Ran into the Bistro for a quick bite . Quaint little place off the highway but don't let it fool you . Inside you quickly realized this is a place for the wealthy , and actually had valet parking too ! Housewives , families and professionals lined the venue - it was like a movie . I ordered a chicken salad wrap from the cordial service member and was delighted when they brought it ! Nice size and tasty chicken salad . This seems like the "go to" deli for Dallas . Great place

Came here one day for lunch with a friend. Got the City Club Cafe Sandwich with fries. The Sandwhich comes with Mayo smoked Turkey breast, applewood smoked bacon, avocado cheddar cheese, tomato & red leaf lettuce on sourdough bread. It was very good! For dessert I got the Blum's caramel crunch cake. It was a little too sweet for my taste. But tasted like a coffee cake. For drinks we got the famous "teamon-ade" which was delish! The vibes are very "park cities/ highland park" if you know what I mean.

    Great desserts

City Cafe To Go is a casual café that specializes in sandwich, salad, lunch type fare and also boasts some impressive desserts. It works better as a place to grab a nice slice of cake, as getting to the restaurant can be difficult. My Overall Rating - 2 Stars (Service, Food) Atmosphere - Getting to City Cafe To Go can be a challenge. Besides a narrow turn in off Lovers, it's a very narrow lot with a parking garage that's tough to get into. But there's also a valet, which sort of surprised me until I realized this restaurant is very popular with "ladies that lunch". It's more social hour vs. lunch hour, so normal weekday lunch saw some heavy crowds that tended to just loiter around. If you're part of that crowd, you have a seat saved. As for me? I heard the tea was good. No Stars. Service - Standard counter service applies here. Wait in line, drool over desserts behind the case, order your meal, grab a number, find a seat, & wait. The staff was friendly enough and moved the line quickly. The only hiccup was they delivered someone else's order to our table and there was a slight mix up. But no harm done - they were quick to resolve. 1 Star. Food - Honestly, my Panini (supposedly popular) was unforgettable. Another review referenced NY, and my apologies but other than the parking situation there wasn't anything that reminded me of NY. My wife had a salad, which she said was good, but again, nothing that jumped out. Thank goodness for desserts. We did order a chocolate cake, a bit dry in the middle but better than our lunch offerings. I know they have other desserts that are great so I'm going to give them a little love. Oh, and the tea was excellent. 1 Star. Will I Return? - Not my scene. Sorry, but I doubt I'll ever return unless I'm picking up dessert for someone. City Cafe To Go appears to be a popular spot that caters to the aforementioned "ladies who lunch". I'm sure they have many regulars, but unless you're looking for some unique dessert options, I would pass on a visit/return. No Stars. My Yelp Rating Scale (Sum of all parts): 1 Star - Atmosphere - Is it a cool dive? Perhaps an upscale place? No matter the type, atmosphere plays a big part and I'll give a star if I like it or thinks it has great charm. 1 Star - Service - You can have a great meal with bad service. But that's also what can make a five star joint drop to four. It's important to the dining experience that service is great and on point. 2 Stars - Food - I'll award up to two stars for the food, since this is the main reason we dine out. Sometimes the extra star is given for value, but it's really all about the food. 1 Star - Will I come back? - If I know for a fact I'll return, I'll give this a star. A place has to make an impression for me to return. Each Category can be given up to 1 star except food (2 stars) because I consider all these categories important to the overall dining experience. I will sum them up to provide my final Yelp score.

I had forgotten all about City Cafe To-Go. Mostly because it was such a pain in the ass to eat there. Originally it just had a handful of tables. The parking was atrocious, and it was a bit pricy. An off-shoot of the solid City Cafe, it would seem to share much of the kitchen personnel. The food was always good, but I gradually phased it out of my lunch circuit. Well, some of those issues have been rectified. I entered to find a now expansive space with comfortable tables and booths after they expanded into whatever had been next door. Finished out really well. The display cases are still filled with delectable looking entrees and sides for forming a take-out meal that you can pass off as your own. I haven't tried the take out meals but they look delicious. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/m1FX3cNdYn6lX_KG7wxZng?select=N5S4l61-Ap_PqqwDpz2jKw http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/m1FX3cNdYn6lX_KG7wxZng?select=8Rt4Yf558X--yd8_tqs8Bw http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/m1FX3cNdYn6lX_KG7wxZng?select=sDzXEL_NpCGqYxjvl1821w At 1:30 on a weekday when I eat lunch I'm not expecting most restaurants to be that crowded. Here it was, and the reason was the clientele of rich park cities and north dallas women, fresh from the gym, or tennis or yoga. Wearing expensive stretchy clothing. Asses that looked transplanted from jail-bait. Milfs biding the time until kids were picked up from school by the nanny (sorry no pics). If you like tuna salad sandwiches, and I know you are probably saying "meh", well, just try it. It's great. Vermont cheddar on toothsome wheat bread. Slightly grilled onions and good tomatoes adorn it. Accompanied by delicious pasta salad. Yes it's $11, but it is a big meal. I had the tuna melt on a cold rainy day and it was delicious also. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/m1FX3cNdYn6lX_KG7wxZng?select=HU8a25Vtd9ZPYmxK6uERIw Chicken salad sandwich is nicely made as well. Soups are good, and they are known for their tomato soup. They have a wide array of desserts, but I've just had a few of the cookies and they were just fine. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/m1FX3cNdYn6lX_KG7wxZng?select=415fTXZtPuFpKYrPSyBZ_A OK, so I paid $18 for lunch after tipping the cabana boy-like Antonio who no doubt is a draw for this clientele also. He did slip an extra cookie into my to go food so props for that. All in all solid well made food at a premium. And as the other reviewer mentioned: plenty of parking down in the parking garage.

Skip this espresso infused angel cake, disappointing , cake was hard, no coffee taste at all

As you step inside, it looks kinda upscale but from the outside, it's not in the nicest block. Parking is in the basement Food wise is hit & miss. The lamb chops is fabulous , nicely seared on the outside with a herb & salt crust, comes with beans & some greens. The duck breast is ok. Cranberry sauce is too funny, wild rice too hard. The espresso infused angel cake was a disappointment. The cake was hard & hardly any coffee taste. Our server kept starting his sentence with "my favorite is...." for everything! We just felt like he was steering us to those dishes. We would like to pick our own coz everyone's taste is different. When they came to clean our table, the server dropped a knife on me, luckily I wasn't hurt.

Flowers were provided by family, but everything else is City Cafe!

I had the most fabulous Bridal Shower thrown for me at City Cafe. We had an elegant Tea Luncheon in their private room. There were about 25 guests and everyone seemed to have a great time! They served 4 different tea sandwiches: egg salad, chicken salad, cucumber, and smoked salmon. I ate all of them all up. Then they served some scones and cream, and then came dessert. They served a chocolate covered strawberry, lemon bar, brownie, and one more (I can't remember). The service overall was great! The waiters and waitresses were very nice and even packed up some of the extra food that they had made in case anything went wrong. The only inconvenience was the parking. The parking garage is scary! The deep inclines and the "dangerous curves" were pretty frightening. Over half of the guests were late because of the crazy parking.

We reserved a week in advance for a party of 11 for brunch. They had a separate room ready for our party when we arrived. The outside looks like a super tiny little neighborhood cafe, but that is deceiving. Inside it is really much larger and very posh. The decor is upscale and music (for Sunday Brunch) was just what I have on my Spotify. I know that's not a plus for a lot of people, but I loved it. :) The bread baskets that come out after you are seated are super fresh and tasty. We had a range of dishes ranging from traditional breakfasts to crab cake benedict to the special of the day which was a trout and risotto dish I believe. All were cooked perfectly. The service was very attentive and everyone we came into contact with was pleasant and friendly. I highly recommend the City Cafe for Sunday brunch. I wished we lived closer so I might try dinner sometime, but we live a bit outside Dallas and were trying to meet up with family. Would definitely go again!

The portions don't disappoint, the price is right and you are going to get a good meal. What you aren't gonna get is a whole lot of razzle dazzle so they can charge extra, so thank you Walter.

Because each time it was different for the same item(s). First time, we ordered take out vs delivery to avoid the $8 delivery fee and we were right next door. Total cost with delivery $50 for two meals, this included the delivery fee. We opted to pick up and take advantage of the short walk across the parking lot. Same order, but only $2 less than original costs. Prices were increased, when I asked about it, she said those were prices for take out. Different from their menus provided at the hotel. The second time around, we walked over and dined in.... Like I said, food is delicious... my fave is The Walter's Special. I ordered the small Walter's Special-beef ($13.99) with fried rice (1.99) as listed on the menu. After receiving my order, it seemed bigger. So I asked if the plate was a small order, and waitress confirmed. Upon receiving the check, the cost for the order was 20+ for the small (15.99) with the rice and an additional 2.50 for the beef, price doesn't match the menu. They have good food and a great CON. Honestly, I would have paid the higher prices, they should consider updating their menu and sticking to those prices, take our or dine in.
