    Chicago and Richmond dog
    Matt F.

WoW! Came here on the recommendation of a friend. First off I LOVE a good hotdog, ok to be honest I love hotdogs in general. Just something about a hotdog that hits the spot like nothing else. Brought the 3 minions with me (11,9&7), we left our adult at home this trip. Ordered a basket of tots, a philly dog, chicago dog, richmond dog, and two kids cheeseburgers. Kids meals- both gave the cheeseburgers 5 stars. That's hard earned, especially from my 9 year old! The buns were fresh and portion was large. Like I could have eaten it for a light lunch! Tots - OMG! Just get them! Not sure the exact seasoning blend but there was definitely a touch of old bay in there. Perfect amount of crispiness AND a HUGE portion too! Dogs- Perfect snap on each bite! Buns are baked fresh at a local bakery. Toppings are on point! Oh and price? $36 for all of us WITH a good tip! We'll be back next trip to RVA for sure!

During my stay at the Berkley Hotel in Richmond, I decided to try City Dogs for some greasy comfort food. They offered delivery, and I went for the bleu cheese burger on Texas toast. Honestly, the burger wasn't anything special, but what really stood out were the portion sizes of the chili cheese fries--pretty small and pretty debatable on whether that was chili... City Dogs wasn't recommended by locals or my colleagues who work nearby, but I ordered from there before getting any recommendations. Now I see why no one mentioned it. It's decent for hangover food or a late-night, post-drinking snack when anything tastes good, but there are definitely better options around.

Good hot dogs at good prices! They have a bunch of different styles so you can't go wrong. The onion rings are also really tasty. Check this place out if you're looking for a quick and cheap bite!

    Two delicious dogs.

It is always a good thing when you walk in the door and the people greet you as if they're excited to see you! It somehow makes the food taste better. Maybe I have been scarred by the pressure of ordering a cheesesteak too many times in Philadelphia. Maybe I am a little hyper sensitive because I realize that I am officially below the Mason-Dixon Line and that many here still don't like my kind...but when they acted as if I belonged here, well, it made me a little excited. How could the food not be delicious? It was. It's easy to mess up a Chicago dog. Wrong meat. Wrong bun. Relish...peppers. This team brings in ingredients from outside the market to make sure they execute well. Chicago dogs - done well - taste like Chicago dogs. So the thing I focused on was the freshness of the ingredients. They all were melt in your mouth fresh. It was a winner. I moved to the Tennessee Dog, which I had to try because it features home made chili and home made coleslaw. The slaw was fresh and more savory than sweet, which is not what I was expecting. Nevertheless, it was great on the dog. The homemade chili was delicious too. Again, this is not "out of the can" chili- this is a chef owning his or her craft. In between bites, I snacked on their house cut French Fries. Again- no frozen crap here. They have a decent stocked bar and beer on tap. What could be better? Okay-- I am trying to lose a little weight so maybe this place was a bad idea. I mean, I got a sausage to go for the hour long ride home. I will be back. I have reviewed a lot of dog places before and this one deserves a trip down menu lane.

Very Lowkey and cheap spot with a full bar. I was not a fan of the chili on top, but the meal was cheap and exactly what you pay for. They're fries are out of this world, definitely worth the combo.

If they used Nathan's hot dogs I'd argue 6 stars. Not sure what kind of hot dogs they use, but it's really good. I love the concept of naming by location with different toppings and options. This is also the kind of place that I'm assuming you have to get what the speciality is because while the hot dogs are delicious, the cheese fries and potato salad are not good (to me) at all. Still, I've learned to skip the sides and stick to the main thing.

Very nice server. The veggie chilli is cauliflower based and has a great flavor and spice. The veggie dog had a very mushy texture but I won't blame that on them too much since they had a visible char on the outside. My husband said his regular chilli was so so and the fries were fried to crispy to enjoy. He gave it a 7/10 since the hotdog was good. Glad to see vegetarian options and grabbed a beer so it was aight.

Best dogs in town. Hands down. What ever your feeling. You can get here. And OMG. 10 dollar pitchers. WHAT. Amazing. Thanks guys. Amazing. And so friendly. Thank you. Food was great! service was fast and friendly! Thank you. We come here after Halloween party's every year. Just a fun tradition

Small space with good food and great servers.

What's not to love about a good hotdog. This place is exactly what one wants and expects out of a good hot dog joint. Service is quick, prices are cheap, and there's beer. I love the options and the ability to get a Chicago dog with that nuclear green relish is something one can't usually get in these parts. Thank you for being a Richmond staple. I highly recommend this place!

This was a great location for us as it is centered downtown and walking distance from our hotel. We came in and sat down with no wait at all. I ordered the hotdog platter which comes with 2 Richmond original dogs (chili, raw onions, mustard) and 2 sides for about $10 bucks. I opted one hotdog for a Chicago dog and chose potato salad and tots for my sides. The potato salad was not my favorite but the tots were well seasoned and fresh. Very reasonable prices for the quality. The hotdogs were fresh. The buns were nice and warm which is what you want in a good hotdog. The menu had a pretty great selection. Even though this is a hotdog joint, I noticed burgers and wings as well. The toppings were fresh and the hot dog itself was overall tasty.

Blue Cheese Burger. Started eating so fast, forgot to take a picture before the first bite :-)

Stopped by for a late night meal and it was probably the best food I'd eaten during my stay in Richmond. The service was quick and the food came out fast and most importantly it was on point! I ordered the blue cheese burger with a side of fries. The portion size were large and filling. They also serve drinks here if you're looking for a late night spot or mid day drink. The atmosphere is very laid back but seems like it can get pretty loud with the night crowd. They did check IDs for the late night crowd.

I was craving a burger and this place came to mind. Satisfied doesn't begin to describe my experience. My burger was cooked perfectly, nice and juicy with so much flavor. The fries are served crispy and hot. I really didn't need ketchup. The atmosphere was fun and enjoyable. I love the location despite the parking. I went early in the day and was able to park close, but it can be a headache. The staff was attentive and welcoming. The orders coming out looked so good! I can't wait to go back and try some other items.

Finally made it to this Richmond staple! Went here for dinner with a few friends recently. This is a reasonably priced hot dog and sandwich establishment with two locations in downtown Richmond. Popular with the VCU crowd. We enjoyed our dogs and sides. Prices were a great deal -- my friend says two can eat at city dogs for cheaper than the drive through. Nice on tap beer selection too!

Parking in the area is a little difficult and Sunday at lunch is no different. We were able to find street parking a few blocks down and were happy to enjoy the Spring weather. Eazzy Burger is a bit off of W Leigh St but adjacent to Ardent Craft Ales. The shared outdoor patio was casual with a contemporary flare and filled with Richmond 20-somethings. We easily found a table, put our things down, and headed in to Eazzy Burger to place our orders. The first thing I noticed is how creative the menu is! Craft burgers with a variety of options... everyone will find something they like. You place you order at the counter and then wait at your table until they call your name so be prepared! It took about 20 minutes (10 minutes less than what they told us!) for our 5 top to get our orders. The burgers were massive and the fries were cooked to perfection. An order of fries was missed but when I mentioned it to the expeditor at the counter, he was quick to remedy the situation. All in all, a 5 star experience!

Well, "teh machine was broke" at Krispy Kreme and they didn't have any glazed. Which led me to Sugar Shack Dounts. It's sort of in the Fan (I guess?) thank goodness for GPS or I'd never find it. Very small parking lot. No inside seating, all grab and go. Anyway. Walked in, scanned the donut case. Lots of Gucci looking donuts (I'm a big fan of glazed and chocolate iced...basic donuts). didn't see any glazed but they did have chocolate ice. Seemed somewhat busy for a Saturday morning (surprise? not to me, but apparenlty a surprise to whoever schedules people to work there). Service wasn't necessarily slow, but adding up the gucci coffees and all the door-dash (I'm assuming....there was a tape machine by the cash register steadily spitting out tickets) it was busy for one (then two) people to handle. Service was friendly enough. Second person showed up...placed my order, 3 chocolate glazed. $8! are you kidding? $8 for 3 donuts. Crazy. But I bought them. Went to my car to eat. So (after eating my 3 chocolate iced donuts): oh my. They were spectacular. A little "thicker" or "firmer" than a Krispy Kreme....and the chocolate ice stayed on the donut, solid, the whole time. Great flavor (donut and chocolate). So, yeah, you get what you pay for. I certainly wouldn't eat there everyday, or take a bunch of kids there.....but every once in a while? A nice treat.
