My boyfriend and I did the DC Brew Tour for our two year anniversary. Barry was our tour guide, and we almost broke up because I think both of us were in love with him by the end of the tour. He was knowledgeable, funny, and handled us all very professionally as we started to get a little tipsy towards the third stop. I'm not sure we've ever had such a cool experience in DC as this. We visited 4 different breweries and were able to sample 18 different beers. I am not a beer person by any stretch of the imagination, but I can now tell you what it means that something is an IPA, what Imperial means, the different ingredients that go into beer, and why canned beer will always taste better than bottled beer. I'm sure he told us some other really important information, but I did get 18 different beer samples. It is obvious that DC Brew Tours has a great relationship with the breweries, and they all treated us like important guests. When we went to Bardo's there was a line out the door and halfway across the yard. Barry was able to skip the line and get us all our beers. There was never a wait or a want. I know this seems trivial, but I'm also really weird about being stuck in a van with 12 other people while some stranger drives me around. Barry was a great driver, and the camaraderie that he built with the group was amazing. It was a great day, and I would do this again in a heartbeat! This was SUCH a fun night!! We met right in front of the t was super easy to find the van, and our guide Isaac. We were the last to show (on time though!) so we got right on our way - into the an epic traffic jam on our way to the first stop, Port City. I'm talking SERIOUS traffic, but I was really impressed with how Isaac rolled with it. We got the low-down on how beer was invented all the way to how it's made now, and local brewing-relevant history. I think it took a full hour to get to Port City, but Isaac really kept his cool, and adjusted the tour specifics as needed to make everything work as planned. I felt pretty bad for him, but I don't think a single one of us minded at all. We really enjoyed all 4 stops. They were all unique and we learned about different aspects of brewing at each of them. At the food stop, the flight was designed so each beer paired with a different component of the meal. And we got to taste a really broad range of beers, more than I anticipated. They don't skimp. We had a great group of people on our tour as well. The van was completely packed, and by the end, it was like we had been on a family reunion. It's so much fun to meet people from all over - we had Californians, Alaskans, and Canadians, as well as locals on our tour. All in All, HIGHLY recommended!! You'd never be able to replicate this on your own without spending more money and/or having at least one person in the group miss out because s/he has to be DD. read more

I recently went on the Sip of DC Guided Brewery Tour and cannot recommend it highly enough! Our tour guide, Ashleigh R., was terrific and made the experience unforgettable. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the local beer scene and had great recommendations for each brewery we visited. Speaking of the breweries, they were all fantastic. The beer selection was varied and excellent despite not always matching my preferred style. I loved being able to try different brews and learn about the brewing process from the experts themselves. It was clear that each brewery was carefully chosen and had a unique character that made the tour truly special. What set this tour apart, however, was the intimate experience. Our group was small, meaning we got to know each other and our guide well. It was like going on a tour with friends, and I think that's what made it so memorable. Ashleigh was great at keeping the conversation flowing and ensuring everyone felt included. If you're a beer enthusiast exploring The District's beer scene, I highly recommend the Sip of DC Guided Brewery. We did a private brewery tour through DC Brew Tours for a bachelorette party and had a fantastic time! Our driver and beer guide, Isaac, knew his stuff and fielded our many, many questions. We were picked up at our hotel and taken to our first stop: One Eight Distilling. We weren't able to do a tour, but they made us delicious 'Old Fashioneds' which pretty much made us forget about doing a tour anyway. Next we were whisked away to Hellbender Brewing where we were given a detailed tour and walk through of the brewing process while drinking many, many samples: Kolsch, Saison, Hefe and a sour ale. Stop three was Brookland Pint for the dinner stop. We started with sweet potatoes served with sour cream; I'm not sure if it was all the beer we had, but they were delicious! Meal was a lightly dressed sales, 3 hot wings and a cheese tortilla--quite filling. Our last stop was at DC Brau. We enjoyed our choice of beers while hearing about the history and doing a walk through of their warehouse. The staff was friendly and it was a nice end to the evening. Isaac dropped us back at our hotel 5 hours later. It was a nice start to our evening out. Will definitely take another tour sometime. Thanks DC Brew Tours! read more

If you like to drink beer and like to have fun - the DC Brew Tour is a must do! We were in DC for the weekend and learned the DC Brew Tour was starting up that weekend. After a great experience last year on the Boston Brew Tour, we immediately signed up for the After Hours Tour. It was a blast and one of the highlights of our weekend stay. If our itinerary had allowed, we would have gone on the tour again the next day. Chad and Luke were leading our tour to four breweries - Atlas, Bardo, Port City and Capital City. All of them real good breweries with really good beer. Chad and Luke offered great insight into the history of beer and the beer making process along with offering unique details for each of the breweries. They made the tour a lot of fun as we traveled between breweries. We were welcomed at each brewery with generous samples of beer. My favorites were: Rowdy Rye at Atlas, the Marion Berry at Bardo, the Oktoberfest at Port City and the Prohibition Porter at Capital City. We also had some awesome food at Capital City as part of the tour. We talked about our tour experiences all weekend and will go on the tour again the next time we're in DC. read more

As a customer who feels very privileged to have been on the very first DC Brew Tour, I don't feel as though I experienced any of the growing pains usually associated with new companies. The van arrived at the designated starting point right on time, and the driver (Chad) seamlessly navigated the confusing streets of DC throughout the entire tour. Chad had more than enough material to fill all of the time in the van with interesting anecdotes about beer. I especially enjoyed the history of the world, as seen through the eyes of a beer lover. The After Hours Tour also included a good collection of breweries. The breweries we visited varied from a new start up in a warehouse (Atlas) and an outdoor, dog-friendly brewery (Bardo), to a sleek and swanky brewery in Arlington (Capital City). There's certainly a brewery for everyone. On top of the excellent driving, narration, and beer, you also get to enjoy a delicious dinner at one of the breweries. Overall, I couldn't give a better recommendation to DC Brew Tours. Excellent tour guides, great food, and most importantly, lots of good beer. read more

My girlfriend and I went on the After Hours tour on a Saturday night. We previously went on a Boston brew tour with the same company and had a phenomenal experience. The company recently expanded to DC and we decided to give it a try and again the experience was great. Our guide had plenty of knowledge of the brewing process in general, as well as history of each place we visited. We sampled many delicious beers at each of the five breweries we went to. At the end of the group tour at each location there is time to explore what each brewery had offer besides what was given at the tasting.The dinner included with the tour was designed to be paired with different beers that was provided at that restaurant/brewery along with a seasonal brew they offered. Between the excellent beer, food and company of complete strangers that after a few drinks become friends, it is an experience worth having. Cheers. read more

We had a fantastic time on our tour! It seriously exceeded all expectations. Being driven around and taken to several breweries in one day is great if you're a beer lover, obviously. I didn't expect our tour guides, Courtney and Isaac to be SO knowledgeable about all things beer and brewing; we learned so much! I also loved that they listened to what we liked in a beer and then selected beer for us to try; I ended up trying all kinds of beer I never would've ordered on my own, and I really liked them all. Courtney is a genius at ordering, and at pairing beer with each food item at lunch. Seriously, every aspect of this tour is well thought out and has the true beer fan in mind. This was a gift for my husband, and he said this was even better than the time he got an Atari for Christmas in 1982 (the previous record holder for Best Gift Ever); I can think of no higher praise. read more

We previously took a tour with Luke and Chad up in Boston and enjoyed it so much that we jumped at the chance to do it in our hometown! Chad has just started up a DC version and we were the second group to go out with them. They have a great thing going on. We hit Port City, Cap City (for lunch), Chocolate City, and DC Brau. We met at 11am (easy location near metro center stop), and returned there by 4pm. Chad drove (9 of us total), shared DC beer history and had knowledge of the breweries visited. At each of the breweries, we had personal tours, extra time for tastings, and great company too! What more could you ask for? Lunch at Cap City had beer pairings to go with our chicken sandwich, fries with aioli sauce, curry hummus with pita and a salad. You could also ask for vegetarian options. This was my first brewery tour ever, and I had a great time! We got to tour 4 different breweries (Atlas, Bardo, Port City, and Capitol City) and try 4-5 samples at each location. We then got a meal at the last brewery that was chosen to pair with the different beer samples. The tours were filled with interesting information about how beer is made, and the drives between the breweries gave us some history of beer. Our guides, Chad and Luke, were able to answer all of our questions and had a great sense of humor. I have already recommended this tour to some friends and co-workers, and I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys beer or just trying out some new places around DC. read more

We had a *blast* we were in DC for our Honeymoon and wanted to do something that didn't involve us having to walk all over the place and we wanted to go places we never would have found on our own. This tour was seamless! We were picked up on time and got a beer history lesson on the way. Loved Hellbender but Public Option was by far my favorite...what they are able to make with the facilities they have is awesome. Dinner was great and we have a pure blast! You might think that $90 is a little high for a tour but this one is well worth it if you like trying different types of beer and just having a good time. Thanks Chris you were great!! read more

We thoroughly enjoyed the Nova Brew Tour, and you really get a good bang for your buck. Our guide Steve was entertaining, energetic, and knowledgeable about all things beer. I would recommend this experience to anyone in the area. We originally had the Saturday booking and it got cancelled, so we ended up getting the Sunday booking. We were called again and had to push the time due to another issue with their fleet. While frustrating, the company did everything they could to help out, including offering a nice percentage refund for our troubles. We went on the Happy Hour DC tour with a group of 10. There was another couple in our tour that added to the fun. The transportation, the breweries, and especially the guide were spectacular. I have nothing but excellent things to say about City Brew Tours. Our guide, Isaac, was extremely knowledgable, kind, and hilarious. The breweries were so awesome, very prepared for our arrival and excited to have us there. The van that Isaac drove us in comfortably fit all of us and was perfect for the tour. We went on the 1st ever After Hours Brew Tour with Chad and Luke, Sept 12th. We did the Boston tour with Chad a while back (which is also a great tour) so was very excited to hear that the new DC tours were going to be offered. The tour included Atlas, Barto, Port City and Capital City. Each stop provided a great selection of samples, insight into the operations and time to enjoy additional tastings. A delicious food/beer pairing was offered at Capital City. Chad's beer/history narration and the sights along the way make for a great tour and a MUST do when in DC. Fantastic!!!! What an amazing tour with Chris as our guide!!! Chris is so knowledgable about the beers and the histories of the Breweries we toured as well as the history of beer in general. So organized but not to the point where you felt rushed in anyway. We had plenty of time to sample the beers and visit with each other and the other folks on the tour. My family from Wisconsin came for a long weekend and this was the best way to spend a fun filled day together. Chris made the day so enjoyable with great breweries and great conversation. I took the inaugural Virginia tour and had such an awesome time! Our guide Steve was great! He took us behind the scenes at all the places we went to and he rocked some knowledge on how beer was made the entire time! We went to Lake Anne Brew House, Dynasty Brewing, and Rocket Frog, and also had lunch at Fireworks. Steve walked us through a beer and food pairing, and the food was exceptional! We also started with wood fired pizza! I didn't have time to get breakfast, so I was pleasantly surprised with the pretzel we got at Lake Ann from Nordic Knots! read more

Isaac was THE man and made the night what it was; deliciously joyous! Isaac quizzed and taught us about beer's ancient history and forced us to break the ice with our peers which made the night much more sociable. Port City, The Public Option and Bardo Brewing were the night's highlights. The only other stop was Capitol City Brew Pub. Their beer was the weakest flavor wise, but the food was satisfyingly pleasing. I'm too lazy to go into more detail at the moment. My advice is to go on a Saturday night and request Isaac as your guide. Cheers!! read more

Isaac made the perfect guide. This was a company event and I just tagged along for the experience. But Isaac turned me from a non beer drinker to someone who appreciates the process and quality of a well crafted beer. He introduced the rosemary beer at red bear brewery that was life changing. The bouquet was light and the flavor changes as you let it linger. His knowledge of beer history was off the charts. Plus he explained the proper way to pour a beer which does make a huge difference. My husband and I were in Washington this past weekend and decided to take a tour of local brew pubs on Sunday. Great time! The tour guide Chris was awesome. The pairing at Capitol City was very good. The food was amazing. Bardo Brewpub was unique and what a hoot! Loved Bardog of course but then I am an animal lover. Port City Brewing was a beautiful facility with some great beers and Public Option was a great stop, the owners were so friendly and nice. I would highly recommend this tour group if you want to do something fun while in DC. read more
