes.......always putting the review off until later!!! Well, let me tell you what the best kept secret is at this place. It's the smoked turkey! OMG!!!!!! ‼ The servings are by weight. So every time I see the turkey on my plate I think to myself, "this is not enough. "And every single time I can barely finish it!! It's so juicy and moist but the trick is to eat it quick! Once it starts cooling off, it is not as good as before. However, if you warm it up later on it is still pretty good. What I like to do is get the two meets with two sides. One of my sides is always a salad with ranch. The salads are just OK nothing big. But you do get a free piece of bread with your meal. I go and grab free pickles, onions and mayo from the condiment section and make myself a sandwich. Yummy! My husband consistently gets ribs and chicken. I believe we have tried everything, and it's all good. But the turkey is definitely worth the trip. You should go gobble some up! read more

The rest of the food's good, though the green beans don't seem fresh, I could be wrong, but they seem canned. Atmosphere is pleasantly blues filled. Service has always been good the two times I've been here. Just wish the floor was cleaner- it's 4:30 in the afternoon, and it obviously hasn't been swept since the lunch rush. Their meats are all tender, full of flavor and fall apart. I recommend the pulled pork, but I may be bias, it is my all time favorite! They have their own sauces and a wide variety so there is something for everyone. The atmosphere - very casual, laid back and rustic. I love the picnic feel even when you are sitting at a table. They have rolls of paper towels instead of napkins as well, which comes in handy when dealing with bbq. The service is always quick and friendly, the price is very affordable and even more so for large groups or families. The sides - GET ALL THE SIDES. Greens were boss! Corn pudding I would have wanted sweeter but still good. The mac was not as flavorful as I like my mac to be. When you are making mac n cheese, it has to be boss... period! and it must make you role your eyes to the back of the head with a hard table bang because it's so damn good! I didn't get that here but it was creamy which I like but my soul had to search for flavor opposed to my taste buds being drowned in flavor. Sweet tatters weren't bad, I liked the Wally nuts included. The ambiance was BBQ restaurant for sure nothing cute or special about it. Staff was not friendly considering the manager stood there talking to a friend/customer to the point he could not or did not acknowledge anyone but the woman he was talking to. How the hell do you run out of ribs by 6:00 on a Saturday?! Once, I ordered online and paid and when I got there they told me they ran out of ribs and asked if I wanted to substitute chicken.
