Giudbess, what a lovely treasure and addition to the near Eastside neighborhood (and conveniently less than ten minutes from home). I was so excited to hear of Gomez BBQ expanding beyond their City Market location and better yet, brightening up a spot on the near Eastside. The space boasts a charming black historic tin ceiling, floor to ceiling windows, cozy vibes and a mural along the side of the building. Rumor has it there are plans of adding a side patio for expanded outdoor seating. One of the things I love most about this location is that they offer a breakfast menu and variety of coffee drinks using Bee Coffee Roasters beans. I ended up ordering an oat milk based cinnamon beverage and it was delightful. I also ordered a pulled pork sandwich and smoked tofu for the road. The pork was amazing---and I'm all about the pickle combo to balance the flavors. I also appreciate that Mike supports other local businesses like Broad Ripple Chips and Four Birds Bakery. I was able to buy the tofu vacuum sealed to take home and prepare with other ingredients. Promise you won't regret a breakfast/lunch or dinner at Gomez BBQ. Cherry on top? Order a beer flight while you're there. Enjoy!

Bbq bowl and beer; draft is available, too.

I learned of this location days after a failed attempt to get my bbq fix at their former City Market spot. How lucky for me! The menu isn't huge but has a few standards and daily specials. I planned on getting something "small" but heard myself order the bbq bowl subbing in brisket for the chicken or pork. And a beer. Because...barbecue! I was happy with my food, it had a good amount of meat and the crunchy pickles on top were a nice touch. There are some parking spots next to the building and in back. The place is small so if you have a big group get there before the usual rush times to get one of the bigger tables.

THAT is a lot of sandwich!

This was a great place! One man operation the Saturday night we went there. Didn't have to wait long to get our food and the man that greeted us was kind and took the time to fill us in on all the deets. Small place. 4 tables, 18 table seats. A dozen or so bar seats. A small fenced in patio to the right of the restaurant with 3 or so wooden picnic tables, but nicely shaded by the two story building next door. Fun upbeat jazzy music, not too loud, just perfect. It was warm inside...but it was warm outside, and the wall facing 10th street is all windows, so that's to be expected. Lots of good beers on draft. Craft soda, which I'm usually not a fan of but the MexiCola was yummy. The chips weren't plentiful, but the meat portion was satisfying and filled my tummy. Prices were really fair. They offer cookies from 4 Birds Bakery and that's always a fav of mine. It was a good place. The only thing for ME though, when it comes to BBQ, because there seems to be one on every corner, it has to have some OUTSTANDING feature in order for it to stand out amongst the rest. And this really didn't have that. If I lived in Woodruff Place, I could see walking here a couple times a month, or ordering carry out and bringing some home. But since it's a little bit more of a drive, I don't see us stopping by again real soon. There isn't anything *special* that I would crave and NEED to go. But def a great small business, a fun new place to try and if you are looking for a great small BBQ place, with big portions and decent prices? This is a must see

Smoked wings with sambal sauce. So good that the phone ate last.

The smoked wings with sambal sauce are amazing! I know this is a bbq place but the wings caught our eye and I'm so glad we tried them. You get 6-7 wings for $8.00. The smoky flavor of the wings is prominent and long-lasting, but not overbearing. The sambal sauce is a spicy, sriracha sauce that slightly reminded me of buffalo sauce. The spicy, tangy, vinegary sauce combined with the smokiness created a really unique and addicting flavor profile. FYI the sambal sauce is quite spicy so I would ask for sauce on the side if you want to control the spice level. The guys at the counter were also friendly and a pleasure to chat with. Will definitely be back to try other menu items and highly recommend to others!

Best BBQ I've ever had!!! Everything was delicious - I can't explain how good the quesadilla was - it was the perfect mix of cheese, meat & eggs. And the sauce to dip it in was SOO good. It was also perfectly crisp. The sampler platter is a great option if you want a taste a bit of everything. They also have a lot of drink options - sodas, teas, coffee, bloodys, wine/beer. I got an ice coffee and it was delicious. They have some vegetarian options if you have someone in your group that can't eat meat. And differenr days have specials for sandwiches, ribs etc. Perfect option for catering, take out or dine in. Will be back. Enjoy!!!

Pulled pork, macaroni and cheese, and baked beans.

First time visiting Gomez and only my second time in City Market - definitely recommend going early for the widest selection, as they'll sell out of things and not be able to replenish it. (Not a bad business model by any means, just something to know ahead of time!) Since I was short on time I just got the pulled pork with a side of baked beans and mac and cheese. The pork was DELICIOUS and the sauce was a perfect mix of savory with just a tiny bit of heat. Not sure I'd go with the same sides next time - not bad, but definitely interested in trying something different next time for sure. All in all, if you're looking for great BBQ downtown definitely give this one a shot!

    Smoked brisket (bread on side)
    Christine W.

Fantastic addition to the near east side! Smoked brisket was soo tender and juicy. The smoked tofu and the pulled pork were also delicious. Carry-out was super fast. Service was beyond friendly and welcoming! They have homemade sodas and to-go beers in cans for carry-out, too. Small dine-in area but great atmosphere and people.

This place is so comfortable. It's like being in your friends house with the best barbecue and a draft bar! All of the servers here are kind, knowledgeable, and considerate. They make you feel like you're a friend hanging out. I highly recommend this place to all my friends and acquaintances, both for the food and vibes. Check this place out if you have 10+ minutes!!I heard the red curry ramen is also really good too. They have lots of draft beer and all the recommendations.

    Brisket with Cajun potato salad
    Amanda G.

Bbq isn't my favorite food to eat but I couldn't get enough of Gomez BBQ's brisket and Cajun potato salad. A little bite of that and then a little bite of this was my method for this meal. The two paired together was great. If you're on the east side of Indy, check this pace out.

Root beer float with smoked ice cream - snag it every Wednesday!
    Niki B.

BRING ON THE BBQ. Come here and you'll find that magic combo of loving both the menu AND the staff. Gomez BBQ is a great example of passion turned concept. They switch up their menu from time-to-time and are always experimenting and interacting with customers. I've tried: the Tasso ham and cheese, specially-seasoned chips (seriously you need to get these as your side), and the root beer float with smoked vanilla ice cream. YEAH YOU READ THAT RIGHT. Every Wednesday this summer. Tell your friends. What makes them different? They use all locally-sourced products. They even use their City Market neighbor Circle City Sweets for bread. And they slow-smoke. As in, it takes about twenty hours to do. #Patience Next on my list to try: the avocado toast with pork belly and Morroccan mint tea. Yes, please.

    Pho Q weekly special

Love the Pho Q specials here! I would try them all if I could. Make sure to give the coffees a try too. I love the option of having a good coffee or espresso after dinner and the options at Gomez are great. The owner is always nice and willing to chat it up with us, which is always a plus. Can't wait to walk over during the summer to enjoy the patio area

Ginger beer float w/smoked ice cream $3
    Brittney R.

After being introduced to this business through a Yelp event, I had to return. I tried the Tasso ham and cheese, the hand crafter "special rub" potato chips and the root beer float. The Tasso sandwich is to die for! It has smoked ham, mustard, cheese and delicious homemade pickles. It comes with a few plain Amazing Potato Chips and small cup of cole slaw. The cole slaw needs improvement. It was very plain and dry and I threw it away after a couple bites. Gomez BBQ special chips is the owner's special concoction of spices on the Amazing Potato Chips. It has a smoky flavor with lots of paprika. They are really good and pair well with any of the meals. The root beer float is a special item. It comes with smoked ice cream. I do not like root beer, so I ordered mine with ginger beer instead. All of the sodas at Gomez's are handcrafted. The smoked ice cream paired well with the smoked meat sandwich, but it was not so good by itself. Trying to drink/eat it after I was finished with my meal did not taste as good. So if you ordered it, definitely pair it with a meat order.

I met Gomez while he was working at Tomlinson Tap Room, and was lucky enough to get to hear about his plans to start something up at City Market once the space became available. If you haven't met Gomez before, he's a great guy, an extremely hard worker, and someone who strives to put a great product out. You might not know Gomez, but you may have had some of his food before. Last year his products were in some of the boutique shops in Indy, like Wildwood Market. It's tasty stuff! I arrived at City Market one evening recently and caught up with Gomez. He didn't have much left on the menu for the day, but I was anxious to try something and always love good BBQ. I went with the smoked sausage and had him throw some bbq baked beans on it (you know, for good measure). My dinner was HUGE and delicious. In fact, I could only eat half. Fortunately, I was with friends and the other half didn't go to waste. The four of us that split the sandwich all walked away with smiles on our faces. Seriously, if you're looking for good BBQ and want to support one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet who gets as much as he can from local vendors, swing by Gomez BBQ. You'll only walk away unhappy if you want too long and he's sold out of everything for the day.

I took several glances at the food other were ordering and they all looked so appealing and appetizing. I decided to order something that I haven't tried anywhere else, so I ordered the Southern Shakshuka, which is their own unique spin-off to the original. Today I had the avocado toast with feta and an egg on top, and it totally hit the spot. Earlier this week I tried one of the newer menu items -- fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, plus a sample of jalapeño cornbread and Asian slaw. Incredible comfort food. The mussels were actively bad. The portion (an app) was pretty small. There was hardly any broth/wine and they weren't piping hot. Also, they were actually not tasty and the texture was rubbery. The avocado toast with salmon was really good. The flavors were spot on and as with the other food, very fresh and well prepared. The brisket burger patty melt was also done perfectly. The brisket patty was a perfect medium and the onions were grilled just right. We opted for mayonnaise instead of the Thousand Island dressing it comes with. The other dressing may have been good but the mayo really paired well. Finally, the club sandwich was again prepared perfectly. Fresh meat, perfectly toasted bread (some places under toast and many over toast) - it was quite tasty. The French fries were fried so that they were crispy (but not overdone) on the outside but soft inside. We were very pleased with The Yolk and would definitely return if we come back to town in the future!

I also got a side of egg whites, but they were cooked in that butter spray and didn't taste fresh. The cheesy grits were OK but not very flavorful. I also got a Matcha, but it was pretty watery about a two out of five stars. I will note that the service was good and the staff was friendly.

The restaurant features an extensive drink menu that will suite anyone's pallet. We chose to start with the bread service which was killer especially the honey butter. All of the apps look d amazing but went for the dry rub duck wings with home made ranch. My only critic was I wish there were more than 3. Finished off with the shrimp and grits. Although, I wasn't in New Orleans the spiciness took me back there. The wait staff was great. Even though we were late for the reservation we were seated promptly and had multiple people taking care of us. Spoke & Steele is a must if you are staying in the hotel but also if you want a cool vibe for drinks and great food I would stop by and take a look.

The seating? Intimate. The lighting? Soft. The whole space feels like a quiet luxury moment tucked right into the city. Now let's talk about what REALLY matters, the food. The shrimp & grits??? Listen... this wasn't just a dish, this was an EXPERIENCE. The grits were creamy, smooth, and perfectly rich, but that sauce layered on top?? Whew. Flavor on flavor on flavor. You've got that deep, savory, slightly smoky profile with juicy shrimp, sausage, and those pickled onions cutting through everything with the perfect tang. Every bite felt intentional. Like somebody knew what they were doing in that kitchen. And can we talk about how beautiful it was plated?? Because yes, I absolutely appreciated the aesthetics before I even picked up my fork. Paired it with a simple coffee moment, sitting by the window, and honestly... it felt like a reset. Not rushed, not loud, just good food, good atmosphere, and a chance to actually enjoy it. If you're looking for a brunch spot that feels a little more elevated, a little more intentional, and delivers on both flavor and experience. This is it. 10/10. I'll absolutely be back!!!

FLAVORFUL RESTAURANT IN A HIP PART OF INDY…read more======================================== My daughter-in-law recommended Bluebeard for dinner on Monday, June 22, 2026. I would have to say this restaurant is my favorite in Indy right now after one meal. Most of the things we shared were amazing and for a complete description please refer to my photo of the menu. We ordered the following: Burrata with Amelia's bread as an appetizer which was delicious. Gem Salad - This was amazing and I could eat it every day of the week. Stacci house made pasta - This was a big hit and I would order this every time. Hanger Steak - My husband, aka the picky eater, loved it. I didn't try it, but everyone seemed to like it. Chicken with a few dumplings - We all loved this. Three desserts to share: a cheesecake with fruit on top, one a bread pudding and a chocolate crisp. I ordered a delicious Monsoon Season cocktail with song cai vietnamese gin, cocchi americano, st. george thai basil eau de vie, elderflower, lemon and basil oil. My son and I also ordered glasses of Port after dinner. The service was great and I loved that they were playing really good rock music like Soundgarden and others. There are lots of antique typewriters above the bar and a cool print of Kurt Vonnegut by the bathrooms. I am looking forward to going again the next time my husband and I are in Indy visiting my son and daughter-in-law unless they move out of state.

Themed around Indy native Kurt Vonnegut, you'll see old typewriters, books, and names of menu items paying tribute to the famous author. The menu feels high class but the atmosphere and wait staff are friendly and welcoming. You could dress up for a special occasion or come in casual every day wear and either fit in just fine. Their ever changing menu featuring local produce and meats is always unique, inventive, and most importantly, delicious. Their cocktail list is one of the best and I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had an extensive mocktail list as well. Their sodas and syrups are all house-made which means every drink is full of fresh flavors. I had a lemon pasta dish an my husband ordered the hanger steak. Both were cooked perfectly and composed of flavors and textures that complimented each other perfectly. There's nothing that wouldn't be good on their menu because you can tell the chefs are exceptional as well as the ingredients they choose. I really can't say enough good things about this place, it remains one of my favorite places to enjoy a meal and no matter what I choose, I'm never disappointed.

Great location at…read morethe end of Mass Ave near Bottleworks--and pro tip: parking directly in front on the same side of the street is free. The space is big and fun, with a large dining room, an old-school video arcade game, interesting art, and a big screen playing movies, which adds to the laid-back, quirky vibe. It's counter service with clear menu boards on the wall, making ordering easy. I had the cheesy jalapeño grits with bacon and an egg and... my goodness. So incredibly delicious. One friend ordered the same grits but swapped in fried catfish instead of bacon--also a fantastic choice. Our third went with a classic plate with eggs and bacon, and let me tell you, the bacon is thick and plentiful. We ordered a side of fries for the table and there were more than enough to share. Self-serve coffee with all the fixings is a nice touch, and the service was friendly and welcoming. Fun atmosphere, great food, solid portions--definitely will be back.

My husband and I had never been here before and the lady at the counter was less than friendly. She did tell us the menu was on the other wall. My husband got a Diet Coke that came in a can and we both got a classic plate minus the toast. 2 eggs, 2 sausage patties... nothing special including the presentation. The price for each plate was $18 plus a $2 can of coke and a tip they didn't deserve brought our total to a little over $40. The eggs were flavorless and literally had no seasoning. I did appreciate that the sausage patties weren't greasy. That was about the only good thing. The decor looked like they took whatever thrift stores couldn't sell with no particular theme. Funny enough, we went out for breakfast a few days later to a DIFFERENT PLACE and for the SAME PRICE got way more food, better quality food, better presentation, full table service, friendly service, great atmosphere, and an overall wonderful experience. Overall, I would not recommend this place. We left feeling like we got ripped off and I could have made the same thing better at home.
